- James (8/5): Good location, otherwise only okay. - Pleasant front desk, good location. Hotel restaurant closed early because the computer system was down. Apparently the staff never heard of paper & pencil, talking to the chef and taking cash ( which we offered).
- Sarah (8/5): - Wonderfully designed and furnished rooms, with a modern but cozy feel. Everything went smoothly and we were very comfortable. The only hiccup was about a 20-minute span late at night, when we heard repeated shuffling, light bumps on the wall, etc. next door. It turned out that we were next to a storage room where an employee had been assembling a portable crib. I’d recommend that the hotel place guests away from this sort room as much as possible.

The reception staff are friendly thank you to Maria Jessica and Kameron who were delightful to check in the end on the four occasions that I checked in over 2 1/2 weeks. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere. They work very hard to keep it clean. It is now the place for me to stay in Anchorage. I would not stay anywhere else. Well done to everybody at the wild Birch - please keep it up. I stayed in a few hotels in Alaska and frankly their idea of cleanliness is shocking this Hotel was wonderfully clean completely spotlessly clean so thank you. I enjoyed my stay with you. Nothing

I have stayed here on four occasions in the last three weeks -and for those of you that read all of my prolific reviews from around the world , know that I am very fussy, but very honest . This Hotel is the best, the staff are amazing - particular shout out to Maria, Jessica and Cameron on the front desk - thank you very much - they have been marvellous checking me in on the Last four visits , they are a huge asset to this Hotel and its charm, some of the best I have experienced on a front desk , which is the Window for any Hotel and create the first impression- so thank you to all three . Hotel is spotlessly clean - well done to the cleaners - thank you to the doorman who recognises me as I walked in and gives me the most wonderful welcome and to Nikel in the restaurant - a brilliant waitress, so polite and professional. I have stayed at various hotels in Anchorage, but I will not be staying at them in future. This is definitely my place to go and I have advised all of my associates and colleagues and friends to do the same- well done for the wildbirch well done. I hope this helps fellow visitors to Anchorage . -:))

- Arleta (9/5): comfortable staying in the city centre - The hotel was very comfortable, located in the city center. We felt safe and comfortable there. All the staff, from the receptionists and security to the cleaners, electrician, and waiters, were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and cozy. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel restaurant is also highly recommended. The hotel also has parking. We had to be careful when using the kettle, as it could blow the fuse. We were instructed by an electrician and used a special socket. The windows faced the street, and sometimes there was noise from outside.

I ordered Lasagna to go, from the bar/restaurant. Lexy, who was working was really wonderful!! We had wonderful conversation as she told me more about the area. She recommended the Lasagna, and it was delicious! Truly a warm, inviting staff and very clean and comfortable hotel! I can't wait to return!

- BrightonAK (6/5): Very mixed bag - I loved the design aesthetic (except the cork board behind the television-- what?!), but the lack of anywhere to put stuff in the room would have made staying here for more than 2 nights pretty inconvenient. Be aware you could get a substantial work out if your room is in the 70s-90s which are waaaaaay down at the end of one really long hallway on each floor (seriously could be difficult for mobility aid users). The dining room is very chic and tasty from our limited sample. Having an in-hotel cafe was also nice. Front desk staff was always super helpful and courteous. Now for the big negative, I have to rate my room very poorly for cleanliness. I got to check in early so I didn't complain when there was no toilet paper, but then also discovered a huge wad of hair in the shower and popcorn all over the floor from prior guests. Didn't complain because I figured it would be cleaned the next day- nope. Yuck. Were my sheets even clean? Also reported a broken alarm clock that always read 4:35am; was not replaced or fixed during my stay. The cost, layout, lack of cleanliness, and location of the property (10+ minute walk from the convention center on the end of downtown they tell you not to go to; our room view was of a really run down building next door) mean I probably won't revisit this particular Hyatt.

My Room was great and the bar washroom always smelled very clean and was very tidy always. The restaurant menu is exceptional and I had no complaints at all with my stay here. The location is grand central too. Great for the tour group pick ups.. Thank you for the wonderful stay:-))) Nothing really to complain about.. Everything was great even the weather.

- bobbied838 (10/5): The best hotel in Anchorage!! - This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Anchorage. It is so convenient to shops and restaurants. It's within walking distance to museums. It is just up the hill from the Alaska Railroad terminal. I stayed there for the Iditarod. It is the official hotel for the Iditarod. It was very cozy and safe. I will stay here again when I am lucky enough to visit Alaska again. I hope it is very soon.

Great little store (Canteen) and restaurant (Crimson) with great food options. Perfect location downtown and within walking distance of a number of truly amazing restaurants. I very much look forward to staying at the Wildbirch in the future for both business and pleasure.

- Mareska (9/5): - Hassle free stay, the staff were efficient and helpful, nice room, well located within the downtown, as solo female traveller I recommend this hotel as it is within walking distance to resto/cafe/pub and to the Anchorage Museum. Another advantage this hotel has coffee shop and I loved their brownies for my everyday hot latte while in Anchorage. And when you feel don’t want to go out, their in-house resto also nice (served good beer and delicious seafood chowder).

- michaelmJ4539OW (8/5): 5* hotel, 4* neighborhood - Overall, the hotel is a nice facility. Some of the rooms are located quite far from the main lobby. The breakfast was good, although a bit pricey. The area around the hotel was not particularly vibrant. There were a fair amount of souvenir shops, but not necessarily a lot of restaurants to choose from. It was nice to be near the start of the Iditarod. I would advise going to the nearby log cabin tourist center to get a self guided walking tour.
- onwardhoff (10/5): Perfect Spot - We came to Anchorage to see Fur Rondy. Little did we know that the Wildbirch Hotel would be the perfect place. When I made the reservations I looked for a hotel downtown near restaurants etc. The Wildbirch met those requirements, had great reviews and a special, so I booked. Before we left home, I found out that the hotel was very close to the things we wanted to see at the Fur Rondy. When we arrived, we found that 2 of the things, the ceremonial Iditarod trail sled dog race, and the running of the reindeer were right out front. Then we found the carnival and snow carving all within walking distance. What luck! The hotel staff was superb! Rooms were warm and clean. It had been recently updated so everything looked great. The drinks and food at the restaurant in the hotel were yummy. We had a wondrous time.
- Rosanne (5/5): Would not recommend this hotel. - Location of the hotel was very good And decor in lobby and inside of rooms was very nice Hallways were very dated and worn and room was not what we had ordered and paid for- “port side”. Staff was efficient but not friendly or very helpful at checkin or with questions during our stay.
- Rossana (10/5): Nice, Great breakfast - We stayed here from March 18th to 20th in Anchorage, and overall our stay was pleasant, with a few mixed moments. The welcome at reception wasn’t the best, as the staff member didn’t feel particularly welcoming. He explained how to reach our room using a map, which was helpful because the hotel is very large and quite complex, with multiple levels, wings, and elevators. Once in the room, we started unpacking but soon realized that the heating was not working. We contacted assistance, and they confirmed the issue. Since the room was very cold, we had to pack again and were moved to another room, which was smaller but functional and warm. In general, the rooms are nice and practical, although the walls are quite thin. Despite this, the overall stay turned out to be comfortable. What really stood out in a positive way was the breakfast. We had breakfast there both mornings, and it definitely lifted our experience. The food was excellent — we had avocado toast and salmon, both very fresh and delicious. The waitress was also very kind and friendly. The location is another strong point: the hotel is right in the city center, close to everything, including souvenir shops and the train station, which makes it very convenient. Overall, despite the initial inconveniences, we had a pleasant stay. With a bit more attention to the welcome and room maintenance, the experience could be even better.

- patrickdawnf (10/5): Anchorage’s Best-Kept Secret! - This is great hotel! Sleek, modern and still super cozy. The elegance is noticeable as soon as you walk into the lobby. The design is well thought out, and I truly get a sense of place even though the taxidermy (which is so typical here) is missing. (LOL) The rooms are simply adorable, great parking lot and the Restaurant and Bar Crimson are absolutely first class!!!!

- jonc221 (8/5): Good first impressions, coulda, woulda been better - First time here, and rooms are very nicely decorated - modern, nice complementary colors. Bed was really comfy, and linens are NOT wrinkled - says a lot. Compared to other name brand hotels in the vicinity, - that puts them to shame. Found the pillows a tad high though. Long line at breakfast - waited 25 min for a seat, and over 35 min for the order. In the end, had to leave without breakfast, as it was time to catch the shuttle to the airport. Am sure it could be better, and apparently, they were overwhelmed this morning.

- powersinlv (10/5): Charming hotel with warmth - I had never heard of the Wildbirch Hotel before I checked in. I was booked by a tour company and I was pleasantly surprised. The warmth of the hotel and the staff were great. The beds were perfect for me with the best throw blankets. I loved the choice of pillows on my bed so i could pick soft to firm. The coffee shop and restaurant on site made the stay even better. We traveling back to Anchorage I will definitely be staying here again.

The hallways were in good condition even with the renovation ongoing on the first floor. Unique artistic touches compliment the atmosphere and create an inviting environment.

- judyp905 (8/5): Good Place to Stay - The downtown location was good - could walk to most places. Quite a few homeless people downtown. Although there was no airport shuttle nor would they take you to the train station that was about 1 mile from the hotel. The front desk staff was awesome! Very pleasant and accommodating. We ate breakfast there one morning and the food was good and priced a little lower than the surrounding restaurants. The room was comfortable. The layout of the hotel is very strange. Very long hallways. We were on the third floor - took the elevator to it but still had to go down stairs with luggage to our room - STRANGE! The gym was good, but we had to be guided there to find it. All in all - good place to stay.

- harrisonking66 (10/5): Really enjoyed my stay - This hotel is outstanding. The restaurant is maybe the best hotel restaurant I’ve ever had at Hyatt - get the reindeer hash (I know it sounds odd. It is soooo good). The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious. I really enjoyed my stay here. The floor ceiling is very low on the second floor - I’m 5’11” and felt like i may have been too tall for that floor if I was a few inches taller. I got a room on the top floor (3) and it was fantastic. An awesome place to stay in downtown Anchorage. Definitely walk to the burger place right down the street - it is also to die for.

King room was spacious and all new. There is a restaurant and fitness center. For EV drivers there are 2 free chargers (J-1772) in the parking lot.
- williampH1308AA (2/5): overall the worst experience I've had at a hotel in a long time - I would not recommend this hotel. the layout is terrible. there's no signage on how to get to certain rooms or that in the elevator that the lobby is on the second floor. not a lot of water pressure they have two showerheads and there's no water pressure for one let alone two. the second night there was a tapping noise in the room that they couldn't figure out, and I had to change room rooms in the middle of the night, even though I had to get up early the next day. no water in the rooms even though they have nice coffee machine with coffee pods. you can't charge to the room from the guest shop. also the person checking in was not friendly, was wondering why she would want the job she was in because she absolutely hated it.
- megansE1072BJ (10/5): It's the only place in Anchorage I will stay!!! - This was my 3rd or 4th time staying at The Wildbirch Hotel in Anchorage, and I ended up joining World of Hyatt just so I can earn points for staying here because it is so lovely that it has ruined me for other stays in Anchorage! I have struggled for years to find a hotel I actually enjoy staying at in Anchorage, but I absolutely love this hotel. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, the rooms are immaculate, I have never had trouble sleeping here, and it's easy to get to and park for a downtown location. The vibe of the decor is hip and fun, and it's just a nice place to be. I now actually look forward to trips to Anchorage instead of dreading them! Their standard for cleanliness is excellent, big thank you to the housekeeping staff and desk staff who work so hard!

- S8642XHpauli (8/5): Solid Stay - The Wild Birch is a freshly renovated Old Holiday Inn that was built in the 1970's. So, with that said, the ceilings are low and the layout is long. We had a room at the end of the hotel, so going to the coffee bar in the morning was a long walk. Good way to get your your morning steps in, however, there is a nice coffee machine similar to a keurig in the room. The location is downtown in the mushing district of Anchorage. The hotel would be a great location for Fur Rondy and Iditarod Sled Dog races. The room was nicely decorated, clean and beds were comfy. There was a bit of noise, from other rooms, but it helped being on the top floor. Parking is on 3rd Avenue and the hotel entrance is on 4th avenue, so just know that you'll have to go around the block and down a hill to park.

- Geordie405 (10/5): Excellent Stay - We stayed here for one night earlier this month as part of a short trip to Alaska. We’d booked an urban suite on a B&B basis as it wasn’t much more expensive than a standard king room. We had struggled to check in using the Hyatt app, but managed via the full website and then were able to get our digital key. However, we still had to stop at the desk to get our breakfast vouchers. The hotel has a modern, contemporary, industrial vibe to it. Our room was cosy but very well equipped and decorated. As we had a suite we actually had two bathrooms which was a plus when getting ready in the morning. There was a little bit of noise from the street but we slept well. Earplugs are provided if you do need them. As others have said, the elevator by the lobby takes you to the 3rd floor but you then have to walk down a small flight of stairs to access the rooms. It’s a bit of a bizarre design but there is another elevator at the far end of the corridor without this challenge. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Both meals were very good indeed. Service was friendly and professional. We had salmon and lasagne for dinner. Breakfast was the reindeer hash and the steak and eggs. Everything was freshly cooked to order, with breakfast taking an hour from sitting down to leaving. However, the food is definitely well worth the wait! Everything was fresh, piping hot, well presented and all served at the same time. The only downside to our stay was that the lobby gift shop and coffee shop wasn’t open as advertised due to some staffing challenge. However it did seem to have a good selection of gifts etc. I have to say that staying here really was a breath of fresh air compared to our usual hotel in Anchorage. We’d thoroughly recommend it, and we’d have no hesitation in staying here again.

- Patricia (8/5): Comfortable and nicely remodeled. - The lobby was inviting and the room was nicely remodeled. The sidewalk was heated so clear of ice which was lovely as the rest of downtown was really icy. The heater in our room was so loud when it kicked on. Sounded like a jet plane taking off.
