• Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting - Carpet going up the stairs all stained food under the bed bath plug had hair in it bedside lamps had no bulbs in mirror in bathroom was up to high bed had a dip in it no replacement tea and coffees or milk no contact was made after check in

• Simon (4/5): - The place is friendly. The waste bin in my room was full when I arrived on the Friday, also the carpet was in dire need of hoovering. I didn't comment as I thought someone would check the room on Saturday. There was nowhere to hang a towel in the shower room and the shower needed a major clean. It had a lot of black mould on the sealant. There were plenty of towels and shower gel etc. The biggest problem I have have is that on the Sunday, when I had to check out by 10:00, a key was put in the lock and the door opened. One of the staff attempted to enter my room at 08:30.

The bathroom was also of a good size but the ceiling and walls were covered in mould, the wash basin was cracked and the toilet needed better cleaning. The bathroom needed a makeover. The stair carpet leading to the bedrooms was shabby and needed replacing or deep cleaning.

The mattress was lumpy, TV remote did not work very well and only way to turn TV off was to unplug it and shower head was covered in a brown deposit. Getting into the room was not easy on first floor but the floor was not level so I had to go down a few steps then up again in quite a narrow space.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Green man pub - Service and staff were quick and friendly. Car park was a good size with plenty of spaces. An outdoor playground for the younger children. Outdoor smoking area for those that smoke. The quality of the food in the pub was good and would recommend eating there. There was a little boise from the pub downstairs as you would expect. But wasn't bad, and ended when the pub closed. The rom unfortunately was a little tired. The double bed was two singles pushed together, unfortunately they were slight height differences. The room window wouldn't close properly, so there was a bit of noise from outside. There was a crack in the bathroom sink that had been patched over. There was a large stain on the carpet. It may seem negative but the building is 400 years old and has a charm of it's own.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Great value. - All in all extremely good value for a twin room. The evening meal and beer (Timothy Taylor) was very good too. The only downside was the lack of breakfast availability. We only found out that they no longer did breakfasts on arrival as they don't have a chef in the morning and apparently it "wasn't worth their while".Luckily the hotel over the road were happy to take our money!

• Jody (4/5): Not good - Dirty saucers on the tea tray, cobwebs and spiders in bathroom, towels smelt stale. the carpet on stairs to our room was filthy. The stairs smelled awful which filtered into our room. should have had 2 double beds but only got 1 double and one small single which was rocky and noisy. (However, price was reduced by £12 for this) I suppose for a 2* B&B I expected basic but the overall smell was awful. Would never stay there again.

• stephen (8/5): Great bargain stay - Staff were friendly, and helpful. Room was clean and beds comfy. And a great location with plenty of parking. Only complaint was the water temperature was inconsistent. The sink cold tap would run warm, the shower was fine, until the final time when it was running super hot even on the lowest setting. We found that turning the sink cold tap on, ment the shower ran cooler o.O Not sure why that worked, but It did. Would happily stay again though

• Adam (10/5): Great pub, not far from the town centre - I was worried as a lot of reviews had said the beer was expensive and the the food was rubbish. Yes, the beer is 4 quid a pint, but it's well-kept and I was very happy to drink it The food seems to have got a pasting in these reviews and I have no idea why. I ordered a burger with chilli and what turned up I couldn't eat that much - it was a huge meal! The burger itself was obviously home made and the chilli my friend had was superb. The food at the the Green Man is well worth stopping by for. The expedia reviewers are wrong.
• Nick (4/5): Poor overall experience - Not a great experience overall. The room was fairly shabby, beds had no headboards. There was a good supply of clean towels and supplies and the bedding was clean. Service in the bar was OK but i would certainly not describe it as welcoming! The food was very poor - I had Nachos and meat chilli which was so salty it was in edible. it literally tasted as if someone had emptied a salt cellar over it. I wasn't able to express my opinion on food - as no-one came to ask I wont be using this place again - shame as location is good and village is very nice
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Very basic room which was fine. Two single beds pushed together to make a double. Paper thin pillows and no headboards on the beds. Very small shower with loose taps. Staff was friendly during check in. A lot of noise throughout the night from other rooms and creaking. Didn’t spend much time in the room but wouldn’t recommend for a lengthy stay.
• B (4/5): - Not a great stay. Our room was next to the pub sign which stayed lit up at night, with the paper-thin curtains letting in so much light it was hard to sleep. Only one small window pane opened, the rest are locked shut - not ideal during a heatwave! We stayed 2 nights - the room wasn't cleaned during the day. We had to request the basics - hairdryer, iron and ironing board (you'd think the iron would come with a board). Most disappointing was that the cleaning staff repeatedly let themselves in the room during the last morning to check whether we had gone - regardless of the fact that it wasn't yet check out time. No warning knock, just opened the door right into the bedroom! We stayed because it was close to a wedding we were attending. Wouldn't stay again.

• Fiona (8/5): Just the job! - The Green Man Pub was just the job for an overnight stay. The room was a little dated and there was nowhere to hang clothes apart from a couple of wall hooks but it was comfortable, clean and tidy. There was a good supply of tea, coffee and biscuits, towels and toiletries and mint chocolates. I was a bit disappointed when I arrived tired and hungry to be told they had stopped serving food in the afternoon - I had rung the day before to make sure I would be able to get something to eat! The person checking me in did apologise and suggested a few places nearby where I could eat or get a takeaway. Breakfast was extra and but worth it as I had an early start so it set me up for the long day ahead. The car park was secure and gated. Would I stay again? Yes, it was a good, basic room for an overnight stop.

• Scott (8/5): Nice pleasant comfy stay - Pub has easy access to the rear for parking off street which is also secure as a gate closes at night. Quiet albeit the cars passing every so often wakes you up in the morning if youre situated in the front room. The radiators are constantly clicking as the water makes the pipes expand. Becomes very annoying after a couple of hours. I set the alarm off in the morning as I opened a door which wasnt locked but which was alarmed and woke the whole pub up. Afterwards I noticed the big sign. Someone should have said something when I turned up. Overall though, a nice place

• jane (6/5): Green man b&b - Large room with a double and 2 single beds. Fresh towels, a choccie and shampoo /soap on each bed. Room smelt of smoke although it is non smoking. There was rubbish from the last occupant in both bins. Room hadn't been cleaned, there was loose tobacco on the dressing table and a toenail clipping on the floor. Owners were pleasant though and offered me a plate if I wanted to take a takeaway back to my room. Plenty of eateries in walking distance and loads of parking with car park locked at night. Room could do with decorating and a refurb. There is mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. Breakfast is £6.50 extra and was tasty and plentiful. Pity about the cleanliness as I would have stayed here again in the future if it wasn't for that.
