Guest Reviews
- Lauren (10/5): - The hotel was exactly as advertised. The hotel was very close to all of the public bathhouses. When we arrived we were given our passes to access the public bathhouses and everything was explained to us. We stayed for one night and visited everywhere we wanted to. We then had a very early train the following morning and the staff very helpfully dropped us to the station in time for our train. A great stay!
- Gabrielle (9/5): Amazing traditional inn experience! - I stayed here for 3 nights and I couldn't be happier with my time at the ryokan. I was offered transportation to the ryokan upon arrival at the station. The staff welcomed me and assisted with carrying my bags to my room. The room and bathroom was pristinely clean. I was informed of all the rules of the ryokan as well as the onsen. When leaving and entering the ryokan, the staff were ready or available to receive or hand me my keys and shoes. Not a minus. I just thought handing and receiving the key each time I left and came was a little tedious. But they came as soon as we phoned them so not a big deal.
- Po Chen (10/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Really good value, beautiful traditional ryokan - Beautiful decorated traditional ryokan.
Very friendly helpful staff. I left a book I'd finished in the room when we left and the receptionist was looking out for us on the street to hand it back, thinking we'd left it by accident!
I had booked a room with no bathroom but realised my teenagers wouldn't want to wash at the onsens so enquired what to do with the ryokan before we arrived and they were able to move us to a room with a private bathroom
Great location with a gorgeous cafe across the road worth going to I found the tatami mattress really uncomfortable, very hard. But family didn't mind it as much though.
- jiratorn (10/5): Excellent !! - Staff, room, onsen , and everything!!! -
- Anastasija (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Traditional and charming - A traditional and charming inn, close to all the public hot spring baths and other attractions like the ropeway, temples, shops and museums.
The Japanese-style room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. I really appreciated the yukata they provided for the authentic onsen town experience.
Very friendly and helpful staff. We were picked up directly by shuttle bus from the train station. They provided tea and snacks and a detailed explanation of all the onsen when we arrived. We took a later train the day we checked out, so they arranged to take our luggage to the tourist information office opposite the station to save us from carrying it across town.
I would definitely recommend staying here and enjoying this lovely little town.
- vanessa (9/5): Good accommodation very traditional - Traditional Japanese Inn in a lovely little Onsen Town. Lovely staff but not much English spoken so be prepared to translate on phone. No dining facilities but lots of choice in Town. No lift to get to 2nd floor so had to carry up cases.
- Caleb (10/5): -
- Charitini (10/5): -
- Marta (9/5): Hi tornaria! - Personal súper amable, ben situat, molt net i amb pijama i yukata de cortesia. Barri molt tranquil i al costat del canal. Res. Tot m’ha encantat.
- Saumya (8/5): -
- Kaitlyn (8/5): Such a great stay, bring an extra pillow and it is perfect - The staff was nice, kimonos included and also bath pass included. The futons were a bit thin and only one pillow was provided per guest.
- Robin (10/5): Clean place to stay. The staff were wonderful friendly and accommodating. -
- Sharon (8/5): Great place to stay - Ease of location and friendly helpful staff, nice room Nothing
- Niparut (8/5): Overall it’s good - Staff, Clean, comfortable, location Room too small
- Kit (9/5): Love our stay - The location and hotel facilities are excellent. Staff support and service excellent The only feedback is that we were not fully aware the hotel provide transfers to/from train station. Would be good if this information is made upfront. Otherwise, everything else and our experience is really good
- Diego (9/5): -
- Tatsuya (8/5): -
- Ranson (10/5): The staff was exceptional, they could not have been kinder or more accommodating. - Location was excellent, close to the Onsen’s, restaurants and shops. It was quiet and authentic and wonderful. I may have preferred to be in the main building just for easier access to the hotel’s facilities. But my building was still lovely.
- Alfredo (8/5): -
- Agustina (8/5): Very nice stay, fantastic food! and I’d come back again any time. - Well kept and traditional It seems as it’s a better choice to order directly from their website? I thought that I ordered beds for my children when I ordered through booking.com but I did not. The concierge was very attentive and lay out beds for them so it was ok, however I wish it was made clearer and that there were as many choices to order from their plans and so on as there are from their own website.
- Jennifer (9/5): Jederzeit wieder - Die Mitarbeiter*innen waren sehr freundlich.
- Julianne (10/5): -
- Elliotte (8/5): A nice mid-range ryokan if you don’t mind getting food elsewhere. The yukata+jacket provided were super nice. - Cozy futons and fantastic yukata+coat. My top 3 Onsens were really close, as is the ropeway. Parking is free by valet and the staff did a very nice welcome. The fridge was weird with spaces just for beverages. Most of the restaurants are a bit further away and I wish there were food options.
- eric (9/5): perfect - location near of main shops and cleaning everything was ok
- Keith (9/5): We loved the food at Sennennoyu Koman, the location was ideal, and the service was fantastic. - We loved our time at Sennennoyu Koman. My wife, daughter and I felt pampered by the staff. The food was phenomenal, and the location was perfect for walking to the Onsens around town. It was also an easy walk from the train station, and an even easier quick shuttle back to the station when it was time to leave. There could have been a few more hangers and storage spaces in the room for towels, clothes, etc. Our room was small, but that was somewhat to be expected.
- Meylin (9/5): - Staff was so welcoming and right away helped us with our luggage. They i didn't bring boots.😑
- Erica (10/5): Beautiful traditional ryokan - What we experienced was the typical kinosaki ryokan, though we missed out on the in-room dining. We were offered a thorough explanation at check-in, as well as yuaka and outerwear for wandering around the town, and an onsen pass to visit all of the exterior onsen. The hotel itself had its own bath which also included a sauna, something the exterior bath houses didn't have. At night we really loved the nearby izakaya, which was full of locals. The room could have benefited from warmer / dimmer lighting, but this may be a personal preference.
- Kristina (6/5): - Location
Authentic experience Ambience could be nicer in the room
Bedding set up
Aged property

- Emily (9/5): -
- harvey (7/5): -
- Dmitrii (9/5): Really great Ryokan near the best onsens. - Staff are very nice! Thanks a lot for the stay!
- Graybuck (10/5): Perfect. - I made a mistake in booking and arrived a day before we were booked, and fairly late in the evening. The staff sprung into action, got our rooms set up and were incredibly understanding and helpful. After that everything about our stay was perfect and I would absolutely go back. I have no complaints.
- Nathan (10/5): Fantastic service, comfortable traditional rooms and great location. - Sennennoyu Koman is the side building to the main 'Koman' building with the public bath, just across the road.
Our stay at Koman was beautiful, the friendliness and warmth of every staff member was amazing. We stayed in a traditional tatami room, which was comfortable, well serviced and clean.
We were situated on the North side of Kinosaki, closer to the ropeway than the station. Most of our time was spent at the 7 public baths and local shops, so the location was great.
We would love to stay here again. Thank you! The location was further from the main streets, so exploring in geta sandals took longer than expected. For us, this was part of the exploration, as there is no shortage of small shops, food stores and souvenirs to browse.
- Shikha (10/5): Amazing stay and experience and unforgettable memories made thanks to staff and amazing services pro - The hotel staff went above and beyond with everything! We found the room for 3 people stay last minute change from a hostel stay to this ryokan and best decision ever made! For cheaper price, we were provided with yukatas in house!, morning hot spring onsen use in the ryokan itself and big traditional room with toilet and amenities for free! And all the staff were very friendly and patient! Specially considering everyones age! Every older staff did more than we could imagine being awake 24/7 helping us! Round the clock and running in-between two building of the ryokan. Definitely coming back to stay with them again and very central to kinosaki onsen ropeway centre of village so very accessible to everything! Nothing to complain about as absolutely loved the experience more than last time's stay in another ryokan in same village
- Sharon (10/5): - Perfect location
Staff fantastic, helpful, kind and professional.
Lovely traditional Ryokan
- dale (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): A very enjoyable short stay and great location. - Great location and lovely view from the room - airy and clean Nothing
- Kate (6/5): Loved the town, the location of the hotel was good, but compared to another onsen we stayed at it felt dated - Traditional ryokan onsen. Food was ok, (relative to another onsen we stayed at in Kinosaki) rooms in need of a refresh.
- Shigeru (8/5): -
- Sini (10/5): Great ryojan - Nice staff and it’s nice that they have their own Onsen.
- Rahkola (9/5): - The accommodation was lovely and the staff made us feel so welcome. We really enjoyed our stay here and the onsen hopping in yukatas together with the dinner and breakfast was everything we hoped for. We slept very well in the traditional futons. Thank you for everything!
- Stephanie (9/5): Gorgeous property, lovely staff, and great location - Beautiful old style ryokan
Super friendly, helpful staff
Lovely big room with a balcony
Great location to explore all the onsens

- Jan-Paul (8/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): - Excellent ryokan for the price, with its own private onsen, and very attentive staff. The room was quite spacious for 3 people, and the futon were very comfortable. Although the ryokan is on the other side of town from the train station, it was close to 2 of the public baths, so we did not mind.
- Ornella (9/5): Great ryokan! - We loved our stay there, they organize a shuttle bus for the pick up from the train station. You have everything you need, and all close by. th eplace it is great. It was too bad we coul not get the dinner, as they were fully booked.
- Darlen (10/5): Great stay near everything you might need - The property had an old vibe but was very well maintained. It was really clean and comfortable as well. The staff was super nice and accommodating overall. Kaiseki dinner was my favorite part. None at all
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karam (9/5): Fantastic stay, our favourite place we stayed in Japan! Spacious, clean room with a beautiful view. - The location was so good, the room was so spacious and beautiful, the staff was so friendly and helpful and the facilities include their own onsen, which was very nice to use for our first onsen experience. Probably our favourite stay in all of our 3 week trip in Japan. The room was obviously the most spacious we had, it was like a full living room. When we first entered the room, there was a tea set for us and some snacks on our table. The view was gorgeous, of the Sakura tree aisle. Very quiet room too. They provide everything you need for your stay, including yukata for walking around town, geta (sandals), towels for the public baths. You get one set of yukata+towels per day. They move the table and set up your bedding for you at night time, then clear it out again for you in the morning.
Note: there was no shower/bath in the room because they have their own onsen. I think it’s great and forces you to make the jump and go to their own onsen or the multiple onsens in town… that’s what we were there for anyway! The bedding was not super comfortable for us but that is definitely up to personal preference and it is part of the charm of the place (it’s traditional Japanese futon). We wished their offered a traditional ryoukan dinner but they did not. Plenty of delicious restaurants around though so we just wanted the experience, but the food in town is very good!
Note: the rooms would not be accessible for wheelchair users, as there were stairs at the entrance, and then stairs to get to the room, but no elevator available since it is an old building. Unsure if there were room that were accessible in their second building.
- Katarzynacd (6/5): Great location - It is located close to best onsens, it has all you need in the room, including outdoor bath. Nice onsen in the hotel. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The room was very small, to small for 4 peleryna family. There was a strong smell of cigarets in the room, very unpleasant. There were no baskets, only plastic bags to take things to onsens.
- Richard (10/5): Excellent experience at Kinosakionsen - very relaxing and enjoyable - Very nice, clean accommodation, very comfortable, very friendly staff. Old and traditional, great location
- Haleema (10/5): Great ryokan - more than a thousand years old. Stay in the history of a lovely onsen town! - The food, the service - the staff was very helpful, the location, the room is big - it's like having our own apartment but with service. Nothing.
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - Really lovely one-night stay at this ryokan in Kinosakionsen. Great location for wandering through the town and hopping between onsen! The twin room was very reasonably priced and we would definitely stay here again. We accidentally left a few items of clothing behind and the ryokan staff went above and beyond to send our items on to another accomodation and reunite them with us! Nothing
- Mary (9/5): Had a lovely soak in 2 of the onsens. Good nights sleep. - Staff very welcoming. Near all the onsens. Bar7 next door excellent. Nothing. All good
- Lisa (8/5): We had a experience at Sennennoyu Koman! - Wonderful tatami room and the staff were super friendly! It’s an amazing location and Yasaka Shrine is a stones throw away.
You can hear a lot between rooms because of the age and style of the building but everyone respected the quiet hours and it was totally manageable. We also brought a small sound machine and that came in handy for sleeping in.
Just a note: if you need a taxi for your departure - try to reserve the day before, the front desk can call and it’s ¥500 to reserve a scheduled time. We waited until that morning and the taxis were booked for 2 hours beyond when we needed to be picked up.
- Jinghao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional - Loved staying at this ryokan- the staff were top notch. The meals were gourmet. Loved staying at this great ryokan!
- Jinghao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (4/5): Disappointing - Would not recommend.
- Hanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashworth (9/5): Very relaxing stay in a spacious Japanese style room - Location was amazing. Easy to access all of the Onsen on foot. Short walk to station. Handy free shuttle bus picked you up from the station and took you to your Ryokan Nothing
- Holloway (10/5): Beautiful room and helpful staff - This is a beautiful ryokan, with exceptional service. The room was incredibly memorable.
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Filip (10/5): Great food - The staff was very helpful and the food was great The bathroom stinked like pee and the room looked a bit old, with stained walls. Also we were not informed that we had an onsen in the riokan until we left.
- Julianna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mira (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great, so perfect
- Morgan (9/5): Lovely stay. - The location was easy to get to from the train station using the free shuttle bus however it is also an easy walk from the train station.
The Japanese style room was comfortable with a balcony and lovely private bathroom and bath. It was easy to walk around the town and the onsens. A Yukata was provided and they had different sizes at accommodate our heights and instructions on how to fit them. There was also a nice warm coat and many shoes and boots to wear as it had been snowing.
- Angelica (8/5): Thank you for making our honeymoon dreams come true! we can't wait to be back soon! - Overall, experience was so great! One thing to note is that they should provide baskets instead of plastics for the onsen goers plastic bags for onsen
- Chee (8/5): Very good -
