Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - They never cleaned my room in 4 days . Got lucked out of my room no staff for 2 hours to open the main door . They never gave me a key to open it .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is not a hotel it is a hostel that seemed to pay for adverts and social media to make it look like a boutique hotel.
The springs were coming out of the bed, the bed was uneven, had a terrible night’s sleep and left after one night while for three. Staff were not bothered at all and just us leave, they obviously don’t care about their clients as long as they get paid.
Not yet place to stay if you want anything other a backpackers hostel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were amazing, helpful and friendly
Had a very nice stay there.
Location is perfect for Kuta
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff. Very helpful and friendly people! Good job guys
- Lucy (10/5): Nice hotel - We booked this hotel for the gym and pool and all though the cardio equipment doesn't really work the weights selection did the trick. Super friendly staff and comfortable rooms
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and good condition
- laurie (4/5): - would not stay there again or recommend it
- Jessica (4/5): A run-down motel experience - Not near the beach, we rented motorbikes which is a good and convenient option. Got a room on the first floor, which is unfortunately directly under the pool. The whole room was filled with the overwhelmingly foul stench of mold. Actually worried about my health after staying here. Staff was generally unfriendly and passive, not willing to help unless pushed to do so. So many better options just next door to this one! The overall experience was like staying in a run-down motel in the wrong part of town in the States.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - when I recieved my paperwork from expedia told me I would not have to confirm my booking ,when I got there I was told that the booking was not made properly and I would either have to change two out of three rooms for lower standard rooms or change hotels.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - we supposed to check in at 2.00.
when we came at 2.15 ,she informed that no room and gave us 5th floor no stair or daily water or toilteries. very very bad. no lift either. because this i will not recommend anyone to used expedia any more . very dissapointing
- H.Fareis (4/5): - I'm booking for 6 room, come with my big family. But 2 room at level 5. Problem to bring baby. Ask to change room, hotel no have room. Their say full booking. But in my booking request special, i'm mention to stay grand level.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Newly renovated few rooms still being done above us. Paid 850 BAHT in high season on special but wouldn't warrant more than that.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location wise is quite convenient. However the reception counter girl is always not pleasant face, upon check-in she checked booking number and told me didn't received email from expedia which shocked me,after awhile she show me the phone msg with booking guestname and details, cross check that my booking name on expedia website is not same as my passport. And also I found that the hotel is without lift,ok I admit I didn't check thoroughly when I booked the hotel.Anyhow the room is clean and comfort enough.
- E (6/5): - Standard 4-level hotel with clean room however there is no lift to take us to the 4th floor. Cleanliness and facilities, nothing much to complain for the price paid. However, check-out staff was poor in having a sense of urgency. Requested for an airport transfer by taxi and was told to wait for 10 minutes but waited longer than that for a MINIBUS which eventually caused us to miss our flight back home. Staff knew we had to be at the airport by a certain time but was busy video calling another staff for work purpose despite having guests who requires desperate assistance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to Bangla street just walk and not complain about it
- Jay (8/5): - The facility was very nice but the room could use a few updates.
- Barry (10/5): Clean and Cheap - Good clean hotel with two pools. Good price. Some restaurants and bars close by but about 20 mins walk to main patong area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Worth for money...walking distance to Jungceylon..
- Brad (10/5): - Great experience staying at the Wave. For me it was the perfect location and the staff was fantastic. The room was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here on my next visit to Patong.
- Joseph (6/5): Close to the main attractions - The room is comfortable enough for a short stay. Has all the basics you need and nothing more. The pool is small but enough to jump in on a hot day. The gym equipment is old but funtioning
- Que (2/5): Horrible hotel stay - Worst hotel to stay. The toilet was choked and it overflowed in the bathroom. Told the receptionist but she was v rude. Requested to change room but she wasnt able to accommodate. At night the stench was horrible as the toilet choked again. Insisted to change room and she reluctantly allowed us to change room. Staff couldnt speak english well and was totally unfriendly as she gave us the annoyed look.
- Kynie (6/5): Too far from the action and not quiet - This was the third place I stayed at Patong and was somewhat disappointed. The price was right the bed comfortable and my room was very clean. However I chose Wave as I thought it would be quieter as it’s not near the main centre but I was wrong. There was a lot of road noise and people noise. Also there was no bar near the pool which always makes for a sociable stay or pool towels provided. As I had a late flight there wasn’t even a shower I could use in the afternoon. The location was really too far away to walk to Jungceylon and the main shopping area which I did do - took about 30 minutes and certainly not really suitable to do so at night if you are a solo traveller. The money I saved backfired as I needed to use Tuks a few times. My advice is stay closer to the action but pick a place down a laneway just off the Main Street and you’ll be surprised just how quite it is
- Craig (8/5): Great value for money - Fantastic place great location and good value for money
- Rick (8/5): Good hotel walking distance to beach and nightlife - Hotel staff friendly and always helpful, stayed here 5 times now 🙏🍾🌴
- mell (10/5): Good place to stay - Nice place. Easy to rent motorcycle and easy to find transportation
- Verified traveler (4/5): Mould is real. - Pool and gym was handy for morning exercise. It wasn't noisy and it was close to everything we wanted. Room was kept tidy for the most part (apart from one day the bin by the toilet wasn't emptied, which is gross seeing as you can't flush paper down the toilet in Thailand).
Unfortunately the room had mould in the corners of the roof and smelled stale and terrible from damp. My partner and I are both asthmatic so this effected our breathing. This could be due to our room being below the pool. The staff acted like this wasn't a problem and weren't very accommodating in finding us another room. We ended up staying in that room and masking the smell with the air conditioner. Not great for the lungs. Also, our safe didn't work.
The place seemed ok. We dealt with it for the 8 days we booked because we were only there to sleep, but wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't have wanted to stay there any longer than we did. Who knows, it may be fantastic and we may have just got the unlucky room.
Regardless, it didn't ruin our trip. Was just a little annoying returning to a smelly mouldy room everyday. They need to sort that out.
- Burt (6/5): Hotel Staff - The hotel itself is decent. But it is the 1 daytime receptionist that is the problem. She is very unpleasant to deal with!!!
- Caren (6/5): Okay hotel, not the best. - Was an okay hotel. You get what you pay for. Air con worked and room was clean. Tv was super old. Strict check in at 2pm. Staff was okay but didn't help with anything like booking taxis.
- Nick (4/5): Wouldn't come back - The place is not exactly in a walking distance to a/the beach. Sure, you can walk but it takes about half an hour. The massage places nearby are not good, wouldn't recommend to anyone.
2 of the 3 breakfast places we tried were also not good.
The room was basic at best. The beds were stiff and not comfortable. The bathroom was hot as hell during the day as the sun is shining directly through the glass covered roof and the safe is pathetic - enough for a smartphone, wallet or passport but that's it. If you;ve brought a laptop or a tablet with you - you're screwed.
The gym consists of a bench with some dumbbells, a stepper and a treadmill (could've been 2 steppers).
The pool looked not bad but the 2 times I checked the water seemed dirty so we didn't go in.
Not much outside noise, you could hear noise from the other rooms though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Always great value - Have stayed at this hotel a few Years now and also much more expensive hotels , but always come back to the Wave for best rooms and price and staff assistance.
- Angelica (8/5): Good hotel for the price - Hotel is well located in patong near the main activities. It is a nice hotel overall
- dee (10/5): nice hotel just off main road - Had a really nice stay hotel just back of main road so no noise from rd, staff was really helpful cleaners kept room 💯% 2pools breakfast was nice also
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Had to cancel and find other accommodation, the room they wanted us to stay in was nothing like the one we booked. We would not even have got our cases in the one they were giving us.They said there was no problem cancelling,i wanted to speak to a manager and get something in writing, but they refused.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - a bit noisy at night, and facilities are not really convenient.
I chose this hotel because I thought I wouldn't stay long nor use the facilities much,
so it was okay. But I would rather find the better one next time.
And the staff didn't guide me to the room, but I just had to find the room by myself.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel 30 minute stroll to Patong Beach - No frills hotel located further back from the hecticness of Patong Beach. Staff was friendly and complimentary upgraded our room. Although a "free shuttle" to Patong Beach was advertised, we were told the shuttle was unavailable. Airport Shuttle is not included, but the staff will book one for you for 800 Baht.
- oliver (10/5): Perfect - Great staff very secure, room cleaned perfect everyday, checked in early will stay again
- Richard (8/5): Good hotel, set back from main party area Bangla - Good hotel, friendly staff always helpful, set back from the main party area but plenty of local bars on Nani road, Bangla road night life is 5mins away🙏🌴☀️☀️
- Andrew (8/5): GOOD VALUE - Value for money, Reasonable price for reasonable rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Service on time, cleanliness good - Service on time - water availability
cleanliness good- budget hotel so its ok....cockroaches but manageable
payment done at checkout - same cost (690/night) whatever booked
bed comfortable
2km from main road but manageable
bathroom floor mat not available
long stay - cloth hanger in the balcony not available
- graham (8/5):
Nice hotel - Nice pools good staff clean hotel will stay again. That's all a minim off 50 is not on
- patong regular (4/5): Pictures look better than it is. - We had 3 rooms booked for five nights (so glad it wasn't any longer) the rooms are very basic, mattress rock hard, safe didn't work, no shower curtain so water runs across floor and wets toilet. Friends room the shower head broke off so he was moved to another room. No lift so we had to carry our bags up four levels. Small pool had dirt in it the whole five days. Room faced brick wall. Quite depressing really. Cleaning staff were friendly but reception had poor English and were not very welcoming. If you want a budget room this place is fine but for a relaxing holiday this place just doesn't have the facilities for a comfy relaxing stay. Spend a little bit more would be my recommendation and get something nicer if you can afford to. The picture is the fire escape. Good luck trying to get out.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very basic room An bed . Staff didn't speak much English . Rooms An hotel look nothing like the photos . Very old .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wave Patong - Staff were there for me, professionally from beginning through end.
They speak English, just be patient. I will do it again.
Very close walk to Street market, mall and Patong beach. Narrow walkway on streets. Be careful. Witnessed several motor scooter accidents. One was fatal.
Ultimately, enjoy your stay!
- brett (6/5): power outage - the power was out from 9am until check out so i couldn't shower before flying home, asked for a refund nothing not even discount or offer of even a breakfast
- bryan (6/5): nice hotel - good cheap hotel in good condition, as good as some of the more expensive hotels i have stayed in
- graham (8/5): - 10 min walk 2 banglore street plenty of bars and resurants on the way ideal place to stay nice and quiet
- Mayil Vahanan (10/5): - hotel was good and the staffs are very good, only thing its quite far from patong beach.
- Brett (4/5): Great location - Internet was crap. Manager was a very unhelpful and tells her staff to put thru 2 transactions when the booking for 2 rooms is a total amount. Non speaking English or understands it staff included. I will be contacting Expedia to be compensated for the trouble with the wave hotel. Internet was atrocious and the manager was never around as I demanded to see her in person and she refused. The fact none of the staff spoke English or understood it was appalling, especial in the hospitality industry.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Avarege room - The wave Patong Hotel is in a very convenient location we were able to walk everywhere in Patong from there (the mall, market, beach, Bangla Road etc ect).
The room doesn't look like the photos they posted. The furniture is very old, the shower does not have anything separating it from the toilet (a shower curtain or a door or anything). So when you shower the whole bathroom is wet with water from the shower. The beds and pillows are very hard.
They clean it everyday and they do a good job at it though.
The one thing that annoyed me the most is that the front desk is completely useless. They are only there to take your money and that's all they know. They advertise making food (breakfast and sandwiches), drinks, arranging tour trips, arranging taxis but when you go to them they say they can't do any of it. SO WHY ADVERTISE IT! When me and my partner checked out we asked them to get us a taxi they didn't move a finger about it so my partner had to go to the streets while I stayed in the hotel with all our bags. He had to walk for a good 15 minutes before getting to the taxi area to then go back to the hotel and then go to our final destination. It was very inconvenient for us.
Maybe if you just have a backpack you won't mind some of these things but we found it a bit frustrating.
After all our experience was average (not horrible not great) so I wouldn't refuse to go back there but I wouldn't be running back either.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hotel needs to turn around - Everything was terrrible language barrier was understandable, but everything else was bad. I was treated badly and when I asked to speak with management no one was available. This is a shady operation if their is no management. I had to act out of character to get what I was entitled too. If I were another ethnicity I would have received better service.
- Wayne Roger (10/5): very helpful staff and clean. - All was good , only no lift . I was placed on the 4th floor . With 4 suit cases a baby and pram it's not easy . On my second day a room was made available for us on the 2nd floor . Being that I way 145kg you can imagine my delight when that happens . Other than that I rate the service and stay 10 out of 10 .
- anthony (10/5): lovely - lovely hotel, great quiet location not far from shopping centre.plenty of bars and eateries nearby.room cleaned every day.lovely big balcony [room 410]really enjoyed our 2 week stay
- Keith (8/5): - Nice newer hotel with a swimming pool and a new pool table,an excellent hotel for a great price!
- Bayyina (4/5): Not the "Wave" - I wouldn't stay here again. The site and the hotels website said they had an airport shuttle which was not true and this was one of the reasons I chose this hotel to stay in. I emailed the front desk before arriving and never received a response...still. The hotel is pretty far from the beach. Just an FYI for anyone considering staying here...the front desk people do not speak English that well and aren't so helpful with local tours or arranging taxi or mini bus services to the airport. The price they'll quote you in higher than the actual cost. To take a moto from the hotel to the beach should only be 50 baht NOT 100. And a taxi to the airport is 700 baht NOT 800. Also they'll tell you the mini bus service to the airport ends at 5:00PM which is not true. Just go to another place and they'll give you a later time.
- Ramsey (10/5): Nice Hotel very close to Everywhere I wanted to go - I had the best experience? I will recommend this Hotel to everyone, very comfortable beds to sleep in, cleaned room everyday, safe in room, not one thing went missing from my room, air con, laying in Bed watching TV I was very relaxed some mornings I didn't want to get out of bed? This Hotel will be my 1st choice when I come back to Thailand.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel and nice staff - It's the second time I have used this hotel and I will be using it again in the near future 😊
- Verified traveler (8/5): Phuket stay - Was just ok...
- Marcus (10/5): - Always stay at the wave. The staff are friendly. The pool is a nice size and great little sunspot. The rooms are just what you need and the price is fantastic. See you in April
- Lindsay (8/5): Cheap place in quieter area of Patong - Hotel was great for the price. There's lots in the area to do and staff was pretty average. The room was a little musty and there was no window (we were on the first floor) and the pool could be cleaner but for $20 CAD you can't really complain.
- withney (6/5): New and buget hotel - New and small hotel .
Good location within walking distance to acess stuff and convenice shop.
buget price for buget service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - i stayed 15 day at this hotel and it feels like home everyone is so nice and the room are all modern room it was little far from bangla road and patong beach but then its was so easy to walk like 10 mins walk going on the said road. but the hotel is so peaceful and clean all in all i will go back to this place and will be staying on this place again.:)
- John (10/5): Nice hotel staff always willing to help - All staff are really nice and friendly. Hotel facilities are immaculate condition due to cleaners thourer work. All staff are willing to help especially the night time reception staff. I definitely will be using this hotel in the near futur and will recommend to everyone I know who are thinking about visiting Ptong
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great budget hotel! - Very good customer service from Hotel staff. Rooms do not have phones which was inconvenient. The air con also leaked and flooded the bathroom. The pool was fabulous and also close to Jungcelyon mall (15 minute walk) and Bangla Road. Overall, great place to stay whilst on a budget.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not Quite as advertised - This is a clean hotel adequate accommodation... I wouldn't bother to upgrade to a balcony room as the view isn't great in fact there are slim dwellings next door and you can't sit on it with the aircon on as the unit is on the balcony and blasts you with hot air. It's a basic hotel good for travellers would look for a better quality hotel which are available at the same price. Plus there were lots of comings and goings in the night.
- Christopher (8/5): The Wave - a very pleasant hotel! - The Wave is tucked away in a dead end side street, so no noisy passing traffic which in busy Patong is a bonus! However this made finding the hotel when we arrived quite difficult. As it is a newish hotel, it is not well known by the local people. It is clean and un-fussy and very friendly. You can get food from nearby restaurants and shops, and there is a restaurant downstairs so food and drink is available pretty much 24 hours a day.
The clean, comfortable air conditioned rooms are accessed by stairs only - no lift. We were on the second floor so this was fine. The pool and small but well equipped gym were on the second floor too which was very convenient. The pool is nicley shaded with a sunny area for sun bathing if required. We enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend this hotel to tourists who wish a pleasant but fairly inexpensive and comfortable stay in bustling Patong.
The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and kind. They do speak English, but remember this is not their first language!
If we return to Patong, this is a hotel we would certainly stay at again.
- LJ (8/5): Great place - This hotel surpased our expectations. Everything was better than we anticipated. The Hotel was a work in progress but that did not detract from what was essentially the best value accomodation of our holiday.
We would stay there again
- brett (8/5): good - good little place have gym and pool but small
- brett (8/5): good - good value for a place with a gym and pool even though both are small
- Michael and JJ (10/5): Fantastic... - loved the room... clean, new with a tv and fridge... big bathroom and cold aircon... staff could use a bit of a smile but will be back... a bit far from the beach but very quiet....
- Scott Jones (10/5): very nice hotel at a great price. - Great stay at the wave. Rooms very nice and staff friendly. A bit far from the beach but shops and food very close. Price very good for what you get!
- Rob (6/5): Decent - Decent hotel, however was a bit far from any attractions and had very little around the neighbourhood.
Rooms are not finished to a very high standard, but are spacious. Air conditioning was very loud and when we woke in the morning there was a large pool of water underneath the air conditioning.
Staff were not overly friendly and there was no one to help carry some very heavy suitcases up four flights of stairs in the 35 degree heat!
Not terrible, but if you want stuff to do you'd be better staying near patong beach.
- kal (8/5): Everything just right. - Its a simple hotel. 4storey high but sadly without elevator, but it was fine for me partner but if i were to come back with my family member its gonna be hard for my mum to climb the stairs. but other than that, it was great. Nice staff. Very friendly. Surely will come back!❤
- Long (8/5): good place for this price - We enjoyed our stay. We got quite lucky tho, because our room was in the 4th and highest floor, therefore our room was at least 4m high.
Most of the staff was very friendly and had a decent command of the English language, except the cleaning ladies tho.
Good place, good price.
- Richard (6/5): Great place, if you like verbal abuse! - It was my first time to Phuket, and so I was lost finding the hotel. When I arrived at 8 p.m. , I was ignored while the girl at the desk talked with the waiter. When I politely asked for help, she came and slapped a piece of paper at me and said, "Fill this". I did. She saw my name and said, "You're late!" I thought that to be a little off-color, but amusing way of chiding me in a friendly Thai manner. Not so. She said, "We wait for you! You can't be late!" With that, I felt awkward, but was polite and took my key.
The room was great and so were the surroundings. I went to ask her for a map, and a place to eat. She said, "I not guide! I work in hotel!" Wow. I went to the Guest house next door, and they gladly gave me a map, and pointed to a place nearby with good, but cheap Thai food. I would've changed, but the room was paid for, and it was only for one night.
Lastly, the next day when I went to check out, there was another girl working, so I was grateful. I asked for a cup of coffee sent to my room. She said, "This no room service. Get yourself!" Wow! Who's training these girls? (I stayed in Bangkok and Pattaya, and so I am very familiar with Thai hospitality. This is NOT it). Finally, when I checked out, I was 15 minutes late checking out. Again, I was scolded. "You supposed to leave at 12! It's 12:15! You no own hotel!" OUCH! That was the stinger! And with that, I left The Wave.
- Terra (6/5): Good hotel for price. - The surrounding area is busy and there are very few sidewalks do the road can busy dangerous to walk.
A good value hotel for Patong.
