Guest Reviews
- nancy (8/5): Excellent - Good quality breakfast. Would have liked a few bread, muffin or bagel items More bread items
- Richard (8/5): Comfortable and well situated but overpriced for the location - Historic building, quiet, well situated with free parking and restaurants and civic sites within easy walking distance, good breakfast but for a fee. Small room. Expensive for the area, no breakfast of any kind provided except for coffee.
- carollU4935LS (10/5): Charming historic hotel with great staff. - A charming hotel in a historic small town downtown building, close to everything. Rooms are well appointed, beds are comfortable, and Monica at the front desk was very helpful with local restaurant information. We had the opportunity to attend the manager’s reception in the penthouse suite with a large balcony. Rose and Jazz were excellent hostesses. This event was a really nice little bonus! We’ll definitely stop here again when traveling south.
- joelS5167BL (10/5): Tapestry by Hilton made the stay in Florence memorable. - The night we stayed at the Tapestry by Hilton in Florence, South Carolina there was a Managers Reception. It was organized by Jazz and Rose and they were exceptional hosts. We learned about the history of the historic property, which was redone to hold its charm from the late 19th century. We also learned about the town and the region. Can not say enough good things about our hosts and the wine and small plates provided hit the spot. It made the stay memorable and we plan to return on our trip north.

- les843 (10/5): Simply Amazing Staff and Location - Hotel Florence (the penthouse) was the host site for our Leadership Florence Alumni Reunion. The staff was amazing and everyone was helpful. We were thrilled and completely happy with the experience.
- Voyager21400967920 (2/5): Horrible - Where do I even begin? We pulled up to the hotel around dinner time on New Year’s Day. There were no markings on where to park. My husband entered the hotel. There was no front desk attendant. I had to call to find out where to park. We entered the hotel with our kids. We were barely welcomed, and there was no direction on where to go to our room. We entered our room. There was an overwhelming odor, almost between mildew and mold, absolutely horrible. We were told by the front desk attendant that their restaurant was closed and we’d have to Google somewhere to eat. By the way, there’s nowhere to eat in Florence on New Year’s Day. Once we settled in, we went to shower and it was way too fine. There was no hot water in the bathroom in the shower or the sink I need to know that there’s a train that runs every half hour or so it seems there’s no relief from the train horn at all. Keep in mind. This is on a main street in the center of Florence so it’s very noisy and it doesn’t seem super safe if I could give this hotel zero stars I would it’s a shame because it has the potential to be a really cute boutique hotel. It just falls really short.
- 261tracyf (8/5): Great option off I95! - Decided to venture a bit off I95 on a trip between FL and VA. Chose this property because it looked unique and its proximity to restaurants that wouldn’t require getting back in the car.
This is such a unique hotel! Built from an historic building, it retains a lot of the original charm, including hardwood floors in the common hallways and exposed brick in some areas.
We had a king room in the corner on the third floor. The room is cozy, not huge. I’m not sure this would be the place for a long-term stay, as it is missing some comforts of more traditional hotels (no closet, minimal hooks for hanging items in the room and bathroom, no iron/ironing board), but it’s really perfect for a night or two! The bed and pillows were extra comfortable, and we found the heat/air wall-mounted split easy to control. There was a mini-fridge if you are inclined to pop some drinks in.
Drawbacks: the aforementioned lack of hanging space. Also, the windows are covered by charming louvre wooden blinds, but they did let in quite a bit of outside light.
We ate breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. We chose from the à la cart menu. Both it and the buffet were reasonably priced. Food was tasty!
Free parking in the lot across the street.
- JAMES (10/5): we will be back - It was good
- JUD (10/5): - We loved how much of the hotel has stayed true to its origins.
- Matthias (3/5): Noisy. Will not stay again. - Near the I-95 without being the typical chain hotel Very noisy! There is a railroad nearby and the trains blow their horn when passing. It woke us up multiple times. All windows are single glazing, meaning you hear even a simple conversation from down the street. The door isn’t isolated either, meaning you hear every sound on the hall way. It’s a historical building, but we had paint and plaster falling of the walls. No fridge in the room.
- Cindy (10/5): - Wonderful facility in a quaint location.
- DeMaris (10/5): Beautifully designed hotel in a quaint southern Main Street. - Beautiful location and hotel. Nothing
- Ryan (7/5): This hotel stay was pleasant and convenient to many downtown attractions - Location and comfortable beds. No closet or place to put clothing. Hot water takes a very long time to heat up in showers.
- Lynn (5/5): - Dinner was great. Staff at desk very welcoming and helpful with information. No closet. No refrigerator. Coffee maker broken. Water in shower hot and cold.

- 390gailb (8/5): A stop on a journey south - We were traveling from Maine to Florida and decided to spend a night at the hotel.
The hotel has been wonderfully restored. The rooms were spacious and well appointed.
The restaurant Victors was fantastic for dinner and breakfast.
So, you must wonder why a 4 and not a 5. When we checked in I asked for a room in a quiet location. As a result we were on the third floor, which should have been fine, except the room is by the elevator. The elevator is the only one in the hotel and people used it all night. I’d start to fall asleep and off it would go. Very frustrating.
Be sure you are nowhere near the elevator!
- Sharon (10/5): - Location
- Kendall (9/5): Such a cute place in the middle of downtown Florence! - There was so much character in the property. It was beautiful! We stayed on the second floor so when we got out of the elevator, the staircase in the middle of the hallway was so stunning. Our room was very clean, and the bed was very comfy! We will definitely be back! We didn't have a mini fridge in the room, but we made do with the ice bucket! There was something red spilled on the carpet. Everything else was great!
- Richard (4/5): - Bed was way too firm, like a brick.
The room had a horrible smell when entering, the shower took forever to get hot, and the room had view of a brick wall
- Chester (10/5): - Staff front desk was very pleasant. Wendy at front desk was awesome, very polite , pleasant. The Manager over the kitchen in Victors restaurant is great . She was very attentive and polite. Most of the staff we saw like the hostesses for the onsite restaurant was great. Rooms clean and nice bathrooms clean shower may just need small cleaning around board area but very clean
- Gwendolyn (10/5): Perfect hotel! - Wonderful hotel in all areas. Great breakfast and beautiful bar. Great service. Great room.
We’ll be back!
- Ryan (10/5): - Nice place
- Thomas (10/5): - Very unique property. Great room and bath. No closet but didn’t miss it. It had a hanging trolley. Vicytors restaurant is superb. Staff is more than gracious.
- william (10/5): nice classic motel. - Beautiful old hotel, nice restaurant. Walkable downtown. Nice free art museum around the block, lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
- Cameron (10/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): Very beautiful place. - Locations
- April (10/5): Phenomenal experience - My experience at Hotel Florence were phenomenal! Location was very convenient. Friendly staff. I will recommend 10!!!
- Matthew (6/5): Average - Historic property. The overnight clerk allowed overnight parking out front of the property in the drop off/loading zone. Loading out in the morning sucked.
- mnakis (9/5): -
- Margo (8/5): Nice quiet location - Nice, quaint facility. Beautifully appointed furniture. Restaurant was closed due to renovations. A microwave in room would have been appreciated.
- Lucas (10/5): - Nice breakfast
- jessicawG3744SH (2/5): No Southern Charm Here - NOT Family- Friendly, lobby smells oddly of cat urine, the floors of the room were sticky, there were no windows in the room, and staff is rude and unreasonable
We are driving from Virginia to Florida for Disney and decided not to stay in the hotels right off 95. We wanted to come into downtown—buying into the website description of “a boutique hotel with southern charm”—-and because we love supporting small businesses for food and shopping when we visit new places.
Not ten minutes after walking into our (less than stellar) room, the “operations manager” was knocking on our door, telling us they’d received a noise complaint from next door. Apparently we shared a wall with the spa and she suggested we keep our “cute kid” on the opposite side of the room (the bedroom vs living room side of the suite).
We hadn’t even turned on the TV! Just unloaded our small bit of luggage for one night and explored the room. Yes, our daughter rode the luggage cart back to the lobby for fun with my husband pushing (like a typical kid and what we have done in much posher hotels), and had just come back to the room. She couldn’t wait to tell me they had “a pantry with chips!!!” - you know, the little snack and beverage area - and was so excited. After six hours in a car, she was happy for the first leg of our adventures.
I visited the front desk and requested they put us in a new room then that was “family-friendly” to which they said one was not available.
We immediately left for dinner (their restaurant is closed and under renovations) and decided to switch hotels after our daughter couldn’t stop apologizing and asking what she did wrong for them to be mad at her. No histrionics. She literally could not wrap her four-year-old brain around what had just happened no matter how many times we told her the staff was just being unkind.
When we returned, we informed the front desk we were checking out and moving to another hotel (and were told no manager was on duty to talk to us).
The employee, with a clear attitude, said - “The spa is closed now so I don’t understand the issue.”
Ummmm. MA’M…. the issue is it’s not like it was 4 a.m. and we were raging. It was 4 PM and we simply had a very thankful, expressive, (freaking POLITE AF) toddler just happy to be out of the car, and in a “fun” hotel for the night.
Take our advice, and just keep driving. Our advice is to skip the city of Florence all together.
- U3432HWmonicaw (10/5): Quaint Hotel - I found this hotel charming. If you love vintage charm- gorgeous original wood flooring, exposed brick- this is the place for you. There is an upscale restuarant within walking distance as well as other eating spots. The beds were comfortable, it is very clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly. As others have noted, there isnt a closet but a hanging solution is present and it didnt bother me at all. The on site restuarant was closed for renovations but the breakfast was very good- much better quality than what I expect from a typical included hotel breakfast. There is a spa attached that I will try if staying in the future. My only suggestion would be adding a mini fridge and a luggage rack to the rooms. This hotel gave me a feel for the original town instead of a "anywhere USA "chain feel. I would stay here again.
- Mary (10/5): - What an amazing hotel right in downtown Florence. The atmosphere was perfect, the hotel was so unique, very clean and very safe. Will definitely be returning!
- Carey (10/5): - Loved the staircase
- Arthur (10/5): - A beautiful hotel with so many amazing features. The historic charm and story of this unique locale was very interesting. Within walking distance of several options for dinner and even has an onsite restaurant. We heard good things about the restaurant but sadly it was closed for renovation during our stay.
- Betty (10/5): Out on the town - I liked the whole experience, great location, nice atmosphere, beautiful hotel design N/A
- Sigma1201 (8/5): Nice place to stay, great location - This was a nice Boutique Hilton property with Large clean rooms, helpful staff and onsite restaurant. They are also walking distance to mexican restaurant across the street, a good thai restaurant down the street, and gelato shop down the street. My only gripe is their breakfast is a different model where the buffet price includes your hot items and then they nickel and dime you for everything else: Whole fruit, breakfast bars, cereal, etc.
- bigdj1006 (4/5): Promising place but very disappointing - Hotel Florence, Tapestry was very promising. It's in the heart of downtown Florence and it is a renovated 100 year old building.
What can't be overlooked are the major issues with insects and management. Within the first hour of being checked in, I founded 2 spiders in the bed. I was given another room. The next day, I found a giant roach. According to staff this was not a new phenomenon. I asked for a follow up from the manager and to date, I have not been contacted for an apology. As I told the one of the supervisors something as simple as "sorry you experienced that" would have been sufficient.
- Nancy (10/5): - Really nice, really pretty, friendly staff , lovely stay
- JenGinny (4/5): Beware of noise and uneven floors - I can see that the hotel might be "charming" for those looking for something different. However the splotchy stucco walls and exposed brick seemed run down to me and even for one night the small room and lack of hanging space was annoying. The staff really does try and dinner at the restaurant was great. The biggest issues are the floors are uneven and the noise is bad. Someone who has mobility issues or was inebriated could easily fall and my suitcase rolled into a corner when I set it in the room. Also, there was large duct running in the hallway by my room that was loud and rattling. Plus there was a compressor or something between my room and the brick wall right outside my window that was also loud. I downloaded an app and it was consistently 45 dB in the room with a vibration. It was like trying to sleep on an airplane.. The mattress was also really hard. My colleagues had less room noise but more street noise. So again, it might appeal to some but it's not what I expected for a Hilton.
- Dawn (9/5): Superb -
- Salanna (6/5): - Property had a mildew smell throughout and no storage for luggage and clothes
- Keonta (4/5): - AunJewel was great at check in. The hot water went out in the shower which became an inconvenience and required follow up to receive communication on the issue being addressed. Breakfast left much to be desired as it was cold and overpriced especially for only 6-7 items.
- Jeff (10/5): - Victor's was excellent
- Amanda (10/5): - Restaurant and staff excellent. Location great. Love the building. However the hotel should consider removing the stained carpet from rooms as there is a strong odor.
- Amanda (10/5): - Staff very courteous and helpful
- Luther (7/5): Good -
- Donna (10/5): - I loved the restoration and history. Downtown Florence is quaint and well-kept. The room was comfortable and the staff welcoming. The food in the restaurant is very good.
- Josdin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neda (8/5): Hotel with character - Staff was great, room was very good. It was very noisy outside and you can hear everything if you face the front.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I enjoyed the historical feature of the hotel. It was a refurbished warehouse, which is what the Tapestry Hilton is. I also staying in one in Petersburg VA and it was the same style -- refurbished warehouse.
- Nancy (10/5): Trendy, boutique hotel in good location with excellent restaurant within. - Good design, great ambiance. I liked everything
- sarahtI8770NY (6/5): Felt unsafe in the parking lot - I booked this hotel because it was unique and seemed nice, and it was those things. However, I had concerns about it in other ways. We stayed on a Friday night and came back from a ballgame about 11:00pm. Evidently, the street where the hotel is much be where the bars are too. There were people everywhere, hanging out in the public parking lot where we were told to park and had thumping in some of the cars. My husband and I had to park at the very back of the parking lot and walk through the people hanging out to get to the hotel. To say we were a little anxious, is an understatement. It’s not a hotel for kids and I’m very thankful we didn’t have kids with us, based on some of the women’s outfits and the language these individuals were using. When we went to our car the next morning, there were beer bottles and chicken wing bones in several places. Regarding the hotel itself, it was pretty cool. The old wood floors and brick walls were original and nice. The bathroom n our room needed a good cleaning with a little mildew in the shower and dirty back of the door. The bed was comfortable and the feather pillows were great. The room did not have a mini fridge or a closet. I felt it was a bit overpriced for what we got.
- Juan (10/5): - Good
- brittc699 (10/5): Quaint hotel- friendly staff - Beautiful historic hotel set on a quaint old downtown block. We stayed for one night on our way to Savannah. Very easy access to 95 and also had a fantastic restaurant. There was no closet in the room but places for hanging. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and the restless fantastic.
- PAMELA (10/5): - Awesome
- Ronnie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronnie (10/5): Exceptional -
- bodfish (4/5): Disappointing - What a disappointment. No refrigerator or microwave in any of the rooms. I reserved a king suite and the initial room didn’t have a closet! Finally got changed to a queen suite that at least had a closet.
One good thing is the unaffiliated restaurant off the lobby. Excellent meal.
- blair (8/5): - Great old town historic feel. Would definitely recommend to others visiting the area. Enough restaurants in walking distance.
- Biztravr (10/5): Great Place down town - Very Cool Downtown location with some nice walkable places to eat. Very Good workout room and two bars in the hotel. Breakfast was pretty good as well. Rooms are large and unique as the building is vintage. Overall if you want to stay in Florence Proper this is the place
- Jonathan (6/5): No good for price old building - Bed was comfortable Floor loud. Can here everyone walking
Can hear a train
- Kathryn (10/5): - Charming and in a cute downtown area.
- hbhakh (6/5): Nice hotel - While we enjoyed our stay, this hotel is a little hard to score. There were a lot of things we enjoyed but also a few issues.
We enjoyed the downtown location and the renovation of the historic building is well done. The hotel has lots of character. Our room was very nice. It was a suite.....large and clean. The staff were great......the agent who checked us in was outstanding. She was friendly and very helpful. The other staff we encountered were also very nice. The on-site restaurant, Victor's, is very good.
There were a few things we didn't like. While our room was a large and was a suite, there was no door between the living area and bedroom (the purpose of a suite). The AC was difficult to use. It was a wall mount, ductless unit. I couldn't get it to work....the staff came up and started it for us. The phone in our room was missing. Not a big deal until we needed to call the desk ref. the AC. The bedroom TV cut in and out....probably a connection issue. Also, the water pressure was awful and the only provided bar soap wasn't much bigger than a half dollar. I don't know why anyone would want to use rosemary and chamomile body wash......I just want deodorant soap (in bar form). Finally, there was a fitness center but it was very small.
Most of our dislikes were minor......hopefully, they'll be addressed. We are likely to return.
- William (10/5): Unique and Nice!! - Always a nice clean and comfortable stay!! Doesn’t feel like your traditional hotels!!
- Julie (6/5): - The room was very small. Carpet was stained/dirty. Restaurant on site was good. It was close to other restaurants.
- John (10/5): - Refurbished hotel in an old bank. Nice stay.
- Rhonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): - Rooms were so clean & so fresh. Pillows & beds so comfortable & the ambiance is spectacular. Great hotel as well as the staff. Everyone is so friendly
- Andrew (8/5): - Check in person not pleasant. Did not smile or was welcoming in any way or offer any suggestions for dining. Did not show us where elevator was located when there’s no sign. Disinterested attitude.
- Alkaneice (10/5): - It was for me and my husband to get away
- Mary (10/5): Pleasant - Area and staff Lack of better parking
- 677jeannes (10/5): A Refreshing Break - Hotel Florence offers everything I want in a getaway: comfortable, upscale rooms in an architecturally- interesting building from the 1800s; a gourmet restaurant; a spa (massages! Perfect relaxation!); a casual, cozy wine bar; and walkability (try nearby Lulu's coffee for espresso drinks like my fav Great Gatsby).
It is a great place to take a break (which we have done on travels between Florida and Pennsylvania) and step out of your day-to-day life to catch your breath!
- TravelCouple1995 (4/5): Once and Done - Just want to mention that the Hotel Manager was great!
The first front desk person seemed put off by us getting there early. Did not tell us that the restaurant closed at 3PM, otherwise we would have had lunch at the restaurant and waited for the room to become available.
Breakfast was not great. I have had better at DoubleTree and at DoubleTree with our food vouchers if one of does not eat they will normally just comp both vouchers for the one person and breakfast is free. Did not happen here.
- CRRinVA (6/5): Cool hotel if you can sleep through the noise - I will start with the good and then the bad. The good was it’s a cool, historical building, with a nice, fun bar and lovely restaurant. The food and the cocktails were good and our server was very attentive. The staff were super pleasant and I enjoyed talking with them.
Parking was bizarre as there is no dedicated parking for the hotel; you have to find street parking or find a parking garage and hike. The street noise is crazy loud and bless you if you can sleep through the Harleys cruising the block all night. I couldn’t. I understand that this isn’t something the hotel can control, but location can be factored into a review and the noise was insane.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay there again.
- Taysha (10/5): My homegirl and I stayed in the hotel to go to a performance and when I say the room was spacious clean and worth every - The cleanliness, location, and great customer service N/A
- Loretta (4/5): - This was a nice hotel and would have gotten a much better review, had it been disclosed that a train passes by every 20 minutes throughout the night. It felt like it was headed straight for us. Also, service at Vic’s was slow.
- Stacey (2/5): Won’t book there again. - Clean room There were parties going on outside our room, so there was no noise canceling, the property said it had its own garage parking which was a lie, had to park in public parking. Was not happy. The cost for the room was ridiculous. Could have stayed at a 4 star hotel for that price. The pictures on their and you website were nothing like the property. Felt duped
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb -
- Ronald (10/5): A joy to have stayed at the hotal. - Good Herting &cooling.
- Erin (6/5): Always stay here - Beautiful old building . Room service!! Sink didn’t work
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Very nice boutique hotel with spa gym and a very good restaurant on the main level. Very charming setting in a very walkable downtown. neighborhood clise to shops and restaurants.
- Jesse (10/5): - Great location and cool historic building.
- Mchowarddd (6/5): Just ok - I couldn't stay again. The elevator was broken and there wasn't a closet for fridge in the room. The front desk staff were not very friendly. They gave us a free breakfast but it was mediocre at best. I will say that the hotel is in a good location.
- Jack (6/5): - A little more attention to detail is needed
Property has slipped since opening
- Sara (9/5): Superb -
- U3709PYstephanies (10/5): Excellent Hotel, Restaurant, and Spa! - Hotel is excellent - remodeled building with a great boutique feel! Room was quite expansive and Victor's restaurant was great! The Spa was also phenomenal - had a 90 min massage with Michal and it was seriously one of the best massages I've ever had. If I lived in Florence, I'd be back every week! Michal was amazing and worked through some pain in my neck and upper back!!
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Monica (10/5): - 😊
- Eddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (6/5): - Rooms are outdated, old building , very basic, airconditioning falls apart/dirty/very noisy, however front desk staff was nice.
No service at the restaurant, breakfast is horrible. (Skip this place)
- Kara (6/5): - The ceiling fan in the bathroom was absolutely filthy, and it was clear that the rug had not been vacuumed. Just an overall feeling that the property was tired and needed attention.
- Nathan (8/5): Very good -
- Cliff (10/5): Exceptional -
