Guest Reviews
- Brian (10/5): Demi Lune is a wee gem - Great house and lovely welcoming couple. Cracking breakfast too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to the centre - Peter and his wife, were very welcoming.
Entrance was a wonderful, as was the breakfast room, but that is were it stopped, the room was a disappointing and the step up to the bathroom was a hazard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely people good location - Delightful owners who make you feel very welcome. Relaxed style and friendly service made for a great stay. Also local family steeped in the history of Ypres. Ask about the two gentlemen in the photo in the breakfast room.
- geoff (10/5): - Ypres is a hidden gem and full of history
Delightful B and B and a very engaging host, Peter
- Robert (10/5): Gret stay. - Friendly and helpful hosts, lovely breakfast and convenient location
- mr andrew (10/5): - We visited Ypres for 100 years comemeration of the wall of my grandfather.
- James F (10/5): A real gem. - Wonderful B&B, great location with a gracious host.
- hugh (8/5): very friendly, accommodating staff - staff organised our visit to war graves keen to meet our every wish
- Verified traveler (10/5): Top-notch B&B - Conveniently located, and Pieter is a delightful host and master of scrambled eggs. A great place to stay.
- Jeremy (10/5): Ride to the wall - Brilliant
- Hannah (10/5): - Peter, our host, was wonderful and very accommodating. Had a fantastic stay and highly recommend accommodation. Short walk to main town square.
- Donald (10/5): Almost perfect! - The en-suite facilities are actually a section of the room that is partially, but not fully, screened from view.
- on the go again (6/5): - The owners were very pleasant and helpful and breakfast was very good. However, our room (103) had a strange configuration in that there was no door or ceiling on the bathroom just a partition and so there is no privacy when using the toilet facilities. The room itself was very large. There were no luggage racks so it was the floor or the chairs. Little things like no tissues in the room, a tiny bar of soap, one pillow per person and WiFi seeming only to work in the dining room were all somewhat annoying. There is also only a small sign in the window to identify the property so unless you are using a GPS it can be hard to find.
- Martin (10/5): Great weekend - Stayed here as part of a weekend away in Ypres. Perfect positioning to the town centre literally a few minute walk. Owner was fantastic and very welcoming. Breakfast was superb. One of the best places we have stayed at in Ypres
- Edward (10/5): Wonderful place to stay in Ieper. - We arrived in Ieper a day earlier and had to stay outside of town. We got a taxi and checked in around noon the next day, and we were happy to see how large and nice our room was and the beauty of the B&B. After coming back later in the day the host informed us that the previous hotel had called him to tell us that we had left a bag, which he drove over and got for us. That is the type of service we received during our stay. Also, the breakfast was great!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly and knowledgable staff, who made us extremely welcome. Easy parking close to Eiper City Centre.
- jm (10/5): Great pick - Lovely bnb very close to centre. Nice big room and outdoor garden for use. Went to the effort to provide breakfast for dietary requirements. On a reasonably quiet street but not very soundproof so you do hear the odd bus in the morning. Highly recommend
- Amy (10/5): - friendly and knowledgeable host and hostess, lovely family feel
- Fiona (10/5): First time at a B&B - Greet and Peter were lovely and very helpful. Nice to stay somewhere with history and very convenient.
- Peter (8/5): Great visit - We enjoyed our short stay at Demi Lune. Peter and Greet are certainly wonderful hosts who go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The Guest house is also superbly situated and the city is a must to visit. Some might be slightly off-put by the 'open plan' ensuite bathroom we had but the whole package is generally of a high standard and great value.
- Steven (8/5): Great Stay - The owners are really nice people, and helpful. They let my kids play in their garden, I felt as if I was staying at a friends house more than a hotel. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the center of town. An overall great stay.
- matt (10/5): Friendly B&B - Wifi only worked in room sometimes otherwise very good B&B, clean friendly and close to centre
- Verified traveler (10/5): very nice clean hotel - very good experience close to town and museums and menin gate we took a short drive around going to war graves including tyne cott cemetery and other museums
- Daniel (10/5): Definitely recommend. - Excellent family run establishment. Peter and Greet were gracious and welcoming hosts. In a slightly less picturesque part of town, but only a 1/2 mile walk to the town square, not far at all. Outstanding breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Rooms facing Diksmuidestraat a bit noisy at night from street traffic (heavier curtains would help a lot), but comfortable and clean. Definitely perfect for single or couple, families and friends sharing a room might have a problem with the bathroom facilities not having a door.
- joner (8/5): clean comfortable and very friendly - peter and greet were friendly helpful and provided a lovely buffet breakfast good chat and great advice on the local area.
- Susan and Keith (10/5): We were lucky - It was what we were looking for and more. Peter and Greet were great. Nice room, quiet area, close to market. Lovely house, breakfast was great. We would definitely go back. Hopefully soon.
- Jacquie (10/5): Great location in lovely town - Had no idea Ypres/Ieper was so beautiful. Hotel ideal for free parking and quick walk to main square. Owner so very helpful in every way. Certainly would stay there again.
- Michel (8/5): Lovely B&B except for odd toilet arrangement - This is a delightful B&B - very well restored and within walking distance of the centre of Ypres and the Menin Memorial Arch. One fly in the ointment is the modern bathroom that is not separated from the remainder of the room. The shower has a cloudy glass door ensuring privacy but to have toilet privacy you have to go downstairs and use the toilet near the breakfast room. This needs to be put in their promotional material on the website
- D Relph (10/5): Excellent, friendly service. - Very happy with everything in the hotel. would use again and recommend.
- Mike (10/5): - Fantastic spot. Stayed two nights and I didn't want to leave. Friendly owner, very helpful.
- rod (8/5): Good B&B close to main square. - My friends and I have planned this trip for a while now and are all more than happy we did it. The Demi Lune was a real bonus, very close to the main square where we ate both nights. Two minute walk to the pub, the Oliphant, very good. The owners Peter and Greet are very good hosts and we will have no hesitation of staying there again.
The Flanders Museum and Menin Gate are within walking distance. The area is steeped in history, with battlefields and memorials all within reasonable driving distance.
We are going again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location, Delayed check in, poor standard dec - This was disappointing. We booked this hotel several weeks ago and a few days before our stay we were told that we could not check in until 630pm by email, There were not many other options in Ypres so we really had no choice but to stay here. The hotel was closed until the owner arrived at 640pm. Other guests were waiting on the door step who had not received the email. The rooms were clean and basic but the condition was quite poor with ill fitting flooring and some bare wires by one of the rooms.
- K & S Pocock (10/5): Ypers stay - Peter was a terrific host. The room was comfortable, clean and airy. It is located about a 1o minute walk to the main square and the In Flanders Field Museum. Lots of great eating places nearby as is the Menin Gate. Great breakfast as well
- shannon/sam (10/5): 4 day break - Everything about the hotel was lovely, the staff were lovely and friendly and it was in a great location just 5 minutes from the centre of town.
- Alan (8/5): - Great venue, welcome.locatiion, breakfast. Toilet arrangements not for everyone
- Judith (10/5): Wonderful and friendly - My daughter and I stayed for two nights, we were made extremely welcome even when we turned up two and a half hours early. The breakfast gave a wonderful choice. The room we had was large light and airy. We will be returning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice atmosphere: nice patio for dinner/drinks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A excellent b and b - Peter and Greet are very welcoming and have a well presented B and B,rooms are comfortable and have everything you need, and breakfast is good too.
- allen (10/5): Excellent stay - Only an overnight stay but really welcomed and looked after and a great location for visiting the area
- kerrieo (8/5): Great location good hosts - This was our only choice for accommodation in the city centre, as our stay coincided with the tour de France start and all hotels were booked. Saying that and my general aversion to b& bs I have to say it was the best b& b I'd been in. The hotel was 5 mins walk to the grote market and 10 mins to Menin gate. The hosts Peter and Greet were exceptional with their hospitality even letting us have early check in. The room had tea making facilities amd was furnished with the bare basics although very clean. The breakfast was very good and fresh.
Cons: I couldn't handle the open concept bathroom! It's probably a cultural thing but I like privacy when I do my business. The room was 2 flights up so may not suit older couples carrying large bags. Parking was limited if non existent. We caught the train and walked from the station.
- Josh (10/5): Great B&B with friendly owners. - Upon arrival we were greeted by the B&B owner who was friendly and spoke excellent English and happily brought us up to speed on what we could see and do in Ypres. The reception area was well stocked with brochures and books of a historical bent. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The facilities were excellent - good dining room, Hoegaarden available in the mini bar (a massive boon AFAIC!) good Wi-Fi and a nice outdoor area. Though the B&B has no on-site parking, there was ample free parking on an adjacent street. Breakfast was great, no complaints!
- Bill (10/5): Delightful B&B in Ypres - Lovely building with large rooms very nicely decorated. The owners are very friendly and helpful with advice about local sights. Superb garden for sitting out and easy walking access to the central sights of Ypres. Highly recommend!
- Brendan (10/5): Excellent B & B close to the centre of Ypres. - Excellent in all respects. To be nightly it would be nice if there was wi-fi throughout (hence 4 for facilities) but otherwise can't be faulted. Helpful and welcoming owners.
- Tom Eden (10/5): Great stay at a comfy inn with exceptional hosts. - One of the best places I've stayed at in quite some time. Large room, great breakfast, located just steps from most historic landmarks. If you are looking for a home base for a World War One themed visit, this is the place for you!
- bargain hunter (8/5): Nice hotel close to the centre - Peter and his wife are very welcoming and full of information. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed very comfortable. Plenty of choice at breakfast to set you up for the day and a hot option was a pleasant surprise. It is an easy walk to the centre and plenty of free parking nearby if needed. The only negative was the road noise if you have a front facing bedroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): B&B Demi Lune - We stayed there last week, the owners were extremely courteous and friendly and warmly welcomed us into their home. We did find it rather odd that the en-suite facilities were not completely separated by a door, or indeed the top 3rd of the walls, our room was on the front of the building and we found the traffic a bit noisy as the road is cobbled. However these are the only 2 minor negatives about Demi Lune. Breakfast was superb, there was an extensive library in various languages telling the story of Ypres and WW1 and WW2. The gardens were beautiful and fully enclosed. We can recommend Demi Lune..........very good value for money............Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
- Stephanie (10/5): Great B & B near Ieper own centre - Welcoming owner who was very informative about the area and willing to be flexible about looking after luggage etc for us. Lovely Breakfast
- Pete (10/5): Very Pleasing stay - Peter is so helpful it seems nothing is too much bother for him. It is a very central location, just 5 mins walk to Grote Markt (the main square). The bathrooms are a bit of a shock as they are open plan(ish) but not a problem. I would highly recommend a stay here.
- Graham (10/5): Great family run b+b close to town centre - Lovely owners. Good breakfast. Very convenient location. Would certainly stay there again.
- Karen (10/5): A truly exceptional B & B - Greet and Peter were brilliant hosts - extremely helpful and thoughtful while not being intrusive. They helped us get to the see a relatives' WW1 grave, organizing the taxi and doing extra research for us. They also looked after my friend who was on crutches, greatly helping her out by giving her ice packs. Superb breakfast too - fresh range eggs from their hens - amazing since the B &B was 5 minutes from town. One of the best places I have ever stayed - great hospitality and comfort, central location, and value for money.
