Guest Reviews
- Anna (9/5): Gorgeous place to stay in a wonderful location. - This place is a hidden gem! Jenna has done an amazing job with the cottage - it’s in beautiful condition and the breakfast options were lovely and fresh. A minor thing to note would be that the shower can be a little hot - not a complaint just an observation!
- Christopher (8/5): Fantastic location and cute room. - Fantastic location. Room not ready, despite earlier request for early check in and confirmation that it would be ok. Room was also lacking simple requirements like mugs and a microwave. Mugs were provided when requested, but pretty basic item to be missing. Location was fantastic though - really quiet, clean and comfortable.
- Grzegorz (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Most enjoyable. - A great location and hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is very comfortable, well appointed and very clean. Nothing
- Juliane (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Very restful, peaceful and restorative, would highly recommend. - Tranquil location, stunning views, easy to find with good parking.
Very high quality B & B, extremely comfortable, well designed, every detail well considered and beautifully furnished.
Jenna was a great host and left us a super array of treats and breakfast goods for our Easter night away. We would have happily stayed much longer.
Great recommendations for eating out.
For dining in, there is a microwave and a two burner cooker, even a dishwasher!
The garden is professionally landscaped with guest seating to enjoy the space with views to the woods full of Bluebells. Nothing
- Stanislava (10/5): -
- Craig (10/5): Comfortable stay in great surroundings and with excellent bnb hosts - Very comfortable stay, with big comfortable bed and all in a quiet, beautiful location with really friendly and welcoming hosts.
We would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back again! Nothing
- Bethany (10/5): - The stay was lovely, the room was warm and cosy after a damp walk. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious and again well presented.
Small touches made it extra special. Would love to stay again.
- Claude (9/5): Great stay.
- Clare (10/5): Thank you Jenna! -
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfectly relaxing . - Two beautifully presented studio homes , one with a bedroom upstairs as well .
Suited us perfectly for a couple of nights while we attended a wedding nearby .
We had both the Barn and the cottage . If I was coming again as just a couple , I would choose the barn as it is more spacious .. but both were lovely. Jenna left generous breakfast ingredients . Linens were nice too . It’s in a 4G black spot .. so Sat nav difficult . Excellent Wi-Fi in the cottages tho.

- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Koen (10/5): A cosy B&B excellent for a couple or 4-party family in a quiet environment - Amazing location. Very nice host and private forest available for a little walk. The terras in front of the house is free to use and excellent to chill after a nice day. Breakfast was nice. Ashford Hangers national reserve are closeby and walkable by foot.
- Jurgis (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (9/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful peaceful spot. - Location in the countryside was great, the converted outbuilding was cosy, warm and had every luxury. We loved the cabin in the woods with a roaring fire, and enjoyed walks from the house. The breakfast was generous and delicious, with cook your own eggs and bacon, fresh bread, berries and jams. Nothing.
- Roger (9/5): Wonderful country cottage - Lovely setting.
Hosts were kind and attentive without intruding. Water pressure in showers.
Cooking area was a bit cramped.
- Ede (8/5): Lovely stay - Luxury bedding, everything good quality, cosy, great facilities in a small space, breakfast package a nice touch and beautiful surroundings. Owners gave great communication and very welcoming. Thank you Nothing really to complain about. Minor details could do with a mirror in upstairs bedroom and a welcome book with local recommendations, taxi numbers etc may be useful
- Dominic (10/5): Peaceful chalet - Very friendly hosts, very quiet location, glad I opted for this than a hotel
- Lucy (8/5): Very good -
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Hampshire countryside - Bootmenders is in a very tranquil, rural location yet within easy reach of many places of interest, excellent walks and good pubs within a few miles. We had the studio in the garden. It is very well equipped with its own galley kitchen and good sized ensuite walk-in shower. Ideal for one or two people, it is a very comfortable and relaxing home for exploring the region.
The welcome and ongoing support was warm, friendly and anything we needed was quickly provided. Nothing of note
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely place to stay. The hosts were so friendly. Thank you - Lovely, quiet location and comfy bed Small bath towels
- Sam (10/5): Next level. Thank you so much. - Absolutely wonderful setting. The gardens are beautiful and the informal and relaxed atmosphere most appreciated. A little more clarity regarding the layout of the two bedroom cottage would have been great but we may have missed this when booking so it could well be our fault.
- Erica (9/5): We had a fantastic stay and will be back to enjoy again. - Very well equipped, sweet cottage that exceeded our expectations. As others have commented, the photos don’t do the setting justice. The owner’s garden is stunning and added to our tranquil stay. Nothing to fault. Thank you.
- J (10/5): Country retreat with all the trappings - Large space, great kitchen and beautifully clean. The country location made it the perfect escape for relaxing and, for me, writing. Immaculate and great hosts. Felt really at home. Would recommend for a country break. I really cannot think of any real criticism of the property. I felt everything was catered for and I was made to feel very welcome and at home.
- Mark (10/5): Very comfortable and welcoming, we will definitely recommend it and use Bootmenders again. - Excellent host and a very comfortable accommodation. Having the facilities to make our own breakfast ( continental and cooked breakfast ingredients supplied ), was a real bonus due to our early morning starts over the weekend. Nothing.
- Katy (9/5): Rural location, comfortable stay. - Quiet rural location. Well kitted out self contained accommodation. Small but functional and comfortable. Nice garden area and host was welcoming and offered to provide recommendations and assistance if we had needed it. Great for two of us but would have been a squeeze with more if sitting down to eat etc. However, the accommodation is as described and having read description and reviews we knew what to expect so were perfectly happy.
- Anita (10/5): An absolute gem in idyllic surroundings. - Exceptional accommodation. Great care has obviously been taken with every detail. Most times it’s the little things that make all the difference and Jenna has thought of everything- for us the underfloor heating in the bathroom & kitchen was a game changer and we loved the personal touches that made for a real homely feel. Nothing
- Sue (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing break - Excellent variety of food/drink
Comfortable well appointed clean accommodation
Superb location
Beautiful garden and surroundings
- Tony (10/5): I would definitely stay here again. It was a lovely location and very comfortable - Breakfast was lovely, a good choice of items to start the day.
- Nicola (10/5): Superb little cottage - A delightful little cottage in a peaceful countryside location.
The owners were very welcoming and provided us with bread, milk, eggs, granola and fresh fruit for breakfast at our leisure, as there's a little kitchenette in the cottage.
Lovely and clean, hot shower, comfy beds and seating areas inside and out.
Highly recommend! Just be aware that the ground floor is open-plan, so the big bed is in the main room. We liked it though, as we could sit on the bed to watch TV together!
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was lovely. The accommodation was very clean, cosy and warm. The views were lovely and we did some nice walks. Perfect.
- Philip (9/5): Good base for exploring area - Quiet country location
Comfortable bed
Good location for exploring area Somewhat small but the price reflects that
Breakfast is DIY but they did supply the ingredients
- Nicolas (10/5): Excellent as usual ! Will come back again ! -
- Jo (10/5): Lovely cosy cottage - Perfect stay for our family! The children absolutely adored running around the beautiful garden. Beds were incredibly comfortable, hosts couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommend. Nothing - absolutely spot on.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kurt (9/5): A lovely bolthole in idyllic setting - Ideal for families as upstairs bedding for children. Lovely garden/woodland setting. Central location for motorway access.
- Linda (9/5): Superb - The cottage is small but comfortable. But with a garden like that, there is no need for a large indoor sitting area. The woods behind the garden are just amazing. Could spend there the entire day and watch the squirrels squirreling, or deerspotting in the evening. The only thing I can think of is that we missed a langer spoon to serve some soup.
- Siobhan (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): A quiet and relaxing countryside stay! - Everything was wonderful - the location was close to a local town with everything you could need within a ten minute drive, but the cottage itself was remote enough to be perfectly quiet and relaxing. It's beautiful little cottage, in the stunning gardens of a lovely house and all the facilities were great. The breakfast was more than plenty, and the host was friendly and welcoming without ever being overbearing.
- Andy (9/5): Long weekend away, very likely to go again. - Good breakfast ingredients provided.
Quiet rural location.
Convenient for some great scenery and attractions.
Jenna was very helpful. Nothing.
- Andrew (10/5): Goodwood staycation - Excellent location, breakfast, lovely, and a lovely host would definitely stay again. Nothing to write , no negative thoughts.
- Skerritt (10/5): A beautiful cottage set in idyllic gardens, with kind and generous hosts. - Breakfast was provided in the room and was lovely. It was discussed in advance with the hosts and was flexible based on our likes and dislikes.
The rooms were lovely and clean, a fan was provided, the setting is absolutely stunning. Nothing!
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Beautiful, cozy cottage in the English countryside - We loved staying at Bootmenders! Thank you, Jenna, for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful cottage and for providing the most delicious breakfast, especially the hot cross buns for Easter! Bootmenders was exactly as we had hoped it would be - a homely, cozy cottage surrounded by a lovely winter’s garden. The main room was warm, the bed was very comfortable and the little kitchen was well appointed for preparing our breakfast. Nothing. We would stay again - especially, in the summer, when we could really explore the garden and do some of the local walks.
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arnab (7/5): Wonderful location. Good for a couple with kids. Some problems with connectivity - The location is excellent, in the middle of nature but easy access to Petersfield by car. Lovely grounds and outdoor seating area.. You wake up to a wonderful dawn chorus. The breakfast provided in the cottage is good and you can ask for refills if you need. Jenna and her family were very welcoming and generous. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a generous size. It was not fully clear that the downstairs bedroom, kitchen, lounge and access to the bathroom was through one space. We thought there was two separate bedrooms and a common lounge, kitchen area This meant a lack of privacy and storage for those downstairs. The property is great for a couple with kids but not good for more than 2 adults. The Bootmender's wifi was out of action unfortunately. The family generously allowed us to go in the main house to access the house wifi for a while. There is also no phone signal in the cottage. The kitchen is in a tight space under the stairs but is well equipped, though no oven. Good for quick small meals. The TV has an inbuilt DVD but the remote does not work very well.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- Eddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Jenna was amazing. Location to die for.
Beautiful location wow Jenny made us feel so welcome. And even cooked our roast dinner as well my mistake 🙃
- Kerry (10/5): Cosy and relaxing. - Being surrounded by fields and woodland, it was cosy, quiet, and very relaxing. The host was very welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfast was lovely. We will definitely be staying again. Nothing, it was perfect.
- Olivier (9/5): Superb - The cottage is in a great location, the ground is large and beautiful. Nothing really.
- Steven (10/5): Stunning stay - Location was stunning. Jenna, our host was really helpful, giving areas to visit and making sure we had everything we needed.
The cottage is so lovely. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
- Green (10/5): Exceptional - It was lovely we couldn't have asked for more. The rooms were thoughtfully designed & hosts very friendly .
- Sue (9/5): Really enjoyable. - Excellent breakfast provisions. Fab dishwasher. Cosy feel to the property. Comfy beds. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. Car parking. all good but timer was off on bathroom heating but landlady helped us to rectify it.
Couldn't find wifi code for the first day so would be good if there was a card on the table telling guests what the code is.
