The check in process was easy and the communication with the owner was perfect. We stayed here with our grandson and we enjoyed the space tremendously. The apartment felt like home and was beautifully appointed. The building the apartment is in is the perfect blend of charm with modern touches. We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Cadiz. We loved everything about this property.

The hotel is a hidden gem, you won´t see the entrance right away until you stand right in front. They did an amazing job embedding this modern hotel into an ancient building; amazing staff , super helpful. This is not a party hotel, this is a spot to slow down and relax really nothing to improve.. if you want to get an exceptional hotel, you have to accept the exceptional prices

• Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional property, five star boutique hotel in the charming gothic quarter! - The staff were exceptionally pleasant, professional, and helpful in every way and spoke perfectly fluent English with great recommendations. The location in the Gothic Quarter is super convenient, with many small shops and top rated restaurants located very close in the safe neighborhood, and the hotel doors remained secure 24/7 with keycard access after hours and round-the-clock staff. The rooms were spotlessly clean, amenities updated, and design was authentic to the online photos. The rooftop pool was a vip secluded hang out spot which is perfect for small groups or couples. Absolutely worth the money for this great property! Impossible to control, but there was loud partying in the street at all hours, which happens all over the city.

• Scenic147719 (10/5): Amazing hotel in the centre of Gothic quarter - I have just got back from a trip to Barcelona with husband and 2 children. We stayed at the Arai aparthotel on a jet2 package. This hotel is gorgeous and I would definitely come back. It is situated in the Gothic district which has the most wonderful charm for the city and much better than the tacky bustle of Le Rambla. It is very central to everything and close to 2 metro stops - Liceu and Jaune 1 making it easy to get around the city. The amenities are perfect, comfy bed, kitchen with everything you need - pans, full size fridge (which is stocked with wine if you want to pay mini bar price but was reasonable), toaster, kettle etc. Bathroom is gorgeous with great shower pressure and white company products. The decor in this hotel really makes it stand out, the pictures do not really do it justice. It smells amazing throughout, daily cleaning if you want it. The hotel staff were very supportive and welcoming. They are quick and efficient. There is a luggage store for final day and checkout was not until noon! Very helpful. Next door is a lovely tapas restaurant which is also a must try. On the roof top there are some gorgeous views of Barcelona and a great place to watch the sun go down with a glass of Cava. There is a pool which was too cold to go in this time of year but in the summer would make a nice addition. Honestly could not fault this place and would consider coming back again.

• Godsowncounty (10/5): Beautiful hotel - This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel. We booked two rooms to stay in with our teenage children and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The rooms were unlike anything we've stayed in before, and the location is hard to beat. It's surrounded by delicious places to eat and lovely independent shops. It's a short walk to the seafront and the Rambla. Don't miss the rooftop pool, even if you're not brave enough to go in the water - the views are gorgeous. Can't recommend it highly enough, and hope to be back again soon.

Letti comodi, stanza abbastanza silenziosa, grande ma non grandissima... se devo trovare un difetto un po' piccino il bagno. Comoda la cucinetta in camera. molto bella l'estetica della camera, e dell'hotel, ben rifinito e ben curato nei dettagli e nel decoro sobrio importante ma mai pacchiano, anzi molto elegante; spazi rinnovati da poco, tutto molto pulito. Stanze e servizio impeccabili, personale disponibile, gentile e di aiuto per ogni richiesta. Molto comoda e piacevole la piccola piscina sul tetto. Perfetta sia per grandi che per chi viaggia con bambini. La gestione delle cappe di aspirazione sul tetto nell'area piscina in cui purtroppo è capitato ci fosse odore di fritto... poco gradevole, la pulizia dell'acqua. Essendo piccola la vasca richiede un ricambio continuo o servirebbe, in caso dell'uso della vasca da parte di più persone in contemporanea un filtraggio forzato più forzato.

Amazing vintage decor with the most comfortable bed ever, the best shower we have ever encountered, with great settings and really good water pressure. The Taxi from the airport took us straight to the front door. An excellent location to walk to many places to visit in Barcelona. We would certainly recommend this hotel and return again in the near future.

• Celtic_Ulysses (10/5): Charming historic suite in the Gothic Quarter - Charming hotel in a very convenient location in the Gothic Quarter. Easy to walk anywhere. Metro station not more than 10 minutes by an easy walk. Although it does not have a restaurant, there is one right next door, as well as a coffee shop right across the street. This is an historic building with character, something we deliberately sought. Still, we had both a large bedroom area and living area, which was able to sleep two more adults. The room included a cooktop, refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom had a full tub and a rain shower head high enough for tall guests. The staff were very accommodating and conversant in English.

We can't wait to stay here again. - The hotel is very beautiful and historic, with a balcony that overlooks a lively town square. The neighborhood (Gothic district) is very charming and full of things to see, do, and eat. We didn't take advantage of the pool or restaurant in the hotel, but the space itself was beautiful and the staff was very kind and helpful. The only negative thing I have to say (and this is probably true for the entire Gothic district) is how difficult it is to get to and from via car. The easiest way out of the quarter is to ask the front desk associates to order a taxi if you need it. But it's an easy problem to navigate and we'd absolutely stay here again!

It is convenient to all of the food and fun in the Gothic Quarters of Barcelona. My room was fabulous and I love that I could cook in my room if I wanted. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful, which for me makes or breaks any experience for me in the service industry. I had friends who stayed at the hotel and heard the rooms are all unique. I was in Room 54, which is AMAZING! I hope to stay at Hotel Arai again when I return to Barcelona.

Separate sofa beds was a perfect set up for us. Staff were friendly & very helpful. It was a little noisy at night time but nothing that you wouldn’t expect in a big city & it didn’t spoil our stay.

Limited channels on the TV, only one English channel world news. For the nightly rate I would except a lot more choice.

• Ofra (2/5): - Absolutely Horrible Stay. Do Not Book Here. I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was the worst experience of my life. On my last day, I discovered that my safe had been tampered with. I had locked it multiple times (I double-check constantly due to OCD), and yet when I went to check out, realized it was open. My $5,000 diamond ring and €1,000 in cash were stolen. When I reported this to management, they promised to call me back with an update but never did. It’s been over a week, and I’ve heard absolutely nothing. Their response at the time was dismissive and unprofessional — no concern, no investigation, no help. I already posted this review on Google, and the lack of follow-up confirms just how little they care about guests. On top of that, the hotel itself is the loudest and most chaotic place I’ve ever stayed. Guests were partying outside until 6–7 AM, and walls are paper-thin — you hear everything from other rooms. Sleep is impossible. Even when asking for something as simple as extra coffee pods, staff made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The entire stay gave off a terrible, unsafe energy. Combine that with theft, cold service, and zero accountability, and it’s clear this property is not worth the money or risk. I spent 2.5 weeks in Spain staying at multiple hotels and never once had an issue — only here. If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, or even the chance of a decent night’s sleep, stay far away from this place.

The view of Plaça George Orwell was beautiful. The room was quiet. Staff were amazing. A small complaint was that the water in the bathroom smelt when we first arrived. With use it went away. We never felt the bathroom was unclean or anything, just maybe the bathroom hadn't been used in a while—who knows. The TV had limited channels, but we weren't there to watch TV. If you care maybe bring a computer and an HDMI. The location was difficult for Ubers to find. We had to walk to Plaça Sant Miquel for pick up and drop off. The front desk was able to call taxis directly to the hotel though.
• Amanda_Brizell (10/5): Beautiful hotel, warm staff & very comfy big beds - We loved this hotel so much, I'd go so far as to say it is my favourite ever. The welcome was warm, the place is pristine and the rooms lovely. They are large enough so that if (like us) you have the sofa bed pulled out it can stay out without getting in your way. The sofa bed is also a very good quality one and my daughter was really comfortable in it. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the square - for the first 3 nights you could only hear a 'hum' of conversation and it didn't bother us at all. On the last night it was awful because a couple of groups decided to start squealing at 3am. But I honestly don't think you could find anywhere in Barcelona that isn't at risk of hearing street noises. Super powerful shower which never ran cold, small kitchenette (which we didn't use). The rooftop pool was a delight - small, and only a handful of loungers/chairs but just perfect to have a cooling soak after the heat of the city. There's no real shade up there though, which would have made it perfect. The hotel provide towels for the pool and they are lovely big waffle towels, it would perhaps be an idea to leave these for guests in the room as sometimes there were none out. It would also have helped as you could use it to give yourself some modesty when walking up to/back from the pool. You can get breakfast delivered to your room, but we opted to walk to a bakery for coffee & pastries in the mornings. There are countless places to eat close by, but if you're unsure the hotel staff will point you in the right direction. On our last day we checked out and asked the hotel to store the bags as we didn't leave until after 7pm. They happily did this and also made it clear that we were welcome to continue to use the pool, shower etc until we left Barcelona. This was really appreciated! Thank you Arai, if we come back to Barcelona this is definitely where we will stay x
• Saviz (10/5): - We had a great experience, family of 4 with 2 teenagers. The roomie big enough and clean. Love that the hotel is in the local area so we experienced the real Barcelona life. The hotel is pricy but we were happy with our choice.
• Sallah (10/5): - Hotel has alot of character, rooms large and unique and kitchen was a plus. Staff was ver helpful. Pool could use some shade, maybe umbrellas.

• Pamela (10/5): Great airport stay for families. - The hotel pool is nice for a quick dip. The connecting rooms for families is really nice and the complimentary mini bar drinks and snacks were very welcome- I wish all hotels offered that. The buffet breakfast had great variety but it is overpriced.

• Sabooh (8/5): Fabulous location and wonderful staff - Unbeatable location in the gothic quarter, close to La Rambla and metro station. Staff are very courteous and helpful. A little but noisy on the street facing rooms but to be expected given the location and the bedrooms were a bit warm overnight.
• Kristina (10/5): - Lovely location with so many things in walking distance to see and do. Staff was exceptionally helpful and kind. The rooms are so well appointed with a kitchenette, fridge, and comfortable bed. Would stay again!
