Guest Reviews
- Marijeni (1/5): - Stay away from this. Its basically a 3 bedrommed house with an elderly woman staying in it lodging it out. So you will be given the 2 spare rooms to stay in. However the lady was welcoming although the comfort and privacy was compromised Unpleasant outside and inside. Bad location and it's a house being temporarily being lodged out.

- Nick (9/5): - The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and provided a suitable one-night stop on my journey. The breakfast was excellent and provided welcome nourishment for the day ahead. The Proprietor was very friendly and most helpful in dealing with my late arrival.
- sadie (10/5): - Outstanding welcome from Gwyneth.. So warm and friendly. Made me feel so at home.!!

- Tudor (10/5): Was treated with total respect , made me feel at home , albeit for one night .What more could I ask - The lady proprietor was really lovely. Made me a late meal when I arrived late from Pewsey Gave me maps in the morning for onward travel and we exchanged lots of stories! Not a modern house but as homely as you could get . I made the right choice , no doubt about that and will keep in touch with her . Nothing to be critical of in my opinion.

Ruhig. Der Porridge ist herrlich lecker am Morgen. -
- Babb (8/5): Lovely stopover for a tired cyclist - Gwyneth was very welcoming. She made me a nice cup of tea and recommended a good restaurant to eat in the evening. Lovely breakfast in the morning.
- Ruth (9/5): Excellent Hospitality - Breakfast was great and public transport is accessible to all near towns Nothing to dislike
- Erin (10/5): sweet comfy stay - I had quite a lovely night of sleep at this sweet spot. the bedroom was lovely, there was tea/coffee available, a great hot private shower, a sweet pup and a delicious breakfast at the hour of my choosing. plenty of space to park and walkable to town. easy drive to Avebury from here too. had a lovely chat about plants with the owner too. would def stay here again nothing
- philip (7/5): You get what you pay for - Good location Basic facilities, small TV
- Adebowale Timothy (1/5): - I don't like the roo, even though I didn't sleep there, i pay for another hotel in Swindon on the same night because it's a shared flat and with the look i see I'm not saved. I don't like it, and it was late i can't cancel that's how I wasted my £83

- Belinda (10/5): special - The stay with Gwen was great, even though it was only for one night Gwen made me feel right at home and took care of all my needs. The breakfast provided was also good and gave me a great start to the day. That I wished I had stayed longer.
- Adetola (6/5): Pleasant -
- G (10/5): Great stay - Cozy and comfortable
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Comfortable if slightly dishevelled room. Fabulous shower.
I don't think the fridge was working.
Charming proprietor. ..we WILL have breakfast next time!!😊 The whole house needs to be redecorated.
But Gwynneth knows that.
- Netter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chad (10/5): Very good - Excellent host N/a
- Westley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Efedjare (6/5): Pleasant - Great conversation , friendly 👌 good services
- Alistair (2/5): disappointing room but quality host. - Booking.com gave me the wrong postcode so I initially went to the wrong end of town. Gweneth did her best to email me information however I was driving so didn't access the details until much later and took me 1 hour and several requests from locals for directions to actually locate her property. Room was basic yet advertised as 3 star hotel - was in fact a room in a house with no signage so very difficult to locate and a I would describe it as a basic room. I left early re work so can't comment on breakfast.
- Collingborn (8/5): Lovely homely Bed and Breakfast - Lovely homely Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Calne.Gwyneth was an amazing host and Daisy the dog was adorable, so friendly, (as was Gwyneth). Nice comfy room and amazing breakfast, great ingredients, loved the seeded sourdough bread. Nothing
- Allen (5/5): See above review - In respect you get what you pay for , and to fair the room was clean although it was rather dated , brewing facilities were ok , television was too small , for a one night stay on a tight budget it’s ok TV
- Chad (9/5): Wonderful - Very good venue, serene atmosphere and very good host, helpful, polite and friendly. N/a
- Valentin (9/5): Superb -
- Bret (10/5): Exceptional - Charming property, good breakfast and the loveliest host. Nothing.
- Elizabeth (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at the B&B but probably would not stay in Calne again because of the lack of sto - The location is very good. It is walking distance from the town. It is on a quiet street & there is plenty of parking on the street. Gwyneth (the host) is lovely; so friendly & welcoming. Breakfast was also very good. No complaints about the B&B itself but Calne is seriously lacking in places to eat. There is really only one restaurant, Italian, which has very good food. But be sure to make a reservation as it is basically "the only game in town". There is an Indian restaurant as well but it was not open the nights we were there. Also a couple of pubs, but they don't serve food, or at least not on the nights we were there.
- Richman (10/5): Exceptional - Friend indeed
- Dunnill (10/5): Very friendly owner and Daisy the dog, like home from home. Lovely Breakfast. - Very friendly owner and Daisy the dog, like home from home. Lovely Breakfast and happy to follow my diet preferences. Nothing
- Sarah (3/5): Not very private - Good breakfast The owner entered my room after I had booked in, and the dog kept coming into my room.
- Sarah (3/5): Breakfast was ok. - Breakfast The dog coming in, lack of privacy
- Pauline (10/5): Despite a late arrival and last minute booking she was extremely helpful, I slept wonderfully well. -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (8/5): Splendid - thanks Gwyneth! - Breakfast - genial host - Daisy the dog........
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Hugh (6/5): Pleasant - This is a B&B at the lower end of the price scale. All I needed was a clean, safe place close to my meeting the next day.
The B&B met this requirement. Parking on a quiet residential road.
- Philip (8/5): It is an old fashioned b&b with a lovely host and friendly dog to welcome you. - Value for money. Breakfast sounded great! I look forward to it on the next stay,,😊
- Lindy (9/5): Superb - There are lots of different types of accommodation, this not a hotel, it is a bed and breakfast and is a home from home. I was greeted by Gwyneth and Daisy her dog. The stay was like being at family home. A super comfy bed and really nice size room and lovely wet room, plenty of space. There was a variety of teas and coffee, fresh milk was a pleasure and the fresh strawberries were delicious. Breakfast was lovely and was nice to chat with Gwyneth and Daisy over breakfast as I was travelling alone. It is also situated close to town so you don't have to take the car. I will definitely return to stay Nothing
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Great communication, so quiet in the evening, super breakfast, very friendly host.
- Melody (8/5): Very pleasant stay in a lovely house with very nice hostess. Would stay there again. - Very helpful location, near the centre of the town.
Hostess was very friendly as was her little dog. Nice cosy comfy room with all expected facilities.
- Bartlett (10/5): Enjoyed it very much - Warm welcome All great
- Haitch (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Val (5/5): Lovely host. Description needs updating. - The host was very friendly with lots of knowledge of the area. She recommended a lovely Italian restaurant for an evening meal. The photos of the garden do not match the state of the front and back garden which are now a 'wildlife garden'.
The host has a dog.
The host had a visiting dog that she let on our bed which she fussed whilst she sat on the bed when showing us our room.
There were issues with the shower control, the front door handle and the lock to the room.
On serving breakfast, there was eggshell on a poached egg that she tried to flick out with her nail!
This has been a difficult review to write as the host is trying her hardest and is a very friendly lady.
Sadly not value for money and not as described. If we hadn't prepaid we probably wouldn't have stayed there.
- Susan (8/5): Very good value and comfortable, with a warm welcome and a chance to see hedgehogs! - Breakfast was really excellent. Best quality ingredients and plenty. Choice was more than adequate. Hostess was welcoming and good company. For the price, nothing.
- Nick (5/5): Passable -
- Karen (3/5): Disappointing and expensive experience - The breakfast was delicious.
The dog was friendly Difficult to find, we had to ask local people, no markings on the property even though it was just in a normal street.
Very brusque host, we arrived at 4.05 (check in time stated 4 to 9) were told quite rudely that we were early.
Grubby feel, nothing like the photo. Had to ask for shampoo (to be told, ‘most people prefer their own’) which was mouldy. See picture of shampoo bottle
Jam mouldy at breakfast urgh
Furnishings and room very tired, reminiscent of a 1960s seaside b and b
- Ekenberg (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable bed, nice personal
- Paul (10/5): Sheer delight in Calne - Superb place a short walk from the Town centre. Really comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast which set me up for a very successful day. Nothing. All good
- Peter (9/5): A pleasant stay in Calne - A comfortable room with an easy chair, a small fridge, books to read and even a few generic medicines in the bathroom cabinet in case of a headache! Calne is a bit spread out as far as attractions go, so you can't get about much on foot.
- Barbara (9/5): Friendly and homely. - Very friendly welcome from Gwyneth, excellent breakfast (lovely porridge, and perfect poached eggs!) - we also loved hearing about her enthusiasm for saving the local hedgehogs! Very comfortable stay and very homely. Loved meeting Daisy the dog.
- Gareth (8/5): Warm and welcoming stay with lovely breakfast. - Lovely genuine warm welcome from Gwyneth and her little dog Daisy. Our room was clean and comfortable with an en-suite shower/wet room, a small TV, plenty of storage and comfy bed. The mini fridge was a nice touch and we were offered fresh milk for our tea in the morning rather than those silly cartons. After a good nights sleep breakfast was delicious with great coffee. House is set in a nice quiet and safe street 15 mins walk from the centre of Calne. Room is a little old fashioned but not necessarily an issue.
- Lee (10/5): Home from home - Warm and welcoming hosts, both Daisy and Gwynedd!
Down to earth, charming little house.
I stay in a lot of soulless hotels with work and it was so nice to feel 'at home'.
- Robert (8/5): Friendly, relaxing and just what I needed from a bed and breakfast. - Gwyneth was a great host and could not do enough to ensure I had a relaxing stay. A great breakfast and a very safe neighbourhood. Nothing.
- Rosalind (5/5): Passable -
- Francis (3/5): Poor -
- Derek (8/5): Homely. You share a house with a lovely lady and her dog. - Homely, clean and quiet. The host Gwyneth is a very charming bohemian lady and the place is stocked with so many interesting books. She is lovely to talk with and very helpful. The garden is overgrown because of Gwyneth’s love of nature ( long grass for the hedgehogs and wild flowers and an uncut hedge for the bees) so the look from the outside was rather surprising. It didn’t detract from my visit though at all.
- Richard (9/5): Gwyneth went above and beyond to look after us - Breakfast was excellent All was fine
- Kaylow (1/5): Bad - Bad house
Bad area
Over grown garden
Outdated pictures of the accommodation .
Total over priced The house was not suitable for purpose the garden back and front where not like the picture on your web sight tot overgrown the area outside was terrible not the sort of place people would expect to get sent to by Booking. Com and very much over priced i could get a room at the savoy on the seafront in Blackpool cheaper than i paid for this stay i am seriously disappointed in having been sent to this just a private house renting unacceptable bed rooms at £55 a night and you where advertising room them morning i left for £80 plus unacceptable from you .

- Ronald (6/5): Pleasant - Directions to accomodation could be better.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzie (8/5): Very good - Easy to find, plenty of street parking, friendly welcome, good breakfast !
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allison (8/5): A little gem with superb breakfasts in Calne. - The location was perfect for us. Plenty of on road parking, super quiet, easy to find. The owner was in contact with us with full address and other useful information before we arrived. She ran through all the facilities with us - shower, front door key etc. The room was furnished ‘shaker style’ with rugs on floorboards and mismatched furniture, rather than ultra modern and all matching, which we liked. All the facilities that we look for were there ( kettle, mugs, hanging and storage space, tv, nice big towels, comfy bed, warm and cosy, local information, good wifi). The owner cooked us a very tasty full English breakfast both days, with proper coffee, home made marmalade, quality toast and we could have had freshly squeezed orange juice if we had wanted. Nothing in particular. It’s like staying with a relative rather than in a b&b.
- Jubin (1/5): A night mare - Only the lady was good.very poor stay
- 443361875 (10/5): Calne b&b - Upon ringing the bell I was met by Daisy. A friendly dog eager to meet and greet. Gwyneth the owner also appeared. It's a super little room ideal for my stays in Calne, I slept well and it's nice and quiet.
It's very close to town and the industrial estate where I work.
The porridge and toast for breakfast sets the day up very well.
So far I've stayed twice and booked in again for next week! Nowt!
- Bradbury (7/5): I loved it. Great fun, and an authentic experience. - Hostess Gwenyth was an absolute delight. The location was convenient and central.
- Wayne (10/5): Absolutely excellent going to use regularly - Excellent house perfect facilities very welcoming and the owner is one in a million Nothing for me
- Konstantinos (2/5): Very poor -
- Koszela (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place and even better service. I recommend it to everyone who appreciates peace and quiet.
- Phillippa (10/5): Very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere - Lovely homely atmosphere, friendly and helpful, daisy the dog was adorable. bed was lovely, shower was wonderful!
- Eduardo (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (7/5): Good - Ideal for working person whom will not be spending much time at the property. Would describe the place as functional and quite dated, though everything works. The star of this place though is the owner, Gwyneth. When I have work again in this area I will definitely be staying again.
- Cliff (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly convenient to Borwood House
- Sarah (7/5): Lovely to meet Gwyneth. Great breakfast! Value for money - Very good breakfast with good quality ingredients. Quite dated interior of the room but comfortable and Gwyneth the host was lovely . The furnishings in the room were quite dated
- Johanna (6/5): Pleasant -
- Justinas (8/5): Very good - All good for the price you pay.Good and quet place to stay.Comfy bed are bonus.
- Graham (8/5): Hedgehog heaven! - A very chatty, quirky, environmentally friendly hostess!
A comfyish bed. Breakfast was rather limited. Only a sherry glass worth of orange juice! No cereal. Child's portion for cooked breakfast.
- Redpath (8/5): Very good - Gwyneth was very helpful and pleasant. Bed was comfy I needed a good sleep . Breakfast was provided as asked and on time. The room was rather small and there was no sign on door or in garden so I had to knock on neighbours doors .!
- Anonymous (8/5): Charming character and warm hostess:) comfortable room :) - My Hostess was warm and welcoming and has a fun character and charm I enjoyed :) She also had great info on crop circles and helped find the nearest one for me to visit!:)
- Anna (3/5): Poor -
- Brian (3/5): Poor -
- Arkadiusz (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice host. Breakfast also very good. Super comfortable bed
- Philip (8/5): Comfortable accommodation, great host. - A comfortable, good sized room if a little bit tired in places but overall it offers decent value accommodation. Plenty of on street parking in a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. The host Gwyneth is very welcoming and interesting character, I could have talked to her all day! Star of the show is Gwyneth's trusty sidekick Daisy, what a lovely dog.
Good freshly cooked breakfast was a great start to my day.
