Guest Reviews
- Angela (8/5): - The location of this hotel is what sells it. Less than 100m to the U Bahn with a grocery store and bakery across the street. You are essentially diagonal from the KaDeWe department store which shows you that you are at the center of it all. Countless shopping and dining options within easy walking distance.
One area of improvement for this hotel - the bedding. One thin pillow per guest is inadequate. Also, the thin mattress topper on top of a box caused a nonstop battle throughout the night to keep the topper and sheets from sliding off into the floor.
As bad as the bedding situation was, I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
- Lisa (10/5): - This place is perfect for a solo traveler on a budget. This is my favorite area in Berlin, and it’s close to everything you need. Restaurants, shopping, the subway, and the best store in the world, Kadewe!!! I’ve been coming to this area for years and I’m glad that I found this hotel within my budget in the area. It was clean, and perfect for 1 person. The rooms are small, but cozy and very clean. It was quiet at night and off the street so there was no noise. The staff is very friendly, spoke English, and always was helpful and kind. The breakfast was ok, I’ve had bigger (and more expensive), there’s a bit of everything so the variety was nice. I will say though that the guests at breakfast were very rude, so if you’re not ready for it best be prepared. I got a lot of dirty looks, people cutting in front of me, and also a guest thought I worked there and very rudely whistled at me to clean up his table. I laughed and flipped him off, what a rude jerk. Anyway, the hotel is perfect for solo travelers and I would stay here again in a heart beat. Thanks for making my long stay there a great one Ibis!!!!
- Hazel (10/5): - Check in quick and smooth. Lovely spacious room and comfy bed. Very good breakfast. Just a couple of minutes walk from train station so very convenient for getting around Berlin. Would definitely stay again.
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent stay during the Berlin marathon. Helpful staff and great breakfast choices. Near Ubahn, near lots of shops and cafes. Great location.
- Chris (6/5): - Great hotel location wise but €17 for a breakfast with no toast and very little options. Rooms are very small tho.
- Brydie (10/5): - Clean room, subway right next to hotel
- Martin (10/5): - Lovely hotel, ideal for a short city break stay, and close to good transport links. The staff were all lovely, very helpful and friendly.
- Hung (6/5): - The surrounding area was dirty. However, it’s the centre of shopping that I liked.
- Toby (10/5): Solid - You know what you're getting with an Ibis Hotel, this was a decent one. We were just a short walk from decent supermarkets, breakfast bakeries and cafes.
- Wendy (8/5): - Shower was not great. Low water pressure. Really hot, then suddenly really cold or vice a versa. :(
- Hiromi (10/5): - Good breakfast. Staff was kind. Spacious shower room was also good.
- Zhila (8/5): - The room keys and parking needed to update for any using
- Monica (8/5): - I really liked the location of the hotel. The area is safe and close to a grocery store and many restaurants. The train was also very close. There were just a couple of things that I found to be inconvenient. There was no space in the bathroom to put clothes and barely enough space for towels. I also wish there were drawers in the nightstand or something instead of a rolling closet with shelves.
- I (10/5): My 4 day berlin break - The hotel is nice and clean ,the staff are friendly its in a great location right by the ubahn what more do you need...I have been coming to berlin for 28 years i would definitely stay again👍
- Boz (8/5): - Great Location and Parking
- Jurgen (8/5): - Overall very satisfied with price to performance.
- Simon (10/5): Nice hotel - Very nice hotel. The area isn’t perfect, but I suppose it’s like that anywhere in a major city. It’s also close to a supermarket, and transportation. Great hotel.
- Manchi (6/5): - This is a good hotel overall for the price range. Pretty well located. with quite a lot of shopping facilities around. My only complaint would be the mattresses are un little bit hard. And people banged their doors noisily so I got waken up early in the morning by those noise.
- David (8/5): Great Location, Decent Breakfast, Tiny Room - Location was ideal for us near to a subway, gay district and short walk to tiergarden. The room was really small though so would recommend for a short stay only. Nowhere really to unpack clothes for a slightly longer stay like ours.
- Nicolas (10/5): - Great location, clean and convenient, would stay there again
- Catalina (2/5): - The property does not turn on the AC unless it’s 25 degrees Celsius or more, the windows barely open so if you try to reduce the heat and stuffiness by opening the windows you’ll only succeed at letting all the street noises in—drunks screaming, garbage truck at 6am. I didn’t sleep a wink. Luckily they let me check out after one night.
I did ask about the issue at checkin and the front desk guy told me the AC was just slow and it would cool down on 20 min. After 20 min I was switched rooms. It wasn’t until the next morning that they disclosed they simply didn’t turn on the AC until it was boiling hot. In June, this was a solid no.
I would have appreciated honesty from the front desk staff and o could have avoided one sleepless night entirely.
- Stefan (10/5): - Great hotel great staff who were very accommodating, helpful and friendly, room was great and so was the area. Plenty to do and see and the Ubahn stop right outside is super convenient for getting around
- Russell (8/5): - Good accommodation in a nice part of the City
- Madison (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here! It’s in a very convenient area with a lot of transit stations/stops and plenty of restaurants. The hotel was super clean and it was all around a great stay!
- Olusola (10/5): - Nice
- Mathias (10/5): - convenient location,
- David (10/5): - All
Good
- Kevin (10/5): - Nice staff
- Tommi (10/5): - It is a very good hotel in it's class. My room had quality materials and build. Perfectly clean room. Personnel is friendly and professional. Neigbourhood has KaDeWe-department store, Berlin Zoo and lively street with authentic curry wurst -booths.
- Sebastien (8/5): - The overall experience was positive and i'd stay there again. Location is great, close to U (metro), with restaurants and bars close-by. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Only negative notes: no mini-bar, not enough irons especially during ITB when you know you shall have such requests, and the housekeeping where making the room is barely about placing the blanket and changing floor towel.
- Tommi Ilari (8/5): - It’s a very good hotel in its class. My room, wc and shower are of quality materials and build. Good bed. The room has one window is approx. 1 m wide and 1,4 m high. Not too small, but smaller than in most hotels. Actually the TV is almost same size. A fairly basic breakfast. Lobby doesn’t have a business hotel -feel, but rather a back bag traveller-feel. Staff seems very kind and professional.
- Roopa (6/5): - Toilet tissue holder broken. No closet and tight accommodation. Unfriendly staff - They did not like that we booked through Expedia, made a face about it. Breakfast was supposed to be included but we were asked to pay for it!
- Stephen (8/5): - Good value hotel in a convenient location at Wittenbergplatz, near restaurants, the KaDeWe and in walking distance to the Ku’damm.
- Charan (8/5): - All good
- Gustavo (10/5): - Perfect
- Jeremy (10/5): - The hotel’s location is excellent and is a 2 minute walk to the U-bahn. Shopping, restaurants, and bars are all nearby. Although the area is bustling, it is safe and overall quiet. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is big. Staff is friendly, efficient, and competent. The only minor drawbacks are that the bed doesn’t not have a bedsheet to get under, and there is no refrigerator. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!!!
- Lesley (10/5): - Very good value for a Berlin hotel. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Considering this is a budget hotel the continental style breakfasts had a nice variety including the ability to make your own fresh waffles in 2 minutes. Staff were very friendly and although no bar there is a self service area with beers, wines etc, plus snacks.
- Gemma (10/5): - The hotel was conveniently placed by an underground station and lots of shops and places to eat. The hotel was manned late so even though we arrived late after a flight delay, we were able to check in and get to speak to a human being.
The rooms were sufficient. Clean, enough space for everything we needed (and I am an unpacker) and the bathroom was immaculate.
We slept well and didn't hear anybody else or get woken up. The room was very dark when the curtains were drawn.
I would stay at this hotel again.
- SHRIKESH (8/5): - Great location. Next to train and bus station, easily access Berlin and local amenities. All walking distance. Good for shopping.
Breakfast price should be reduced. The restaurant area could be better utilised. Hotel is in prime location. !
- Philip (6/5): - War ok
- Matthew (10/5): - Convenient location and very reasonably priced.
- Joseph (10/5): Style and comfort in Berlin - We stayed with a mid sized group of 24 people. The hotel check in was smooth and friendly. Rooms were basic but well designed and extremely comfortable no complaints with this hotel or it’s service.
- Chad (10/5): - Great location
- mark (10/5): - Local tram 100 is ideal at top of street for getting to attractions. Hotel was clean and nice
- Catherine (10/5): Good location. - Very clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the location. There were many bars and restaurants nearby. There was a market in the park across the street one morning. It was great for grabbing lunch.
As a traveler from the United States, the one thing they didn’t have that I missed was a mini fridge in the room. I survived.
- Arlene (10/5): - In the center of everything within walking distance. I felt super safe in this area.
- Marian (10/5): - Good value for money, excellent location.
- Daniel (8/5): - Location was superb. Staff at the hotel were good and responsive to any needs that arose. A recommended hotel.
- TJF (6/5): Good - Great location, very close to u-bahn station, and good service from staff. Rooms were clean and fairly spacious.
We were woken at 2am by a disabled alarm going off in our room which the staff were unable to turn off, but they did move us to another room and gave us complimentary breakfast for the rest of our stay, so the staff were helpful.
- Keith (10/5): - Exceptional experience. Impeccable service, luxurious amenities, and a stunning atmosphere. From check-in to check-out, every moment was delightful. Can't wait to return!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location, enjoyed our stay - Excellent location, just 100m to U-Bahn, small supermarket & bakery across the street, two restaurants less than 2 minutes away. Friendly staff. Self-service bar was useful setup. Surprisingly quiet at night, we slept with the window open. - But who designed the bathroom door? Frosted glass blocks out visibility, however light at night is bright enough to illuminate the room!
- Jacob (10/5): - Location!!!
- maria (8/5): - We stayed for 4 nights and the overall stay was good.Although the room was not big enough space for our luggages but it workout well. The property has easy access to food, dining, shopping and transportation.Staff are friendly. The buffet breakfast was good too but a little bit pricey. But overall stay was good.0
- Chris (10/5): - Excellent location with a supermarket and several restaurants within 2 minutes walk. 1 minute walk to the U-Bahn. Excellent hotel staff.
- Matthew (10/5): - Excellent location close to Berlin Zoo and the nearby train station. The staff were very friendly.
- Andy (10/5): - Modern hotel, recently refurbished rooms, basic but clean and everything you need for a city break. Friendly staff. Good location for transport links, number of restaurants and bars close by.
- Renalie (10/5): - The hotel os clean and walkable to supermarket, mall and Ubanh
- Cevat (10/5): - The area was excellent the hotel itself is located in a great area - however the room is very small tiny actually but since we were only in it to sleep in for few hours we didn’t mind.
- Jin Ag (8/5): - It’s efficient hotel w reasonable price but has everything you need. Clean and simple hotel. Very nice location. Close to subway, Kadewe department store, and zoo. I recommend this hotel for travelers who like to be efficient
- Dzintars (10/5): - In general all good with this property. Tough a bit better isolation of shower cabin would be much appreciated, as some water was leaking out to the floor. And some shelfs in the room would be very useful.
Location is great.
- Ross (10/5): - Very convenient excellent location. Good Italian restaurant (Antica Roma) just round the corner.
- Sam (10/5): - The Ibis at Wittenberg platz had always been one of my favourite places to stay while visiting Berlin. It is only 2 minutes from a main ubahn station, and close to many shops and restaurants. The hotel is always clean and with friendly staff.
- Stephan (6/5): - Our room felt a bit claustrophobic, with a relatively small window. The glass door to the bathroom was not appreciated by everyone in the family.
- MASAHIRO (8/5): - It was well renovated. the room was also more spacious than before.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great things and... some not-so-great. - Great people. They did a great job; let me check in early after a rough travel day.
Awful HVAC. The AC at this place - from the other reviews I should have read on this place - was very weak. It even broke during my stay during a heat wave (90*F/32*C).
Great Location. The hotel is right next to the U1, 2, and 3 lines which meant that everything in the city was easy to get to. It was also very easy to get to the hotel from the airport (S9, U1/3) and back (U2, RE8) IN about an hour.
Food is crazy expensive. The breakfast buffet (€15) really is pricey. The snack area is about a 3-fold mark up of the grocery store right across the street. Yes, convenience costs, but it was a little much for me.
In all, I would stay here again - perhaps not in summer and with a plan on getting snacks at the grocery store and not at the hotel. Lots of bakeries in the area and in the U station, head there for breakfast.
The people and location make this a great locale worthy to visit again.
- Paul Alfredo (8/5): - Good place to move to and shoping
- Dzianis (10/5): - Great place and people, thank you
- Kimberly (10/5): - We found this at the last minute…what a wonderful surprise. We walked all over the downtown area from this hotel. There were several wonderful dining options and shopping galore. High end shopping as well as tourist shops. We planned a day at the Zoo and it was only a 10min walk. Perfect.
The hotel itself is clean and rooms exceeding our expectations. Very clean with a comfortable bed and great linen. Would definitely stay here again.
- Sujal (6/5): - Staff was very good, breakfast was good, rooms are OK… Internet was down for entirety of the stay which was a massive inconvenience.. a bit far from central Berlin so took a while to get around to the interesting areas..
- Tamara (10/5): - I was very satisfied
- Dale (8/5): Great Location, Small Room Good place to stay - Clean, fairly comfortable, small room
Great Location
- Karen (8/5): - Check in and check out were super easy. Room was perfect for our needs. My only real complaint is there was no conditioner in the shower. The area is very convenient to get around Berlin.
- SIMONETTA (10/5): - Remodeled ibis, great rooms, breakfast, quiet and great location. Needs to provide a safe box in the room
- Joseph (8/5): - allowing smoking directly in the entry way is disgusting and could be easily solved simply by moving the trash can ash tray away from the doorway
- Nataliya (8/5): - Nice location. Friendly stuff. Rooms are extremely small no refrigerator, coffee maker. AC didn’t work! I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great basic hotel for my young son and myself - Great location, close to good transport links and good selection of local restaurants. Hotel was basic, but comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.
- Michael (2/5): - Although it was advertised ad being refurbished, in fact the refurbishment is ongoing. Unluckily my room was right above the current work and so impossible to be there between 10am and 6pm on weekdays. When I tried to chat with a guy at reception about it he was very offhand and rude. A very disappointing stay.
- Alex (10/5): - My boyfriend and i had a wonderful experience here. The location is great with many tourist activities nearby. The room itself was spotless, towels and sheets changed daily. Overall, this was a really great trip and we would definitely stay here again.
- Philip (10/5): Lovely Berlin - Great hotel, centrally located, the staff at reception were extremely welcoming and allowed me to check in early as my room was ready. They also offered travel tips and advice.
My room was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and the bed was very comfortable.
- Joseph (6/5): - The property was undergoing some refurbishment but the signage is poor (on A4 paper with small writing and general statements). We were regularly woken up in the mornings by construction noises. Staff could have been more proactive and state specific times of when works would be done e.g. “we will start works at 08:30 and finish at 17:00 and unfortunately it will be noisy including drilling and hammering” or “There will be heavy drilling around 09:00 to 11:00”. Slipping notices under the door would also have been welcome as well. Otherwise, the stay was fair and the location excellent with close links to public transport. Breakfast was good but I did miss baked beans which would have been good with the eggs. Staff were great - particularly the night shift which is really welcomed.
- Eleni (10/5): - Nice environment, good service and the location is quite convenient!
- Stephanie (10/5): Great hotel for what you pay ! - Fabulous bargain hotel ! I can honestly say I have stayed in four star hotels less comfortable than this hotel. The rooms are small and basic however I found the beds to be extremely comfortable, I slept so well whilst at this hotel. The rooms are clean, charging ports are located next to the bed which is a must in hotels for me, the shower was fabulous. My only fault would be that the double bed should have more pillows, I hate to sleep with one pillow and would have liked another.
Rooms were quiet and we had no concerns with noise, breakfast was continental, I do prefer an English breakfast however considering I was in Germany I was understanding if this and actually found the selection of produce provided nice. I would definitely stay at this hotel again it’s in a fabulous area with great transportation links and I though only enjoyed my stay.
- Markus (8/5): - Excellent location in center of Kurfurstendamm; very close to subway and many shops & Weinachtsmarkt. Good soundproofing means quiet nights.
Rooms small but new, clean and modern. Well sized bathroom.
- Stefan (8/5): Staff could be a bit friendlier - What did I like the most about this property? They (still) have a blanket for two when you book a queen size bed. Most hotels nowadays give you two small blankets for a queen size bed.
Dislikes: squeaky bed, no trash bags for the trash bins, no channels in English (most of the channels are dubbed in German. Sorry guys, hotels are for international travelers too.
The front desk staff were respectful, but very cold and lacked flexibility. They almost forced us out of the room when we were five minutes late for checkout.
- Christian Werner (10/5): - The Ibis hotel was very well located for the underground station, only a 1 minute walk. The hotel was great value for it’s central location and the buffet breakfast were plentiful and set you up nicely for a day of sightseeing. The rooms were basic, but had all you needed and the bed was comfortable and nice bathroom. Would definitely recommend.
- Carmel (10/5): Great value for money! - We’ve really enjoyed staying at ibis Berlin Kurfuerstendamm and would definitely be back!
- Milan (8/5): - Excellent location, clean and comfortable place to stay
- Cheuk Hon (6/5): Poor housekeeping - The was hair at the bathroom counter on the first day, and another long hair (probably the housekeeper’s) at the sink on the second day. Also, one of the pillow case had dodgy brown stains on both sides.
- Eva Cecilie (10/5): Autumn week-end with small kid. - As always, excellent location and staff, super food, but cleanliness could improve.
- carolyn (8/5): - Adequate business hotel. Comfy bed
- Lilian (10/5): - Great location. Friendly staff
- Dietrich (8/5): - loved the location with kadewe across the street and transporttation only a few meters away. very basic but comfortable rooms and a friendly staff. recommended for this price point. had a great stay in berlin!
- MASAHIRO (6/5): - I stayed for business. There is no amenity at all except liquid soap and hand soap in the room, so I had to go to a nearby drugstore and buy some shampoo and other necessities. The room rate was not reasonable considering there was no amenity at all. The receptionists were not that friendly and seemed not professional.
But the location was very nice and confortable, I did enjoyed the local food and shopping.
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent front office staff - multilingual, helpful, efficient and friendly.
- Mark (10/5): Good hotel with great breakfast - Excellent clean Hotel. Fabulous breakfast. Good location next to U Bahn and short walk to Zoological station for trains to Potsdam.
- Nigel (8/5): Fun stay - Amazing David Bowie themed room with record player and LPs!!! Perfect for me as a massive Bowie fan. Also loved the Bluetooth disco ball!
Staff were great, helpful and friendly.
Only thing that would have been nice would have been tea/coffee in the room.
- John (10/5): Great location, friendly service - Great location near the underground. Wonder breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Would definitely stay there again. Only downside is no coffee and tea facilities in the room.
- Margaret (10/5): - Had a great stay
- Albert (10/5): Tasker in Berlin - I have stayed in Ibis hotel Bayreuther Str often. I know the staff are efficient / service / amenities are very good. The location suites my needs as I use this Ibis hotel as a base for my historical visits and is close to Ubahn & Sbahn. I will be using The Hotel again in a few weeks
