• Alfredo (8/5): - The Ladd Brook is very nice for a motel at its price point. The owner, Paul, was very friendly, and the office was clean and welcoming. The place has an old-timey ambience, and the nicest view of any budget motel I have stayed in. The room was clean, with no cigarette odor, and warm on a cold night, with no annoying noise from the heater. It had a small microwave and refrigerator. The mattresses were decent, the pillows thin, the low-thread-count sheets clean, the towels clean, small and scratchy. A look around revealed the shoestring maintenance characteristic of budget motels. The air conditioner, situated in a roughly framed hole in the wall, was surrounded by expanding foam. The bathroom was clean and basic. The bathtub floor had a raised topography, and sunk under my feet as I showered. Pieces of molding were missing or crudely cut. You get what you pay for, and I calibrate my expectations to match the price I pay. The room exceeded my expectations. My only serious complaint was that the hot water ran out at night. It was plentiful and hot in the morning when demand was presumably lower. It would be nice for them to have a system that can meet peak demand. Breakfast was basic, with coffee, bagels, cold cereal and the like. You will do much better at a cafe in Bennington or Williamstown, but it is good for a snack to get you going. This is, overall, a very nice place for the price, and I will consider staying there on my next trip to the area.

• Clifford (2/5): STAY AWAY!!! - This motel was a huge dissapointment. The location was nice, but upon arrival, the place gave a really bad first impression. Worn down, old gross pool, and it appeared as if there were full time residents living in a few rooms. Check in was easy, but when we got in..... first, the horrible smell of mildew or mold wafted through the door as we opened it. The carpet was stained and disgusting. It was very cold. 57 degrees. We turned the heat up. I could only get a WiFi signal outside, not inside. I let the front desk know and they said to wait five minutes so they could reset the router. Waited. Still no signal. And no heat. Went to the desk again. Told to wait 5 more minutes so they could bring another router and space heater. Waited. The other owner brought us to another room. WiFi signal was ok but no heat. Even worse carpet. Broken blinds in bathroom. Blood stains on the pillow cases. Loose particles and hair on the sheets. Disgusting smell. Rusty brown water in the shower. And cold. 57 degrees all night. My wife was concerned about the pillows so she covered it with her jacket. That jacket now smells like it was sitting in a moldy basement for 10 years. I’m sorry to leave a negative review, but this place is in dire need of renovation and maintenance and should be allowed to operate under its current condition.

The rooms are perfectly comfortable with refrigerator, microwave, tv, comfortable bed, quick WiFi, and shower withgood water pressure. The family who owns the hotel are very, very nice and live on site. All this being said about te inside of the hotel - go outside! The location is perfect: close to attractions in Massachusetts and Vermont but tucked away in an old village. Absolutely beautiful scenery.

• MG (4/5): - The staff were wonderful; very friendly and quick to help when we had issues. The circuit breaker would trip every time we tried to run two things at once - like the TV and the bathroom lights, or the lamp and the refrigerator. We had to walk down to the office several times during our two day stay to have them reset the breaker. The room itself... well, the carpet was stained, the floor in the bathroom dipped where the toilet was - I could tell that the subfloor was rotten and sinking, the tile was cracked. There was no chain lock on the door, and both the doorknob and deadbolt were keyed, which meant someone could unlock the door and just walk right in. The grounds were unmown, there was an unfilled inground pool, cigarette buckets outside each room were full of butts, there were a couple of unregistered cars in the lot, one had a flat tire. So, while the staff was lovely, the property needs a lot of work. They do allow dogs and it seemed everyone there had a dog, and it was peak foliage season; this was the only place with vacancy that allowed dogs in the area or we would have left.
• Alec (8/5): - Located right in front of a mountain, it was perfect for our purpose: to see the foliage of VT. This is an older hotel, however it was very clean and everything functioned well. The staff at the hotel was very nice people, friendly and helpful. Overall a nice experience.
• Gail (2/5): Never again! - It is located in the middle of nowhere. Needs upgrading, it is from the 50’s decor and shabby. Beds were saggy and the pillows were flat. The smoke alarm battery was low so it kept going off half the night. Went to office to check out at 7:30 and have breakfast, locked up, so picked up phone as instructed....no answer. Left key in room with door unlocked!

Upon arrival, I was informed by the manager that ‘they’ were having a problem with the Cable TV provider so there would be no Cable TV available. And there was indeed no cable TV available the entire weekend. No clock radio. No operable phone service other than to be able, I assumeThis property has had very little (if any) updating, in my opinion, For decades. Yes, what could I expect for $59/night? This venue has supposed affiliation with the Best Western chain. Well, I think Best Western ought to withdraw its association with this place. Coffee and continental breakfast were unavailable until 7:30 AM, but management told me he’d made an exception for me for a 7 AM coffee available the first morning I was there. Nothing even remotely open on Sunday until 8 AM. I left at 6:30 AM. I will never knowingly stay at this place in future. I’ll actually be surprised if the place is still open for business for very much longer.
• Christopher (2/5): This place is a dump - This place is a dump!!!!! They have NO cable!!!! And the internet is sporadic!! The place is VERY old. You must wear shoes or sandals inside of your room. Carpet is gross! The bed is like sleeping on a rock and the pillows are as hard as stone. There is not even a clock radio in the room! I didn't feel secure as there were some strange people staying there. They didn't have cars. I didn't sleep at all! I left at 5a.m. Even thou it was $44 a night, it wasn't worth it! I would never come back!
• Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - Upon arrival the front desk said it was open but no one was there, after calling the number posted we had to wait over ten minutes for someone to drive to the hotel and check us in. The room smelled unpleasant and was in very poor condition. The bathroom was especially dilapidated. We considered using bottled water to brush our teeth as the bathroom sink water initially came out brown. Upon leaving there was no one there before 8 and we left at 7, so we had to leave our key in the room. It would be helpful if they had a key drop box for people who want to leave early. On a more positive note, we appeared to be the only guests, so at least the room was quiet apart from the street noise. Also, the motel was very cheap, which was our primary reason for choosing it. So indeed, it's partly a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

I feel for the owners cause they’re clearly just trying to get by, but they could care a little more about their business. the office says open but there is never anybody in there and they were not the most professional people. the room was clean enough, but the comforter was very old and I’ve used table napkins that were softer than the sheets. the blanket was comfortable at least

• JANET (2/5): DON"T STAY HERE - Horrible Experience. Arrived at 8pm. Had to wait 30 minutes outside for person to arrive to check me in. At that time I was informed I couldn't have the room I reserved. I had to still drive to get my son, so I took the room they had available. That was a mistake. I then drove to pick up my son in Pittsfield, we got into the Ladd Brook at 11:00PM. Very dirty. I had to clean the toilet before we could use (see pictures, before and after) Supposed to get 2 queen beds, got 2 double beds. Supposed to get a no smoking room, burn mark on blanket (see picture). The shower was dirty, so did not take a shower the next morning, afraid of what I would have to encounter (see picture). There in no breakfast service as stated (though by this time I would not have eaten there anyway).Staff was difficult about giving me a refund for a second night and would not reduce the rate of my one night even though I did not get the room I reserved. A lot of disappointment and aggravation, not what you want to deal with on a trip. Stay far away from this one.
• valerie (8/5): 70'S style motel - Motel that could use a freshen up. The owner is very nice and the breakfast included a good surprise. It is in the middle of nowhere and the extremely bad weather was not an incentive to explore the roads.

It's falling apart - the pool is a hazard, the rooms have no decorations and seem to be held together with screws and chewing gum. On the other hand, the bed was perfectly comfortable, the owner was friendly and the wifi worked. I imagine they don't have the resources to properly maintain the property. It works if you're just looking for a place to sleep, and it's cheaper than a lot of the other places in the area..

Shower tiles/ caulking really bad. Toilet seat loose and potentially dangerous. The neglect of the condition of the rooms and property is just laziness. All things that could be rectified with little effort.

• c (2/5): Unhealthy Conditions - Wonderful view of the mountains. When we first arrived we were told they could not garentee the water heater would be fixed (we had reserved two rooms with two double bed in each). They switched our rooms so we would have hot water. There was mold round the tub, carpets had animal fur and had not been throroughly cleaned or vaccumed. There was a moldy/oily odor in the room and air conditioner was old, noisy and not clean looking. We needed to stay the night due to nothing available. I did not sleep due to noise of air conditioner and odor. When we tried to cancell the remaining two nights with travelocity and owner they would not refund our money. I just want them to remove carpets and replace them with new ones, replace moldy grout, replace air conditioners and get rid of oily type odor for those who may rent in the future. The pool was unavailable due to years of neglect and dilapitated conditions. The cigarette butt recepticles outside each door had not been recently emptied, although it advertises no smoking. But not all negative reviews are accurate and I figured I'd give it a shot. Well, the negative reviews were spot on in this case!! I checked in and figured I'd go in to the room and eat my sandwich to get a feel before I brought my luggage in. I put my sub (in a wrapper) down on the desk and noticed right away the desk had not been wiped off in what must have been several visits. It was kinda gross. Next, I went into the bathroom to go #1. I noticed the bathroom had been cleaned, but smelled like urine horribly, and I hadn't gone to the bathroom yet. Getting very concerned, I pulled the covers open to the bed. There was body hair between the sheets. The bed was made tight, but must not have been washed since the previous use, or two. Trying to be patient, I figured I'd just sleep on top of the sheets when I went to bed later. I figured I had better check the pillow. The exposed side was as clean as could be. Flipped it over…disgusting. That was it. I grabbed my sub and went and turned in my key. The lady doubted me, and said that her husband had just cleaned the room. I just shook my head, and replied he may have cleaned it to his standards, but not to what a hotel guest would expect. She offered another room, but I was so grossed out at this point I just said no thank you and left. I'm not sure I've written a negative review before, but I wanted to save others hassle.

• David (8/5): Good cheap hotel - This is the kind of simple, cheap motels America excels at. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast had bagels, bread, and a toaster. What more do you need? Close to Mt. Greylock and the museums in Williams and North Adams. Try the Chef's Hat if bagels aren't enough. I suppose the caulk on the bathtub could have been prettier. Oh well.
