Guest Reviews
- Moore (9/5): -
- KevinS589 (2/5): Dirty and disappointing. - Arrived late and there was nobody working the front desk. Was able to use the app to check in and open the door. Called the front desk again and still nobody. Room was beat up, no towels and the bathroom light was not controlled by the switch in the bathroom, but rather a switch in another room. Finally, at 8:00am there was no food left for breakfast and nobody was there. Not up to Marriott standards.
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): Friendly great place - The staff as very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The place was clean and the beds comfortable. Would have liked a hot tub and a little larger pool
- Obnerlande (10/5): - Good
- Ollie (9/5): - Location, size, comfort Room lighting was confusing at first (there is a universal switch)
- Rahmawati (10/5): Great hotel - Clean and spacious
- Monnica (9/5): I will definitely be sharing my experience and returning in the near future - The breakfast was really good and the location was excellent There is nothing that I didn’t like. The stay was amazing. Great customer service amazingly lovely workers!!
- Erica (9/5): A Great Night Stay - I needed a full kitchen to cook in for Thanksgiving and it worked out perfectly! Also, the rooms are definitely made with thick walls because you couldn't hear us or others or smell all the food I cooked which was a plus. Beds were also very comfortable. Breakfast was also pretty good, I liked the sausage. The shower pressure wasn't the best.
- Cynthia (6/5): Fair - Location and the front desk staff are amazing A little run down. I chose this property from past scores and felt was not accurate.
- john (4/5): - Staff Heat was cold. Bathroom fixtures were broken.
- Lutherya T (10/5): -
- Williams (10/5): - I would book this location again. The lady that checked us in was rude.
- Daydream28606397255 (2/5): Owner is not customer oriented - We reserved a room with points and had to cancel inside of the 48-hour window. Online it said that the points would be reinstated back to our account and there was potentially a fee. Called customer service about the fee and they could see no fee that would be charged. I called the front desk of the Residence Inn Champaign to confirm. They said the owners of the hotels have the option to allow points to be reinstated or not, and that the owner of the Residence Inn Champaign chooses not to allow points to be transferred back to a customer's account so we would be losing our points. I asked if I could have a list of hotels of this owner and of course couldn't get it. Sure won't ever stay at this hotel if that is the owner's stance though.
- Amanda (10/5): - Nice staff. Clean. Good price.
- Terianna (10/5): - Great everything
- Janine (10/5): - Very spacious rooms and great amenities.
- Sharon (6/5): - room was clean but showing wear. limited kitchen utensils for cooking. Disappointing that the pool was not useable as my son was really looking forward to swimming while we were there. Staff was nice.
- Edward (10/5): The Residence Inn was a great choice for a weary traveler. Good value for the money, well maintained - Good location, off the Interstate but far enough for no traffic noise. Convenient to many varied food choices. Clean facility and a spacious and well appointed room. Friendly staff and good breakfast. A good stay!
- F7353NIjimj (4/5): Fully Renovated? - Booked directly on Marriott.com. If you are going to say "fully renovated" on the hotel banner why do I need this (or 2) in my room? Thanks for the upgrade from a Studio booking but, really?
- Oris (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): I stay at this hotel a lot in many city’s and I have never had to pay360 for one night!!! Ridiculous and will never do - Everything but the taxes on the room. It was an additional 60 dollars and the room was over priced only because the Illini was playing. The price
- Quentice (8/5): -
- Iliana (9/5): Great location and good for two nights stay - Employees were great!! And friendly! Breakfast was also tasty. There was no towels in the pool. There’s improvement needed to be done around property and cleaning.
- Hyunjoong (10/5): - The front desk staff were all very friendly. The breakfast was also good.
- Denise (6/5): Wonderful staff-The room needed work - The front desk staff, Saleema and Van were just wonderful.
We had many issues with the room but they tried to resolve the issues as best they could. They were always pleasant and helpful. I must way that we did talk with management and they did comp us for 2 nights because of all that we went through. I would give the Residence Inn another try next time we travel.
- Nelson (10/5): -
- Chunhui (4/5): - The cover sheet for sofa bed had a huge urine stain left on it and the stain is even on mattress, the sheet was not changed before the new guest moved in. It is really surprised and disappointed that this happened in the good name hotel as Residence Inn - I never ran into this situation before in any hotel.
- jianbo (10/5): - Convenient place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Na
- Wiwik (10/5): - Clean and very friendly and helpful staff.
- Tamajit (2/5): - Did not get the room we requested and paid for with the sofa bed
- Brittany (8/5): Good family overnight stay - This hotel overall was nice. Breakfast was included, there was also a small kitchen and separate bedroom, which was a great setup for my family of 3. The pool was indoors and my husband and toddler enjoyed it.
There were a few small maintenance needs for the building, but they did not affect my stay. I would stay here again with my family, and would stay at this chain in other cities.
- Yashica (10/5): Upset children - It was amazing until the receptionist told me I couldn’t take my children swimming she said it was only 4 allowed in the pool I didn’t understand I have 5 children plus me I rented a one bedroom suites which sleeps 5 I only had 2 extra with one being autistic and the other a baby didn’t see why me and the others couldn’t swim so with that I give this stay bad comments with customer service my children cried I had to pay extra to take them to an aquatic center
- Terianna (10/5): - Great service
- Laci (4/5): - I didn’t like that I was put into a room that had damage, now I risk paying a damage fee. On top of that when I checked out this morning the front desk told me I still owed money even though I pulled up my receipt showing I paid in full a week in advance. I ended up paying more money because your hotel can’t communicate with third parties that put your hotel on their website so people can book. It was terrible and the staff never figured out why I had to pay more money, I won’t be back.
- klo73 (10/5): Clean room, plentiful options at breakfast - When checking in the on-duty manager took quite a while to arrive back at the desk. I think she was the only employee there that late at night (8pm). She was quick and friendly once she was able to get us checked in. Room was spacious and clean. Lots of good choices for breakfasts.
- Teresa (2/5): - Wasn’t there
- Amy (8/5): -
- Heinz (10/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): - full kitchen, nice bathroom/shower, very comfortable bed, spacious room.
not an issue on previous stays but this time there was an issue with the central AC. my room had a portable AC unit that worked fine but was noisier than the normal central AC.
- JEMO (8/5): - I did like the room was clean and in order.
- Marie (6/5): - Super clean - I think the staff is new so expect to have some patience :)
- Ryan (8/5): - I’m nitpicking but my shower handle was a little wonky.
- ruthie123 (10/5): Excellent stay. Comfy bed, professional staff and good breakfast. - I would stay here again the next time I’m in the area visiting. The staff was very accommodating when I asked for an extra pillow and soap. The managers were very professional yet nice the guests. The breakfast was good and hot and the hotel was very clean at least the parts I saw. I need assistance with handicap room and it wasn’t a problem. For the price you can’t beat it. The only problem was the weather but the hotel can’t help that.
- Gassmann (8/5): Very good -
- Lois (10/5): - Very clean, nice room. Friendly check in person.
We will definitely stay here again.
- Siekara (10/5): - Great staff and wonderful breakfast. This is our pick everytime.
- Chenteyanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (10/5): Great stay -
- Amy (4/5): - Very dirty and rum down. One of the worst Residence Inns I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was nice but charged me for an extra night stay because I checked out early. The ditch area in front of the hotel has so much trash that it really distracts from the property.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Bugs and Hair YUCK!! Refund please! - There were bugs all over the wall and hair on the sofa bed. When I called to talk to a manger about it my call was not returned. The price of the room is way too high to deal with disgusting issues like this! I want a refund!
- Joey (10/5): - The hotel was very nice! Co
- Karen (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay and front desk was lovely!
- Cory (4/5): Check in nightmare - When we got there they had not reserved our room. They were remodeling and we stayed in a room with no HVAC. It had 2 space heaters for heat. All of the staff were wonderful and very helpful, but they said that rooms reserved via a third party were not actually confirmed.
- Dawn L (8/5): - Get up early to eat. Breakfast times are SHORT
- Misty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff, the facility was clean and confortable
- Charles (10/5): Family Getaway - We really enjoyed our stay
- Lori (6/5): Needs some attention - Carpet on room was in rough shape. Sensed something of lack of cleanliness. Kind of a string of something gross around the bath sink. General smell in the hotel was not pleasant. Hallways extremely hot. Smoke detector over bed was flashing a lot all night. Disruptive.
- Anita (10/5): - Weekend trip to campus was comfortable with stay at this place
- Melissa (10/5): - Great pet friendly hotel for a family meet up!
- Ken (10/5): - Simon and staff were wonderful
- Charles (8/5): Nice stay - Enjoyed my stay , elevator needed to be mopped.
- 29adamc (10/5): Amazing service, great housekeeping! - Exceptional staff, friendly service at every interaction, and very communicative! Went with friends for a basketball game and the Residence Inn team was wonderful! Huge shout out to Pierra, Saleema, plus the housekeeping team at Residence Inn Champaign!
- Jasmine (10/5): - Nothing to complain about. Great staff. Nice room with plenty of amenities. Loved the shower
- T6597NZhaileys (10/5): Accommodating staff - Hotel staff were accommodating. I requested an extra pillow and it was immediately brought to my room. Breakfast lady seemed too busy to answer my questions but all other staff I encountered was great! Overall would stay again if I am ever in the area.
- Duane (8/5): - Nothing special
- Lois (8/5): - Very nice. Decent price. Vaughn was especially helpful.
- Jodi (8/5): - We had a good stay. Some gnats in the bathroom.
- William (10/5): - Great stay
- RJTravelsWithSnacks (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid for the love of bonvoy - If there’s a single thing you can do for yourself for self-care in Champaign it’s avoid staying at this hotel. They do not care if you’re a loyal Bonvoy member, they do not care that you’re paying for a room, they do not care if you need the basic amenities that you thought you were going to get.
Compared to other Bonvoy properties, this place is an embarrassment. The management is horrible. Some staff members are great but the housekeeping is far below inadequate and if you are an extended stay guest and you’re showing up with the expectation your room will be cleaned literally at all, you should rid yourself of that fantasy.
The facilities are not maintained - the gym is constantly too hot, the laundry machines are half broken, and if you’re visiting with kids don’t imagine the basketball court is still there in late 2024. And don’t get me started on the metal door jamb that fell right off our door and almost landed on me.
They need to do a ton of work on this place and a ton of training with the staff and their new management understands this but they don’t want do anything about it, instead solely focusing on getting out of the red. At one point during our stay a construction crew was given carte blanche to work as if the entire hotel was empty and this led to trash and boxes in every hallway of all four floors. Why go here for a room when they’re going to behave like this and not work around the fact that there are paying customers here?
Frankly they don’t care if you’re happy or not because they know they’re going to get the one night or two night stay guests who are just in Champaign to see a U of I game.
Marriott should sell the naming rights of this place to some low rent grifter so its new name matches the quality you’ll actually get when you stay.
- Tara (8/5): Very good - breakfast loud the air condition in rooms
- Mindy (8/5): - Beautiful room. Big room.
- Jessica (8/5): - The TV channels are alot to be desired. Both NBC and ABC were blacked out.
- James A (10/5): - Great stay
- 937daleb (8/5): Good place to stay once they get their kitchen problems resolved - The hotel was nice. They are in the process of updating so the carpet in the hallway is beautiful and some rooms have nice new bathrooms and others are still old but overall it’s nice. They had a problem with the kitchen and the health department shut it down so they just had prepackaged stuff for breakfast. Nothing hot or refrigerated. But they are working on it. There was a corporate manager there and he was very friendly and it was obvious that he was training the staff. The assistant manager Saleema was outstanding. She went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. I feel confident that the hotel will continue to improve.
- Daphne (10/5): Exceptional -
- kelleyw980 (10/5): Girls Trip - Rooms looked brand new. Played on the basketball court which was a nice touch to the hotel…. Especially after a long drive with my friends. Lots of stores and restaurants around the hotel that were easily accessible. All in all not too shabby.
- David (6/5): - This is a newer style R.I., not the old separate buildings. I like this much better.
However, the bed is so close to the HVAC unit it is difficult to get past. That part of the room is simply too small. It was the same way at a newer Fairfield Inn I recently stayed at. Bad design Marriott.
Also, the shower floor was ridiculously slippery. Quite dangerous.
There was no breakfast available and no explanation. Thinking it might have been a staffing issue which is not unusual. But, I was only offer edit $10 off or 2,500 points. Feel like it should have been more.
- Kristi (6/5): No hot buffet breakfast available - Hotel stars full hot breakfast buffet and it was not available, not even continental. The only thing available was coffee, packaged muffins and whole fruit. Not acceptable. I pick hotels based on breakfast available and to not even get a simple continental breakfast with yogurt, cereal, juice was not acceptable.
- judith (8/5): - Room was warm at night
- Lori (10/5): - My stay was outstanding, my only complaint is the carpet smelled like wet dog otherwise the staff and the room were great!
- Selena (10/5): - Staff was very kind, breakfast was nice, the room was dusty though, and the door to the bathroom was not properly placed, and was hard to open and close, the shower also didn’t have a sliding door and water would get everywhere.
- Loni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martell (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could be better. - Water was dripping in the shower all weekend. Which was loud all night. They did offer to fix it but we were in a time crunch and no time to wait in the room with maintenance. Asked for extra towels and toilet paper, the do not disturb sign was out but they still came in the room to drop off. The gym could use some equipment wipes. Loud noise from pipes? at 4:00a and 5:00a every night. Woke everyone up in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Residence Inn - Champaign - Overall, quite good, but noise level between midinight and 2 AM from the fire pit area was loud and heard 3 floors up.
- Matthew (10/5): - Just the right location. The place had everything.
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- rondar156 (2/5): Poorly managed - Poorly managed. Request manager to call twice. 2nd time asked the assistant manager to have the general manager to call me. Received no call back. ☹️
The place is not run like a typical Marriott. Poor breakfast, over 75 degrees in exercise room, hard beds, dirty hallways.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loss of Loved One - Absolutely amazing, clean, staff was well informed and comforting. You see I lost my aunt and was headed to the funeral. They were very sympathetic and even gave me a goodie bag to cheer me up! I give them 5 stars easily! A+++
- SarahB368 (10/5): Great Place - Best customer service and such a clean hotel. Pieria went above and beyond and was so helpful. She is an excellent customer service representative for this brand we love and she made our visit so easy and comfortable. Thank you Pieria and team
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good - Great staff, ample space. 10 minute drive to campus. Nearby restaurants. Standard continental hot breakfast Limited parking (went for graduation weekend so it was a busy weekend). Everything else was great.
- Julie (10/5): - Quiet, comfortable, recently renovated property. Really nice suites with kitchen, sofa and BR. Worked well for remote working while visiting family. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Stephanie (2/5): - We came in for a three night stay but ended up only staying one hour. The first room had bed bugs, a leaking ceiling and used personal toys (if you know what I mean) under the mattress.
The second room had a non working thermostat. We left after that and will never be back.
- S8177IUcarlosw (10/5): Awesome - Truly a wonderful experience! The general manager John Hammond assured me and even proved he does his due diligence to ensure the operation hotel is not subpar. During the stay I asked him a question about the pool water temperature and he immediately contacted one of his staff to re confirm that it was indeed at the required temperature before I use it.
The hotel met and exceeded my expectations. Friendly staff, comfortable very spacious up to date rooms, the walk in shower was very elegant and all the amenities were in good working order. The kitchen in the room was very convenient.
- Jovana (10/5): - Front office staff was great!!
- Jayalakshmi (10/5): - Great clean and well maintained hotel with very spacious rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is undergoing renovations and the room we had had been updated. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good as well. I would highly recommend.
