- ADAM GEORGE (10/5): Absolutely fantastic experience! - We had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended! Everything was perfect.
- Chutima (8/5): - Location was good. Having free Shuttle bus service to train station. Dinner was very well prepared.
- Weihan (2/5): Don't recommend for the lack of service and for the location. The room was nice though. - The rooms were comfy and our room had our own private outdoor onsen, which was awesome! Place was quiet and the little restaurant that opens at 8pm has good ramen. Staff were genuinely friendly but was quite hard to communicate. It's impossible to contact the hotel unless you're IN the hotel. We emailed, dropped messages on booking.com, called - no response to any of these channels. Don't bother asking for help or asking for pickup when you arrive at the Shinkansen station. They simply do not reply or pick up. Good luck finding your way to the hotel from the Shinkansen station with your bags.
Location was really not good at all if you're looking to do skiing at Gala Yuzawa. There's a shuttle bus from the hotel to the shinkansen station, but generally that's not such a good idea to get to the ski base - better option is to use the orange and blue bus lines that bring you directly to the ski base. Unfortunately it's about a 7 min walk downhill from hotel to the bus stop (remember - it's uphill on your way back). Pretty steep! Don't mean to sound like a strawberry but there are better options around town without climbing mountains, especially if you have a lot of gear. There's also not much food options near the hotel, going to the lively street with all the restaurants is that same walk down and up the hill.
Lastly, there are no laundry facilities. Hotel doesn't provide laundry service, and the nearest laundromat is not walkable. You can wash clothes in the sink, but there's absolutely no place in the room to dry your stuff except a tiny towel stand which can hang 4 pcs of underwear and not a single t-shirt.
- taradon (10/5): - nice environment, onsen are super, in room facility is super too dark at the shower area
- Christopher (9/5): - Private in room onsen is wonderful and the ski hire / shuttle to and from the resorts was a welcome bonus. We have stayed here twice and plan on returning again.
- Joo Khai (5/5): Highly recommended but fell severely short of expectations - The hotel is not far from the JR Yuzawa station. So, it is convenient for those who take the JR train. But it requires to ascend up a slope of 200 meters. The hotel tries to create an extraordinary bathing experience within the room, but it is not conducive when the weather turns chilly. To take a deep at an outdoor Bath tub can be challenging.

- JULIANA (10/5): - Maravilhoso, tudo perfeito, quero voltar.

- Nicholas (9/5): - Location is a 5-7 minute walk from the train station. Hotel offers shuttle drop off.
Breakfast buffet is plentiful with nice variety of Japanese food with some western dishes mixed in.
Onsen after a day of skiing is incredibly relaxing.

- Martin (3/5): Some good, some bad - Good location. Nice Japanese style room. Dinner was very delicious. Lots of mix ups due to lack of English signs and staff not competent at speaking English, despite most of the guests being non-Japanese. Unfortunately my brothers winter boots went missing because we placed our boots in a “rental area” that was not made clear. He had to walk out in sandals in the middle of winter. Also it seemed a bit disorganized using the hotsprings as they switched from male to female hotspring area. The sauna badly needs to be rebuilt with new wood. So be aware of things here and bring your boots to your room!

- Tee Seng (10/5): Awesome, happy and recharged. - We love the hotel, the staff was extremely helpful and excellent service. The onsen was excellent and everything about the hotel is just wonderful. We will definitely stay here again.

- Craig A (9/5): Leave the city behind and catch your Zen after Amazing Station Shopping - Onsen facilities were AMAZING. Lots of different bathing areas inside and out that brought nature into your soak. Room was beyond great, with a view of Echigo Yuzawa city and mountains. Best sleep I had on trip. Massage chairs are the best value at 300 Yen for 15 minutes. Breakfast and dinner met expectations with wide variety of choices(breakfast) with amazing garden views. Staff accommodating and friendly. Location to station makes walking there a breeze. For an overnight get away about 1 hour away from Tokyo it is a gem! While dinner was as tasty as expected there was nothing stand out or unique about the selections, and breakfast buffet could have had more Nihon Ryori selections as opposed to being more internationally focused. The basics were there for both, but for the pricing I had higher expectations. The breakfast view more than made up as you got to eat while watching a garden waterfall.
- Barysbek (10/5): -
- Wai Kwong (9/5): -

- Jae Hyo (7/5): -
- BYRON (6/5): - We love Yuzawa as a get one night get away. We stayed here because someone in our party wanted a private Onsen in the room. The rooms are large and great for families. However, the property is a bit date and the in room tub was small. They have a beautiful waterfall. Too bad it’s not lit at night nor could we go outside to take pictures
- Andrew (9/5): A wonderful bathing experience - The many types of baths. First off, there’s men and women which interchange, then there is one facing the city and one facing the mountain, and that’s interchanged, then there are saunas, there’s a waterfall shower (very strong), then you can lie down , the there is a cave, then different water temperatures, then cement pebbles to acupressure your feet and back, indoor and outdoor pools. WOW! The food was well prepared each dish had a distinct flavor ( mostly Japanese). Mostly senior citizens. The artistic touches around the hotel were beautiful. The masterpiece being the myriad tiny waterfalls on a rocky slope. Weak WiFi signal from my room. Uphill hike from station with luggage. Better to arrange for shuttle which takes one minute.
- Chantachard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cherie (9/5): Superb - Outdoor onsens are perfect! Like them very much!
Dinners are delicious and portions are huge, suggest for customers who wanna stay here should take their dinner, no regret!
Breakfast also worth it, variety of choices, 2 days breakfast did not exactly same, appreciated!
Breakfast and dinner are the best among our 11 days in Japan of different hotels. Room a bit dented and furniture in room quite old and with many scratches.
Water pressure in shower room too small, and sometimes water heater not working. We rather too shower in onsen room.
- Irene (6/5): - Hotel provides shuttle bus to JR station frequently and is excellent, but the hotel is quite run down and needs a lot of upkeep
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Lyka (10/5): Beautiful Ryokan and Onsen that offers Kaiseki Meal near Gala Yuzawa - Onsen: I’ve been to different onsens but this by far is the best onsen and ryokan with multiple bath choices (both indoor and outdoor). The baths are even better in actual than in the pictures. Best during winter/spring with snow capped surrounding as background.
Food: Kaiseki meal was very good with different selections of seasonal produce. Breakfast also have a lot of choices, both japanese and western
Room: Very comfortable and quiet allowing good rest
Facility: Very clean, well maintained
Staff: Very kind and accommodating
- Kevin (10/5): Stayed with toddlers - First time in a Ryokan, breakfast and dinner were awesome just didn't know the rules but figured it out later. Hotel has tons of hot springs, loved every bit of it. Got massage, was super relaxed with toddlers. Had an outdoor tub in the room which was cool but with all the hot springs not necessary even.
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful spacious room. The osen was everything. Center of the cute neighborhood. Close to ski resort
- Chen Szu (6/5): -
- Nuntawat (10/5): Excellent -
- Hamish (10/5): Fantastic location, excellent staff and perfect facilities. Great onsen - Fantastic location, excellent staff and perfect facilities
- Joseph (8/5): Very good - Onsen was great! Front desk staff didn't speak english well.
- Hung (8/5): Very comfortable - Onsen is really good Nothing
- Gisela (9/5): Superb -
- Kam (9/5): Relaxation and value for money - Spacious room with comprehensive facilities, various ski equipments for rental, delicious breakfast and dinner, free on-site parking, hot spring bath, nice and helpful staff. The pillow is a little bit hard.
- Tanakrit (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holdgrafer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Chatchawan (10/5): Perfect - Very good so many thing in buffet line and high quality
- Hweehiang (9/5): Very satisfying - Love the onsen
The breakfast spread was good
The Kaiseki dinner was excellent
Making Mochi was fun, more demonstrations would be even better
The daily shuttle service was great
The lift ticket prices were good Nothing
- Vivian (8/5): Holiday winter with family - Good Good
- Sylvia (6/5): Pleasant - the traditional japanese room. there are restaurants in the hotel however they are not open at all. Guests have to walk down the slope to outside in the rain and snow just to have 3 meals a day.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fengzheng (8/5): Very good -
- Lai (9/5): Superb - We left some clothes in their onsen place. After checking out for two days, we were still able to retrieve them because their staff have been very considerate to have kept them for us.
- Yoko (8/5): Very good -
- Fernanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ka Wing (10/5): - Nice Japanese traditional environment and super nice staff
First time to sleep on tatami and the onsen is brilliant!
English is also ok!
- Joy (6/5): Could be better - The staff The place is old and shows its age. Could be better maintained
- Tan (8/5): Comfortable and valued for money. - Big room and clean. Onsen water has hot some chlorine smell.
- Khai (10/5): Exceptional - Authentic Japanese style tatami room and bed. Location is good and the food provided are awesome. Open air private onsen is provided in the room. Definitely worth the price
- Augusto (9/5): Good for a relaxing. - I had a very nice and spacious room with both internal and external bathtubs. The dinner was excellent, and the breakfast was very good (Japanese style). The staff was nice, and the environment was quiet. It was a nice experience. There is not much to say in terms of negative aspects. If you do not like the '80s, this is not the hotel for you. The breakfast room, particularly, is very '80s (in the Japanese sense). For me, this was a plus as it gave me a vibe of Japan that I could not experience in other places.
- Napapraw (8/5): Very good - The staff is very nice and supportive
- Serena (7/5): Good - The lobby and all the artwork around were lovely. The waterfall in the cafe area was beautiful. Food in the Ramen area was okay. The rooms were huge and very nice. I was probably expecting amazing views, but we didn't get that. The futon was a little thin for my liking, but the bedding was warm. Lighting was awful in the kitchen area. Coffee provisions with milk would have been nice. The traditional tea set was lovely, but I didn't know how to use it. It wasn't a bad stay it just didn't meet the high price for it.
- Churat (10/5): Exceptional - Onsen and dinner were excellent No
- Donna (10/5): We would definitely stay at this property the next time we are in the area. - Dinner and breakfast was fabulous with each offering a vast variety of food items. The outdoor baths in our rooms was truly an incredible experience that we'll always remember. There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
- Jyn (4/5): Disappointing - near station dinner not included soft drink , you have to pay more
and taste is normal when compare with price
- Chloe (5/5): Passable - Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were a little dusty and aged decor.
- Thitima (7/5): Good - Nice Keiseiki dinner. Compared to other ryokan in Japan at the same price range, cleanliness needs to be improved.
Hair dryer / dressing room full of dust
Room is quite worn out, floor need some renovation.
- Sumie (10/5): Beautiful hotel with unforgettable Onsen experience. - It seems like all the units have been renovated. My room was large with 2 sinks and very comfortable beds. Their Onsen was one of the most beautiful onsens I’ve stayed. They picked us up from Echigo Yuzawa station (people at the tourist information center can call them for you) and dropped us off whenever we needed a ride back to the station but it’s less than 10 min walk.
- E&s (10/5): Spetacular Japanese Hotel - Room: Traditional Japanese Style. It has a seating area with a view to the mountain. The bathroom has a shower and bath, both. The toilet has its own door so it's separated. Additional bedding in the closet can be used. It's very spacious for a couple. Daily local snacks and hotel newsletters in the room - they are also sold in the hotel store in case you like it. Although it's an older hotel, it's very organized and clean - it gives homey feelings.
Hot Springs (Public bath): 28 different styles in two floors, indoor and outdoor. Being in an outside hot spring with a view to the mountain when it's snowing is super comfy. 24 hours access to at least a few.
Service: There are robes (Yukata) with many different sizes - it can accommodate tall people. Women have even more options, colorful ones. Transportation to/from Yuzawa JR train station is available. Staff is very friendly. Some may not speak English, but we didn't expect that they would as we are in their country and we should be the ones trying to speak their language. We didn't experience any difficulties due to language.
Breakfast: Many options with chefs cooking on site, such as making grilled fish and omelet. The coffee cups are tiny, but you can use the ones at the western style breakfast session (it has bread and cold milk on the table), and then you will have a small American size coffee.
Location: In the center of the town, walking distance to train station, ski resort, and restaurants.
We love it and will visit again! None.
