Surprisingly quiet for a central pub on a Friday night. Only brief noise was other guests returning at 3am but not hotels fault and was short lived.

Sunday was then opposite. A number of guests sitting at tables waiting to see someone. When we went self serve they all just did the same. “Continental” breakfast was muesli that ran out and toast. Two very contrasting experiences.

- Annie (7/5): A good place to lay your head! - Staff lovely. Room a really good size and was clean & comfortable. Great value for money! No noise from Green Dragon pub itself. I want to caviat these points by saying that none of these factors would stop me staying again if I was in the area but I feel are useful to note: - Floors & bed very squeaky/creaky so you wake each other up a lot - noise from other pubs (we stayed Saturday) and people was very noticeable. Fine for us but if you are a light sleeper this might not be great over the weekend! - breakfast was average. The 2 slice toaster is so inadequate for breakfast for so many rooms! Coffee & tea cheap & basic. It did the job but I wouldn't personally pay for it if we went back.

- Russell (7/5): - The pub / hotel was great and an ideal location for exploring Yorkshire, The guy who welcomed me was great and very polite. The room was ideal, bed comfortable & clean bathroom. The food menu had changed from last year and was no where near as good. The Continental breakfast was frankly abysmal, The girl serving breakfast showed no interest in me and did not even show me where to get the toast and cereal. 1/2 a bag of bread and a toaster + boiling water to make your own coffee is not acceptable for a continental breakfast. Tables weren't set. no coffee cups or glasses out - a proactive staff member is required.

- Alison (5/5): An adequate pub room in a convenient location but with a poor breakfast. - The location was ideal as we had booked for a meal at a local restaurant and wanted to be able to walk to it. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The room was decorated in an attractive and up to date style. Check in and check out were convenient and the information received prior to arrival accurate and helpful. The breakfast was poor. There was a complimentary continental breakfast of fruit juice, porridge, cereal, yogurt and bread to make toast but there was no yogurt or porridge left when we got there and we weren't late. We had opted to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. We had bacon sandwiches and they were made from the cheapest, white sliced bread and 2 rashers of chewy bacon. Very disappointing. The coffee was instant and there was no choice of tea bags. On our 2nd morning we opted to have breakfast at the cafe next door which was lovely. The room was noisy until pub closing time but we had expected that given that it was a room above a pub on a main Street.The shower was disappointing with very low water pressure. The lighting in the bedroom was so dim that it was impossible to read in the evening unless you had a lit kindle.

- David (9/5): Wonderful pub stay - Right in the middle of the small town, there is a long stay car park, which doesn’t charge between 1800 on Saturday to Monday, so ideal for weekend travel. The staff were very helpful and there are plenty of nearby shops and eateries. For a pub room, the bathroom was fantastic with a towel rail that kept the whole room warm. It has obviously been inserted into an old room in a coaching pub, so the sleeping area is small, but still fine. Quiet for a room facing on to the Main Street. One thing’s for certain, you will not sleep through the fire alarm! Nothing.

We got sent to another hotel at 9:30pm. The other property was not to the standard that I had paid for. Room above the bar, no hot water and breakfast set up for one person only.

Despite being on the high street, and staying on a Saturday night, the hotel was not noisy at all. Extremely comfortable bed & pillows. Room was spotlessly clean. Excellent full English breakfast. Breakfast was very good & tasty however the poor chef was on her own & didn't explain where coffee/tea/juice etc where or that toast was self service. We did just have to muddle Ali g, as did other guests. Wasn't a big issue but would have been better to have a waitress or at least an explanation of how they were running things.

- Frank (7/5): Comfortable room, nice and clean with everything you need for a single night stay. Friendly staff. - Didn't try a breakfast, was new year's day so a late night previously! Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Green Dragon was the nicest of the pubs we visited in Bedale. Later check out would have been good, especially on New year's day. Didn't like the people having a loud conversation in the street outside our window till 3AM. Although nothing the GD can do about eejits!

There was a warm welcome at the pub and the room was large and nicely decorated, the bed was large and comfortable. The pub does not serve evening meals on Sunday (the night of our stay) which was disappointing as we were looking forward to a pub meal. However they provide a list of other restaurants in the town and surrounding area

- Sally (6/5): Nice - The room was comfortable although I think if there had been colder weather the room may have been cold during the times when the central heating was not switched on. Coming back to a cold room after a day out and having to wait until 19.30 for the heating to come on was a little uncomfortable and would have been worse if the weather has been really cold. Tea and coffee making facilities were very good. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very clean. Over all we really liked the room we stayed in. E thought we had booked breakfast included but turns out we hadn’t do that was disappointing, but obviously it mistake, however we were told that a continental breakfast was available but when we went for breakfast the restaurant was not open and there was no one to ask as it appeared to us that there was no staff on site or available. We did feel that although no one was rude to us we didn’t get a friendly bell from the place but again this May have been our perception. As there was no breaker on offer we decided to leave the place the night before so we did not stay for the whole 4 nights stay.

- Angela (8/5): Angenehmes kleines Hotel - Angenehmes kleines Hotel, es gab zwar kein Frühstück, wir konnten aber gegenüber im Supermarkt für unser Frühstück einkaufen und es im Restaurant essen. Gute Lage, um in der Gegend zu wandern oder den Druids Temple zu besuchen
