Guest Reviews
- thomas (6/5): Lovely room above a nightclub - The location was right next to the castle. Room was a good size, bed was very comfortable. No carpark but there was one 5 minutes walk for £4.50 for 24 hours. There was dust hanging from the ceiling above the bed. Bathroom could do with a lick of paint.
Around midnight music came blaring through the floorboards at an alarming volume, changing tracks before any of the songs ended, then about 30 people singing Oasis very loudly and then back to loud raging dance music switching tracks every half a song in what I can only describe as someone on drugs taking a nightclub hostage. This carries on for a full hour.
When I mentioned this in the morning, I was informed this may have been the owners.
- Uffe (3/5): Holder ikke hvad der bliver lovet. - placeringen i centrum. At der ikke wifi, som der ellers var reklameret. Kun "for the management" fik jeg at vide. Gammeldags bruse-faciliteter.
- marianne (7/5): Great location for my visit to walk the wales coast path - Convenient location The public house part of the property was not used by me as it was usually occupied by men only
- Robert L (7/5): - Friendly staff and customers. Great location and value for money. People coming in in at all hours.
Also the WiFi cutting out repeatedly.
But Caernarfon on a Friday 😊🍻
- Katarzyna (8/5): - Room was nice with great bay view

- Peter (5/5): - The noise was terrible till 1am
- Janet (1/5): Discusting - Nothink Terrible damp in room and bathroom shouldn’t of been let out , , no refund was given

- Ollie (8/5): - The bed and shower WiFi was always playing up
- David (3/5): Would not recommend - Menu looked nice, although we didn't eat there. Central Location. Basic rooms but clean Wifi wouldn't work. TV would not work. Very little sleep. You could hear everything from every room. There was a raucous going on all night. A row happening all night long. Doors slamming all night long. I gave up trying to sleep and at 3am I just got up. The next day I spoke to my colleague who also stayed and had no sleep either, they said that the person that was going mental was actually a staff member. It was horrendous.
- Bridie (8/5): Great place - Great location, nice rooms. Shower ran cold occasionally, but otherwise great
1er,jours d'hiver.

- Mark (5/5): Much better available for the price - Location was great. Bar underneath very loud until 2:00 am but check out is a very early 10:00 am.
Bathroom has mould on the ceiling.
Beer in bar undrinkable.
- Kerry (8/5): - Good location Previous guests snacks in drawers , no towels
- Geraint (5/5): -
- Wayne (7/5): -
- Hayley (3/5): Location was great, that was it. - Location is great, room was very big, bar downstairs. No hot water in the sink, shower soaked the bathroom, only 2 TV channels worked, WiFi code no where to be found, and karaoke until 2am friday, singing and loud until 2am Saturday. Room was cold, heater wasnt of much use.
- Zuzana (1/5): Never again go on a weekend - Beautiful location I didn’t read information that there is party pub opened until 2am and my room was just above. It was so noisy. Being in bed was like lying on the loudest bass speaker
- Lietzau (7/5): -
- Lauren (7/5): -
- stella (10/5): - Perfect location Nothing
- Glyn (7/5): Simple and straightforward - Great location at a great price

- Jonathan Ceri (6/5): Location was outstanding for why we were in Caernarfon, large comfy room, comfy bed but noisy! - I must admit, I thought I had found a bargain. My daughter was running the Caernarfon half-marathon and Y Castell is located on the square where the race started. Just check out and walk straight to registration. The room was on the 1st floor, PLENTY of space. Bed was a long way from the tv which was on the other wall. Shower was decent enough (did lose "pressure" so went cold - it's an electric shower!). The bed was quite comfy. Did not really get a "warm" welcome. The first thing I was told was "you know we open late and it gets noisy right? It says so on the website!". Well NO, I did not know this. You have to expand (if using a mobile phone as I was) the "The fine print" right at the bottom of the booking page to be told "the property has a late license and as a result guests should expect the bar to be busy until the early hours of the morning on weekends." At about 2100 on Saturday night, the noise was quite tollerable, no thumping loud music, however, we were woken up by very loud patrons who were under the influence outside the window in the early hours. There were a lot of banging doors. So, headphones were put on and we tried to get back to sleep. Then from 5am there were clean up crews and/or people setting up for the half-marathon - they were not using quiet voices at that time in the morning, but that's not Y Castell's fault! Headphones back on until alarm at 7am. There was a bit of mold at the top of the shower as there is no expelair or ourside window. There was a funny smell in the toilet, could not work out what it was. There is NO parking onsite. You are not even allowed to park outside to drop off bags etc, well thats what I was told when I phoned Y Castell, but when we arrived on foot, plenty of people were parking in the square! But like they say, you take your chances about getting a parking ticket. There is "cheap" parking behind on I think it;s called St Helen's Road - we paid £5.10 for 24 hours with Just Park.
- Jerry (5/5): Our choice was based upon convenient access to castle. We would not choose to stay there again. - Location , tea/coffee in room No offering of breakfast. Towels not ready when we arrived, but available later. Noisy at night when time to sleep. No fan. We opened window.
- Diletta (8/5): -
- Katrina (4/5): Location was great staff where nice room to great we made the most of it and had a great time - The location was great It was not clean it was damp cobwebs in every corner of the room
- Ying (2/5): Good value - Location good No car parking behind parking 24 hrs very expensive £16.50per day
Very noisy no dinner serve after 7pm.
- Harold (7/5): Great if you like to party! - Good location Bit noisy but they do tell you that before arriving, rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade,on the whole ok stay.
- Stoate (10/5): - Fantastic location comfortable No parking bed bit small for us but minor things
- erica (7/5): - Location Wi-Fi wasn’t working
- Casey (10/5): It was amazing the staff were so friendly and helpful. Really recommend. - It was very nice and good area.
- David (10/5): -
- Michael (5/5): Not a pleasant stay I'm sorry to say - The central location The pictures on the website look good but after visiting and staying the deco is tired, Staines on the walls, dusty, rubbish not removed from bathroom bin from previous guests, decoration cushions on bed stained, overall standard of cleaning not acceptable, for the current appearance of the room half the price. With fierce competition for business everywhere the location is good but they are missing a trick when it comes to cleanliness and updating the room, I feel if this was achieved they could double their bookings.
- Emma (8/5): Very good - It was a lovely little hotel. Great size room, very comfortable and very friendly staff. It was very good value for money in an accessible location. The doors were very heavy and you could each one slam each time it was opened. There is no parking , but there are plenty of affordable car parks to choose from.
- Ann (9/5): Superb - View, location, comfortable bed, and the size of our room. There was only 1 chair in our room.
There was plenty of room to accommodate 2 chairs
- Llwyd (9/5): Very good -
- Anna (10/5): Best time of our lives - The view from our window was amazing could watch the sea go in and out and knew what times it would be. The room was amazing and so clean and fresh. And also made sure to top us with coffee etc which I didnt have to go ask you did it before we came back each day thank you.
- Gail (8/5): It was a convenient place to stay to visit Snowden - Both cooked and toast breakfast was fine The people running Y Castell would have been the first to know if I hadn’t liked anything

Didn't eat there. Parking but impossible as it's so central
- Paul (9/5): Staying next to the Castle - Staff were very friendly the room was nice and big
Shower was nice and hot
Location was fantastic in the town square next to the castle
Food in the hotel was good at a reasonable price and the drinks were nice and cold The window in the room needed a little repair so you could open it for ventilation to the room
The bathroom needed a exhaust fan as it gets a little streamy when you have a shower
But those are very small issues if I was back in Caernarfon I will stay at the Y Castle again
- Alan (5/5): Ok if you don’t go to bed till 03..00,told us kitchen not finished for breakfast but thy were serving meals in the after - Central location Shouting, loud music, banging doors till 02.45 in the morning

- Phillip (5/5): Not the best - In a great location for a visit to castle Cleanliness was poor run down bathroom was horrible mould Ona damp smell windows would not open
- Michael (5/5): Passable -
- Kevin (5/5): Passable -
- Peter (3/5): Dreadful and dirty and smelly. - Situation In need of renovation.Run by young people whose friends all congregated at the bar at night with the karaoke. We felt as if we were in the way of a party hotel. No one in attendance at night. We were told by one person that on the day we leave to leave keys on table and make sure the door is shut behind us which didn’t seem very professional. The cleaner who cleaned the hotel stayed after shift and ended up drunk and had to go home in a taxi. Would never return to this hotel again.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff
- Darren (6/5): good location, poor venue! - Location The pub was run down and very dated.

- Andrew (10/5): Central location in the market square near the castle, harbour, cafes, shops, etc. - Central location, really big room, I was able to keep my bicycle inside. The room was dated and needed some TLC, but this was reflected in the price.
- Iacampo (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was nice, food was good, it's literally feet from the castle.
- Buckley (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): Adequate. - Location - couldn't get closer to town centre. Breakfast N/A. No comment - only went there for a bed for the night.

- Jones (8/5): Very good -
- Eleri (10/5): Exceptional - A wonderful stay, so comfortable, and Cardigan town is bautiful. Breakfast was excellent!
- Isla (8/5): Simple and comfy, great location. - Basic facilities, comfy bed, kettle with tea & coffee and bottle of water provided. Rooms on first and second floor, accessed by stairs only. Central location on the square close to the castle. No lift if needed. Bathroom needed decorating. We didn't mind, but the rooms were above a pub open till 2 am.
- Samantha (5/5): Passable -
- Christopher (3/5): Disappointing - We were informed on checking in there would be karaoke until late the music and noises eventually finished around 3am we had a early start so not happy complained to booking but nothing has happened

- Alexandra (5/5): Passable - Location fabulous. It’s on the square, and being above a pub, obviously noisy. However be aware the pub is open to 2am (we were there on a Friday night).
It was cheap and you get what you pay for, room is super small, bathroom even smaller, with a very weak electric shower. Bed was comfy though and great to have tea and coffee. Small thin towels and weak shower
- James (8/5): Very good -
