Guest Reviews
- Chris (8/5): - Stable rooms a little hot. Location stunning, breakfast delicious. But it really needs a bar for guests to socialise
- Ragini (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay
- Catherine (10/5): Just lovely - Loved our stay at the Lighthouse. We arrived rather late after a full day at Longleat, but it was easy to find and had plenty of parking. Check in was friendly and the room was lovely and impeccably clean. Breakfast was tasty and my gluten/dairy free husband was well catered for and my son couldn’t wait to try out the play area! Just a lovely stay all round. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again the next time we visit the area.
- James (8/5): - Place was lively very friendly staff everything nicely done bathroom silicone could do with replacing
- CHRISTINE (10/5): - lovely hotel
- Lyn (10/5): - Great welcome and lovely room
Breakfast was a star turn with log fire and lots of choices plus for GF eaters a dream
- John (10/5): - A little gem in beautiful country and lovely staff
- JOHN (10/5): - Good service, cosy room, very welcoming at reception. Lovely views of the countryside and pet friendly.
- Alexandra (8/5): - The lighthouse is a lovely large bed and breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for Rowena who was so helpful and friendly!!
The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed walks with our Labrador in the sunshine.
The Decor of the rooms is lovely and so clean and modern. Loved the gold shower room, felt very upmarket hotel rather than a B&B!
Our one criticism is that the room was super small, and we hardly had room for our dog plus luggage. It was also very hot despite the velux window being open and a fan. It would be beneficial if there was air conditioning units fitted in the stables rooms for added comfort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was an average stay, wouldn't think it was good value for money, maybe it is the area. Just an average 3 to 4 star.
- andrew (8/5): - An enjoyable stay at a lovely property
- Anna (10/5): - The grounds of the property were lovely and so quiet, perfect for a getaway from all the noise. Lovely staff very helpful and the rooms were very well kept, nice big comfortable bed. Definitely coming back at some point
- christopher (10/5): - Excellent for dogs.
- Benjamin (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Fantastic host, great rooms, great breakfast, all set in an amazing landscape. Very relaxing.
- David (10/5): Great Place - An excellent place for a stay in Somerset
- Michael (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Benjamin (10/5): Will definitely stay again! - Accommodation was great, couldnt want for anything more. Rowema was an amazing host. Breakfast was high quality and convenient. Hotel is set in beautiful scenery and boasts a fantastic kids play area.
- Bulent (10/5): - Beautiful property within stunning surroundings. Thank you
- J G (8/5): Another night away. - Clean and friendly. The only things I do not like pre-booked breakfast and I discovered after checking in that the proprietor does not allow alcohol in his premises.
- Navin (8/5): Nice stay - Good hotel room with kettle , tea / coffee facility. Good toilet amenities. Water bottles provided. Bed mattresses a bit on the softer side which some may prefer. Very good breakfast. Could do with some croissants, muffins but had a pancake machine.
- CARIE (10/5): - just a lovely place to stay, with everything you need
- Allison (10/5): - Set in beautiful grounds although we did not get to venture out as time of year with weather.
Greeted efficiently by rowena and shown around.
Bedroom was beautiful and spacious with everything you needed.
Breakfast was sufficient and we enjoyed the mixture of cooked and buffet style.
Nothing was too much trouble at all.
Looking forward to staying again.
Simon very accommodating and pleasant at breakfast time.
- Teresa (10/5): - Loved the property .Spacious.Wonderful countryside.
Peaceful ,play area for children . Wonderful lake and loved to see the dog walkers.
Swimming pool to us lessons not on .
Staff very welcoming and helpful .Would recommend staying here .
- Quentin (8/5): Hidden Gem - Nice and comfy ambience. Perfect for a good country getaway within the city horizon
- Amanda (6/5): disappointing to put it mildly. - The room was not clean with a dirty wall by the bins, also I had to go and get toilet paper for the room as only a part used roll was in the room. The room smelt of food from the cafe below it,which wasn't nice in the evening and it had hazardous metal steps up to which were dangerous the next day in heavy rain.
- Jessica (10/5): Lovely hotel - The most beautiful hotel and location, very welcoming staff and comfortable clean rooms. Perfect for a visit to longleat. Highly recommend!
- Harriet (10/5): - Was an amazing stay, very beautiful room. So spacious especially with a little one in tow. Plenty of room to set up her cot and still have loads of space to move around.
- Niall (10/5): - Really nice place, lovely setting and friendly staff. Nice to get a guided tour
- ROBERT (10/5): Perfect Spot on the Outskirts of Frume - Lovely place on the outskirts of Frome. To far to wall into Frome but Taxi's were straightforward. Love the Lighthouse. Over looks a nice county park. Great in the summer time. Although its more of a Bed and Breakfast it has the feel of a nice hotel. We loved it.
- John (10/5): - The Lighthouse is in a stunning location surrounded by beautiful countryside with amazing views. Although we only stayed for the night the welcome we received and the conversations throughout were truly first class. The accommodation was spotless and the breakfast we had was delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone especially when visiting Longleat as its only a few miles away. Make sure you plan in time to have a walk around the grounds and surrounding area.
- keith (10/5): - Excellent establishment & staff. Although we only stayed for one night we were very imp by what this accommodation had to offer.
- Martin (10/5): - Beautiful property, good location and great value
- james (10/5): Great place, give it a try! - Great place and very accommodating.
- Mr Hugh A (8/5): - Lovely room, spacious, clean. As it was in the photos. Enjoyed our stay would stay again & recommend.
- William (10/5): USE THIS FROME HOTEL - Same high no very high standard as the previous week. This is my hotel of choice when I stay in the Frome area.
- liz (8/5): - Another lovely stay at The Lighthouse. Nothing was too much trouble. Great location for Longleat.
- Garry (10/5): Amazing Family Break near Longleat - We have just returned from a fantastic weekend stay at this wonderful place. Our first visit to the area, and so happy we chose to stay here. We arrived early evening in the dark, well signposted and sat nav took us straight there. We received a friendly welcome and we were then shown to our lovely warm Family Suite. The rooms were spacious, clean and perfect. The beds were also very comfy. Breakfast was definitely a highlight for our stay, delicious cooked breakfast, cold buffet and an amazing pancake machine, which went down amazingly well with the kids. Unfortunately as our days were fully booked with visiting family & Longleat we didnt get to use the ship play park or walk the acres of stunning fields, hopefully we will do that next time. Such a gem of a place, we will definitely be back with family/friends in the future. Thank you for helping to make amazing family memories.
- Rachael (8/5): - Lovely, spacious grounds, with children’s play area, small wood and lake. Attractive, light room and polite staff. Breakfast was decent, though less exciting than some I have- and hot drinks only from a machine. (Really would have liked a big pot of tea!) But overall a very pleasant and easy place to stay and would recommend it.
- Louise (10/5): - Lovely place, gorgeous surroundings, lovely friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean and comfy room!
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful accommodation for a Longleat visit - We booked this accommodation for its close proximity to Longleat Safari Park but it proved to be a good choice for many more reasons - the room was stylish and comfortable, the breakfast was lovely, the venue was a peaceful location but simultaneously close to main roads for easy travelling. Within the grounds was a large fishing lake which is a lovely walk and there is woodand further back to walk in if desired. We loved it and would definitely return if we were in the area.
- mark (10/5): - Stayed overnight here with our young neice for a visit to longleat safari. Welcomed at reception and personally shown to our room. Nice room with all the usual toiletries, tv, tea etc. Lovely cooked breakfast which we pre ordered night before and book time slot. Didnt get chance to make use of play area, but looked really good!! Ideally situated few minutes drive from safari, and in fairly quiet area!!
- John (8/5): The Lighthouse 25-28 July 2022 - Stayed in a room in the ‘Stables’ block room was excellent but had no window apart from a narrow panel at the side of the door and a skylight in the ceiling which was controlled with a remote, also a remote controlled ceiling fan and light. Bathroom was very well equipped with a very powerful shower and was very brightly lit. Breakfast was partly buffet and cooked which was preordered the day before, all very nice.
Rowena the owner was very pleasant and helpful. Large outside area with a fishing lake and Childrens play area
No food was provided in the evening and the pub which was 150 yards up the road has now gone ! But there is another appx 3 minutes drive away, not walkable due to main road
- Julia (10/5): Great Stay - Amazing place, very laid back and staff were fantastic
- Carley (10/5): - A beautiful place with wonderful accommodation. Excellent facilities and care/attention given to our stay.
Thank you for an enjoyable weekend.
- Rapeepan (10/5): - We’ll definitely be back. Everything about this stay was perfect. The room, the staff and the surroundings were stunning.
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent accommodation, good location and very clean. Very good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Five Stars - Spotlessly clean, cannot fault any aspect of stay.
- Ben (10/5): 10/10 - Stayed for 2 nights, we went to long leat for my daughters second birthday had the best time.
Perfect location to stay if your visiting the safari park or just for a weekend away
Breakfast was lovely cater to every need ,
Me my wife and daughter had the best time will definitely be arranging another visit 10/10
- Kelly (10/5): Couldn’t fault a thing - Beautiful family suite in a beautiful area. Couldn’t fault anything will be back.
- Zoë (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - It was beautiful! Only wish was that we could have stayed longer!
Fresh clean spacious rooms, beautiful surroundings and great friendly service. Breakfast was lovely. Couldn't recommend more!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - Overall, fine. Very clean, good room facilities. However, for me personally, when on a leisure break, I really don't want to have to commit myself to a pre-arranged half hour slot for breakfast...8.30-9.00 for example. I also found my room, whilst comfortable, to be rather claustrophobic as the only proper window was a skylight, which opened electronically but clearly only offered view of the sky. Also, on check in on Friday, I was asked what I would like for my breakfast the following Monday! Admittedly, I was told that it could be 'tweaked', but really...???!!
As I stated previously, it was fine overall, but on a personal level, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
PS. The alcohol ban is still noted in the Guest Information in the bedroom. I don't know how it's enforced.
- Danielle (8/5): - Large tended fields surround the property, a dream for dog owners, which there were many staying at the hotel. As an ancestral farmhouse, the bedrooms were spread out in what in the past had been the stables, the coach house, etc., giving a feel of space and resulting in general quietness.
- Stephen (10/5): - This is a charming & peaceful place to stay.
Staff were all helpful and polite.
There are a variety of room types with the provision of 30 acres of grassed fields to walk in. Within they have 2 ponds for fishing.
The Lighthouse is dog friendly, but if you enjoy your alcohol this is not the place for you.
Their ethos is for everyone to have a peaceful and relaxing stay.
- Mona (10/5): - Lighthouse was by far one of the best place we have stayed till date. Large clean rooms, wonderful staff, beautiful maintained gardens and play area. My kids just didn’t want to leave the place.
- Emma (6/5): - The grounds were lovely. The room could have been cleaner
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely hotel - Great staff. Very accommodating since we were turning up quite late and helped out. Lovely rooms with space - we had a family suite which had plenty of room for us and 2 children in their own room with bathroom.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was beautiful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a lovely place to stay. We had a big room for three. My granddaughter had a lovely bed and a large bathroom. Very clean. It had a well informed information folder in the room. We ordered for our hit breakfast when we arrived and a great selection for cold breakfast. Fantastic grounds. A really lovey place
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Peaceful location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An ideal location for a family stay for those visiting Longleat, Frome and Bath.
A warm welcome , nice, spacious, clean family rooms & despite Covid restrictions a lovely breakfast!
- Ami (10/5): Wonderful - Wonderful stay. Absolutely ideal for kids of any age. Lots of grounds and perfect location for visiting longleat. The best breakfast I think we’ve ever had!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely people and place to stay. Nice grounds and rooms
- Charlotte (8/5): Not your normal business trip - Gorgeous setting. Smiling service from the minute i arrived. Room was very comfortable and clean and breakfast was delicious.
- Ian (10/5): - My family was met by a friendly staff member who shown us to our room. We had access to a wonderful piano room with games and a blazing fire. Very comfortable
- Ashley (10/5): Highly Recommended - A little pricey but would highly recommend.
- Michael (4/5): Very average - I asked for breakfast at 7.45am so that I didn't have to get up too early and could leave for work on time, but was told breakfast either had to be 7.30 or 8am. Yet I was also told that I was the only guest staying at the hotel! Why the breakfast timing rules? I don't get it. Here's an idea for you: Why not let the person who's paying for breakfast decide when to eat breakfast?
- Katharine (10/5): - Lovely setting, very comfortable beds, excellent facilities.
- Jenny (10/5): perfect family retreat - A hidden gem found for our family visiting, plenty of outdoor space for the children, grounds are beautiful and room was perfect.
Worth a visit, could spend all day relaxing around the grounds.
- Richard (10/5): - The place was really nice with large grounds rooms were amazing clean and tidy to a very good standard
- Sheryl (10/5): Lovely property in a beautiful setting. - Lovely property in a beautiful setting. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was great to be able to have a picnic in the grounds. Nice cafe with homemade cakes too. Would definitely stay at The Lighthouse again.
- John (10/5): - Excellent across the board
- Ron (8/5): - Convenient for my business needs, wifi was very good and room was comfortable. Disappointed that there was no restaurant in the hotel ( Not sure if this is on their website) However in the information booklet in the room there was a list off recommended restaurants inn the immediate area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed here recently to visit Longleat Safari Park and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely and the staff were really pleasant and helpful. We booked a family room which was perfect for the three of us. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of cereals and yoghurts and also a cooked option if you prefer. We are hoping to return in the summer for a few days as we enjoyed it so much. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the surrounding areas.
- Z H (10/5): Christmas Trip - Super Amazing overall!!!
- RICHARD (8/5): One night stay - We were heading to Longleat, so the Lighthouses was a close convenient distance from the park.
Our stay was comfortable and relaxing.
- Louise (10/5): Highly enjoyable stay - This was a perfect base for visiting Longleat. The kids loved having their own space, the breakfast was excellent, the view from our window gorgeous - all in all somewhere we would definitely stay again.
