Guest Reviews
- David (7/5): Good value - Secure parking, ground floor rooms.
Polite professional service
Nice breakfast with exceptional coffee.
Central location.
- Pauline (6/5): Convenient location, firm bed, shower cubicle in the small bedroom which is in need of a refresh. - Quiet room which was once an animal barn (the feeding trough was a feature in the room) which was very quirky. The car parking was barely sufficient to accommodate the number of cars to be parked. The shower cubicle is in the bedroom and the extractor was not working. Lighting is quite low (had to remove the shade from the table lamp to get sufficient light to work at). There was a spider in the toilet area. The breakfast offering was limited. The bed mattress was very firm. The room is in need of a refresh.
- delapag (5/5): -
- Simon (6/5): Good value with breakfast for £99 - Accessibility to places we wanted to visit in area. Parking was tight and get there early for space Staff were great but hotel could do with modernising. Maybe new furniture and mattresses on bed weren’t to ‘our’ liking
- Gonzalo (9/5): -
- Tina (6/5): Clean, cheap, no frills but value for money. - Staff were absolutely lovely. Nothing was too much trouble from allowing an early check in, to extras at breakfast. The room was the cheapest in the area. Everywhere was SPOTLESS! The room was small & very tired. It was very much in need of not only decorating, but also new furniture.
- Nick (8/5): -
- grahame (7/5): The hotel is clean and the staff are good and friendly - Breakfast was good. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. The building was ‘tired’ and needs a refresh.
- Louise (4/5): - Staff very amenable Poor breakfast, I don't eat cooked so could only have cheap cereal and thin toast with cheap jam. No yoghurt, fruit or pastries.
Room very jaded. Tiny shower room. Stained carpet in several different pieces.
- Dawn (9/5): Lovely staff. Fab location. - Wonderful family run business. Very friendly. Amazing restaurant All good!
- Leah (7/5): -
- Rowena (8/5): Ver happy - Great breakfast and great price. Could do with refurbishment but that would put the cost up.
- Martyn (9/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): - The bed was so comfy. The room was so clean and the staff so friendly and helpful
- Carol (8/5): -
- Claire (8/5): - Very welcoming staff and very comfortable bed . I got the bus from oxford and the hotel is just round the corner from a bus stop.
- Karen (8/5): -
- emma (8/5): Great comfortable stay and value for money - Great welcome, all the staff were so helpful. Rooms clean and breakfast was fab

- Ruth (9/5): Superb quality food and great hosts. - unbelievable staff, really friendly and welcoming.
Food was outstanding, best Gurkha curry around.
Breakfast to much to eat, well looked after. mattress was overly firm for my liking.
Parking a large vehicle was a challenge as the courtyard was small/ busy but managed to park each day no problem.
- yvonne (8/5): - The host was exçellant nothing was to much troulble polite and welcoming BREAKFAST was disapointing just. Warmish if that maybe short on portion. Bacon cold very hard and tomatoe was a quarteŕ size of a verÿ small tomato
- Diana (8/5): Lovely host - Clean en-suite My room didn’t look quite like the photos but nevertheless was very clean and everything worked well
- KEITH (9/5): Our second stay there and will be again soon - Excellent staff
- simon (8/5): Good value for money stay with friendly owners. - Great location in the centre of Witney. Price included a decent breakfast. No negatives.
- David (8/5): Great value for money for an overnight in Witney, with superb Nepalese evening meal. - Room was comfortable and clean. Good bed with spotlessly clean bedding. Small bathroom with shower and toilet, but nice clean towels and totally adequate. Absolutely excellent Nepalese meal in the evening. Good cooked breakfast next morning. Really friendly and helpful staff. Room perhaps a little tired but nothing that would stop me recommended this hotel or staying there again.
- Piero (6/5): Staff gentile e struttura pulita - Location e colazione Stanza piccola
- Nic (8/5): Good budget stay in central Witney. - The restaurant and bar area are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to find in Witney. Room comfortable and good value for the price. Breakfast options very good. Room was a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Parking very limited and on a first come, first served basis. Road very busy and noisy at times.
- Lucy (8/5): Nice place to stay on a short work trip - Lots of character, lovely staff, food was good Very small shower cubicle
- Louise (10/5): -
- john (9/5): -
- Philip (1/5): A very disappointing and expensive experience. - Nothing Property was old, extremely dated, unwelcoming, my wife called it a dump. The room we were shown to was awful, very small, worn carpets and furnishings, bathroom was a place in I would not want to use and a bed we would not want to sleep in. After just a few minutes we decided we couldn’t stay there and returned our key and told the manager we couldn’t stay as it was not at all suitable. There was no way we could be comfortable staying there but luckily we were able to stay at a local Premier Inn. This was a sad end to a wonderful long weekend after staying at Stover Lodge in Torquay and Riverside in Salisbury, both marvellous places to stay, also booked on Booking.com I have been using Booking.com for many, many years and this was my only bad experience.
- Morna (9/5): Relaxing, friendly, comfortable, welcoming - All of it Outside frontage a bit rundown
- Jon Salve (8/5): Nice staff, good food, and value for money:-) - Extreme nice straff. Good Nepalese food, and the family from Nepal was enthusiastic about advising us the very best every dinner we had. Old place
- Peter (4/5): Rooms need updating - Going home Staying
- ronald (8/5): Great value and friendly stop for our walking tour down the Windrush - with fine food - Excellent and good value South Asian dinner nicely served and presented.
- Jon (8/5): Ghukka excellent - Nepalese owners beautiful and happy. The place is tired, but lovely hot shower, nice breakfast, super friendly staff.
- Joseph (9/5): - Very nice staff, helpful and friendly. The hotel has a very good parking facility. The food, indian Restaurant was very very good.
- Tracy (7/5): - The Food was excellent The shower was mouldy. There was a problem with the plumbing system which made a lot of noise when other rooms flushed the toilet.
- Jayne (8/5): Great location with free parking and a good breakfast - Great location, free parking, lovely staff and a good breakfast that was freshly cooked. We also ate at the restaurant one evening and had an excellent meal.
Great value for money and we’ll definitely be staying again in the summer. Rather tired and a bit shabby but the bed linen was spotlessly crisp and clean. The bathroom was also lovely and clean.
- andrew (4/5): very dissapointing check in but the room was clean and comfortable - the room was nice and reasonably comfortable and clean. The breakfast was ok obviously done with a budget in mind. I arrived at the hotel a couple of minutes after ten but the place was locked up and i had to wait for the staff to come back, who had gone out earlier leaving nobody at the hotel to check guests in.
I had to wait for twenty minutes sat on a smoking shelter table while someone came to let me in
- lucy (8/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): Very disappointing. Badly in need of a refurbishment - Staff friendly It was run down and above an Indian restaurant
- Marion (8/5): Satisfactory - I only had an omelette which was ok. The entrance to the hotel car park is in a very busy junction, it would have been dangerous to turn right when exiting, the safe way is to turn left, then make a U turn at the next roundabout.
- John (4/5): -
- Louise (7/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was cosy and comfortable and in a good location in the centre of Witney. Also par - Lovely location. Comfortable bed. Really pleasant eating area and lovely breakfast served by a friendly member of staff The bathroom needed updating. It was very basic
- Kathleen (2/5): -
- james (3/5): Falling apart, and poor breakfast and parking, not hotel, Indian restaurant with rooms - Nothing Breakfast poor, very cheap sausage and beans, parking very tight and limited, the pub is an Indian restaurant and n9 other menu this was not advertised, room and bathroom falling apart, very dusty and cob webs everywhere, windows a disgrace on the bathroom
- Gaynor (5/5): Adequate for one night with low expectations. - Comfy bed Room small and basic. Unlike photos. Back building to an indian restaurant. Not enough parking.
- Lynsey (6/5): -
- Michael (8/5): Great place and would recommend. - Location, breakfast, staff. Dated, no plug near a mirror in room 1.
- tintel (10/5): A great hotel and restaurant - Kind friendly staff who went out of their way to help.
A great 2/3 star hotel. Nothing
- Staddon (10/5): -
- Sarah (6/5): -
- Nikki (8/5): Friendly staff in a perfectly acceptable hotel which needs a lick of paint - Good location, does the job for a reasonable price A little tired and dated
- Moira (8/5): A shame about the breakfast.
Re - Staff, bed Breakfast cold and not because l was late
. I only had bacon and toast and coffee. Greasy ,poor quality bacon. Only thing to let the place down.
- Tonish (7/5): -
- Christine (1/5): -
- Rmgburton (8/5): -
- Arron (7/5): -
- Chantal (7/5): - Chambre modeste mais confortable
- Catherine (5/5): Overall, it was good value for money, especially with breakfast included for £99.00. Thank you - The bed was super comfortable, and the bedding was clean and fresh. The room could do with a bit of a refresh, and the sink tap plumbing was reversed, which initially made it seem like there was no hot water.
- Dave (5/5): OK for one night. Pleasant staff and good breakfast. - Good location. Nice breakfast Small car park. Very dated room.
- pourang (2/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Janice (8/5): - Our room was clean and cosy. Good breakfast and we ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent.
- Beth (3/5): The room was old, the four poster bed was glued together and the bathroom smelled like a urinal. Thr bat and restaurant - The area is good for visiting the Cotswolds It is old, tired and in desperate need of rep. The repairs that have been done around the building are shocking!
- marie (3/5): Wouldn't recommend - Not much! Paper thin walls. Cold bathroom (no heating) Awful wine! Cheapest of ingredients for breakfast.
Perfectly understand that this was a budget hotel, but I have had much better budget stays with a decent breakfast.
- John (9/5): - Very welcoming Nothing
- MARK (7/5): Valye but vert tired, needs updating ASAP - Location
Breakfast Room 8, Room tired needs updating
Light bulb missing, curtain tie back needs replacing, nail sticking out carpet, bathroom taps wrongly configured, hot marked as cold, sealant on bathroom poor, needs replacing
- thomas (4/5): nothing great - Nothing really the room was not cleaned properly. clumps of hair on the floor
- Patryk (6/5): -
- Hilary (5/5): - Dinner in the restaurant was good. Nice to have a kettle in the room. Close to town centre and parking on site. Everything about the room was shabby and need some TLC. The mattress on the bed was poor. Bathroom tiny and needed an update.
- Philip (9/5): Excellent Value For Money, Great Food - Friendly, efficient, good value for money. Decoration needed.
- Linda (7/5): -
- Carol (6/5): Friendly staff but sadly tired room although the mattress on bed was very comfortable - Friendly staff, and okay breakfast. Very tired/ dated room especially as we upgraded.
- Motorhomer (8/5): Nice quiet location - great location, very clean and comfortable bed and room. Very quiet. lovely bath. There are some cosmetic issues but nothing that concerned us. Will love to come back the next time try out the lovely food they areserving nothing
- Susan (8/5): Ideal for overnight stay - Kindness of owner/staff
restaurant
- Ashley (3/5): Needs new management - It had parking. The staff weren't very friendly. I asked if they could make a sausage and bacon sandwich. They said no. We can provide toast and bacon and a sausage. So basically, they gave me half a sandwich. Never had this problem before. The room was noisy. Good luck if you get room four. Those cars are loud. The hotel is delapated and needs some updating but I don't think the owners have the money to do it. Three stars is too much for this hotel. To summarise, staff not accommodating, room awful and noisy, and breakfast is poor. I have stayed here before and by accident booked it again (Booking.com needs to warn people they have stayed there before).
Definitely the last time.
- Pauline (7/5): -
- Amy (3/5): - Staff were fabulous. Location great to walk into town. Price lowest in town town. Bed SO comfortable. This is an Indian restaurant with bedrooms above. Not a hotel. Restaurant is loud in the room and rooms are tired in need of a clean/paint. Shower hot and cold depending on others using the showers/ water. Facilities in bar are focused to serving Indian restaurant and breakfast time was awful. No atmosphere, very little choice if you didn't want cooked breakfast. But landlord could not do anything more for us. Photos on line are not the same as current Indian restaurant deco - so appreciate this is cheap for a reason.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Joe (10/5): -
- ken (7/5): - very good restaurant the car park was adequate but pleased it wasn't too busy, the exit/entry is difficult as it is on a very busy double roundabout
- Lord Mark (1/5): Rooms over the top of a curry house, decor of the 1960s with no investment - Nothing I stay in hotels at least twice a week every week & without exception this is the worst “deluxe” room I have ever stayed in!
Four post bed but no room either side, en-suite the same size as a motorway services cubicle! Shower well pipes of bath taps!!
Wall paper on the ceiling inc en suite! Toilet seat falling off, stains on carpet, main light with all shades missing, bulbs missing & not working, rooms over the top of a curry house! Endless but avoid or be disappointed
- Viorel (9/5): -
- Georgina (6/5): -
- Naomi (9/5): Staff were excellent and very friendly. - Quirky and great location and the food was superb Nothing
- Susan (4/5): Disappointed - Not a great deal The bedroom is very antiquated and had very poor decorations. The pillows were very old and flat and had a lot of condensation on the very old windows. Did not find it welcoming no separate bar it is in the restaurant. The Indian meal was ok.
- Beverly (8/5): Good value - Location was great.
Comfy bed
Clean and cosy
Toiletries supplied Some noise from other guests. Snoring and loud television.
- Lucy (6/5): -
- PAUL (9/5): Excellent stay - Brilliant location
- Allan (8/5): -
- MAGGIE (4/5): Poor - Food was good staff were nice Being put in a different room to the one on booking, quite shabby needs serious money spent on it I'm a size 12 and barely fitted in the shower, damp patches on the wall furniture all mismatched
- Angi (10/5): Very welcoming friendly staffed hotel, would highly recommend. - To be originally told no rooms would be ready for us to freshen up in due to arriving early for our family wedding I was delighted 1 room was in fact ready which was fabulous for all of us to use and leave our bags in.
The hotel was close to the wedding venue which made our stay more relaxed
Lovely breakfast along with vegetarian options, overall we were very well looked after, lovely staff I can't fault our stay at the hotel but if I had to pick up on anything it would be the noise of the traffic during the night coming from the countryside in Devon we were just not used to it, saying that it didn't spoil our stay and would definitely stay at The Old Court Hotel again.
