Guest Reviews
- John (2/5): Never again - First room (and only one with private bathroom) had a window missing. Was moved to another very very basic room, old no heating and dirty!! Have been promised a full refund
- William (8/5): - The TV was not working properly beds to small, the shower bath was dirty the sink in the bedroom was pot holes...
- Vasil (4/5): Poor accommodation - Staff was polite and helpful.
Bathroom was disgusting. I couldn’t use it. The selling in my room had a hole which was covered with tape
The smell, the dirt was just ……. I can’t find description for that.
- Leon (2/5): Don’t stay here - Awful, I booked 2 nights and only stayed one and stayed somewhere else
- Lazer (2/5): - It is very unpleasant very unprofessional,
I booked the hotel ,after I’ve paid the money
They called me and said the room is booked by someone else,I then had to book another room and wait 10 days for the refund.
Very unhappy .
- Graham (4/5): - The room seemed in a poor state, Unfortunately the shared bathroom needs a really good clean and if poss renew,
The shared toilet was stained that looked like old staining also no toilet roll
- Sarah (8/5): - Nervous to visit after reading reviews. However, there is a lot of refurbishment going on. The downstairs looks fabulous and the car park/outside space is being worked on. The room was ropey, window held open with a block of wood and a pane of glass missing. Curtains not hanging correctly and a socket out. But, we arrived when they were busy and so checking in was delayed. The staff apologised for wait, and the room! The breakfast was absolutely banging and the staff were exceptional. Helpful with questions and went out of their way, which more than made up for the room.
- Anthony (4/5): - Not so good but what should you exspect for £50
- Jonathan (6/5): Station hotel. - The curtains were not hung correctly and left a gap between the curtains, there was a Paine of glass missing from the window, boarded up but still daylight visible around the edge. One and only time we will stay there.
- Tim (8/5): - Cheap and cheerful. great staff
- Viet Long (10/5): - Old and antique property, but super convenient and really friendly staff <3
- Martyn (2/5): Checkin restricted - Hotel was advertised as 24/7 reception when booked
After being stuck in traffic I arrived late, to find no way of accessing my paid accommodation. No support from customer services or the hotel
You must checkin between the set hours
No staff after 9pm
- Derek (2/5): - This pub should not have accommodation!! The room required a total refurbishment. Thread bare carpet furniture falling apart and inadequate. Glass pane in window missing so boarded up. Towels supplied were like cardboard and no facilities to dry them. Corridors also in a mess.
Took forever to check in.
We wanted to leave immediately but due to a horrendous journey we were exhausted.
Woken at 3am by doors slamming and people shouting which went on for over an hour.
Very unsafe property to stay in as no emergency number or anyone to contact on the Saturday evening.
Guests should be paid to stay there absolutely awful
- Daniel (4/5): Staff great. Room not so great. - Firstly I want to say that I got a warm welcome by staff. My disappointment was that my room was cold and generally uninviting. It also looked like is was in desperate need of refurbishment. My biggest gripe though was that the lock on my door did not work so I had to leave my luggage in my car when I went out for the evening. In the morning I was looked after very well and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. So the staff were great but the room was very poor.
- Martina (10/5): Magical hotel with excellent restaurant - Very good location. Professional service. Delicious food. Definitely we will come back.
- MARK (2/5): - Worse place ever left me an my disabled son stranded booked a stay here call 3 times in week to confirm late check in was told no problem on the day i call 2 times said no problem were leave key out at 1 in the morning arived yo gind no key so me an my disabled son was on the street at 1 in morning stranded nearly 3 hours from home spoke to hotel next day to be told not there problem as was canceled several weeks ago as not been avalibke since june never told this when called considering it was only booked 4 weeks before not several very rude lady on phone when i called would stay clear of this place only money grabbers leave disabled family stranded at that time in morning
- Kate (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Very convenient for the train station.
- Jamie (2/5): Save your money sleep in your car - Lady behind the bar had a panic attack and was huffing and puffing with every question no fans widows don’t open doors don’t lock sticks of weed pretty sure it’s a wh0re house car park full of nails (got a puncture)
- Steven (2/5): The worst dive ever - Even though it was cheap the room was a disgrace it was like a squat the landing stunk of weed and it was in an awful condition holes in the wall and ceiling broken windows the shared bathroom was even worse damp mould and very old fixtures and fittings never again
- Robert (8/5): - Propery is a Green King pub with some rooms above. The pub, and the food in the pub are fine.
The rooms could be a set for a 1950s film.
There is a notice which says the rooms are shortly to be completely refurbished.
However the price is very good value considering free parking, and a free english breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Depressing! - So depressing!! Reeked of old and cigarettes, furniture and fittings looked decades old. Very basic rooms, shared toilet didn’t have toilet paper in the morning. Single glazed windows and the traffic can be heard so loud. The price at the desk of the pub was also £25 cheaper than hotels.com
- Greville (2/5): Worse stay ever. - The room was a disgrace. Window sash was broken and hanging down. Window pane dirty and cracked. Unable to close window due to piece of wood fixed on sill to prevent in closing. Cobwebs everywhere. Cupboard falling to pieces. Shelves missing and nails protruding. One drinking glass and one jam jar (For drinking?) Mattress base stained. So disgusted walked out without staying, even though we lost our payment. Hotel generally in serious need of renovation.
- dawn (8/5): - The staff were welcoming and lovely. The breakfast was lovely,we stayed just one night.
There were tea and coffees.
the room wasnt like any in the photos online,i didnt like the room, only one bedside cabinet,no wardrobes,no shower gel or shampoo to use.
- Sarah (6/5): - Convenient to the station, but dated & no tv. Bed was comfortable. Tea & coffee facilities in room but restaurant closed due to no beer on Saturday night.
- Mark (8/5): - Ideal for train station and walkable to town center
- Stephen (2/5): - Room extremely dated and in need of modernisation.
- Roy (6/5): Mixed feelings - I am a little torn here, the accomodation part of the building is aweful, the rooms are very basic and i had black tape on my ceiling covering a hole, the shared bathroom was a health risk, with black mould everywhere shower in a slippy bath. but the service was amazing and the land lady could not have been any nicer, amaing full english. so once renovated i would happily stay again
- Jay (2/5): - Disappointing
- Gareth (10/5): Stay at the station hotel - Was all good room was okay to stay in staff were friendly as well
- Catalin (2/5): - Where do i start the room I stayed in number 9....... AVOID AVOID AVOID. Absolutely disgusting numbers on walls, light doesn't work holes in the walls sockets don't work shower leaks creaky floors windows held open by a piece of wood tried to charge me 80 pound though online was 50 because we said we would book online they then said no available rooms when on website was and is plenty. The staff are not friendly at all and no help avoid this hotel not worth the money
- Anthony (2/5): - To say that I was disappointed with, the Station Hotel in Ipswich is the greatest understatement of the century, the ‘hotel’ is a disgrace and absolute hovel of a place which I would not make my worst enemy reside at.
When you climb the stairs to the accommodation this hovel of a place to stay reveals itself, the corridors and hallways are very rundown and have a desperate requirement for a clean let alone a coat of paint and some maintenance.
The room was awful, if I could have found another place to stay in the locality I would not have stayed it was astonishingly poor, in terms of décor, maintenance and upkeep.
This manifested itself when I noticed a hole in the wall, the ancient worn out furniture, the stained wall above the electric heater, the lack of any bedside lighting, the television did not have an aerial therefore it only had BBC channels to watch, even though the room benefited from wardrobe yet with no clothes hangers it was rendered it useless, the hot tap over the basin was not connected to the water supply therefore there was no hot water, the only window in the room had single glazing and with so many gaps in the frame the cold air from outside streamed in the room making it impossible for the small electric heater to heat the room, the old mattress on the bed made for an uncomfortable nights sleep not helped due to a thin duvet and worn out pillows… I could add more...
- Mark (2/5): avoid - awful place.
cold tatty and overcharged 30 pounds on original price.
avoid at all costs
- Alistair (6/5): Ok stay - Generally pleasent, staff were lovely and friendly. My room was a little old and run down
- Kierra Marie (4/5): - The room was falling apart, the pub downstairs is lovely.
Stayed 2/3 weeks ago for 1 night, recieved a parking fine for £100 for parking in their car park even though they advertise parking included and they take your vehicle registration when you check in. I messaged the hotel about this and was just ignored.
Absoloutely disgusted, advertising free parking for hotel guests when that is not the case. Leaveing me with a £100 fine to appeal and most likely have to end up paying.
Wouldnt reccomend anyone to stay here and most definitely wont be going back.
- stephanie (6/5): - Apart from the scaffolding all around the building - at least the facade was being repainted I believe- the accommodation area was in serious need of a makeover. There were holes in the walls, the sash window was being kept open at the bottom by a tube which stuck both out of the room and into it near the bed and the shower door was broken. There was a reasonable supply of tea and coffee in the room however.
- Nigel (4/5): - Property was quite cheap.
There were no toiletries, and the hot tap was not connected to the mains. Someone had smashed a hole in one of the internal walls. The sash window didn't work, but a stick was provided so the window could be wedged open. It would have been better if sticks of differing lengths were provided so that the window opening could be varied in size.
- Amanda (2/5): - I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! Our room was disgusting, ceiling coming down in bathroom, bare wires in bathroom where there should have been a light, broken bath panel and mould around bath, dried blood on wall and base of bed, kettle lid was broken and held together with cable ties, thick dust on skirting boards, window would not shut properly so couldn’t lock it.
No one around to make a complaint!!
- Mike (4/5): Locked Out! - Did not explain that need a keycode to get in (arrived back at 12.30am and was locked out of hotel, had to climb in through a top floor window!).
Very noisy, both inside and out, so found it very hard to sleep.
- Sashie (10/5): - Really lovely room and nice friendly staff, also food was very yummy and good value.
- J (2/5): Appalling rooms at the Station Hotel Ipswich - The bar, reception area and staff were good however the 2 so called managers' attitude to our complaints was appalling. Told to find another hotel if we werent happy and blaming Greene King as waiting for them to refurbish and only rent out to contractors..if so why advertise and show a nice picture??We had travelled for family funeral could not even get breakfast til 10 am even though chef was there. The bed had no mattress protector just one thin nylon sheet pillows the same. Slippery dirty floor in bathroom no bath mat until we raised the hazzard. No mirrors just a dirty unpainted area on wall where one had been removed.
Just look at photos..health hazzard to say the very least. Should not be rented out! We certainly wont be using Hotels.com again. This hotel needs reporting and investigation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very disappointing - Check in was smooth and easy. The walls in my room were dirty, the carpet was very old, worn, and had holes in it. The overall decor was very dated, tired , and not clean. The tv had no remote. Overall I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of my room and also the decor. They had a sign in the bathroom that said “ please bear with us while we make upgrades to the decor”
For £45 I expected so much more.
- Martyn (4/5): Station dosshouse - Where to start check-in was of, shown to the room fine, get your self sorted and sitting on the bed witching tv and one of the staff gust comes in a lovked room, no knock on the door just comes in !, the shower hose had a split or something in it it lost more water from the bottom than it did from the jet head , the drains were smelling bad the noise from people across the road at 2am and 3 am kept you awake. What a terable place to stay i wont be back .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Functional accomodation. Is currently going through a refurbishment. Bar staff very helpful and friendly
- sarah (6/5): Needs some TLC - Staff lovely, pub it self lovely accomodation not so lovely carpet thread bare ceiling in the bathroom due to a leak wont be long before falls down, can't move around the room without all the floor boards creaking badly. Whole room needs a clean and up grading. And would have liked breakfast but was all locked up no one about , but it was cheap and convinient for the station
- Richard (2/5): Horrible place. - More like a knocking shop than a hotel. Bathroom - shower rail hanging off wall, water didn’t drain away because pipe was at wrong angle, paint on floor, didn’t feel welcoming. Bath not clean, shower mat probably infested with all kinds of bacteria. Kim and Aggie would have a field day. Noisy road outside, ended up leaving at midnight and sleeping in my clean van. Even the owner admitted he wouldn’t stay in his own hotel. Blame greenking brewery’s.
- Alix (8/5): - I stayed in a double ensuite room. The room was basic and in need of cosmetic repairs, it was fine as a place to sleep. The pub downstairs was nice, friendly staff.
- Martin (2/5): - No tv
- Eibe (8/5): Price is negotiable when needed - We were able to check-in 2 hours late, which was very helpful, the service was very kind and helpful, unfortunately breakfast times are late, brewing tea and coffee in the room is possible, the place is clean and tidy but needs renovation...
Good for a night and pleasant pub downstairs
- selina (4/5): Seriously needs updating - Girl on reception very nice and helpful.
Room very dissapointing, Bed clean but sheet and quilt so thin couldnt keep warm, but thats about it. Heater didnt work, Tv didnt work, curtains falling to bits, holes in walls.Bad stains on carpet, Toilet and basin clean, but bath badly stained so wouldnt use it.Ceiling paper hanging down . when i booked it said on my comformation Breakfast availiable pay at property but told that night they dont do breakfast !!!!!
- Cory (2/5): Avoid - Booked a double ensuite room for £50, upon arrival only 1 girl seemed to be working as they have a staff shortage. Taken to my room and its a pig sty, has not been cleaned from the last guest who left it in a state. Get given a new room, with 2 single beds but still ensuite. Same story, not been cleaned. Get then given a single bedroom the size of a cupboard with shared bathrooms. The shared facilities were disgusting, one of the toilets still filled with what could only be diarrhea (i would add a picture but i dont think the website will deem it family friendly). The sink in the room was partially blocked so water took forever to drain, holes in the wall and ceiling, bed was ok but again not what i paid for. Was told i could get a partial refund however no managers were on site to sort this out. In the morming i go down to sort the refund which i would like in full at this point and am told there isnt one in until 11am. Now i have to try and sort this online which is always 10x harder. Will avoid this place like the plague and recommend you do too.
- Justin (4/5): Accomadatiin - When we arrived we was shown to our room and the heating didn’t work and the ceiling in the bathroom was hangs down , I was shocked to be put in a room in that state so after going to complain they put us I. Another room which was a little bit better at least I could take my coat off
- Nick (4/5): - Dirty uncomfortable beds shared bathroom won’t stay again
- Lucy (6/5): - I wasnt told that no food would be available before my stay so had to rearrange plans for my evening meal and i wasnt even offered breakfast
- Liam (8/5): - Staff was very friendly
- DOUGLAS JOHN (4/5): - No tv no heater in room working no breakfast option due to being sunday being sent a parking fine when sign to be free which i have to now contest
- Jennifer (4/5): - Would not recommend. The hotel was conveniently located, however there were a number of issues meaning I would not stay again for the current rate.
As we arrived (9pm) the fire alarm was going off there were some customers in the bar but no staff member in sight. Once the alarm stopped, someone appeared. The alarm went off again at 7.30am the next morning.
The check-in process itself was a bit haphazard and over complicated getting the staff to understand my dad and I had booked two separate rooms and wanted to pay for them both together. Room 14 was in a state of disrepair and Room 9 had a shower that did not work - there was no one available in the morning to report to. After popping out for something to eat, we returned to the bar about 10.25pm and decided to have a drink before turning in. There was a large chalkboard in front of the bar with a range of hot drinks listed so my father ordered a hot chocolate and was then told that the hot drinks machine is turned off at 9pm, so he had to choose something else. There was also a beep (every 5 seconds) coming from an electronic alarm device in the hall outside room 9... this went on all night and was quite disturbing. It could also be heard from Room 14 to a lesser extent.
- Gareth (4/5): - The unique challenge was trying to get outside at 0700h. No signs, good job there wasn't a fire I would definitely have burned to death. The pub had very unsavoury locals, and the rooms and the building was in a terrible state. I kind of felt like I needed a wash being there. The only upside was the very friendly guy that attended me.
- Andrew (4/5): Stay in Ipswich - Looking on the website it looks really nice, however when we arrived its a different story. As a public house, the food and restaurant are good enough, the room not so good. The stair way is not well lite. The bed needs renewed, along with all the other furniture. The hotel needs a makeover.
- Rebecca (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - The room was absolutely disgusting. The bed was broken. Holes in the wall. Stained floor. Absolutely stank. Fire detector not working. Felt like we would fall through the floor. Bathroom flooded in every way. Ruined our time away to say the very least. I have a video but it won't allow me to upload it
- christopher (8/5): - i liked the friendlyness of the staff and their willingness to help you for anything you ask. a huge is the location which is opposite the Ipswich Rail station so you have immediate access to anywhere in East anglia.
- Roger (6/5): could do with some decorating. - could do with Decorating.
ideal for Railway Station and Bus to Town Centre.
if you stay here , Phone before to Check your Booking.
as i booked 2x Rooms, but only one was available on Check in. the Very Helpful Friendly Staff sorted us out and my Friend got a Reduced rate room.
- Stephanie (2/5): - I booked a room and when I got there with my friend - they were closed!!!... We were stranded in Ipswich with nothing else but a £250 room to choose from!!. There excuse was that it was football night! I don't know that translated towards booking the room - but extremely poor service. We couldn't even contact anyone to find out what had happened. No note on the door, nothing. The place was simply locked up solidly. I couldn't even reach Expedia... was transferred to America ! Not a great experience...
- Paul (4/5): Awful - Staff were polite and helpful.
Room was awful, wallpaper hanging off ceiling, plug sockets hanging out the wall.
Toilet seat was not fixed properly so it was wobbly.
There was a note in the room on the wall saying refurbishment is due please bear with us.
And due to no staff the next day it was closed so no breakfast.
I will not be staying here again.
- Derek (4/5): Very rough condition. - Exposed wires in the bathroom, bathroom light did not work and wall paper hanging from the ceiling.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Clean and comfy but awful and old - Very clean and comfy bed and huge tv on wall BUT stains on carpet and mattress. Wallpaper hanging off ceiling. Needs complete redecoration. For £250 it’s overpriced for its condition.
- FRANCO (4/5): Potential TBA - The pub and the garden are good but the accommodation was a major disappointment. Floor on the upper floor of the building including our room creaked at every step and not in a charming character way. The bed was in sympathy with the floor and we felt every spring and the frame with every movement. There was a "notice" in the room apologising for the refurbishment none of which was taking placevin our room. The bathroom was dirty and we had no plug. More disconcerting was there was no-one on site that we were aware of to speak to on either night we were there. The pub shut early Saturday afternoon and we never saw anyone after that.. it really has potential to be a decent place perhaps our stay came too soon.
- Peter (2/5): - Do not stay here !!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Breakfast not available despite advertising. Tea making facilities Kettle, tea NO CUPS. No plug in washbasin. Mattress appalling springs stuck in your back…needs burning. Best of all..a very tired looking notice , pealing from the wall, promising complete refurbishment soon. DONT GO THERE EVER.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Station Hotel, Ipswich - Lady at the front desk was lovely, and the check-in was very smooth.
And as rooms go, at £45 per night, it's cheap.
But I couldn't open any of the windows in the room, and the many pipes which ran through the room were running with hot water - so the room was stifling hot all night.
Shower was good, water was hot, bathroom was ok level of clean.
Wifi was fast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - very poor room .hole in room walll curtin didn't shut properly.told where room was id been traveling all day went sleep.woke up early went to put tv on .not working.went down for breakfast as booked with breakfast included.no.one there 2 hrs later checked out.put keys in box .i rang left message about breakfast ..day later not heard from them rang again .someone answered this time said they didn't do breakfast.and if id have said something about tv when i booked in they could have given me a refund...please nobody go there out dated decoration blue bottle flies in reception .from car park.
- Daniel (2/5): Avoid this hotel - very disappointed , the place is not worthy for sleeping, extremely dirty place.
Please avoid
- Leslie (2/5): Won't stay here again! - Was told check-in was from 1500 hours, we got to the hotel approx 1430 hours and were just able to book in before the hotel closed its doors due to Ipswich Town playing football at home. Quickly shown to our room before the staff finished for the day. Was told by the staff member that showed us the room that we could get a coffee before they closed when they actually stopped serving at 1430 hours. Had to get a coffee and a bite to eat across the road in the railway station. The stairs were very dark and had dark carpet which was a hazard waiting to happen. Staff left the hotel and wasn't due to return till the next day around midday, we were given the security code to gain access in the evening but no staff on duty in case of emergency. Room was very basic, en suite in dire need of updating. Noisy all the time - not a restful nights sleep. Expensive for what we got.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Awful place, check out reviews that say since 2019 refurbishment is imminent, it looks last decorated in 1973, and smells like 1973.
Check in was slow and only 1 person on hotel duty leaving me standing on a broken foot 15-20 minutes and then the stairs are not easy if you are struggling with feet. Radiator in room two hanging off wall and window would not open/stay open (on a really hot night) and as others have said a weird smell around all the rooms - make sure you are also aware of the shared bathroom/toilet and that every sound travels.
- Kevin (6/5): Very poor decor - Very basic. Sink in room didn’t drain water away.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - items falling off in room
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I stayed in room 9. Room totally run down. Sign in the room said renovation was in hand, this room needs it, badly. Carpets to the accommodation very dark and lighting in the halls was very very poor. I kid you not you need a torch to see the door lock. Mould in the shower, room decoration bad, and the floor, not possible to walk anywhere with the creaking floor boards. Nowhere to store your clothes, so the floor it was. Not even a bedside lamp. Plug sockets loose on the wall, not even a socket close to the bed. I could go on but you get the gist. Hope all the rooms are not at this standard.
Bar area was good but beer choice was limited and expensive, £5.10 for a pint of Strongbow, really! The room over looks the main line railway station and be easily seen into, only option is to pull the curtains, not ideal. Even the old windows were badly fitted and not in good condition. Road noise could be an issue for some, seems like all bikes in the area have had there silencers removed for some reason.
A pity so many problems.
Staff were helpfull. A little w
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff are great and its a nice pub but the room was hopeless. Furniture falling apart, no plug in the sink, no milk with the tea/coffee, grubby carpet, window held open with a piece of wood so I couldn’t close it.
- Dp (2/5): Stay away - Just terrible and in need of more than decorating. Its damp, noisy, shared toilet and bathroom, i did actually get moved to one with a shower and toilet in. The electrics all need checking, its dirty and every floorboard squaked. Just terrible. Wish i had read the other reveiws first but was in a rush. And the bed was shocking i wish id took photos now.
- Regular (2/5): - I rented a suite key didnt work properly, squeaking floor, the carpet was dirty, bathroom ceiling paint was peeling of, bath tub broken, toilet basin water tap was slow, tv pixels was poor, food was horrible my steak was cold. The only thing good was the bar service and convenient right outside the train station
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not worth the money. My room had no where to hang or store clothes. No bedside lamp.extremly old bed and very uncomfortable.old and dated bits of furniture.the heater is very old and not consistent.small inadequate TV..The second room booked had literally ceiling covering in the bathroom was dropping down from the ceiling..old and dated furniture etc.. like something out of the 70's.would definitely not stay here again😠
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bathroom wasnt clean, bottom of bed was ripped. :(
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The pub is nice. The staff are friendly & helpful. The accommodation is terrible. Room & bathroom desperately in need of total refit. Grim.
- Sonny (2/5): Don’t stay here - The bed was horrendous. The shower was terrible. The curtains were see through and the room was damp and cold.
- RobertHatton (2/5): - Disgraceful - Dirty - Dangerous
Would not let animals sleep there - I travelled 270 miles to an absolute filth hole
Broken windows sealed with plastic sheeting and cardboard
Holes in walls
Holes in ceiling
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Superbly convenient for train station and good sports pub, good value for money. This is a basic hotel but for the price that's OK. Room and en-suite were clean but corridors very tired and scruffy. Breakfast was excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Generally OK but in need of renovation , room very basic . Probably 2 Star .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Booked accommodation last minute. Only available was a twin room, with shared bathroom. Tjoughonot a problem as I’ve used them before and always found them ok. Well Im shocked by the state of this place. Checked in and saw price list .twin room was £50 so got it cheaper on here. Bedroom was terrible, window propped open by a bit of wood, there was another door in room, with a nail for a handle, opened it up thinking it was an un-suite.
But was just a junk cupboard full of wood and broken chairs. Was old and dated. As for bathroom. Never seen anything so disgusting in my life. Bath was rotten and dirty, floor dirty, you would need another shower after using it.other than bathroom
Could only find one other toilet and that was other end of dirty poorly kept corridor. Fire alarm kept going off early hours of morning. I don’t normally write negative feedback but this place is not fit for stray dogs let alone humans. Will never go back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were helpful and polite .room was clean and ok for what we paid .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The double room I occupied was in extremely poor repair, so much so that I spent 2 hours of my evening ringing around other hotels to secure alternative accommodation. Unfortunately to no avail.
Whilst I appreciate the hotel fronts a busy road and some traffic noise was to be expected, a set of lined curtains to prevent the room being lit up like Blackpool illuminations would not have gone a miss.
The bed itself was in such poor condition I was unable to make myself comfortable as each time I moved I was attacked by a rogue spring in the mattress. I actually resorted to fully dressing myself and laying on top of the duvet to provide some protection from said springs, and a little comfort.
The bathroom... well....where do I start?! A cistern that continued to fill for my entire stay, with a dripping that proved distracting in the wee hours. A shower that was missing a base board, a seal hanging off the door and water pressure so poor it resulted in me filling up a bottle (which took an eternity) and throwing it over myself.
The pressure in the cold tap on the sink was a trickle so I was forced to use the bottled water once again to clean my teeth. And let’s not get me started on the disrepair to the tiled floor. I sliced my toe on the cracked tiles, I dread to think how many before me may have suffered the same plight.
I was impressed at the lack of lighting around my bedroom door, which made things really easy when trying to locate the lock!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The worst hotel I have ever stayed in with my company
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The first thing we saw when we pulled into the car park was rats. A lot of rats. We then had to walk through where the rats were to get to hotel reception. I just wanted to turn around & leave. The room was horrible. I didn't want to touch anything. We bought Dettol spray from Tesco & used the whole can, spraying everything in the room, especially the bed. One of the pillows appeared to have mould on it. The ceiling in the bathroom was peeling away. There was black mould all through the bathroom. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
- m (2/5): Oh dear what have I done !!! - Find somewhere else. The youth hostel probably better.
If you can get more than a dribble out of the shower your blessed. Oh not much cold water in basin tap. To fill kettle oh that's a travel kettle with a burnt out bottom
Apparently there was supposed to be a mat over broken tiles. Oh watch out for bed springs they bite...
Don't forget to take an extension lead so you can charge your phone near the bed.
Good luck if you are blessed to stay there
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Get what you pay for I guess.
Extremely dirty and grubby.
Disgustingly hot, thought we were going to pass out so left at 6:30am to cool down in the car.
May as well have slept on the floor the bed was so uncomfortable!!!! Absolutely shocking! Will not be coming back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I knew it was to be a shared bathroom but I expected it to in good working order. One thing about the hotel was the beds were clean an so were the towels.
The hotel did what it had to do one nights stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This property was very basic and more like a hostel and definitely not worth the £70 per night. It was shared bathroom with no sign of any soap or sanitary ware. There was no bin in our bedroom, it was extremely hot and sticky too. Bedroom window did not stay open without the use of a cup. Someone unable to gain access to the property decided that he was going to bang and kick door until someone answered him and the crowds leaving town causing damage and throwing things in to the river just about topped things off. Would never stay there again. Awful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not like that there was a shared bathroom and that it was very dirty, and the window was broken and there was no air con not even a fan! What I did like is that the breakfast was free with your room apart from the full english.
- Colin (4/5): Terrible hotel - Shared bathroom was filthy dirty and in need of desperate redecorating and repair. No shower head and no way was I going to bathe in that filthy bath. The bed had a hole in it and the electric radiator was barely hanging on the wall. The window could either be wide open or shut.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Both rooms were filthy with wallpaper hanging off, plug sockets hanging off, black mould and hairs in bath, carpet stained with God knows what. Would have expected to pay half the room rate for this condition.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Old stinging carpet, false advertising and I seriously won’t go back there nothing of it makes you feel happy or comfortable old pillows bad they need a an upgrade seriously speaking leaking roof
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The front of the hotel and the downstairs bar and rooms were fine but as soon as you got to the door separating the bedrooms from the stairs it was shabby and rather smelly. The door leading to the bedroom corridor was grimy and the entrance ‘lobby’ to the bedroom door was so dark you needed a torch to see the lock easily.
The double room was spacious and the bedding and towels clean. The shower room was quite clean.
However the furniture consisted of two dining chairs and two bedside tables, one of which was used for the tray with the kettle etc.
There were two double hooks on the back of the door, one of which was broken. There was nowhere to hang clothes and no drawers.
The shower room had broken floor tiles and the water from the cold tap was the merest trickle. I could not get the shower to work, although the manager did go to sort it out when I told him.
The owners need to do a lot of work to bring the rooms up to an acceptable standard.
Oh, and there was no breakfast available until 9am, apparently because the guests are out early.
