- Sean (10/5): - .
- Simon (10/5): - Very friendly welcome and great for a few days stay. Don't serve breakfast anymore but food can be sought close by. Highly recommended.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Very quiet, peaceful place. Shared bathroom and toilet , tea and coffee facilities.comfortable stay.
- Francis (10/5): - Great spacious room with king bed, lovely host who was very welcoming. Just a nice home from home feeling.
Great value and totally recommend.❤️
- Verified traveler (6/5): Honest Feedback - Loverly setting however the bed and especially the pillows are not good enough for a good nights sleep or comfort, I hand a ground room and at 22:30 the room above was used which for the rest of the night the gentleman may as well have been in my room with me and could hear every from TV, walking around and phones calls
WIFI poor also but have seen this reviews previously and it’s just a remote place but very peaceful so don’t plan on getting any work done on PC.
- Louise (10/5): Picturesque and welcoming... - Woodview itself, is so beautiful...set in the most wonderful place , surrounded by fields, so picturesque... julie, is so welcoming and she is amazing...such a lovely lovely lady.... willing to bend over backwards for you.... thoroughly recommend Woodview without a doubt....

- Paul (10/5): A great B&B in the Colchester area in a nice quiet - Enjoyed a great 2 night stay at the Woodview B&B recently. The friendly owner was very welcoming on our arrival showing us to the room we had booked. Located in a quiet village location, but only about 4-5 miles away from some major stores and a range of eating establishments. The room was very comfortable with on suite, tv and tea/coffee making facilities. A lovely breakfast was provided from a range of options. Thoroughly recommended
- John (10/5): Say hi to the parrot! - Lovely and welcoming B&B tucked away at the end of a quiet domestic street. Well decorated and spotlessly clean accommodation. Welcoming hostess and great selection of breakfast options.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing stay, will come again - I had a very enjoyable stay: very friendly host, house with a character, curious pets (a parrot and dogs)
- David (10/5): Quiet, comfortable and friendly B&B - We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. If you like quiet, this is for you as it is in a very quiet location There are no pubs or restraunts close by so you will have to drive for a meal but that was not a problem for us as it gives you a chance to explore the area a bit more. Overall, very happy.
- Chris&Mary (10/5): - A lovely surprise to find this historical hidden gem in a quiet location with a rural outlook. Our host Julie was friendly and efficient and made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this accommodation.
- Beverley (10/5): - Host was really friendly - lovely location - quiet and off the beaten track - breakfast was delicious with a very appetising fruit salad to follow - could not fault my stay in any way.
- Colin (8/5): A weekend break - Made to feel very welcomed. Good breakfast.
- Philip (8/5): Birch Getaway - Great stay!
- mellina (10/5): Fantastic - It was just wondering and wish I could spend more time there. Definitely will recommend to my family and friends.
- Yvonne (10/5): HOME FROM HOME - I have never taken the time to write a review even though I stay in hotels around once per week but my stay with Julie definitely warrants this. I was down for one night & fancied a change from the usual main stream hotels that I usually stay in for business. I shall now be staying with Julie every time I am in & around the Colchester area. What a lovely welcome & Julie couldn't have been more accommodating. The rooms were lovely as was breakfast. If you are looking for a great nights sleep & a wonderful breakfast stay here!!!
- Andy (10/5): Home from Home - Home from Home great to stay and feel so welcome.
- Richard (10/5): Lovely B&B near places to visit - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodview. We were made to feel very welcome from the beginning of our stay; we were impressed by the friendly staff who could not do enough for us to ensure our visit went smoothly. We enjoyed our breakfast which sustained us well into the day. The staff adapted well to individual needs of guests. If you enjoy a place that is in a village, near good road systems and has also got views over fields, woods and countryside then you will enjoy this. We enjoyed the fact that we were very central to all the places we wished to visit - such as Beth Chatto's garden and Constable Country.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay - A nice comfortable stay and very nice and friendly owner.
- Ian (10/5): The Ideal B&B - Julie always provides the warmest of welcomes and a perfectly balanced breakfast - we love our all too brief stays here.
- Neil (10/5): Lovely bed and breakfast - Had a lovely stay Julie was incredibly helpful and a fantastic breakfast
- Shirley (10/5): Quiet country venue. - I could not have chosen a nicer overnight stay. Superb breakfast ( my favourite meal)I would definitely recommend staying at the Woodview. Thanks, Julie.
- Tyler (10/5): Beautiful B&B - Had a great stay, very hospitable and friendly. Breakfast was lovely too, room and bathroom very clean and perfect for what I needed. Would definitely recommend.
- Diogenes (10/5): - Old-fashioned charm -- more like a room in one's own home than a hotel
- Janet (8/5): - Our room was very comfortable, garden is beautiful, owner was terrific, breakfast was great. My only complaint is the Internet is very spotty.
- Peter (8/5): Pleasant B&B near Colchester - The hosts at Lynch Cottage (aka Woodview B&B) could not have been pleasanter or more helpful. Our room, the one en suite accommodation, I believe, fit our over-nighting needs perfectly. It is at the very edge of town, so Hertz "Never Lost" will keep telling you you have arrived, when you have perhaps another 300 yards to go to the end of the road, where a sign will direct you to the place. Breakfast was enormous and delicious -- and well suited to the gluten free.
- tony (10/5): - a perfect bed and breakfast in a peaceful location in the countryside
- Ian (10/5): A Wonderful Break - Once again Julie gave us a really lovely stay with wonderful English breakfasts enhanced by fresh fruit salads.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful old house and garden. - Very lovely location with foot paths available near by. There are no stores or services close by so come prepared for that. Beautiful breakfast and comfy room.
- Geoffrey (10/5): A marvellous place to stay - We were house hunting in the area. An ideal base for this and hostess very informative about the area. A great placed to stay, five-plus stars!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great quiet location. - Host very welcoming. Great location for a quiet evening for a good nights sleep. Close to the zoo. Breakfast very nice & good selection of fruit & cereals. Full English breakfast.
- Caroline (10/5): - Lovely B & B. Very convenient for visiting the local school the following morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderfully presented B&B where we were hosted fantastically and made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. Highly appreciated and recommended.
- Paul (8/5): Nice & rural place to stay - Nice B&B in a quiet rural location with views across fields, Julie the owner was really helpful & welcoming, I'd happily recommended this B&B to anyone if you're staying in the area and like the peace and quiet it offers.
- Ian (10/5): A wonderful country retreat - Our second stay with our wonderful hostess Julie was just as enjoyable as the first - a really comfortable en-suite room with a superb breakfast - the only small issue was a very noisy occupant of the room above who woke at the crack of dawn.
- Mike (10/5): Comfortable B & B. Nice owner - Very helpful owners and room was excellent as was the full English breakfast.
Only minus point was trying to find the place, Expedia put address as "Mill lane, Colchester"
There are however three "Mill lanes" in Colchester!! Needless to say I tried the other two first and was driving around for a good hour. My satnav doesn't work with postcodes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stayed after a family event - Lovely welcome. A tip: If you are going to need transport back from the wedding venue I was at (layer marney tower), ask for advice from the b&b.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely experience - Stayed one night prior to an interview. The owner made me feel so welcome and at ease despite being busy with many other preparations.
- Leigh (8/5): Friends wedding stop over - Had a great nights stay at Woodview and is fantastically situated for Layer Marney Towers
- Meriel (8/5): Country pleasures - This B&B was as I suspected was hard to find with out GPS but once found it was easy to remember which country lane to take. The Lady was extremely accommodating and pleasant . One should however like dogs as there were 2 large German Shepards who had free run of the yard and would visit you if you were in the downstairs en suite room. They also have a Parrot in the Kitchen who talks non stop. Breakfast was great, cooked to order and one could bring in food if needed. Nice garden to sit in . Bathroom a bit small and all English Showers seem a bit weird to operate and towels are rough because air dried and not ironed. Very peaceful country setting.
- Frances (10/5): - Very comfortable, quiet and clean with a very helpful owner. Only suggestion would be the inclusion of a hairdryer.
- Michael (8/5): Would stay again - A little bit isolated but a very pleasant location with excellent hosts.
Good comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very clean and quite very good
- eileen (10/5): Peaceful retreat - Quiet, rural location but easy access Colchester and surrounding area. Room comfortable and clean. Owner friendly and obliging. Good breakfast - choice of cereals, juices and full Englush, toast etc. Two large German Shepherds might daunt non-dog-lovers but seemed well behaved and feel sure the owner would respond to a nervous guest's notification that s/he is nervous round dogs.
- Margaret (10/5): Woodview b & b - Great hosts.More than one Mill lane in area.which made it rather difficult to find but worth it. Terrific breakfast.
