- Nina and Thomas (8/5): - The hotel had cancelled our room when we arrived at 10pm, because they said they tried to run our card and it declined ( we recently had to cancel the card that we booked with because of fraud). I had opted to pay when we checked in. They gave us a room and it was fine. It was clean enough, but tired. It could definitely use some sprucing up, especially for $235 a night. The bathroom furniture was falling apart and was dirty along the skirting boards. They were sold out of water and also when we asked for a razor because we forgot one, they were out of them too. The morning staff were definitely more friendly.

- Robin (2/5): Worst hotel ever! - I waited at the front desk for approximately 10 minutes. I finally call the hotel & someone appears. I was greeted by, “are you a reward member” ….well you can’t check in until 3. This was at 2:25. Not a pleasant word spoken. After checking in I was informed I would not have cleaning service-they only do that every 7 days. I guess that explains the live roach in the room. If I needed towels I had to bring them to the front desk & place them in a basket (they touched nothing). Only then could I get a replacement. No coffee or water in the room. You must purchase everything from a vending area downstairs. Hallway carpet bubbled up from some type of water damage. Very old key card system. Worst hotel ever. Will NEVER stay again or recommend.

Opened the cabinets, cockroaches sprinted. Thought I should check the bed after that, found hairs in the sheets. Went to the desk, let the desk clerk know. She said she'd let the manager know, but didn't offer me a different room either. I left and slept at a Love's Travel stop in my car.

The bed sheets had blood and hair on them so we had to ask the front desk clerk (she was very polite and helpful and was the best thing about our stay) for clean sheets and we personally changed the sheets. - G2867KIgeorgeb (2/5): Dangerous and not one follow up phone call - SENIORS, MILITARY & TRAVELERS BEWARE! Arrived at Candlewood Suites in Tupelo, Mississippi on 15 Nov 2024. The location was convenient and near the interstate. We didn’t think much of it at the time but did notice some roofing company trucks parked together with several men gathered around in the rear parking area. The receptionist Kayla was very pleasant and the suite we stayed in was nice as well. We learned the laundry area had three washers & dryers which were free to use. This is when our problem began: When planned to do one load of laundry but the same roofing company workers, 4-5 young men were using all three washers and dryers. So we waited and about an hour only to find the same men there but now there were 6-8 men hanging around. My spouse and I are older seniors and I am a disabled veteran and was traveling thru without any means to really protect ourselves other than our dog who loves everybody. There was no security or protection and we noticed more of these men. We asked one of them if we could use one washer. We decided to sit in the already crowded laundry room and wait there. Finally one of them allowed us to use one washer. We started our one load of clothes but when we came back to check on it 15 minutes later we saw someone had unplugged the washing machine.. we asked them politely what the problem was. One guy said “no English” and thats when I let them know, in english, that we didn’t want any problems and just wanted to finish our one load of clothes. One of the smaller men plugged the washer back in and we restarted the washer but were still being harassed. Two of these guys actually followed me down toward the hallway to the reception area. They followed me to the front desk and stopped to lean on the wall with their arms folded and starring at me. I spoke to Kayla at the desk. I told her what was occuring. The lobby was empty except for Kayla, myself and the two men. They continued to watch and wait there. At this point I felt quite intimidated and told her what was going on. Kayla then stated the hotel had experienced problems with the same group of men before and that the police had been called for disturbing the other hotel guests and problems with drugs and alcohol. She said she felt uncomfortable as well and seemed a little nervous. After hearing that I told her we weren’t comfortable staying there any longer and let her know we were leaving immediately. I asked for my money back and we packed up to leave. It was late in the evening but I tried to place several phone calls from the safety of our vehicle. I spoke to one of their Hotel representatives and told him what was going on. He then transferred me to another lady representative and told her the same thing. I felt like I was wasting my time. I call the GM Porsha Fields number that was given to me at the desk. I left a message and never heard a word back. As we pulled out 4-6 guys began yelling at us in Spanish. We were definitely glad to leave this place. This hotel is completely unsafe. It is now December 10th 2024 AND NOW IT IS May 27 2025 and believe it or not we still haven’t received one single callback or message from anyone from this hotel or the hotel chain. If I had the time I would have hired an attorney but we are just glad to be out of there. I’ll never go back there and I hope that people that read this review understand this is absolutely an unsafe place and that this hotel and their chain don’t care at all about their guests. Can you imagine nobody took the time or bothered to call or check on us? This place, the management and their company is a disgrace and they should be ashamed. If I could give a zero rating I definitely definitively would! See Yelp as well!

- patricia (10/5): Great stay, clean maintained property - This was our second stay after we were well pleased with our first stay. Upon entrance to the property both grounds and outside of building is well maintained and clean. A quick, easy, and friendly check in. Rooms and lobby are clean, appliances function well, plenty of hot water- quick! Food choices are close by if you do not utilize the kitchenette. The area is safe, sits next door to holiday inn express - joining parking lots, easy access from freeway and good lighting around the property.

- Katie (2/5): Hot, smelly, and sticky floors - The lady who checked us in was nice Our room floor was sticky, the air didn't work well, I called and they said they'd send someone up the next morning, we never seen anyone and had to go buy a fan. The carpet is wrinkled and coming up in spots and I tripped and almost fell. We will not stay here again.

One was a pull-out bed through the sofa which was okay but the mattress had blood on it. We had to request sheets for the fold out bed as the room didn’t have any available.The sheets on both beds made our skin burn/itch. We will not be back .

The staff did their best and it was pretty smooth sailing for us once we got our key cards. Our room was tidy and had plenty of towels. The room and bathroom were clean. I did see a toenail near the shower but that’s really about it. It was a quiet area. We will stay again.
- Claudio (8/5): One of many options in Tupelo - Convenient for a short stay in Tupelo. Being pet friendly was a deal maker because the Holiday Inn next door is not. It felt expensive, but I suppose there's a high demand in the area due to Elvis Presley tourism. Nothing in particular.

Room was too hot thermostat not working lamps out towel rack fell off wall. Tv not working. Bathroom door wall protector attached with duct tape. Bed ok, room clean but not pleasant experience. Will not return or recommend.

- Karen (10/5): A Pleasant Stay - I loved it because the room was clean and the only sounds you heard was out in the hall when walking through. You could people talking through the doors of their room but in your room it was quiet. The beds was so comfortable as well. The staff was very friendly and walking through hotel smelled so fresh. Someone was always cleaning. I give them a A+ The only thing I didn't care for was when you walked in your room you tell the age of the hotel cause smell of old.

We were not notified that the room that accepted animals which is upsetting. This property is older and is need of a renovation.There are no housekeeping services. It was not a pleasant experience.
