Guest Reviews
- Bezi (10/5): Good hotel - Good choice for a hotel. The rooms are all the same set on two floors the other side of the pool. The owner is super helpful and displays the flags of the countries of the guests on the reception area of the hotel. The shower was good and the room was nice and big. There is limited parking in a small lot but it is easy to park on the street.
The restaurant was only being used for breakfast when we were there, breakfast was fine with the normal fare of ham and cheese plus cake. Eggs can be ordered.
We enjoyed our time there, Futaleufu is a nice town and small enough to walk around. The hotel is on the edge of town and quiet at night.
The owner definitely makes the difference and I would happily stay there again.
- HenryDK95 (10/5): The best hotel in Futaleufú! - This is by far the best hotel in Futaleufú! The breakfast is incredible and the staff was amazing and so very helpful. I had an interview to do by video call and they went above and beyond to help make sure I was set up and make sure I was comfortable and taken care of throughout the day. I highly recommend this place because of the wonderful staff, beautiful atmosphere, delicious breakfast, great pool and more!
- Anne165 (10/5): Quiet but central location - Very accommodating staff who can speak English. Large traditionally decorated bedrooms, with warm and extremely comfortable beds. Bathroom has a small bath which was such a reward after a day out walking!
Quiet location on a Main Street so convenient for dining in the restaurant or walking into the village.
- valkyrie75014 (10/5): Green Patagonia Gem - Amazing hotel in the middle of the mountains of green Patagonia. Beautiful setting amidst warm folks, great food, and spectacular scenery. My family and I enjoyed our stay here even though we came in off season, the hikes and sights were perfect. We highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back for rafting season. A true - one of a kind - oasis in the mountains!
- Great_Western (10/5): Thank you for our perfect stay! - From the moment we arrived Geraldo made us feel so welcome as he placed our national flag on the counter to join the Danish and Chilean flags of the other guests! A lovely personal touch.
Nothing can be faulted about this place. The meals were so good we ate in both nights we stayed. (The restaurant was popular with locals - always a good sign). The room was lovely and had a huge comfy bed and looked out over the courtyard with swimming pool which Geraldo kept in immaculate condition.
Geraldo also gave us excellent advice on whitewater rafting which we knew Futaleufu is famed for. He arranged for a local expert to come around that evening to explain what was involved so we could decide whether or not to do it. (We were so glad we did - it was amazing.) He also suggested day hikes nearby. Geraldo's apologized that they couldn't arrange for our laundry so rang the local lavanderia who did it for us at an incredibly low cost.
In short, you simply can't go wrong staying here. Thank you El Barranco for a great stay!

- CarolynLumb (10/5): Fantastic, friendly and refined - We loved El Barranco. The staff was incredible, the food delicious and the room warm and inviting. They went beyond the call of duty to help us find a laundry service in town and truly made us feel so welcome and taken care of during our stay.
- Amy92024 (10/5): Fabulous - This is a lovely hotel and the couple who own/manage the property are so kind and thoughtful. Highly recommend this location. The town is lovely as well. Hearty breakfasts and dinner is also tasty. They will help with activities in the area too.
- 573richardv (10/5): Splendid - Angelo and Gerardo could not have been more helpful in this very comfortable hotel, which is conveniently placed in the village, They arranged our short trip by car into Argentina to visit a vineyard, tulip fields and a lake with flamingos, and gave advice for scenic hikes, Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The 4 of us were not up for white water rafting, but were so pleased to have made the detour to this beautiful area, and to enjoy the spectacle of both rivers. The hotel is a splendid base from which to explore.
- andrieskuil (6/5): A good average hotel - A good average hotel at affordable price.
The reception and the service by the employees is good.
Limited breakfast, you have to pay for the coffee of average quality.
Virtually no WiFi in the room and poor WiFi reception in the restaurant.
The menu in the restaurant is very extensive with excellent dishes and fresh products.
- Arie5111 (10/5): Excelente hotel!!! - We spent only one night in this amazing place and fall in love! We love the room, the garden , the lobby, the dinner and breakfast. The treat and food was great. The couple that owns and manage the hotel are charming. Great place to stay !!!
- 122wendyp (10/5): Beautiful Gem - We had a wonderful experience with Hotel El Barranco. We were greeted warmly and the room was really cool and rustic looking. Comfortable beds, clean and well maintained. The dinner was delicious and the staff was lovely. We were sad we only go to stay one night on a tour but would definitely recommend this great little homey place.
- Tipishca (10/5): Quiet, comfortable, quirky, lovely staff, super food - A lovely friendly welcome and then shown to our room which, initially, made me think of the Flintstones! Very quirky, but spacious and with 2 super large comfy beds and so so quiet. Excellent meal in the restaurant too.
- Diana014 (10/5): Delightful, comfortable, rustic hotel - We enjoyed our stay here.
The rooms are cosy, clean and comfortable.
The owners and staff are delightful - so friendly and helpful.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere and serves very good food.
Futaleufu is a delightful place and there are some beautiful walks in the national park if you don't want to do water based activities.
- svletas (10/5): By far the best place to stay in Futa, or in the region in general for that matter - El Barranco is one of those special places that surprise you, like an oasis in the desert, amazing, unexpectedly delightful, and welcoming in every way. And the credit goes to the owners Gerardo and Angela who couldn't be more gracious hosts. Angela checked us in and as we talked we found out we had a number of friends in common (we were in the area fly fishing, and the fly fishing world is small). Then Gerardo joined us and it was like we'd been reunited with old friends. If you want the best service in a hotel, and in a restaurants, this is the place. Rooms are very nice, comfortable beds, plush comforters and pillows, nice little desk if you need to set up your laptop, and bathrooms have all the amenities you need. Swimming pool in the central courtyard plus a sauna, both great after a long day of fishing. So back to the restaurant; not need to go out as this is the best restaurant in the area. Great menu with a variety of seafood and beef, but if you have something in mind, a special way to prepare something, Gerardo will see to it. Merluza and Congrio were fantastic, same for the steaks. And Breakfast buffet in the morning is ready early, or you can custom order the breakfast you want. So....if you're in this area fishing, kayaking, biking, whatever, and you want an "oasis" to relax in, this is the place.
