Guest Reviews
- James (10/5): Great traditional house in central location - The location was great, in old town Kyoto. Near plenty of shops, restaurants and a main shopping strip. Easy walk to the Gion. Safe neighbourhood with easy access to most of downtown Kyoto. We even walked to TeamLabs!

- İnanç A. (10/5): Mixed thoughts - Location was good. Place was clean. There is an AC unit in every room.
There is a v60 coffee dripper and a coffee which was a surprise. Kitchen is small but enough.
Bathroom was surprisingly large and comfortable. There wasn't a dish draining rack. Had to leave dirty dishes in the sink.
Ceiling was too low. Had to bend my neck all the time.
I forgot that check-in office is near the kyoto station. It takes around 30 minutes by walking. It was a little inconvenient especially with 2 big luggages. I wish they do online check-in.
Personally I wouldn't pay that much again. Not because of the house or the host but the experience wasn't for me

- Monika (10/5): Japanese traditional home like in fairytale - It was our first time in Kyoto, and we had the pleasure of staying in such a traditional Japanese home. Firstly, the location was great — 7-Eleven is just about 50 steps away, and the main street is around an 8-minute walk.
The house is beautiful and traditional, while at the same time having everything you need — even an auto-lock on the main door. The garden felt like something out of a fairytale.
The staff were wonderful. Thanks a lot! -
- Dana (10/5): - Beautiful machiya, and the fluffiest doona ever! Great bath, super hot water.
- Ruby (10/5): Excellent. A must book - Clean, comfortable, well appointed. Great location and just overall wonderful Nothing. Was wonderful
- Michelle (10/5): Great House - Loved everything about this house. Great location, only about a 8 minute walk to Nishiki Market. House is extremely comfortable & offers a small kitchen. The private bath is great. The rooms are quite large & fit the family of 5 perfectly. The only thing was when you first walk in, it's quite chilly. We stayed in Dec so the entryway is chilly, but the bedrooms with the heaters will warm you right up.

- kilian (10/5): Absolut begeistert.
- Gethin (10/5): Lovely traditional house close to the main streets - A traditional house with all the modern amenities, fab location 15 mins from all the action. Still able to hear the street noises, if you stay in the front room you may be disturbed. We stayed in the back and it wasn’t too bad, it didn’t keep us up.
- Rhianan (10/5): Great location - Really lovely stay, great location and cool Machiya to base ourselves for adventures around kyoto.
- JAMIE (9/5): Lovely traditional house in a good location - A lovely little traditional style house, on a quiet street that is only a few minutes walk from central Kyoto. The rooms were quite small (so one of us slept on a futon in the dining room) but it was plenty big enough for what we needed. One of our favourite places we stayed on this trip.

- Maria (10/5): Eccezionale - Tutto Nulla
- Richard (9/5): Excellent, good value, characterful accommodation in an ideal location. - Very handy location for sights, restaurants and shopping. 7Eleven about 20 metres from the door.
Cute but well appointed traditional house that enhanced the Japanese experience. No kitchen bench space made basic food prep a bit of a challenge, but only minor. Watch your head on the doorways😁
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Annettebaz (7/5): Great location and helpful staff. - Location was great. We walked everywhere! It was 2 of us, so we enjoyed have some space. We each had our own room, and the sitting area with table. We didn't really use the kitchen, it was more the fridge and kettle. We did use the wash machine provided and loved that they had left soap for us. They did have shampoo and body wash, all linens provided Note there are steep stairs - which was fine for us, as we had light luggage and okay on stairs. It was pretty basic, and could use a deep clean. The table in the sitting area needs to be stabilized, it felt like it was going to fall apart. Most places i've stayed at in Japan have more facial products, masks...etc just a thought to take it the next level.
- Maksim (10/5): Great Japanese experience - Where authentic experience. I liked that it had all the necessary equipment, including good washer machine with dryer
- Daniel (10/5): exceptionally charming house with nice feel in a great area -
- Eser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacinta (10/5): Overall experience was excellent - It was clean
We didn’t have to do dishes
Great location near many restaurants and shopping area both luxury brands and affordable
Near Tokyo station both by bus and taxi
Spacious great for 4 people
The Japanese style with the garden made it feel so calm and zen
- Delima (9/5): Comfortable and cozy - The most I love about about the property is very convenient and very close to 7 eleven. Less than 1minute and 5minutes walk towards to the fresco grocery area.
And fully equipped kitchen.
- Aishwarya (9/5): Beautiful Traditional Mini Ryokan on a budget - We could experience a beautiful traditional mini ryokan at great value for money. Very close to Nishiki market and walkable to Gion district by 20mins. We thought the AC in the bedroom didn’t work so well, so do check with the staff beforehand. They were super helpful with everything else, including late check in requirements otherwise! If you’re a bigger person, maybe more than a 2-3 days stay in this place would be a little difficult for you to climb up and down the stairs.
- Paul (10/5): Traditional house, close to everything you need! - The stay was simple. The location of the property was central and close to great areas. The house was comfortable and authentic. Being very picky, the toilet and bathroom could of been separate with a family.
- Stefanie (10/5): - Special experience in a traditional-style machiya house. Loved the bath and staying on the Japanese style bed (you can ask the staff to set up the western or Japanese style bed before you check in). It was a beautiful and peaceful retreat. The laundry both washes and dries—such a convenience!
- David (10/5): Great location! Loved staying in a traditional style Japanese house. - Location was great, and the house was very clean. We were in downtown Kyoto, but close enough to Gion, Nishiki Market, and many restaurants. There were several supermarkets & convenience stores in the neighborhood, too. The subway was also just a short walk away. It was the perfect place to stay with with my wife - having the whole house to ourselves let us relax more than a normal hotel. Appreciated the washing machine (we did several washes during our stay) and bathroom amenities. Wish we stayed longer!
- Xiaodi (9/5): The price and the location is a good bargain. We wished there was a chair in the house though. - Location, cleaniness, good neighborhood, scent of the room we wish there was a chair in the house
- Haohao (2/5): Not value for money - Quiet Small, lack of amenities, place full of mosquitoes
- Hannah (9/5): beautiful house - The house is a beautiful traditional Japanese town house and everything is amazingly designed. The location we found to be perfect and only a few minutes walk from the Main Street of Kyoto for shopping and restaurants. The Ginza district also not too much further from here. We encountered a couple of small issues which were very quickly rectified by the staff after messaging them. The beds were very comfy and clean sheets and the kitchen had utensils for making coffee and cooking too. Also lots of fresh towels and toilet rolls provided. I would only mention a couple of things - one being that the shower and bath room smelt a little musty. The second only a small thing but there is no full length mirror which I found to be a little annoying! Other than that it was a perfect stay!
- Marine (8/5): Very good -
- Sammie (8/5): Great way to experience Kyoto Style - Great Season to travel Kyoto
