Guest Reviews
- Simon (9/5): A peaceful stay in the rainforest - Very peaceful location in the rainforest. Sense of privacy from other lodges was good and plenty of room to explore. The quiet was lovely - listening to the sounds of the forest. Nothing really to complain about.
- Gabriele (7/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): If you want a remote, peaceful tree top nature experience this will tick the box. - Tree house was very well designed -with excellent close covered parking, overlooking tree tops as you would expect. A nature lovers paradise, provided you are prepared to be remote.
Owner told us when Cassowary was close by, which was amazing experience to see in the wild. - thank-you very much. We were unlucky with the rainy & windy weather, which was such a shame as we were unable to fully enjoy this beautiful remote spot more fully.
Breakfast hamper a bit cheap & cheerful for what you paid to stay.
- janet (10/5): Incredible - The tree house is in a rain forest ! I thought the breakfast basket could have been better.
- Sandy (7/5): -
- Harald (10/5): Immer wieder schön. - Wir waren zum 2. mal hier, aber dieses mal leider keinen Platypus gesehen. alles okay.
- Vicky (10/5): So relaxing - Friendly staff
- Rebecca (8/5): -
- Brendan (8/5): Nice place but over priced - nice room overlooking rain forest, good kitchen facilities and equiptment Seemed very expensive for what was there
- achim (9/5): -
- Anthea (5/5): Nice - interesting things to visit near by. - Breakfast pack was good. House welcoming and comfy. Insect repellant other than personal insect repellant would be nice. It was very hot the first night - fans ok ... but we had to keep the house shut and blinds down. Would have been nice to have someone to walk with on the trails (husband has injury and couldn't walk the distance - and I was too chicken to walk in the bush on my own).
- Annwashere (10/5): -
- Lotta (9/5): Beautiful location in modern treehouses - Nice location by the forest Would have appreciated WiFi also in the house not only in the reception
- Martin (6/5): -
- Danny (7/5): -
- Albertine (9/5): -
- Jenna (10/5): Did love our stay but would probably request cabin awayfrom walking track and reception area so less disturbance and pri - Cleanliness, comfort and amenities. Was fortunate to see a cassowary. Loved listening to the birds. Walking tracks were great Stayed in studio. Walking track right next to driveway. People were shining torches into cabin on night walks. Didn’t feel as private as I thought

- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joel (10/5): Wonderful - How remote it was and still having great facilities Dehumidifier was loud
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (10/5): We checked in late on Friday and was greeted by the nicest person! The property was amazing - The property was secluded and central to so many nature parks We loved everything!!!!
- Robyn (10/5): Enjoyable - Breakfast was good. We only had one TV channel for the first 2 days and no Netflix. Not a game changer but a choice for something to watch at night. would have been nice.
The lighting in the kitchen was a little dull as was the lighting over the bar b q.
- Linda (10/5): - Such a beautiful treehouse in the bush with walking tracks to swimming holes. Saw a platypus.
- Brett (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): Relax, revive, refresh family Quilty Time - Will definitely be retuning was an amazing stay Nothing was great!
- Lucy (9/5): Perfect for some rest and relaxation. - Lovely location, forest sounds were delightful, nice walks around property and to creek. Tidy and comfortable little tree house. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.
- Jorien (10/5): Very relaxing in nature - Amazing location in the middle of the forest. Very immersed in nature.
The breakfast hamper was very nice.
The jacuzzi with view is wonderful. Nothing really!
- Nihan (10/5): - We love the tree house! It was so pretty and quiet.
- Angela (10/5): Lovely location - Loved the location, the comfortable beds and the cabins There was some dust but it’s in the middle of the rainforest and there is a fireplace. Would be great to have a stick vac like a Dyson in the cabin to give it a whizz around
- Duggan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denae (10/5): Fantastic serenity - Lovely breakfast provisions. Quiet surrounds. Plenty of info provided on fauna and hike/walks to tranquil locations if you are up for that. We stayed in ‘8- Boatbill’ - make sure you walk out the house back to the road to watch the sunset over the valley - (that was when we worked out that was what the logs at the road were for 😆) Absolutely stunning end to the day. Having to leave.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (7/5): Relaxing with Family whilst enjoying the time away from the city. - A fantastic breakfast hamper and cozy fireplace. Lack of mobile service was also great. We were staying near the road in & out of the property which had a lot of traffic noise. Also the overall cleanliness of the accommodation was a little disappointing. The photos online verses what where we stayed was different, no mountain views & a lot of overgrown pathways etc.
- Toni (8/5): We loved our stay and loved the coziness of the treehouse! - We loved being immersed in nature yet still close to Tablelands spots for day activities. Loved the spa bath, fireplace & outdoor deck especially. Leeches made walks on the actual property less appealing but we were able to get walks in nearby locations.
- David (9/5): Superb - Beautiful lodge in the forest The accommodation had recently had some garden maintenance to maintain the view. There was still a lot of cut weeds and branches visible from the property which made it look messy.
- Karley (10/5): bliss . will come back for sure. - such a beautiful property. loved all of it.
- Philip (10/5): Perfect - Reception was great warm welcome. Met the cassowaries that roam there at times. Very informative and friendly. Nothing to dislike.
- .evans (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Philippa (8/5): Very good -
- Chelsea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karin (10/5): Was a great getaway - So peaceful and quiet Dishwasher would have been nice but not essential
- Kathy (8/5): beautiful surroundings, gorgeous treehouse, intimate and perfect for 2 - Loved the treehouse. It was perfect for a romantic getaway. Would have loved if bubble bath had been supplied for the spa. Purchased from IGA in Atherton on our 2nd day.
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Digby (10/5): Memorable - Delicious assortment of breakfast items placed in our Self catering Studio Everything was perfect, and the view magnificent.
Fabulous birding opportunities in the area.
Amazing assistance with help looking for some specific elusive birds. All was perfect
- Wolfgang (10/5): Excellent wilderness retreat - Super nice treehouse, excellent view on the Dschungel and very friendly owners…
- Renee (9/5): Superb -
- Trudy (7/5): Good - Love treehouses been on my bucket list for years to do. Would have been nice to see each cabin and pick the one you like online. Overall an amazing experience in a very special place how tranquil it was. The shower being too small as a couples retreat $400 a night think needs to be tiled and bigger. Toilet got blocked these things happen but effected the experience
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - A wonderful, private getaway. Serene views, well equipped and large treehouse. Could have stayed longer but two nights allowed us to relax and do the short walking tracks. This was our second visit. The wildlife was a bit elusive this time but so good to be among tall trees and hear the birds. Just love it!
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful place, with some lovely walks. Excellent facilities. Great views from the balcony. Very peaceful and relaxing Nothing
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional - A gorgeous view. Unbelievable private space. Loved seeing and hearing all tge birds and night sounds. It was perfect!
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Sami (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anjuli (10/5): Exceptional - Secluded and private, beautiful scenery and the natural landscaping
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional - The two storey wooden house was delightful, had a beautiful outlook and had wood for the fire and some yummy supplies. Lots of hot water for the big bath that looked out to the rainforest. David was very helpful.
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location well set up property. Be aware there is poor internet/ phone service. ( Telstra reception only) But the place is so beautiful you don’t need it.
- Paul (10/5): loved it. only sadness was that we only booked two nights. - loved our cabin, overlooking regrowing rainforest. With pink Pom pom bushes of some sort hanging over the balcony. I loved just sitting watching various honeyeaters coming and going nothing really
- Rachel (9/5): Superb - Lovely views, felt totally private with peace and quiet. Generous breakfast hamper supplied.
- Glen (10/5): Absolutely fabulous stay - The accommodation feels like home, fittings are quality and well maintained Only the single toilet within the 3BR Tree house
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvia (8/5): a unique place to stay - fabulous location right in the rainforest. Good to be able to see wildlife including the Cassowary, platypus and lorikeets. Because of the remote setting it was hard to go out for evening meal.
- Lozzab (5/5): Way too expensive for the quality of stay. - Considering we paid $450.00 a night, a couple of pieces of bread and some eggs with butter and jam was a wee bit disappointing. The wood heater was unfortunately necessary as it rained the whole time we were there, BUT the smoke filled the cabin and stunk as the redgum provided would not catch hold enough without opening the door a fraction. Unfortuantely we had to use a pot holder from the kitchen to open the door as my husband burnt his hand on the unprotected handle and unfortunately the bed was so hard neither of us could sleep very well, so not terribly relaxing at all. NO phone reception was a worry being so far out, particulary with the host having in the brochures to call if we needed anything???? but not being able to get TV reception either with the weather being so bad made the night extremely boring. Had we been made aware of how isolated, we could have planned some board games to take with us or at least a good book.
- Davina (8/5): Very good - location was beautiful and the accommodation was lovely No ceiling fans or aircon - Saturday was extremely hot and the pedestal fans didn't do the job.
- Claire (10/5): The best of nature and no Easter camping crowds, was absolutely perfect for us not something we could afford every year - The feeling of isolation and the beauty of the surrounding area Nothing we didn’t like
- Melanie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (10/5): Very much enjoyed our stay and would definetely recommended to others wanting a great escape from the daily routines. Lo - The feeling of being away from it all and being surrounded in nature with birdsong heard throughout. Only thing I could mention would be when we went through the reforestation walk the grass was quite tall making it hard to spot snakes which we ended up spotting on the waterfall track after it was trimmed the next morning.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Nichola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): Girls weekend in the rainforest - A quiet location nestled in the rain forest close to a number of walking tracks. Good signage made the property easy to find. Comfortable and clean. Suggest putting a colander in the kitchen and a rubber mat in the shower as tiles slippery when wet.
- Vivienne (9/5): Superb -
- Gazmaggs (10/5): Birders take note. This one of the best places to stay on the tablelands. - This was a dream place to come with partner of family. It has up market cottages with rainforest views. It was all great but for it rained the entire time we were there. Still we were able to get in the car and drive to places it was not raining and had a great birding experience on Atherton Tablelands. We will book again. Just the rain.
- David (10/5): A tranquil setting. - The breakfast was plentiful and varied. The location was beautiful. A very peaceful place with lots of bird life and other wild life. The walking paths were good, but having the cassowary pole was useful for an older person.
- Natalie (9/5): Wonderful opportunity to get back to nature. - Wonderfull old school a frame cabins in a ultra private rainforest setting. Cooler climate so fire was appreciated. beautiful but challenging hikes - saw the cassowary! A bit of a drive into town - make sure you bring all your dinner and drinks! Lovely brekkie basket that lasted us the three days. Limited internet/tv. Brilliant sunset out the back on day of arrival. A little expensive.
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Far from the madding crowd - Wonderful place to retreat for a few days with beautiful walks on the property through tropical forest. If you like nature and seclusion this is the place for you. The rooms are well maintained, clean and comfortable with all the amenaties needed for self catering. There is however, no Wifi access in the room and telephone coverage is poor; so I would not recomend this for someone who needs to stay connected. Otherwise, no complaints and an enjoyable stay.
- Kelvin (8/5): - Peacefully quiet which made it relaxing
- Patricia (10/5): Amazing family stay! - We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa treehouse for 2 nights. The treehouse was amazingly clean and very well equipped. We loved the breakfast hamper that was provided. We made sure to bring enough food and drinks to cover our stay for lunch and dinner as we were quite a long way from restaurants. David was very helpful and full of knowledge about places to visit. We were very secluded and private even though there were a number of treehouses on the property. It was lovely to wake to the sounds of birds in the mornings. Even though there was no air conditioning the treehouse was cool and comfortable on very hot days, we all slept very well.
- Tierney (10/5): - Really beautiful views. Very private and secluded. We also enjoyed feeding the birds and musky-rat kangaroos at 8:30am. We stuck around a little longer and had a visit by a juvenile cassowary.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay for holidays. In the cabin we stayed the bush outside the balcony was so wildly overgrown that was hard to appreciate everything else. There was deadbush on top of overgrown weed. Everything else was exceptional
- David (8/5): Rose Gums - peaceful retreat - A beautiful spot and a very helpful owner/manager
- Kym (8/5): Beautiful tree change - The Manager David was excellent and very helpful. He made you feel welcome and had helpful info for the stay. We had 3 bedroom villa and it was perfect. Very spacious, clean and beautiful surrounds. It is very private and you cannot see any other villas. A great breakfast hamper was provided. Unfortunately we didn't get to do any hiking. Would recommend for those looking to escape. Great stay.
- Carmel (10/5): Stunning experience - Beautiful cabin overlooking rainforest. Clean and comfortable. Beautiful walks through rainforest. We saw a cassowary on the property and a tree kangaroo at nearby Nerada Tea Plantation where we had an excellent morning tea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful location for a cosy getaway! The cabin was so spacious and the view was gorgeous from the balcony and the bath inside the cabin. Being surrounded by the rainforest and listening to all the birds was incredible. Fireplace a bonus too for a cosy night in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic jungle setting, super relaxing.
Could use more comfortable seating on the decks, if you could lay back and relax you wouldn't leave the decks the surrounding jungle is that good
The elephant grass is starting to get out of hand but would recommend Rose Gums to everyone.
We'll be back and friends are already looking to go there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The host was friendly and informative and contacted me before arriving on how to check in, due to covid. The wifi was only available while standing or sitting outside of reception and not on the bird feeding side of the building. Given that several of the treehouses aren't close to reception it would make it a bit of a problem to get a connection. Wifi should be available at the treehouses. AC wouldn't go astray as it can be a bit uncomfortable to sleep at night. Yes there were a couple of fans, but at night with them on became to tad noisy. Overall it is a great place to unwind and relax.
- Darrin (8/5): - Beautiful private rainforest walks to a creek.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was so peaceful and beautiful. The perfect place to unwind and get away from everything. The natural beauty of the landscape is priceless
- Ian (10/5): wonderful place to stay - Beautiful relaxing stay in the forest, gorgeous natural timber modern cabin with view over the valley. Even though it was raining we still saw some wild life and the views of the rain and lightning added to the cosy feeling.
The in room facilities were great and the provided first day breakfast was very generous.
Thank you for a delightful experience.
- John (10/5): Delightful Rose Gums.... - We are so pleased we chose Rose Gums, what a delightful place, so peaceful and secluded. We were concerned that we might have difficulty finding our way as we arrived after dark but iPhone map directions took us right there without any problem. The tree houses are fabulous with every comfort provided. We didn't manage to empty the very generous breakfast welcome basket, even though we decided to extend our stay an extra night in preference to spending that time at the coast. Peta's very interesting morning talk on the parrots and Musky Rat Kangaroos that visit should not be missed. We also highly recommend the on site restaurant where we enjoyed two excellent dinners. There are many places to visit and wildlife to seek out in the surrounding area, the owners, Peta & Jon, are a mine of information and never tired of making suggestions and providing directions with lots of very useful maps!
- Julie (10/5): Tranquil rainforest paradise - Lovely, quiet and peaceful. The tree houses are a good distance away from each other with thick forest in between, guaranteeing privacy. Lots of good bushwalking trails - the creek trail can get a bit tricky and there are leeches near the water. The giant rose gums were awesome! Treehouses are nice with a beautiful spa overlooking the forest and valley. Only complaint is that our stay was too short.
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful stay at Rose Gums - We wanted two days in the Tablelands and Rose Gums is an ideal location. The accommodation is fantastic, being a tree house design with no others nearby. Our meal in the restaurant was excellent, chef Bradley is very good.
- Katherine (10/5): A peaceful retreat - If you're looking to get away from it all, I'd definitely recommend this place. From your tree house, all you can hear are the sounds of nature. We didn't even realise there were people staying in the house next door until we saw them at dinner. The restaurant is very good, though not cheap.
