Guest Reviews
- Danny (8/5): - Have many options of street food, great opportunities to try local food
- ROBERT (10/5): - Nice spacious rooms and complimentary water, firm bed and clean sheets. Great service.
- KELLY (6/5): It was acceptable in a quiet area - We booked on hotels.com/expedia, hence we were assigned a ground floor room for 3 nights. On final night, felt smoke from other guests who smoked right next to our room, which is also the side entrance, didn't sleep well due to this. Overall, okay.
- Dale (8/5): Nice location - Location was great, across from the moat and near the North Gate night food market, restaurants and a gym. They have not reopened their own restaurant following the pandemic. Accommodations were fine, although no way to access the small balcony.
- Mathias (10/5): Nice stay in Chiang Mai - Overall good hotel, value for the buck!
- Alison (10/5): - There was one day that I went to the elephant sanctuary and left my entire wallet full of cash in the room. When I came back, not only was it still there intact but my room was clean. I loved how close the hotel was to everything and the room was spacious. I would stay here again
- KH (6/5): 3 day stay- Average - Room had no windows so it was poorly lit.
Wifi was poor and had to log in everytime you came back.
TV outdated so no youtube etc.
Cleaners failed to replenish tea/coffee one day and failed to replenish free water on another.
Has free car parking but is not sign posted.
The hotel reception is to the right and in a corner as you walk in, so there is no interaction with them unless you go over to the desk.
The hotel has seen grander days, in need of an overhaul.
I didn’t find the hotel staff particularly friendly.
Walls paper thin.
I would not recommend
- Cassandra (10/5): - The location is very convenient and the staff are very nice
- Geanna (10/5): Amazing stay for the price. Would stay again - Great hotel, stayed for 4 nights and would stay again. Room was slightly dim - like other reviews have mentioned - but its barely a negative when you consider the size of the room itself. Great little table so hotel eating doesn't have to be on the bed. Clean. Comfy bed, great pillows, awesome shower. Tv was a little static-y, but you're not in Chiang Mai to stay in your room. Fantastic location.
- Thein (10/5): - It was clean
- Deanna (10/5): - I loved this hotel. 10/10 would stay here again
- Victor (6/5): - Poor lighting in the bedrooms
- Svein Erik (10/5): - Had a very nice stay here.
We stayed two days longer than expected.
- LEE (8/5): - The hotel still well maintain.
- Natalia (8/5): Clean and good location. - It was a good place to stay solo, it was clean and had a security box in the room. They have tour information and help you. Breakfast wasn’t included but near by you can find plenty of choices. The soap and shampoo dispenser didn’t work but water pressure was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the hotel was very clean and nice. Great location for walking around. Staff very friendly. The AC was a little wonky we had some warm nights in the hotel. Make sure you close the bathroom door when not using it they have wondows that don't close so all the ac is going out.
- Johnson (8/5): For savings and convenience, this one is fine. - Closely located near Old Town, this hotel is for the budget-mi ded. Good value for money.
- Mr Harbhajan Singh (8/5): Clean hotel - Nice clean welcoming hotel. The room I booked was big and clean. There are many restaurants nearby, well within walking distance of 5 minutes. Although away from the night market area, it is a busy area within the tourist hotspots.
- Nico (8/5): - Sehr gutes Frühstück, große Auswahl. Die Lage ist gut.
- Richard (6/5): Subpar stay - The pictures online and the room you are provide differ vastly. There is a weird aroma throughout the hotels second building which is where all the guest stay to my knowledge.
- Katrin (8/5): Fint hotell - Rolig og fint hotell. Ganske lytt ut til gangen. Veldig sentralt.
- Stephen (8/5): - Spacious room, comfortable, and staff excellent.
- Mari (8/5): - Good value for clean and functional accommodation. Walking distance (1/2 hr to Sat night market, 15 min to Sun night market) to activities. Breakfast is adequate.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Ygor (10/5): - Great hotel, well located, but no staff could speak good English.
- Angie (10/5): - Had a very pleasant stay here. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cooked my wife’s eggs as she liked them.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice room, service and breakfast. Only thing is, you can hear everything around your room. If there are tourists staying during your time there, good luck sleeping before midnight.
- R I D C (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel - Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and spacious for the price. The hotel has laundry service too. The location was also very convenient and down the road is a bar with live music and so entertaining meant is not far. I highly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A really great value, very clean, decent breakfast
- b (10/5): - Would stay there again! Perfect location. Staff and info desk were excellent!!!
- Kishor (8/5): Nice hotel. - Nice, comfortable, clean, mordern hotel. Excellent room but dark. Needs more lights. Only one small light in the cealing. Reception staff seem a bit reserved and were preocccupied with their mobis. Breakfast - excellent. Location - good. Wi-fi ok but imtermittant during the evening peak periods. Recommand this hotel.
- louise (6/5): Nice stay - The hotel is very well presented and very clean and modern. The room was a good size. The beds are on wheels and not fixed to a wall so they do move around a bit on the shiny floor. Also they've gone for ambient lighting which translates mostly as dark which is a shame.
The staff are very pleasant and willing to help with all enquiries.
The breakfast if not included in room price is 500 baht. This is expensive for the area and there are signs round the room insisting you eat in silence. A few doors down is a lovely cafe that does great pancakes or bacon and eggs etc for much cheaper prices and very tastes!!
- tan (8/5): - good location, good price
- nice (8/5): breakfast is normal soft bed. big room - it was nice
- Xiaodong (10/5): good choice to stay in old city - very clean room and comfortable stay, very convenient to old town centre by a short cut from carpark to access Prapokkloa Rd to three kings monument
- Benedict (8/5): We loved this hotel - All of Thailand is hot all the time. Chiang Mai was 2 degrees C break but still hot.
- Rob (10/5): Modern, Clean, Friendly Hotel in Old City Center - We were very comfortable at the Roseate Hotel. It is conveniently located just inside the old city walls. Close to everything. Near restaurants and shops. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is an elevator and a small gym. Good breakfast buffet. Room was clean and spacious with good AC and Wifi. We would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel shakes a lot - Hotel shakes as if unstable -it was very unnerving - just because someone is running down the hall your bed should not shake. First time I experienced this. Reception left a lot to be desired but there was a lady there who organized the trips and she was amazing.breakfast was not good -most of the things were stale including the fruit
- Robert (8/5): Return Visit - Welcoming and Comfortable
- Robert (8/5): Living on 'North Terrace' - Very comfortable and . . . we will be returning soon :o)
- Verified traveler (8/5): A nice and affordable hotel - Its a nice small hotel, in a good location in the old city of chiang mai. The rooms are big and comfortable,. The hotel staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Free breakfast was great and a good way go start the day. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked very well.
- Alice (8/5): 3 days stay with friends - The room we booked is a superior double room which is very spacious for just two people, and the bed size is very big for two!
The shower is alright - don't find it too hot or too cold when using it.
The only down side I would say is the lights in the room - a bit dimmer than I expect though all lights are switched on.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel has 2 buildings the rear rooms are good the front rooms near road old and noisy
- Dor (4/5): Not bad, could be better with friendlier staff - Staff was not that friendly and helpful. Requested for 7am packed breakfast the night before as told by the staff but upon morning when we asked about the packed breakfast, staff told us to have it in the restaurant because the breakfast buffet is now open. We were going for a tour and we know that we will take some time to eat thus we requested to packed the breakfast to eat on the move. In the end, they make us waited while they pack the breakfast. Also when we requested the night before for airport transfer at 12nn, they told us there is no driver when we check out at 12nn. In addition, their manager confirmed with my friend that the 100 baht/pax for airport transfer is ROUND-TRIP, but again their staff argued it is for single trip! And somehow, we were told that we did not give them the 100 baht/pax when we arrived on the first day. How is it possible that they did not collect from us when obviously they are doing a business and money is important to them. We were very sure that we gave. We didn't want to waste time to potentially missing our flight by arguing with them. We left and got on the red taxi who took 4 of us at 150 baht.
- danny (8/5): Nice modern decor , clean hotel. Good toilets - Nice modern new hotel , good size room, friendly reception , clean toilets , no bath tub
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, big room - Hotel is in good location just inside the old city's north gate. Walking distance to most popular temples and short ride to night market. Room is spacious, clean, and stayed cool.
- Brian (8/5): great hotel in ChiangMai! - cleanliness of room/hotel is great!
hotel reception service was good, although there was some issue with the airport shuttle - hotels.com website mentioned that it's 100thb per person (round trip) but they informed it's not round trip but one way instead. however after talking to their manager, the lady manager acknowledge its a problem between them and hotels.com instead and honors the round trip airport shuttle as advertised. everything else was great, from the room to the hotel environment. we've even rented our motorbike and also a day trip to Chiang Rai with the tour within the Roseate hotel itself.
- B&B (8/5): Good Location in great condition - My wife and I stayed for a week and found the clean and the bed was great, after a long flight we slept for a day and a half.
A great location for walking around the city.
- Scott (6/5): Just ok, breakfast was good - I probably would try somewhere else next time I'm in Chiangmai. The breakfast buffet was really good so if you stay here take advantage of it, but overall for the price the hotel was just kinda meh. It was clean and safe, but not in the most convenient location as far as being inside the old city walls. It was quiet and clean though, I just think I could probably save 25% or so if I stayed somewhere else. They do have a cheap laundry service that was really quick so that's another plus. I'm not disappointed with the hotel, but I'm not impressed either.
- Natalie (10/5): Very nice clean hotel inside walls of Old City - Roseate was a really nice hotel that is located just inside the Old City walls. May not be an ideal location but it was less expensive than hotels in the heart of the older city and was clean and comfortable and a decent free breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good for sightseeing base - Very clean room. Quiet room at back. Excellent on site tour desk.
- Prajesh (2/5): Beware - Combined with the poor housekeeping, facilities, staff and behavior of the front desk, i would highly recommend staying somewhere else. Closer to the night market would be the best as it gives you the old city and the night market.
We had four rooms for five nights. For one room, the door lock did not work and had to be fixed EVERY Day. My sister and brother in law had an unlocked room for one of the nights because of this. No apologies or change of rooms was allowed. For another room, they claimed we cracked the glass on top of a small side table. We did not even notice it when we checked in but even if we did crack it, we should not have to pay a 1000 bhat for a piece of glass. The front desk argued with us when i asked for the price list and threatened to call the police if we did not pay in cash. I have never experienced anything like this in my years of travel around the world. It frankly took me by surprise, especially in Thailand. The third room, we needed a roll in bed for my nephew. The bed cost half the cost of the room and the slats on the bottom of the bed were broken and as mattress was only three inches thick, it was not comfortable.
The rooms were not cleaned as evident by the bathroom mildew and dirt on floor. This is supposed to be a new hotel but it does not look new from what we saw.
- Wipawee (8/5): Central area and good condition hotel - I had a good time with my husband. Although we were out most of the time, this hotel provided us a good rest in another heart of Chaingmai
- Erick (6/5): Good hotel at a good price - Roseate Hotel is a clean and relatively inexpensive hotel local on the northern perimeter of the Old City portion of Chiang Mai. Access to the heart of the Old City will require about a 15-20 minute walk. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable with strong in-room WiFi, and the buffet breakfast was quite good with a varying, fairly expansive selection of both Western and Asian options.
The criticisms I would have of this property is the room feels rather "sterile" and soulless from its decor, and the feel of the room I think could be significantly improved with more lighting and less use of tiny florescent lights. The floor layout is also a bit peculiar requiring navigating some ramps, but nothing onerous.
Overall I think this a fine property for the price. If you want to easier access to the heart of Chiang Mai, however, there may be better options.
- Will (10/5): Nice stay - Clean and modern. I was in room 224. No view but a nice room. AC worked very well. Bathroom was large with a good shower. Very quiet. Had a king bed that was very comfortable. Good WiFi. Breakfast is ok, not great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very convenient location in Chiang Mai - Located in the heart of the old city and very accessible to all amenities of the surrounding areas, including Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
- Amanda (8/5): Great, inexpensive hotel - We came to Chang Mae for a couple of days and stayed at this hotel. It was conveniently located in the old city and was near good food and a close walk to many temples. The hotel also offered a nice breakfast. The rooms were fairly basic, but nice; we had no complaints. The bed was large and comfortable and there was plenty of room for the both of us. The staff was also helpful. They made a phone call in thai to confirm a recommendation for us and held our bags the last day we were there. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
- Malcolm (8/5): Fairly central location good value hotel - Good hotel the only negative is if you have a room at the front of the hotel the traffic noise is very intrusive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay. Had a good location and easy to find. The breakfast could be better but over all it was good. Location was the best part.
- Cap (10/5): Clean hotel - The hotel was very clean and new. The washroom was very nice and clean. The breakfast buffet has English and Thai choices. Would stay again. Lots of choices to book tour at hotel. Gets nosy as hotel is on the main road.
- Cali Chuck (10/5): Great New Hotel - Best for the Money - The Hotel is very new and the ambiance is great. The rooms are very spacious with ceramic tile floors. New flat screen TV's and the bathroom was great. The water is warm to hot but it does pulsate. The breakfast was very good and the dining room is very modern. Their is a good mix of Thai and western food. The food could have been hotter at times. The staff were great and did everything to make sure my stay was great. Meu on the travel desk was especially friendly and helpful. This will be my go to hotel on all future trips to Chiang Mai. The location is on the outer street of the old city but it was only a 10-15 minute walk to the center and the Sunday Walking street.
- M (8/5): good location - Like: The best part of it is the location. Easy to find, and seems that lots of the drivers know the place. Dislike: Breakfast is crowded.
- Verified traveler (4/5): disappointing - there was nobody at the reception desk, we had to wait for a long time. No laundry although it is said there was.
Bathroom was not very clean.
We had an energy cutoff the night and were obliged to light candles. no apologies from the staff.
- Christine (10/5): Nice and Clean Hotel - We enjoyed a good variety and delicious breadfast every morning.
- Lloyd (8/5): A pretty hotel with a reasonable location. - The Roseate is a series of interconnected building. We had to take a elevator and then walk down an incline and then up a flight of steps to get to our room.It is located on the edge of the old city so is not in the heart of town. It is modern and clean.
