Guest Reviews
- PINHAS (10/5): - The staff were very nice.
The room was clean.
We enjoyed very much
Thank you
Consiglio , ottimo qualità prezzo e vicinanza a Fygi
- R (8/5): - Good service from staff though a touch under staffed for new years eve gala dinner.
- Robertus Lodewijk Maria (4/5): - Stort douche hangt scheef.
- Adrian (2/5): - Unfortunately the hotel had double booked so we arrived to find no room available for us. Probably worth emailing them to confirm a couple of days before so that you don't end up having to suddenly find another hotel at 6pm after a long flight.
- Lisa (10/5): - A fabulous boutique hotel in a charming traditional village. Highly recommended!
- LEFTHERIS (10/5): - Arigiagni was so helpful and pleasant got out of her way to make things happen always very courteous and with a smile
- Gabriella (10/5): Great place to stay a few days or even longer. - This is a charming small hotel which is actually a traditional village complex of houses. It's in a great location, away from the crowds but close to the sea and to the mountains. There is a huge jacuzzi in the bathroom, which was lovely, but the taps are placed too far to reach without stepping into the tub, which was bizarre. There is a sauna and a steam room but the sauna was not hot enough to sweat.
- Ian (4/5): Promised much, delivered little. - Room:
Poor internet speed / non-existent at bed end.
Saggy mattress with midway ridge.
Dangerous electrical boxes/junction plates in bathroom
Black mold on tile grout
Only 1 key to room so no maid service whilst we were away
Overall in need of refreshing.
Jacuzzi bath unusable as insufficient supply of hot water.
Dining:
No choice of food. Once advised of dishes, one hour later main course was unavailable. Substitute was dry & inedible.
No provision for lunch.
Communication:
Poor / late response to emails
General lack of information
Excuse given was “it’s Christmas”!
Facilities
Spa closed.
Massage only available & only 1 person at a time
Overall, unsatisfactory & poor value. >€130/night is excessive for the limited services offered. This is NOT a 4* hotel as advertised.
- Michael (10/5): - Such a cozy hotel! Bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very luxurious. Breakfasts were appreciated every morning, and custom coffee too! The birds nearby woke up early, so we did too. Pretty much everything was perfect!
- Lucas (10/5): Nice and a cosy place - Very nice and cosy place. We are regular visitors to this hotel:)
- ingvar (10/5): - Super breakfast! Beautiful location.
- Leontios (10/5): Nice place, friendly staff - Good!! I would go again
- Essi (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, extremely clean and unique. Top location. Free parking above the structure. Nice spa with free sauna and relaxing pool area.
Unfortunately Jacuzzi was out of order and it was not announced and not fixed during our stay. Breakfast could be improved so that there's fresh orange juice, more fruits, fresh croissant (not only toast).
- LARS (10/5): Best - A great place and exelent staf. Good size of room, the best service you can get.
- Tim (10/5): - Very nice accommodation in a very relaxing environment
- Lee (10/5): Enjoyable stay - would recommend - enjoyed our stay - good breakfast - hotel located within lovely traditional village
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tolles Ambiente, liebenswertes Team und alles schön familiär und ruhig.
- Sam (6/5): - This is not a 5 star hotel in a million years! We stayed for two days and spent most of it out as we thought our room was stuffy and just boring. At check in we ask whether we could have a room with a balcony so we could sit and watch the village activities and the front desk said that wasn’t possible as they were all booked up. I found that strange for we didn’t see many people in the time we were there. It was hard to find staff to ask questions anyway. Breakfast wasn’t as good as most of the reviews said. I guess I was disappointed since for the price you could stay just about anywhere near the beach. We visited late October.
- Juliet (10/5): - For lone woman guests and anyone in need of somewhere to recover a little you won’t get better than this. Complete contrast to the big hotels with their vanilla styles. My room was a delightful mix of old and new, set off a cool courtyard, and with a huge marble bathroom. I had a great evening meal during which the lovely owner made me feel completely at home. Coffee in the Library. This is my new place I’ll be staying whenever I am in Cyprus in my own and I’m already looking forward to going back.
- derek (10/5): The Perfect Place for seeing Cyprus. - Immaculate property. Idilic location. Quiet and very helpful/friendly staff. Couldn’t have asked for more. The perfect base for exploring Cyprus.
- Paul (10/5): A cozy hotel in a beautiful village - Great, cozy little space with only a few rooms in the centre of a well maintained village. The village itself is beautiful and has easy access to the freeway a few kilometres away. It’s an enjoyable space with a central courtyard linking all the rooms. The rooms themselves are a reasonable size, not as luxuriously appointed as some chain hotels but have character and allow for a comfortable night sleep. This whole hotel and it’s sureounds have a charm that would be hard to replicate in a big hotel in the cities. Highly recommended for a restful stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): sub-par hotel, 3 stars at most, not a 4 star place - Sub-par hotel, not as nice as pictures, descriptions, star rating and other reviews make it out to be.
CONS:
Run by non-locals - could also be seen as a positive, this depends...
Tile floors in rooms look dirty
Extra roll of toilet paper in bathroom in room is not wrapped but placed on a high shelf and when I took it down to replace the empty roll i noticed a dead bug and a lot of dirt/dust on the TP
We were 2 ppl in a room and took a towel out one day to keep in the car in case we got wet (were visiting the coast). when we got back to the hotel after turnaround service, only 1 bath towel had been replaced..thus leaving us with 1 clean towel to share. i had to ask for another one at the front desk which yes, they promptly gave me, but come on, just give us 2 towels, you know there are 2 people in the room
Hugely inefficient furniture setup in superior room we were in. huge arm chair right in front of closet which made accessing the closet and the safe nearly impossible. extremely annoying
broken closet doors
super difficult/hard to open and close doors!! why? why must you turn the door handle so strongly and so severely just to get it to shut? this is not an antiquity issue - this is just common sense - please replace door knobs with easier to use parts
this is the kind of hotel that doesn't have a working front desk 24/7. or even 1/24... really, NO ONE was ever there at the desk. in our stay i saw 3 main girls working as hostesses (also waitresses, etc.)
- Richard (8/5): - Lovely 12 bedroom hotel in a small village. Excellent staff who are really helpful and welcoming. Super breakfast in the courtyard each day. A dining room is also available for the evening and there are taverna choices in the village. The swimming pool is more a plunge pool. Spa facilities are available. The only downside for us was the rather hard mattress on the bed.
- Marin (10/5): Very pleasant hotel - Very pleasant hotel, in the centre of a charming and quiet village, but not during the Orthodox Holy Week – the local teenagers really like to throw petards at any time of the day and mostly at night during this period, the hotel is opposite the church, so the sleep is a problem during this period.
Apart from this inconvenience, it was a good base for visiting Larnaca, Limassol and the surrounding area.
Our Junior Suite was big, nicely decorated, clean (thanks Maria!) with a big and comfortable bed and very good bathroom. The jacuzzi bath was so big we were afraid to use it just in case the island will run dry.
The service was friendly and very helpful – we will miss the smile of Lydia who seemed to work 7 days a week at the reception desk.
We had half board and we were very happy with the quality of the food and the service.
Thank you for all and we hope we will come back someday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cyprus winter break - We spent 2 weeks staying at The Library exploring Cyprus by car and also hiking in the hills around Kalavassos which was delightful. We enjoyed great walks to Tochni and Asgata though finding the trails proved somewhat challenging due to no footpath signs and not being able to find a detailed map.
- Alon (10/5): Fantastic - A great retreat from the modern hectic life. Beautiful boutique hotel in a small village, just 30 minutes from Larnaca and Limassol.
Great rooms, professional Spa, lovely atmosphere, hospitality, service and food.
- john (8/5): Lovely restful retreat - Lovely place in a beautiful village- the hotel was really wonderful and food in the restaurant very good ( although an additional vegetarian option on the mains menu would be appreciated).
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice rural retreat in a lovely village. Attentive owners and staff
Zeer aangenaam verblijf gehad
- Michael (8/5): Nettes kleines Wohlfühlhotel in urigen Örtchen!
- Eduardo (10/5): Bello lugar, vale reconocer..
- Sharon (10/5): Lovely retreat - Lovely little hotel in Kalavasos. The village is small and everyone is friendly and helpful. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet and relaxing place - Quiet, friendly staff, great place for a relaxing weekend, big and beautiful rooms, great good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Intimate little retreat in a lovely little village - Great place to stay to totally chill. Only 11 rooms, ours had a little terrace to the front and a balcony off the bathroom.all staff very helpful. Mitsos restaurant v good food. need to have a car to visit the other hill villages and governors beach. Nicosia, larnaca and Limassol are only 30-40 mins drive away. Kalavasos village is really quaint with a lively local atmosphere. A tiny negative, the air con was a bit noisy and could have been colder, it was 35-40 degrees when we stayed!
Empfehlenswert
- LUKE (10/5): Tranquility just off the beaten track - A lovely, quaint hotel right in the middle of Kalavasos. The rooms are large with jet baths. We went half board, a great choice as our evening three-course meal, was delicious. Within a few minutes walk of the Library you also have a host of other quaint bars and tavernas to try. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here, especially if you're looking to sample the real Cyprus.
- N (10/5): Individuelle Unterkunft für Erkundungstouren - Schönes kleines Hotel in einem historischen Bergdorf.
Gute Basis für Erkundungstouren mit dem Mietwagen
Indivdueller, freundlicher Service
Gute Küche
Erholsame Atmosphäre
- Helmut (8/5): Nettes, familiär geführtes Hotel - Sehr freundliches Personal, Hotel wird familiär geführt, Frühstück ist ok, typisch zypriotisch.
Sehr ruhiger Ort, toll zum Entspannen.
- Antonios (10/5): Relaxing at 100% - Relaxing stay !
- Tom (10/5): Nice and unique place for a holiday - A great, quiet place.
Nice vast rooms. very comfortable. The stuff is nice.
The hotel have a great restaurant. since my girlfriend is vegan, the chef cooked specially for her a delicious meals.
The place is located in quiet place for relaxation.
- Ruth u.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great homely hotel with first class staff - Well positioned hotel with individual rooms and good management
- World travelers (10/5): Hotel that feels like a family bed and breakfast - Staff answered every request with "Sure!" Most comfortable bed this trip. Wonderful masseuse. Lamb chops with carob sauce! Old world charm with a jacuzzi tub for 2. Church bells 1 morning were only negative. Charming but early. Arrive in daylight to appreciate the hotel best. We want to return!
- JEANETTE (8/5): Relax and unwind. - Spent 8 days at this hotel, staff friendly helpful, and even offered to make us something to eat eg toasty instead of breakfast as never able to be up in time due to husbands illness,Lovely area to see some history and walking ,also easy to reach major cities if you wished to.All in all relaxing quiet place to unwind.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint little village - Very nice hotel, and were made to feel very welcome.
It is run by 3 sisters, who were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Brilliant staff, peaceful place to chill - Highly recommend, just chill and enjoy the peace and tranquility c
- CM (10/5): Excellent hotel, slightly quirky (in a good way) - Great hotel, very central location for Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia. It is small and the breakfast is pretty ordinary but this is a great change from same old, same old larger hotels and the service is first class
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing place! - The hotel is beautiful. It is located in Kalavasos which is an adorable small town. It is truly a hidden gem! Cyprus in general is also a wonderful place to visit.
- Zhiwei (8/5): clean hotel for a quiet break - The hotel is in a remote village, quiet and clean. It would suit you best if you want to stay (not going out to other places) and relax.
- Herby (8/5): Quiet location....except for the bells! - A very relaxing 10 days spent at this hotel. The staff were all very helpful, especially Stella.
The room was large, clean and comfortable ~ the bed a little harder than we are used to!
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, but ate in the restaurant several evening. Some things on the menu were better than others, but all portions were large. We also tried a number of local tavernas with varying success.... but it was all part of the holiday experience.
Obviously being in a quiet village, a car was necessary to tour parts of the island. All roads were good.
Sunday morning we were woken by the church bells ringing at 06.30 hrs. But we knew it was close to a church, and school, so expected some disturbance.
- Ian (10/5): A very characterful hotel in a good location - We had a very pleasant stay in this quiet and characterful hotel. The buildings (including the library) are interesting and pleasing to the eye. It is right next door to the main village church, so we had the pleasure of watching the bonfire and attending the Midnight Mass on the Orthodox Easter Saturday before returning to the hotel for avgolemono soup and two types of Easter bread.
- Constantinos (10/5): Excellent get away from the city - A beautiful stay overall. The interestingly enough library themed hotel is run by three sisters, two of which we got to meet... they were polite, helpful and charming. Service, cleanness comfort, decoration all there. It ticks all the boxes.
If i had to make a recommendation for improvement that would be in relation to the bathrobes. They could be better. The Jacuzzi also needed some repair.
All in all an excellent experience. Thank you
- Dj & Sa (10/5): Quiet hotel in lovely Cypriot Village - Had a nice relaxing week at the hotel, breakfast ample, restaurant good, and at a reasonable price.
- POLINA (8/5): Very good - We enjoy it very much.
- Thomas (8/5): Kalavasos retreat. - Sisters running hotel were very customer friendly and willingly met all our needs. The spa facilities were very good and the food was excellent. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was a little bit frenzied when multiple clients arrived and special events restricted access to the library. But overall we had a very enjoyable visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyable - We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere and peaceful neighborhood. The room was clean and comfortable. Friendly and kind staff. The food at Mitos restaurant was nice and tasty. Breakfast was basic.
- Rose (10/5): Love this place 5* - Stayed here a couple of times just for the night and absolutely love it. Rooms are stunning, bathrooms amazing and the food is out of this world..... Will be booking again soon.
- Caroline and Gaby (10/5): What a unique boutique to stay in - My husband and I just spent our honeymoon here at this hotel. It was absolutely perfect for us! We loved the ambience of the hotel as it is very serene and peaceful, located in the hills/mountainous area tucked away, but within easy access of the highway . This is not your typical chain hotel, but rather family owned and run with the friendliest staff you could fine. They were so generous with us even upgraded our room and answered our million and one questions about cyprus. The food is amazing and for such a great price-- you will want to eat in one or two nights at least. There are also several cute local mom and pop restaurants in the village you will want to try that are very affordable with local fresh fare some picked from the terrace garden. The rooms were also so unique and beautiful and very comfortable. What can I say, we loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely come back when we can!
- eileen (10/5): great location and service - The two sisters who run this hotel are really nice and friendly. The situation of the hotel is great for visiting other surrounding areas although you get such a good welcome in the village tavernas you don't really want to go anywhere else. The food at the hotel was excellent except the breakfasts which were ok. The only downside was the pool the jacussi was not working and the pool was taken over by the local birds
- Verified traveler (10/5): lovely hotel - Beautiful hotel highly recommended
- Z. Lederman (10/5): Fantastic! Little, cozy quiet hotel - Nice little hotel in the very quiet community of Kalavasos, on the Troodos foothills. This stone built restored hotel is located just opposite the church, half a block away from the little center of the town. The hotel restaurant, Mitos, is a very fine one with reasonably priced great food. Great service, friendly people. We can't wait to come back and stay there for a little longer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - great location but a bit out of the way. Don't miss the turn of the exit. Facility wsa great with clean room and comfortable bed. Neighbor was a bit noisy but staff politely stopped the none sense. Greta breakfast and location is very charming town.
- SS (10/5): Absolutely wonderful. - Old world rural charm. Very well furnished room. Good wine and food. Hope to go back and live there for a ;longer period.
- Becky (10/5): Amazing retreat - This was a great hotel. It is in a central place to get to all the great sites in Cyprus. The town is quaint, easy to access hiking and walking around. The staff is amazing, so friendly and helpful.
- LB (6/5): Wellness hotel - Quiet village location. Difficult to find first time. Parking available. Room very comfortable, nicely decorated and spacious. Breakfast was disappointing. Lunch and dinner at hotel was fantastic, when chef was there, unfortunately chef wasn't there for three nights and no replacement was employed although food was brought in from another hotel in Nicosia but was not of the same standard and only given a choice of 2 dishes. The outside jaccuzzi was dirty every day so we didn't use it but overall the hotel looked very attractive and clean. It was particularly nice that there are only around 12 rooms giving it the feeling of a boutique hotel.
- Helen (8/5): Good for short break - Good for a short weekend break away from the bustle of the city. Stayed in a nice, clean Junior Suite ("Kafka") with adequate amenities (comfortable bed, television air conditioning, Jacuzzi tub which is not so powerful, toiletries, towels and fridge but no mini-bar). There is a very small whirlpool outside not suitable for swimming and frequented by loads of pigeons so watch out for the feathers! Spa treatments are not cheap but there is a sauna free of charge which for those who like high temperatures was not so great. Best part of our stay was the three course evening meal prepared by a first-class chef. The food was delicious, quantities plentiful and food décor great, all on par with a five-star hotel. The drinks were very reasonably priced. Booked to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary and although the service overall was good those small personal touches provided by many hotels on special occasions was missing.
- SDK (10/5): Grateful for such a hotel... - Wonderful family-ran hotel. Very friendly. Great rooms and excellent location to visit all major cities (Nicosia, Larnaca, Limasos, and Paphos).
