Guest Reviews
- Kovatch (1/5): Worst stay and most sleepless nights I've ever had in 20 plus years working on the road - On first site the room was in terrible disrepair and there was food stains and food on the floor around the stove, fridge and table, there were no dishes in the room and the TV looked like it had been kicked around some, along with the cable box. The beds had lots of dark long and short black hairs between the sheets and the furnace had two settings- nuclear and off. I used the remote for the TV to scrape food from the counter top. I asked to have the floor mopped and on night two when it was still a mess and I asked why this stuff wasn't done I was given excuses that it was simply too much work to do it and then asked if I wanted it done. No hot water in the kitchen and the shower head was so calcified that there was almost 0 water flow. 10 outta 10 one of the worst places to stay.
- Donna (5/5): It was a place to sleep. - Nothing Floor was dirty. Took long time for heat to come one. Had to ask for a WiFi password. Bathroom was yuck. No safety in the shower tub. The tub was slick, and had to hold on, while trying to shower.
- Steve (1/5): Do not stay here! - Nothing The room was suppose to be non smoking, it wasn't. IT was obviously comtaminated with smoke. They just put up signs saying it was non smoking without cleaning the rooms. It was horrible, could not sleep and smelled disgusting.
- Leanne (5/5): - Good location and cheap price Room definitely had a moldy smell but was chean-ish
- Tanja (2/5): - unsafe; unclean. Bed had hair on it. Terrible condition. Did not check in. Was shown 2 rooms, both were not acceptable, dirty . Could not stay; went to a different hotel instead.
- Ondrej (8/5): -
- Miller (1/5): Sketchy and dirty - Nothing. Room was in a brown torn up building complex being main building. People out smoking pot all hours of the night. Water didn't work. Guests upstairs were building and moving furniture all night. Ac didn't work, lights kept flickering on and off. Bed sheets had dirt under the comforters. Horrid lighting at night and limited parking. Host was not pleasant. TV didn't work. Terrible experience, place should be shut down.
- Clyde (4/5): - This property did not look like the pictures that we initially saw on Expedia. Very rundown, dated, and several things not working. Several people live in this hotel full-time. But it was quiet, the sheets were clean, and it met our needs.
- michael (2/5): - The building is very old and in need of a number of repairs. I did not sleep in the room. I went to the Motel 6 down the road and got a room
- ShannonBryson (2/5): Run! So not stay here. - The pics are not up to date. Questionable people uanging around outside when i went to check in. Scared to park my truck and leave my stuff on top in the cargo bag. Looks like a Haven for Homeless people. Manager refused to cancel and refund. The thieves obviously need the money more than I do. Even a cop that I spoke to said he wouldn't ever stay there.
- Marisol (2/5): - The room was in a corner and it was unsafe. The bed sheets were old and had stains on them.
- Okundonor (9/5): -
- Bruno (2/5): - Ich konnte das Motel wegen Wildfire nicht erreichen aber in anderen Jahren war ich zufrieden
- Deanne (10/5): - Clean, comfortable nice staff
- Barry (6/5): - Ok
- shera (6/5): - This is old motel but good c
- Gwen (3/5): Wouldn’t go again - Location. Right off the main road Old outdated which is ok but. The bathroom was nasty, old food in the fridge, two box springs and a thin mattress. If I hadn’t had a non refundable rate I would have gone somewhere else. It served its purpose but not a pleasant one.
- YAISELIS (4/5): - No clean only have towel there was a bad smell
- Terence (1/5): Bad - Comfortable beds. Although the room was quite large, it was old, shabby, dark & poorly lit
One kitchen chair was stained.and unusable
Stove was old, in poor condition & difficult to use
Microwave could not be used while other appliances were being used.
Bedroom cramped
Hot water took a long time to come on and was then only luke warm.
Bathroom basin was rusted.
We arrived just before 3pm check in. At 3:10pm, the office was still unattended, so we rang the bell by the door but nobody responded, so we went for a walk around town and came back around 30 minutes later. The office was still unattended, so we rang the bell again twice before someone came to open up.
In summary, we would not recommend staying there as the description online does not match the property's quality, which is quite poor.
- Ben (1/5): Bad -
- Melinna (8/5): Great modest overnight pit stop. - Our group needed 2 rooms. They put us in side by side rooms each with kitchen areas. Spacious. Very dated but clean!
A maintenance worker noticed we had trouble with the key and came to help immediately. Less than $100 each room. Quick friendly respectful check in. Easy hands off check out.
- Patricia A (2/5): - Unit was run down. Unit smelled of cigarette smoke. Lighting poor. Heating wasn’t working so had a couple small electric fans that were noisy. Extremely noisey unit up stairs due to no sound proofing. Garbage in parking area and ice not cleared in front of unit.
- Dustin (10/5): - Comfortable and clean nice staff
- Sarah (8/5): - All good
- Nicole (1/5): We booked our room and when we got there and noticed us our door bell ring - We knocked for like 20 mins and rang the doorbell and nobody answered so we had to go look for another place to stay We we’ll never go back to this place never shitty service
- Ripka (1/5): The room was disgusting. It smelt heavily like cigarettes. The floor was dirty, there was hair in the sink, nothing in t - Stayed here three years ago, and it was a cheaper accommodation while traveling to Alaska. It was worth the money 3 years ago. Fast forward to yesterday, the room was disgusting. It smelt heavily like cigarettes. The floor was dirty, there was hair in the sink, nothing in this room felt clean. It felt hard to breathe. It was also 82 degrees in the room with no ability to lower the thermostat. There was a window AC, but it didn’t cool down the room below 80 degrees in the hour we were there. Traveling with my infant son, we were put in a “non-smoking room” which we didn’t feel safe in. We vacated to a nearby hotel and had to shower right away because the short time we were in this hotel we smelt like we rolled in an ashtray. Not worth the money.
- Randy (8/5): Very good - Inexpensive place to stay and a place to plug the car block heater in along the Alaska highway.
- robertoR3763IH (2/5): stay away from this motel and pay a bit more for a much better place that is cleaner and has wifi that works - this is not a good place too stay because it is not properly cleaned the bathtub was filthy as the rest of the motel room was the wifi doesnt work any good because it does not work most of the time. i would recamend paying about 20 dollars more at another motel in town that is a lot cleaner and has wifi that works all the time
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Greg (5/5): Passable - I liked that my bike didn't get stolen like I thought it would Didn't feel safe leaving my bike outside. Was up half the night checking it was still there.
- Robyn (5/5): Overnight in Fort Nelson - When we arrived we were told we did not have rooms due to plumbing issue ???
Mgr rang around to find somewhere for us - thankyou.
We still only paid price of our original booking as the mgr paid the difference in $.
Very kind of him xx
- Shawne (7/5): It wasn’t expensive and the beds were comfortable. Good to get a rest and be on my way - Cost Smell from the bathroom
- Philip (10/5): No longer look for other hotels in Fort Nelson - Great staff and location, cheap prices, secure parking. Never had a bad stay.
- Morgan (8/5): Cheap and quiet - Staff was far more responsive than at the pricier hotels in town. I got a free bump up to a kitchenette room. The place was clean, warm, and quiet. Old and shabby, but not dirty or dangerous. Very familiar to anybody who has stayed in budget accomodations in the north.
- Guilhem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manju (7/5): Good -
- Goodenough (7/5): Good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good - It was an ok stay for the price.
- Scott (3/5): Convenient, good price, pleasant staff, lack of towels/soap/in-room coffee, bathroom needs cleaning - Spacious room, old but comfortable furniture, wifi/tv worked great. Great price. I arrived late and went out for dinner. I noticed there were no bath towels, no hand soap and the bathtub had a line of black mold along it. They only provided a bath mat and 2 hand towels. The coffee maker was just used to heat hot water, there were no filters or a pouch of coffee, just a packet of powder to put into the hot water. I may have been able to ask the desk man for towels and soap but it was late and I just went right to bed after dinner, He was helpful when I checked in. However I don't think I should have to do that, they should be provided automatically by the hotel. Fortunately I did not need to use use the shower or bath. Other than that the hotel is old but clean and well appointed for the most part, with the exception of the bathtub.
- Thedrakes (7/5): Good - Comfy bed. Good AC. Too much light coming through curtains and windows.
- Lexie (1/5): Bad -
- Allanna (4/5): Disappointing - Whenever passing thru - we stay at the Shannon - it's a great, older motel - always clean and well attended. Horrid smell in my room #106 just awful - never have had this experience before.
- Anonymous (2/5): Slept light and just wanted sun rise to come so we could get on the road again. - The nice guy at the front desk. He was very nice and said if we needed anything to just call him whenever. The location was kind of scary and right next to a busy highway. The room reeked of smoke, even the sheets smelled like smoke. Woke up and my hair and cloths smelled like smoke. I will say it very well could have been the wildfire smoke but I'm not sure. Noisy, people where going in and out and driving around until 2:30am. The shower was broken and ran constantly and had mold in it.
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Debra (6/5): It met my needs for a good price. - More than just a bed. Looked dingy outside.
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- Nicolás (8/5): Very good -
- Y1956SJisabela (2/5): Absolutely awful. Don’t stay here. - We’ve stayed in several motels on our trip and understand that they’re basic, but this place had so many things wrong, mostly how dirty it was.
We paid extra for the kitchenette so that we could cook our evening meal. Every single utensil, pot, pan and cutlery was filthy. I had to wash all the things we wanted to use first and in fact we didn’t dare use the cutlery, we got our camping cutlery out instead. All the knives and forks were dirty and they all laid in a drawer that was full of bits of old food.
There was no plug for the kitchen sink and no bowl so I’m not sure how they expected you to wash up. We did call the number supplied within the room for any problems and left a message but nobody bothered to return the call or bring a plug.
The bedroom was filthy with clumps of hair blowing out from under the bed and unbelievably, blood down the back of one mattress on the wall. The bedding was inside out and not put on properly.
The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, with yet more blood on the shower head handle and a dirty toilet.
The curtains didn’t fit the windows and the air con was pretty inefficient.
Anything good? The towels were clean. I think that’s the only thing that had been done.
We complained to booking.com as we had booked through them but they weren’t interested. There was nobody around at the property to complain to after we’d checked in.
Just don’t bother staying here. Anywhere else in town has to be better. It seriously couldn’t be any worse.
Absolutely awful and a health and hygiene hazard.
- Life (3/5): Cheap but very poorly maintained - disappointing for Canada. - Wifi is good. Bed is comfortable. Shower is good - lots of hot water. Facilities provided are OK and as expected but the cleanliness is extremely poor. Cleanlinees is very poor. Dried blood on the headboard. Tufts of hair wafting out from under the bed. Accumulated dust under the chair (moved for better access to plug socket). Splashed food on the wall. Cooker ring foil underguards are caked with previous spilt food and provides unpleasant smells when using the ring. Drawer linings are dirty so any clean items placed in couldn't be trusted. No plug for the sink - used a poor fitting plug from the bath. Curtain rails don't move properly and curtains in the bedroom are too small for the window. Putting soiled paper in an open bin rather than down the loo is something I expect from Central and South America, not Canada! We paid extra for the kitchenette but ended up using most of our own camping equipment in preference.
- Bluegoblin (3/5): Hope for a more customer centric approach - Had to pay even if I asked cancellation 1 day earlier
- Mary (8/5): Very comfortable, good value. - Good internet. Spacious room with couch and coffee table, good t.v.. A window that opens! New laminate flooring. Bathroom walls newly wood-paneled, bathtub newly tiled. Quiet bathroom fan (no jet engine roar). Park right in front of room. Door opens with old-fashioned key (haven't seen one of those in years!) All in all, very comfortable, especially for the price. No breakfast. Coffee maker, but no coffee. Office was always locked; the guy at the desk was only available if you called him on your phone.
- James (7/5): Overall very good. - Lots of room and clean. Location right in highway was a little noisy. Very convenient to eating and shopping. A little noisy due to closeness to busy road.
- miklos220 (2/5): Poor choice - The hotel is right on the main road, the owner was courteous and helpful, and cheery. He was a great ambassador for the community. The price was very cheap by any comparison.
Sadly it ends there. Sleeping in your car is definitely an upgrade. The place belongs to a bygone era. Old, smelly, worn out, generally speaking this place should have been torn down and rebuilt. The owner is obviously milking it before demolition. There are lots of other hotels to choose from in Fort Nelson BC.
- James (1/5): Bad - The wifi was better than I expected. The internet at a hotel down the street was much worse. This place looks like a location to hide from the authorities. It is extremely run down and has kind of a third world vibe The floor in the room had soft spots, and the toilet was canted at an angle. There was a sign in the bathroom to put used toilet paper in the waste basket, as putting it in the toilet would cause problems with the septic/sewer. The only time I have seen something similar was in the Middle East. There weren't any pillowcases on the pillows, and the sheets looked questionable. I'm not sure how this motel has a three-star rating, as one star would be more accurate.
- Deborah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicola (7/5): Good -
- Marian (9/5): Superb - It was cheap and clean. The guys were nice. Neighbors stayed quiet as rules politely asked. Thanks! I couldn't get the AirCon to start. Not sure if it was the outlet or the AirCon though.
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kokknen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shashi (8/5): Very good - The location and the staff were excellent. The facilities can be improved.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stéphanie (1/5): review - the staff It was really not clean. I do not recommend this motel. It is worth paying more to get a descent room.
- Katie (9/5): Superb -
- Ronda🌹 (7/5): Place to rest your head and fix a meal for a night. - I was happy the staff upgraded us to a room where we had a full kitchen and refrigerator. We were able to cook our meals. Being on motorcycles were able to get ice and chill our food. The rooms were quite and dark for sleeping. The entire place really needs an upgrade. The entrance to the rooms is in need of repairs. It’s a well used hotel.
- Jayabrata (7/5): Good - Value for money. Should not expect more at this price. So, it is good.
- Dena (7/5): Quick stopover - Power was out in town so I didn’t use anything but the bed and toilet.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Great location to manage pet needs The toilet was very tricky, put looks like the motel is being fixed up, so im sure they will get to it.
- Ken (7/5): Perfect for a one night stop - I really appreciated that they let us check in after 11.00pm and waited for us.
The room is spacious and affordable. Great for one night It is a bit old and probably needs some attention
- Amelie (5/5): Passable -
- Reanna (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mike (7/5): Great Location to catch the BCBus - Location was great for us being across the street from the Rec Center where you can catch the BCBus - only a couple of minutes walk. The bed could have been more comfortable and a hairdryer would have been nice.
- Steven (9/5): Great position and good value for money . - Owner very friendly and helpful with my problems of losing my wallet with credit cards etc.Comfortable accommodation with very reasonable rates my Nothing.
- Isaia (6/5): You get what you pay for. - Verry cheap so can’t complain too much. Pet friendly. warm heater. The bed had cigarette holes in it and was just overall uncomfortable. the bathroom had dead spiders and hair in the shower.
- Edwin (7/5): Good -
- Michel (5/5): Cannot complain that much since I paid 60$ for a night. - very cheap, convenient. Has sofa, parking, tv, coffee machine. It’s close to everything. Dirty toilet bowl, coffee machine still had used filter, very odd to open a cabinet and see the water heater in. Decor is meh.
- David (10/5): - New Owner was onsite and handled the check-in. Seems to be putting a lot of effort into continually renovating the business. I was passing through to Alaska in January, and this was an easy place to get some quick sleep. I plan to drive through again in February or March, and plan to stay here again.
- Karinsita (8/5): Very good -
- Otelina (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (6/5): Pleasant -
- Keerschx86 (5/5): Passable -
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional - Had a really nice stay. The staff was helpful and friendly, rooms were very clean and well maintained, location was perfect. Would stay again for sure. Thanks!
- Crystal (5/5): Passable -
- Cath (5/5): Passable -
- Michelle (9/5): I was surprised that we had a small apartment! - The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice to have a kitchenette. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had to figure out the heating.
- Raymond (8/5): Great value! - Old but large room. Comfortable. TV connection either didn’t work or I’m not smart enough to operate it. Would stay again…great value.
- Sparsh (9/5): Superb -
- Harry (8/5): Very good - Very clean and quiet. The owner/staff were helpful and friendly. Good stop up the Alaska highway and back. Definitely would recommend. None.
- David (7/5): Good - Friendly staff at the site
- Akvile (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elaine (6/5): Some good points and some not so good - This was a place of contrasts. The rooms, separate bedroom and living quarters, were large, with vinyl plank flooring, which I love. There was a full-size fridge and a microwave. On the down side, there was a stove, but the oven didn't work. The only window in the living area was really dirty. The owners(?) sat outside for several hours and I kept wondering why they weren't washing windows!! There wasn't a hair dryer, ice machine or hot water. I ran the water for a bit, but decided not to have a shower because the water didn't get hot and I didn't want to waste any more than I already had. When we went to bed, it was so noisy in one of the rooms beside us. It sounded like there was remodelling going on and it kept on for the longest time.
On the whole, the price was great but I'd certainly be willing to pay more for hot water and a hair dryer.
- Williams (5/5): Passable -
- Brendan (7/5): Good - very nice employees
- Teresa (8/5): Pretty decent but not perfect - We liked that the bedroom was separate from the tv room. And we had a love seat. Not enough hot water for 2 people to shower. Our oven didn’t work and we didn’t have a kettle.
- John (8/5): Stayed for a couple of nights and all good, - Stopped for two nights here as part of a motorcycle trip from Alaska south to the US. The motel was convenient and for the price, good value. The owner/manager could not have been more helpful and it was a good place to just restock and chill for a day or so. All good for price.
- Ratnasabapathy (8/5): Was very comfortable. - Space. Cooking facility. Friendly staff Bit dated furniture.
- Jacqueline (8/5): good vakue good service - Booking.com nothing
- Edith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (1/5): would never ever recommend or stay there again - absolutely NOTHING! it was a run down DUMP!!!!
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
