Guest Reviews
- Wendy (6/5): Comfy bed and really great shower - Great location for the wedding at The Manor of Hurst A bit dated but that’s just personal opinion
- Philip (9/5): Well equipped - Location
Room Facilites
Nice Bar Nothing
- David (8/5): Perfect for a quick, good value overnight stay. - Clean, tidy. Friendly staff. Great value. Easy key drop check out. All good really.
- Corinne (9/5): -
- Grealis (9/5): - Accomodation was very good and clean. Everyone was very friendly. I would stay there again, it was good value but I wouldn't eat there The food. We could not eat the breakfast and don't know what tea they used but I couldn't drink it.
- malcolm (7/5): -
- Church (7/5): Not bad, apart from the toilet and breakfast. - Breakfast was for 9:30 it' was changed to 10:30.
It was to late, cancelled it. Toilet was leaking at bottom small puddle of water
At the back of toilet was a container with dirty water in it now lead on it.
- Jeff (7/5): - Good standard Four separate requests, via Booking . Com, direct email and phone for a receipt for my business accounts fell on deaf ears despite promised responses. Spent over £1,200 with them for a 3-person working stay.
Rooms are decent enough although were not cleaned all week, pub and food excellent but in this high tech world this was the first time in 40 years of working away to not be furnished with a receipt at some stage.
Such a simple request not fulfilled. Very poor.
- Dave (10/5): -
- Martin (10/5): All good, as it always is when I stay there 👍 -
- Maureen (7/5): -
- Cliff (7/5): - Room excellent. Plenty of parking. Quiet location but only 3 mins drive to the centre of Wokingham. Restaurant menu rather limited unless you like Thai food. Breakfast also limited but not starting until 9am was too late for us.
- Helena (10/5): -

- Reynolds (10/5): - I felt very welcomed and at home . The staff were all uniquely embracing in their own way. A lovely local pub with local people. Didn't want to leave .
- Chris Mooney (9/5): A pleasant apparently family run pub offering a very warm welcome: conveniently situated. - Breakfast was the only bone of contention: your website recommended the inclusive breakfast: in fact breakfast was NOT available at all - and there was a notice clearly stating this at the property: apparently they will begin to serve breakfast next month. The lack of breakfast was not a problem for me, as I eat breakfast only occasionally. The fault, I think lies with your description. Breakfast - had I needed it !
- Lisa (9/5): - It was very quiet and clean. The staff is very polite and helpful
- Tony (8/5): -
- Marcos (6/5): -
- Ivan (7/5): -
- Graham (7/5): Nice room, disappointing experience at breakfast. One hot drink charged extra for , 1 slice of toast - The cooked breakfast was good, however we charged extra for a coffee . No cereals ,or juice and only 1 slice of toast served with breakfast , no jams or marmalade. The 10% table service charge put on the food, it was a pub bar!! The bar staff placed food on table and cleared it away when finished .
- Manuela (8/5): -
- Angela (10/5): We recommend it - Very friendly staff lovely quiet location excellent facilities great food
- Ivan (10/5): -
- Mohamed (10/5): -
- Margaret (6/5): Convieneance. - Location Tired in need of refurbishment. Dark room due to light not working, obviously not just a bulb replacement but need of looking at by an electrician. Bath needed replacing, mastic around plug hole.
- Roger (8/5): -
- Marilyn (7/5): Comfortable enough room but disappointed with less cosy Bar area. - Staff were friendly and helpful and my room heater was very efficient during cold weather. The cold water tap in bathroom would not turn off properly so water was running constantly. I reported this following check in but it was not resolved during my overnight weekend stay.
Tv remote temperamental- difficulty turning on/off and selecting programmes.
- patricia (9/5): -
- Alex (2/5): Poor poor poor - Location Poor customer service. 2 major incidents during my stay and the staff were non existent. This has gone downhill considerably since the change in ownership. Very disappointed.
- Duesbury (8/5): Comfortable and very convenient for getting to our son's place. - The location and the facilities were perfect for me. I didn't have meals. The wet room was perfect for my husband but some parts of the floor were retaining water.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Very comfortable and convenient
- James (8/5): Good value , decent accommodation but poor heating - Good value;comfy bed and good shower Poor heating in middle winter
- Alan (7/5): Good accommodation - Just a normal pub with rooms available, no fuss no strings, Purfect for an overnight stay Food no longer available evening or breakfast
- Howard (7/5): Very good - Location
- John (7/5): OK for backpackers but not suitable for business travellers. - Breakfast is NOT available even if paid for separately. Had to find the Macdonalds 1.7 mile away! The evening meal I paid for was OK but only available in the very noisy bar area as there is no separate dining room.
- Helen M (8/5): Convenient, comfortable fitted our needs - family get together in the evening nearby - Clean - get key to building/ room so no hassle coming and going
- Michael (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): -
- Karen A (9/5): Convenient for what was needed - Local Old fashioned
- James (8/5): -
- Garry (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): One night stay - Comfortable bed, bathroom clean. Breakfast should have been included. Contradictory info online. Tried to call hotel from room about location and cost several times but no answer. We had to leave without breakfast eventually; had a poor but expensive Bfast in Waitrose in Twyford. Avoid. On
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Eddie (8/5): -
- Kirsty (9/5): - Excellent location for Nirvana spa. Friendly bar staff and great thai meal. Accommodation is a separate building, quiet. nothing.
- Mike (10/5): - Very comfortable bed N/A
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Victoria (7/5): - Clean and comfortable room, great hot shower and good easy parking. Walkable distance to town. No provision to book a breakfast, so we drove to a cafe in a garden centre in Forest Road, ten minutes away which was lovely.
- Kaz05 (8/5): - Lovely set up.
Comfy bed. Disappointed there was no breakfast and nowhere near to eat.
- Ivor (10/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): Clean, comfortable and located close to where we were attending a wedding. - Comfortable clean room for a brief one night stay as was attending a wedding nearby Nothing
- Nichola (9/5): -
- Mark (6/5): Disappointed to find out our room had been double booked and they had no clean rooms available. Dumped bags in a dirty r - Handy for Winnersh Dirty corroded sink waste.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent value! - Staff very friendly and efficient.
Rooms clean and comfortable. Lighting in room could've been better.
- Christopher (5/5): -
- Robyn (8/5): -
- Petrosyan (3/5): Wouldn't recommend - Breakfast not provided I stayed in a twin room. One of the beds had a broken base. TV not working, audio sound only no picture
- Sian (7/5): - We didn't have breakfast with our booking. We stayed for one night. It was basic, but clean, quiet, and straightforward. Good value for money. It wasn't very modern, but I didn't mind that at all. There was also parking in the car park round the back. The town is a good walk away, but a short drive. All very easy for us.
- James (10/5): - Stayed three nights here with my daughter whilst looking for a place to rent. Staff were friendly & helpful with local tips and advice. Wide variety on the menu, including Thai alongside more traditional pub staples. Plenty of parking, rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious.
- Amber (7/5): Basic but perfect for what we needed and value for money - Ideal location for nirvana spa, Thai food was absolutely incredible! Rooms were dated but clean and had everything you’d need.
- Stuart (9/5): Great stay - Bar staff were friendly . Food was spot on . Rooms were very tidy and everything you need are there .
Great price .
Would stay again if im in the area
- Steven (10/5): -
- vanessa (4/5): - Just comfortable N/A
- David (8/5): A useful one night stay - Only large cooked breakfast offered, which was very tasty, but would have preferred simple continental or cereal and toast
- Alison (10/5): - Very central staff very friendly we would stay there again .
- Julia (10/5): Great for visiting friends locally and walking distance to the town centre. - Despite being next door to the pub (which served great beer by friendly staff) it was very quiet. The room was on a par with Travelodege and Premiere Inn and very comfortable and secure. I can't think of any improvements that would be needed to make the stay better.
- Susan (10/5): Excellent overnight stay - Friendly welcome and the landlord helpfully booked our taxi for the evening. Good food available in pub but bit disappointed that there was no breakfast available for the morning. Lovely room , very quiet and not overlooked. Bathroom had nice toiletries and beautiful towels. Very handy for the taxi drive to the Gold Club where we were going for a party. Comfortable beds as well. Just perfect for our needs and we enjoyed our overnight stay. One light bulb by the bed didn't work and cold water tap dripped but both easily resolved by landlord. No breakfast unfortunately but drove to a garden centre, about 4 minutes, where we had a splendid breakfast.
- Nicola (10/5): Great location, comfortable accommodation and superb Thai food. - Clean, comfortable accommodation set separately from the inn. Thai food was amazing as was the friendliness of the staff.
- Nichola (8/5): -
- Emma (9/5): - Room was so comfortable and large and had everything we needed. Shower was lovely, and the area was very quiet so we slept very well. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food from the restaurant was delicious! We only had the Thai but would go back to try more off the menu if we're in the area again. Pub had a nice atmosphere inside, comfortable relaxed evening. It's a tiny tiny thing but the bathroom door for our room wasn't idiot proof enough, and we accidentally locked ourselves out of the bathroom, oops! Staff were super helpful in assisting us though and had it unlocked within 10 minutes, would have probably marred the stay somewhat though if we'd done it after hours.
- Jane (7/5): Good little stay for just one night if you are not bothered about breakfast facilities. - What breakfast? What breakfast? This is the only negative thing regarding our stay. It was a major disappointment. There was nowhere we could go early in the morning for a good breakfast unless we had to travel in the car. In fact we were not able to get a coffee as they did not open until noon. When I booked I am sure it stated breakfast included which is the norm.
- Richard (7/5): Value for money - Not taken Nothing
- Peters (8/5): - Ease of being allowed a fairly late check in. Having a bath as well as a shower. Bedside lamp not working. No glasses for drinking water that was supplied.
- Sam (8/5): -
- Michaela (10/5): Stayed there for a festival.it was comfortable and homely - Location. Quiet. Amenities Nothing.
- Paul (1/5): -
- Hill (9/5): - Good location
Cheap drinks The hair that was in my pad thai
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Roseanne (8/5): -
- Caron (7/5): -
- Angela (7/5): Value for money. Lots of potential. Comfortable and clean bedroom. - Friendly helpful staff. Bright cheerful and comfortable room. Good location and free parking I didn’t like to use the shower area. It needed a thorough clean with mould remover.
The other bathrooms could be fine - maybe just the disabled shower area in this particular room was unpleasant.
- Diana (8/5): -
- PHILIP (9/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Brian (10/5): - It was a pleasant Surprise, very convenient and relaxed stay. Staff were quietly efficient .
Pub food was excellent Nothing obvious
- Steven (10/5): -
- Lee (9/5): - Locality for Ascot races
- Melanie (8/5): Disappointment - The Room Was Spotless..Bathroom Spotless Very Clean..The Shower Was Fab 👌 Great Location For Us..For Where We Needed To Be in The Morning..Beautiful Flower's Everywhere..Pub Right Next Door..So We Had Drinks & A Nice Meal Abit Later After We Arrived.. The Bed in The Room Aweful Springs In Your Back When You Moved..Wasn't Comfortable At All..I Had To Wrap Myself in The Duvet And Sleep One Side Which Was Better Than The Side Of The Bed I Was Originally On..And Basically "No Breakfast in The Morning" Only Offered if Lot's Of People Want Breakfast In The Morning Lol
- Theresia (7/5): -
- Julio (9/5): - Very clean and spacious room. Easy to find and good parking. Very powerful and hot shower. Good value breakfast Bed was slightly too soft for my liking but it was comfortable.
- Emma (8/5): Comfortable stay and quiet location. - Close to Cantley house for a family wedding. Quiet location with a nice pub, good parking. Good shower pressure. The lighting could do with adjusting for individual lights. Currently the main, table and sidelights are either all on or all off.
- Efraim (10/5): -
- Marion (8/5): Good location and pleasant stay. - Good location to attend a funeral service. Staff very helpful. No breakfast facilities which was disappointing.
- Jason (10/5): - Great value for money hotel, great food friendly staff can't fault it will be staying there again Nothing not to like .
- Alison (8/5): Good value and simple accommodation - Easy to find
Good parking
Easy to check in and access room
Friendly staff
Excellent Thai food Some of the decor a bit quirky
- Dawn (9/5): -
- Sims (7/5): -
- Carolyn (7/5): - Beds comfortable Musty smell in the room but we were able to open the window
- Phil (7/5): It was perfectly acceptable & we would stay again. - Unfortunately breakfast wasn’t available - this was disappointing, and we only found out when we checked in. Personally I would prefer a walk in shower - I always find showers over the bath a bit slippy. Plus the controls on the shower unit were a little dated any difficult to get a balanced heat & pressure was a bit low.
