- Nowlle (10/5): Perfection - We spent two fantastic nights here in March.
The accommodation is just spectacular!!! There are two dining options but one option did not suit us so we ordered room service for the second night—- the perfect solution and the food delivered to the room was just perfect !
Light the fire, relax and watch the most amazing sunset!
Would be very happy to recommend this hotel- staff were lovey and so friendly

- TobiasMeerbusch136 (10/5): Anniversary Perfection – A Hidden Paradise Above the Forest - My wife and I spent five nights at Tsala Treetop Lodge to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it turned out to be a truly special experience.
The lodge is located in the middle of a beautiful indigenous forest along the Garden Route, and from the moment we arrived it felt peaceful and private.
We stayed in Tree Top Suite #7, which was absolutely stunning. The suite is incredibly spacious and feels like a luxurious treehouse high above the forest. It has a large living area with a fireplace, a beautiful bathroom, and a private deck with a plunge pool overlooking the trees. Sitting on the terrace in the morning with coffee and listening to the birds was one of our favorite moments during the trip.
What really impressed us was the level of detail throughout the property. The architecture, the wood and stone elements, and the interior design make the lodge feel very unique and atmospheric. It’s one of those rare places where the reality is even more beautiful than the pictures online.
Another highlight was the food. We had dinner at the lodge several evenings and every meal was excellent. The cuisine is refined but relaxed, and the setting in the restaurant in the evening is fantastic. The wine list is also very good.
The staff were wonderful during our entire stay — friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming.
For us it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary: quiet, romantic and surrounded by nature, yet with a very high level of comfort and luxury.
If you are travelling along the Garden Route and want to treat yourself to something special, Tsala Treetop Lodge is definitely worth it.
- Keeley (10/5): - From the moment we arrived, it was was absolutley perfect.

- 4gailh (10/5): Exceptional - Tsala is truly unforgettable. Staying in the treetops, surrounded by forest and birdsong, feels completely peaceful and otherworldly. The setting is breathtaking, and the suites are both luxurious and wonderfully private — you feel cocooned in nature while still being totally spoiled.
Every detail is thought through, from the comfort and design of the suite to the impeccable service. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely make you feel special from the moment you arrive. The food, the views, the tranquility — everything is exceptional.
This is not just a hotel, it’s an experience. We are already dreaming about coming back.
- Nicole (10/5): Expensive but worth it - So beautiful ! The setting was amazing and staff lovely Nothing!
- richard (10/5): Superb in every way - Everything Nothing
- Camila (10/5): -
- Doris (10/5): - Individuelle Villen mit viel Privatsphäre, sehr gutes Restaurant, extrem freundliche Mitarbeiter es gab nichts auszusetzen
- Matthyser (10/5): Beautiful stay and friendly staff. attention to detail. - The rooms are beautiful, attention to detail in everything from welcome drinks to bath bombs. There are 3 restaurants to choose from and the dinners were exceptional and different in each restaurant. Breakfast had everything and more. But the gardens are the gem of the stay. We walked the gardens and found ultimate relaxation. There are buck walking around and it felt like bambi's family were visiting. There is even a gym for exercising off the kilo's from the exceptional food. That I couldn't stay longer. Wish I could have gone during summer but the fireplace and aircon were there to keep us warm.
- Guy (10/5): Stunning - Stunning lodge, you feel that you are really close to nature. Great room, complete with plunge pool. Super friendly staff. We will return. The restaurant could be a little better. Great breakfasts. Some inconsistencies at dinner.
- JQP74 (10/5): Tsala Treetop Magic - I stayed here some 20 years ago, had a wonderful time and was keen to see if much had changed. I wasn’t disappointed. This is such a special place. The villas are out of this world, offering every home comfort you could wish for & more! The bed in my Villa rivals anything the Four Seasons has to offer. The bathrooms are contemporary even though they haven’t changed in 20 yrs - timelessly aesthetic. The living areas offer additional space with a fabulous log burner and big comfy chairs with luxurious throws you just want to wrap yourself in. And finally those views! Wow! I’ve stayed in some fabulous properties but the views that greet you every morning when you throw back those curtains is just stunning.
The food didn’t disappoint either. I ate at the Tsala Restaurant and also at Zinzi. Both offered first class food along with excellent service. Breakfast was especially good at Tsala.
Thank you to John & all the team for making my stay supper memorable.
- kporte674550 (10/5): Beautiful Tree Top lodge - It has to be one of the most amazing places to stay, with your own private little oasis.

Our dinner in the restaurant Zinzi was delicious and the entire staff were so freindly.
Overall 10 from 10
- Thomas (9/5): Würden wir definitiv wieder buchen - Sehr schönes Areal inmitten der Natur mit tolle Villen über den Bäumen und atemberaubenden Panorama.
Phantastische Küche im Restaurant Zenzi.
- Sheila (10/5): Our stay was perfect - gorgeous accommodation & beautiful grounds. - Breakfast was good and location was perfect. Nothing.
- Danah (10/5): - Actually we do like everything but when we go to the other facility we release that some of our money was missing!! That why we thought somebody stole it in our room because 2 times we go out for dinner and breakfast when we come back there was some people clean our room ! And our bags were their
- Caroline (10/5): Luxury accommodation which has such a special vibe, I’d be back in a heartbeat - Luxury start to finish and staff were incredibly attentive Nothing
- Christian (8/5): -
- malsha474454 (10/5): The best - The best hotel ever , very good hospitality very good caring of residents, clean rooms good room service , every thing is legendary keep it up
- Axel (10/5): A little piece of paradise surrounded by nature! - We stayed as a couple for two nights at Tsala Treetop Lodge during our journey along the Garden Route.
For us, it was an absolute highlight: we arrived after dark following a very long drive and were warmly welcomed with a drink by the fireplace in the main lodge.
Our private treehouse (that’s really the best way to describe our accommodation) was spacious, romantic and cozy, with a fireplace that came in handy given the evening chill, and perfectly matched the magical forest atmosphere.
The next morning, the sun was shining, and we finally got to see the breathtaking views our terrace offered over the valley. It was a bit too chilly for our small private infinity pool (we visited Tsala in early spring), but it must be a real treat during the warmer summer months.
And although you feel as if you’re deep in the jungle, Plettenberg with its white sandy beaches is just around the corner — really nice!
The food at Tsala was really good, but the dinner on our second night at the sister restaurant, Zinzi, was simply outstanding — fine dining at its best.
One tip: make sure to take a walk through the entire Hunter estate. It’s truly a little piece of paradise on earth, maintained with care and love. (And don’t be surprised if you run into a deer or a monkey along the way!)
To the entire team who made our stay at this truly unique place perfect — THANK YOU! Simply nothing.

- ian1066_12 (10/5): 2 night stay on the garden route - Amazing stay for two nights with the family
Greeting was impeccable and so well conducted. The lodges are beautiful and a unique experience.
We eat in both restaurants and enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave. The grounds are stunning. Would highly recommend this location. Easy to find but still in a remote location. Close to the multiple activities in a stunning area.

The hotel location allows you to enjoy the night stars like no other place( except in the desert)
- Hussain (10/5): - From the moment I discovered Tsala Treetop Lodge nestled within the lush Garden Route, I knew it was special. Elevated walkways, stone architecture, and African-inspired design conjure a harmonious retreat that feels both secluded and indulgent.
Atmosphere & Setting
Surrounded by dense forests and just a short drive from Plettenberg Bay, Tsala offers the perfect balance of tranquility and adventure. The indigenous flora, ambient lighting, and woven wood-and-stone design blend seamlessly into the forest—creating an immersive, almost magical atmosphere. Nothing
- MariannaKatharina (10/5): Amazing - Tsala is in nature and these make very special - all is perfect! We like to come back - is amazing! Thank you!
- D1669TOahmedg (10/5): Don't miss this experience!! - I honestly don’t know where to begin… This hotel was recommended by my brother, and the entire experience felt like a piece of heaven—literally.
We arrived in the evening for our honeymoon, and from the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by one of the staff (nicknamed "the Hyena"—in a fun way!). I was immediately struck by how stunning the hotel is. I’ve never seen anything like it before, and I doubt I ever will again. Surrounded by trees and nature, each guest gets their own private (cabin), which made it even more magical.
We stayed for three nights. On the first night, we had dinner at Zinzi Restaurant. The food was not just delicious—it was art. Honestly, all the restaurants in this area seemed to follow that same high standard. And considering the quality, the prices were very reasonable.
During our stay, we taught some of the staff a few Arabic phrases—Marhaba, Kef halok (hello, how are you?), and Sabah alkhair (good morning). It was such a joyful and warm exchange. The staff were genuinely interested in learning, and it made the experience feel even more personal and fun.
When we returned to our cabin that night, we found a surprise gift from the hotel congratulating us on our honeymoon. That small gesture meant so much. They also respected our religion by removing all alcohol products from our room—a truly professional and thoughtful touch.
The next morning, we had breakfast at Tsala Restaurant. Let me tell you, the hospitality there felt like something only a mother could give—so warm, sincere, and attentive. They were open to feedback and truly cared about our experience. The breakfast itself was, of course, delicious, but the honey stood out—dipping bread into it was one of the tastiest moments of the trip.
One of the staff even taught us a word in South African—"Engooosi" (thank you)—and now it’s a word we’ll never forget. We also had dinner at Tsala later, and it was just as wonderful: flavorful food, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere.
On our final night, we had dinner at Hunter’s Restaurant, where they gave us a private VIP room with a special honeymoon menu. I will never forget that night. The service was exceptional. When I told the manager that my brother had stayed here for his honeymoon back in 2018 and still talks about it to this day, she gave me a gift to take back to him. That simple act said it all: they truly care.
In short, Tsala isn’t just a hotel. It’s a place that genuinely cares about its guests, its service, and its reputation. Thank you, Tsala. If I ever needed a reason to return to South Africa—you are one of the top reasons. See you, inshallah. 🙏

- Hisham (10/5): Ultimate privacy and a wonderful romantic atmosphere - My wife and I spent 3 incredible nights at Tsala Treetop Lodge for our honeymoon, and it was truly magical. From seamless check-in with welcoming drinks to the moment we left, our experience was flawless.
Our treetop suite was incredibly spacious with glorious views, day and night. We loved waking up to panoramic forest vistas from every room and enjoyed the private patio. Stargazing at night from our deck was astonishing. The cozy fireplace was perfect for chilly evenings. Our suite featured a comfortable living room, separate bedroom, and a luxurious bathroom with 2 sinks, a large shower, and a tub. There was even a private outdoor shower and a plunge pool, though the weather was cool for a swim.
Dining was great. The staff booked us a table at Zinzi Restaurant for our first night, which we thoroughly enjoyed. For our second night, they arranged a beautiful, romantic in-room dining experience for our honeymoon – candles and a lit fireplace were standout touches. a definite highlight!
We mainly relaxed in our room, but also enjoyed leisurely walks through the beautiful gardens, spotting cute animals and birds.
The staff were 10/10 – their attentiveness and personalized service made us feel incredibly special.
We highly recommend at least a 2-night stay to fully enjoy it; we wished we could've stayed 4, though 3 was wonderful! My only minor suggestion is a quick heads-up during check-in about housekeeping preferring to clean when guests are out for dinner. It led to a funny moment on our first night, but knowing beforehand would be helpful.
- J2865XJtraceyg (10/5): Magical - From the moment we drove in we knew this was going to be special! We stayed for a night on our drive along the garden route in May 2025. Tsala is magical, the treetop lodges are something out of dreams! The view, the plunge pool, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, the attention to detail, the luxury. Everything about Tsala was amazing, especially the staff who looked after us so well. One night was not enough!
- Christene (10/5): Magical, a bucket list adventure - Personal touches with the hand written notes, the friendliness of the staff, beautiful surroundings Nothing
- Sohib (10/5): Highly recommended, I will come back again and again. - Everything is more than my expectations Nothing
- Sohib (10/5): My stay was absolutely unforgettable, offering luxury, comfort, and exceptional service at every turn. - I absolutely loved everything about Tsala. The service was exceptional, the facilities were top-notch, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. The villa was luxurious and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was truly five-star. I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. Honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like about the property. Everything exceeded my expectations and made for a truly memorable stay.
- Monique (9/5): Superb - Our expectations were exceeded, from the warm welcome at reception to the thoughtful honeymoon surprises delivered to our room each day. Everything we could possibly need and more was provided in our room. The breakfast at the main lodge became a daily highlight we looked forward to. The team and management were intuitive and attentive throughout our stay.
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aamir (9/5): Superb -
- RamblingRambler (8/5): Lovely hotel, disappointing food - Tsala is a really scenic spot with a beautiful view over the surrounding forests. I liked my room (3) which was spacious, private and very cosy. The private plunge pool is a nice touch, but for me too cold to want to use it. One of my favourite things about my stay was that when I returned from dinner, they’d lit a fire for me as part of their turn down service - a really pleasant surprise!
The only reason I’m not rating it 5 stars is because I was pretty disappointed by dinner at Zinzi, and breakfast the following day. I’m also not sure Tsala is worth the considerable premium to Hunter’s (same owner and on the same grounds), which I walked around a bit and looks very charming.
If you stay at Tsala, don’t miss Robberg Nature reserve near Plettenberg Bay - it’s definitely worth the short drive to get there and offers some beautiful hikes.
- Z3665FIsuzanneh (10/5): Garden Route - Fabulous and Beautiful property on the Garden Route. A lodge overlooking the treetops with plunge pool to keep you cool. The lodges are so well kept and great space inside. Bathroom is huge. All the staff were so helpful. Food in hotel restaurant and Zinzi restaurant on the same property were lovely. Recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all.
- pipslat (10/5): fabulous - Couldn't fault our stay, fabulous room, fabulous food, fabulous setting and fabulous service - wishing we had stayed longer!
- Explorer09131535961 (10/5): Perfection and professionalism - From the moment we turned up everything was amazing. The front of house (Laula) was FABULOUS 👌🏾. Welcoming drinks, bookings and nothing being a problem was so refreshing. The room was beautiful, fresh flowers and AC on already. We had lunch in the garden restaurant and then a booked supper in Zinzi's where the staff were so accommodating and allowed us to to have a private dining experience down by the pond. It was brilliant from start to finish and having breakfast delivery to our room was just perfect 🥰. Thank you to everyone and especially the guys who cleaned our filthy 4x4 and those who drove us around in the golf buggy! Will 100% return and can't recommend this place enough. Professional is a major buzz word and perfect!
- K (10/5): Fabulous and beautiful property - the perfect place to unwind on the Garden Route. - We visited Tsala Treetop Lodge for our honeymoon and had a fabulous experience. We actually extended our stay an additional two nights because we loved the tranquility of the location. The treehouse rooms are beautifully furnished with a private pool and amazing views. The staff were incredible and we loved the food at both Tsala Treetop Lodge Restaurant and nearby Zinzi.

- Mandy (10/5): Great Hotel in the trees - you must visit - I have stayed at this hotel before and was hoping that my family would enjoy it as much as I did. They loved it. We booked a 2 bedroom suite and it didn't dissappoint. The room on stilts overlooking the trees, with amzing views of the forest, with and amazing bathroom and outside shower and your own plunge pool. There was everything you coul think of. The staff were so welcomming and very helpful. there was such a wide selection of choices for breakfast and excellently cooked. We ate at Zinzi restaurant which was a short walk away. - Manuela (10/5): Out of Africa film set! Totally beautiful - The property is stunning. The staff outstanding, every detail was perfect. Unforgettable stay!
- Julie (10/5): Amazing place - Everything about Tsala Treetop lodge is outstanding. We were upgraded to a villa as there was a problem with bees in our original suite. The restaurant was also excellent. The only thing that would make it perfect would be to heat up the pools.
- Susie (10/5): Perfect for honeymoon! - Loved the room, view, team were incredible! Nothing!
- sharonc232 (10/5): The most amazing experience ever. - This was truly an amazing experience. The lodge was simply exquisite the treetop views breath taking. I loved every single minute of our stay here and did not want to leave. The attention to detail was just amazing. We had dinner in Tsala and Zinzi, the food was fantastic. From the moment you arrive to a lovely welcome drink, guided down the path into the treetop reception, it’s like you’re in another world. Our tree top suite was phenomenal, incredible views, sumptuous bed, every amenity you can imagine with a fully stocked mini bar with fresh lemon etc. Sweets and a poem every night at turndown. Plunge pool is cute and the views are amazing.
Breakfast is delicious everything you could ask for and so much choice. We also had a packed lunch in our trip to Robberg nature reserve and the sandwiches were fantastic.
We used the gym at the hotel and ate at Kinzi which was lovely. I can’t speak highly enough about the staff they are just wonderful, this is a lovely slice of heaven and I would love to return.
- Vilma (9/5): Superb - Nothing
- avoidtheherd (10/5): Lovely stay for family of four - We had a fantastic visit to Tsala. The lodge was beautiful and comfortable with two separate bedrooms for our family of four. The staff was delightful and accommodating. We ate at zinzi and tsala and had two great meals. Really enjoyed the hotel and the serene environment. Highly recommend.
- Vlad (10/5): - Perfect
- 738mollyo (10/5): Heaven - By far the best stay I’ve ever had. The property, staff, rooms, decor, food , just absolute perfection. The team of staff were exceptional, going above and beyond to make an already beautiful stay into an unforgettable experience. I can’t think of a single thing that wasn’t 10/10. - vuuren1 (4/5): HUGE SPIDERS!! - The place was beautiful and the staff were lovely, however I have to give it a two as the amount of spiders were awful, me and my daughter had massive spiders in our room leading to us being kept up throughout the night. If u don’t like spiders, do not come here the spiders are bigger than your hand to put it into perspective!
- Molly (10/5): Perfection - By far the best stay I’ve had anywhere. The property, the rooms, the view, the decor, the staff, food, everything!
Down to the smallest details, from luxury toiletries and linen, to coming back from dinner with robes and slippers laid out on the bed with a handwritten poem and chocolates left to enjoy. The team of staff were exceptional, going above and beyond to make an already beautiful stay an unforgettable experience. I could not recommend this place more, and can’t think of a single thing that wasn’t 10/10. - Chasyj (10/5): Back to nature in luxurious accommodation - We weren't completely sure what to expect but we were both astonished by the design, outlook and luxury within this stunning place. The lodges are fully stacked with all the amenities you could need whilst maintaining a lodge 'feel'. The balconies are perfect to sit out on and admire the show nature puts on and we were so well looked after by all the staff who had a clear focus on customer satisfaction......with a smile. Lovely touch was arriving back at our lodge after dinner to find the fire being lit as it was starting to get a bit chilly. Despite the lower than expected temperature I did take the plunge in the lovely little infinity pool outside each of the lodges. All in all an opportunity to feel within all the blessings of nature in blissful comfort. Well done Tsala!
- Frederic3006 (10/5): Beautiful setting in the trees - Beautiful setting ! Gorgeous room with your private terrace overlooking the valley. Large sitting area and bedroom. In winter the fireplace is lit up at night: so cozy! Large bathroom and good shower. There is also an outdoor shower.
Absolutely perfect accommodation. Staff is wonderfully helpful
Breakfast is extremely good.

- brucew553 (10/5): Tsala - total relaxation - We had the most wonderful relaxing stay at Tsala. It was just ‘perfect’, from the welcome to the amazing suite we had and the fabulous food. Even after 24 hours we felt relaxed and refreshed. The peace and tranquility of this amazing hotel was second to none, we felt we had it all to ourselves. I can’t recommend enough.
- Charlie (10/5): Exceeded our expectations in so many ways - well done Tsala! - This is a special place! We had not expected the amount of thought and attention to detail given to the architecture overlooking the tree canopy and the presentation of the suites. the staff were all amazing and i regret to say I didn't pay enough attention to names but the young lady with the welcoming smile and the warm and wonderful sense of humour who showed us round on arrival was wonderful and such a joy to meet on arrival. Also the lady who lit such a wonderful fire in our room deserves a special mention. However it important to say that all the staff went out of their way to make our stay amazing, including a birthday surprise of cakes. This truly is a small piece of heaven of earth! Thank you oh dear! nothing! easy!
- Johann (10/5): Awesome - Loved the friendly and always helpful staff. Absolutely beautiful place. Nothing
