Guest Reviews
- YustriY1 (2/5): Worse hotel - Worse hotel we ever been to, Very dirty, I felt suffocated and headache because everything and everywhere stinks like cigarette smoke, AC doesn’t get cool at all and room is very hot. We asked to swapped room the next night , they gave us room with no shower😮!! The sink was leaking, the housekeepers cleaned the room without our permission! Will never go back again.
- 234justinf (2/5): No Don’t , really worse than the reviews - Don’t, just don’t, worst.
7.3 very good- are you kidding it’s 4 max
It was the only mid range hotel available near my meeting.
Smelly old Hotel, not upgraded or rejervqted for 30 years.
Smelly,
No power sockets
Old furniture
Linen not 100% clean, some stains
6am wakes up to fitness workout noise
Just no. Trust me
- firwik (2/5): poor services, condition of the room isnt like picture - never stay at this hotel
-poor services
-moldy walls
-a lot of mosquitoes
-unfriendly staff because staff no ethics and disrespectful to guest
-ugly room carpet
-buildings needs to maintenance
-poor facilities
- R2202DJtomh (6/5): A long way to go! - We only stayed at this hotel because we were attending a wedding reception being held there.
I have stayed in more than 150 hotels around the world and for the first time I was required to pay a refundable deposit for a remote control for the A/C.
The bathroom is exceedingly tiny. My cat couldn't swing a cat in it.
There was no hot water at 5:00pm after we had travelled 5 hours to get there and really needed to freshen up. On our way to dinner, I asked at reception about this and was told that due to "technical problems" we could only have hot water from 6 - 8AM and from 6 - 8PM. I explained that I did not know about this. The receptionist then showed me a document that I had not seen nor been shown when checking in that explained the situation. I suggested that guests should be informed about this when checking in.
Miraculously, the 'technical problems' were resolved the following morning.
The staff were not aware of what was happening at the property. We asked if there was live music. The receptionist directed us to two venues on the property, but each was closed. Only the disco was open.
The food in the restaurant was mediocre at best. They try to do this barbeque thing at the table, but it fails to deliver.
There were plenty of plates, cups, glasses and so on, but only one spoon.
There's no light above the cabinet where you make tea or prepare snacks etc.
The light above the makeup / grooming mirror was not working. They clearly don't check that everything is working when they clean the rooms.
The furniture, carpets, cabinetry, wall coverings etc are very dated. However, the bed was comfortable and the wall covering behind the bed was relatively new.
There's no safe in the room. I know that safes are expense and there are always technical problems, but pretty much every property that says it's 4-star has a room safe.
The worst part from a safety perspective is that the elevator doors close within a very short time. I injured my arm as the door closed on me within 5 or so seconds and hit me quite hard. A petite granny could have been seriously injured. No-one seems to care. It's an obvious problem and should have been fixed.
The restaurant did not stock beer or wine or any other alcoholic beverage.
It's a property that management doesn't seem to care about.
The staff are helpful, willing, courteous and respectful, but not properly trained. This is a sign that management or ownership doesn't give a toss.
- ssssJJJJ (6/5): The hotel location is good - Was staying in this hotel for 2 days with my family with 2 kids, the staff is very friendly, the room is very nice as well, and the service is also quite good. The down side as a feedback is
1. No room for non smoking, I specifically ask for this when i made the booking
2. The pool is nice, since this open for public so many visitor the pool's toilet is broken and not clean, many visitor smoking in the pool area even the cleaning staff smoking cigarettes while they are cleaning, i think the management can improve this, so everybody can enjoy the pool and also healthy for other visitor who doesn't smoke.
Hope the hotel can improve their services and this other downside things.
- danielwN9964CE (2/5): One of the worst hotels I’ve ever seen... - - breakfast poor
- greasy floors, bad smell
- bathroom dirty, things broken
- water either cold or boiling hot
- blood stains on the walls (not from small mosquitoes!)
- bad WiFi
- pool old and not for using
Never again!
- syafriemuhammad (2/5): Old, But Not Classic. Terrible. - A hotel that really needs renewal, like it's not run professionally. When I checked in there was no greeting at all. When I got the key and entered the room, it turned out that the room was also not ready, the door to the room was still open and the bed hadn't been made. The hallway to my room was also very inadequate, there were heaps of extra beds leaning against the wall like a warehouse. The hallway to my room was very unworthy, there was a wet carpet at the end of the hall that was left just like that. The staff who cleaned the room when I passed the hall did not say hello. The room I stayed in was not carpeted, there was a weird little staircase in my room like a stage. Gym and sauna facilities close at 7 pm. In my opinion, this hotel really needs renovation, its construction, its management, everything. There are some hotels that are old but still very classic, but not this hotel. Poor.
- balibestadventures (4/5): Poor service - Stay there for One Night, (4-5 Oct) book-through Traveloka.com, arrive at the hotel really early in the morning about 5am and i handled by reception staff (man), in the beginning reception this guy ask me to pay at IDR 658.000 net then i can early check-In at 6am then i explain to them i already make my reservation through Traveloka.com and reception inform me “ if BOOK through traveloka check-in time will be 12noon “
(1st time in my experience hotels has different check-in time)
i try to negotiate and ready to pay extra money as long as i can enter my room to take rest from my long trip but that guy still not allow me to have my early check-in. A man who handled me is also not really friendly if talk about hotelier industry, no solution offers on my case as well. Hotel location in the middle of Medan city and good for business trip and they have facilities like Bar, pool and rooms huge but not well maintained ( consider out dated + room as well not really clean)
In may case, since i can not early check in i search other hotel then i back to this hotel at 5pm to have check-In process.
Suggestion, since hotel industry competitive is really rapid and always required excellent service ensure “Do training to your staff” especially to those people who in charge in front liners ensuring you have better service.
- hansibrahim (8/5): Large swimming pool - Lake toba international hotel is a hotel located in the town square, with great room rates and a family-friendly pool. the hotel is also close to shopping malls and entertainment venues, friendly hotel staff and helpful to you in any business
- itsandrool (6/5): Perfect in pictures ... but - Hotel looks awesome from the lobby you are amazed and the pool looks great too. However in general, the place is run-down pretty bad. It doesn't capture it in photos etc but once you step in, you can know the place has maintained and has been there for some time. Heard it was the 1st 5* hotel in Medan many years ago but other hotels caught up to it.
Rooms are spacious, a little musty. There's this old hair-dryer which looks like from the 80's hanging in the bathroom, didn't know if it worked but looks odd.
The hotel pool is open to public at a fee so it gets crowded during weekends but still fun.
For the room type, recommend going for the parquet floor rooms and with poolside view.
Oh at night, the club beside gets loud and you can hear the bass from the room. But I was with enough alcohol and with the afternoon Medan sun, I was able to sleep like a baby!
Location is sweet.. turn right and left for like 600m there's Sun Plaza. Turn left and about 350m there's Brastagi supermarket with Coffee Box (or Chat) which has good food.
If you're using Grab, meet them outside of the hotel property as each entry costs IDR5K even if it is for a drop on/off.
- peelyr2014 (8/5): Hospitality plus! - While the building itself is a little worn, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast set up was really good, the staff were helpful and very acommodating. They had an amazing band on downstairs at the coffee shop while I was there. There is a supermarket/shopping complex a few minutes walk down the road. Just a tip be wary of the bemo drivers out on the street. They'll take you all over the joint but be certain of the price BEFORE you go.
Overall I liked the place.
- lawsonkoh (6/5): GOOD FACILITIES OUTSIDE INSIDE BELOW AVERAGE - In the hotel room the electric coffee pot don't work, tv hardly work (when work no sound!), hot water take many tries and times to work. Aircon does not reach it desirable temperature (set at 18 it is just cool). Carpet dirty from the look of it has been in this condition for a pretty long time. Did see some major renovations in a room. It seem they decided to replace everything, change the carpet to tiles etc.
The only redeeming aspect of the stays was that they are many lounges, coffee house (with free charging of handphone) pubs pretty lively night scenes all in the hotel ground. The exercise gym meant for the guest was a joke! All the electrical exercise machines - DOWN! All malfunction. Most of the locker in the toilet are in a big condition. Key lock don't work it has been replaced with latches. Literally everything in the hotel is pretty run-down. The massage establishment is actually not bad. commutativity price and above average service.
Don't keep the expectation too high. Forget about watching tv. Facets cannot close properly. I think they are in a energy-conservation mood. Everywhere hotel lobby, corridor even the rooms are in room temperature 23 to 25 degee). The hotel lobby i saw a portable aircon.
- coffeelover02 (4/5): Old rundown hotel with spacious room - As you enter the hotel, it feels like you have been transported to the 1980s. The hotel room is huge and spacious. However, it looks and feels like the 1980s and have not been refurbished since. The shower curtain is half browning. The bathtub tiles crack. The toilet has no bidet. Not well maintain. Even the hotel towels are not clean white. Everything there looks old and ancient. Breakfast is average.
All they need is some renovation and a facelift.
- Dimitriy876 (4/5): Must have been great hotel 40 years ago! - This must have been great hotel 40 years ago! So run down now. Makes a good home for tiny ants though. I cannot say that I enjoyed sharing bed with them however. Wifi does not work in the rooms (and I tried two, one on 4th and another on the 6th floor). Breakfast worse than average. Not recommended at all!
- Herlivst (6/5): Old hotel with ample parking space in Medan - This hotel give the vibe of being old. Room ameneties, facilities, furnitures, toiletries are all aged but still functional
Aircon is centralized, good enough to make the room comfortable in a tropical climate but those who wish for the room to be cold would be disappointed.
Water heater in my room takes sometime to warm up a bit, me and my wife thought that it wasnt working
Electrical socket arent placed ergonomically (ex: no socket at the table; its behind the tv stand at the side, beneath the dressing mirror or on the wall a little bit too far from the sofa)
Ample of parking space but you have to pay the moment a car enter the premise even though it is just for a dropoff or for hotel guest
Staffs are decently warm and friendly
Bit disappointed with the cleanliness though, specially my towel. Not exactly dirty but there are stains, like some sort of plastic or rubber melted and stick to a side of it and is spread around. I took a photo of one of the stain spot. There are more on the other towel surface area
- Hiker788 (6/5): Expensive for the service and condition - Not well maintained. Getting run downed. Need a major overhaul. We had normal rooms and deluxe room. The deluxe rooms are okay but the normal rooms are quite bad. Washroom have rundown. beds are too soft and bad. Not suitable for people in 40's. Not fully recommended unless you got no choice.
- motgoh (6/5): Lake Toba - people very friendly they will openly welcome you, local and foreign food easy to find and cheap. Transportation is very affordable for example a seven seater vehicle for the whole day ie 9am to 5pm is only S$70. The driver will bring you to all the usual tourist attractions.
- Paulypaul70 (2/5): What a dump - Wow 5 stars for a festering dump that after complaining 6 times dosent have AC
Please someone tell me where in the world you can find a 5 star Hotel that does not have AC
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I can highly recommend to any body to stay clear of this festering dump.
Incan go on and on but I believe I have made my point
- flyingdents (2/5): Expensive but Not Worth - Deluxe Room 6 th floor
Old bulding, no hand towel, face towel, old toilet, no shower near toilet (or closet)
I feel itchy on body bec sleep on bed idk why
they claimed the change the cover of bed daily
There is no power outlet near bed, if you like to play gadget or work in bed, this hotel is highly not recommended
Wifi when I stayed here is also problem, cannot connect to laptop and mobile phone
Five star, quiet expensive rate but not in linear with their facilities
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a good stay. It is quite near to the mall and eateries.
- Gabriel (2/5): The true review from a European guy. - If you are from colder regions then don't choose this hotel.
I switched rooms because the ac didn't make it cool in the first room.
It was hot.
Even in the second room it was a bit cooler but moist.
Hard to sleep.
The rooms conditions aren't up to date or the date of the 21th century.
If i were you i would choose either asean international or karibia hotel.
The price differences aren't much.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value Hotel Clean & Comfortable Accommodation - The hotel is dated but offers clean and comfortable accommodation for the budget traveller. There is a very good pool and gym available to guests. Communication for Westerners can be difficult with their staff at times, and requests may be overlooked or ignored although if you speak with reception they will try and assist.
My only criticism is that there are no safes in the rooms and believe that they would be a good addition.
For a budget hotel I believe that they offer good value and clean accommodation and would certainly stay there again.
- macho (8/5): Nice hotel close to all facilities - It's was nice hotel staff r really friendly n it's really worth
- bintang sihite (4/5): - Kayaknya perlu renovasi besar-besaran agar lokasi hotel ini dapat bermanfaat bagi tamu....
- Helge (4/5): Smoking everywhere - The rooms were ok but a little worn-out, specially the bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Close to Sun Plaza, the best mall in town, only 5 minutes walk. The taxi for the hotel did not use meters and took overprice compared to official taxies in town. We had ordered a nonsmoking room but got a smoking room. Changed room the next day to a nonsmoking floor/ room but with an ashtray in the room. The room smelled like smoke, and during weekend there were smokers all over. In the restaurant for breakfast it was allowed to smoke all over. Good breakfast. It is not close to the airport. They build a new airport for more then a year ago in Medan and it is more than an hour away...
- Jonathan (6/5): Good cheap place to stay, but not the best - my stay was overall good, except i booked online an hour or two before and they had a lot of problems finding my reservation and i had to wait. the food was not the best my girlfriend had a rock hard piece of meat on her plate. the laundry service was a bit iffy, we had to call 3-4 times just to have them bring our clean clothes. overall, however it was a pleasant stay and the pool looked really nice eventhough i didnt have a chance to get in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nearby town - Value for the money.best hotel you can find with your little budget
- Ramli (8/5): Very good hotel - I booked two nights at Danau Toba International Hotel. The room I got was a standard room, but it was large. I have no complains about this property. I highly recommend Danau Toba International Hotel.
- Setamy (8/5): It is what it is - Not a bad hotel, not a great hotel. Just an average hotel. Nice staff though.
- Shah (4/5): Unpleasant stay - Imagine paying for 2 cokes 100,000idr at taven so call disco nite with a lame atmosphere.
- A.Ahmad (6/5): Strategic location in Medan - Overall satisfactory - in the town center, next to shopping centers and no problem at all with public transport and in fact the airline office is just on the ground floor of hotel.
- jay (10/5): Excelent Service - We enjoyed stay in this hotel. Staffs very friendly.
- kelana (6/5): nothing special - nothing special. Old hotel.
- hs (6/5): Trip to medan. - Spacious rooms, two lights not working fridges not working in all three rooms asked to repair or change reception said that 90 % of the fridges out of order , bathroom cleanliless not up to standard friendly staff. Swimming pool big and clean. Dangdut music good the singers were very professional and friendly stayed from 3-9-13 to 5-9-13 booked three rooms.
- sofie (4/5): Wash cloth! - I called house keeping for wash cloth, told by the front desk I have to call house keeping which I did and answered they don't have it, the supply only for floor 8,9, and 10, which I was staying on floor 7, was very disappoint , nice hotel and but costumer service, same with the waitresses in the restaurant, wasn't very nice, there was no smiling faces.
