Guest Reviews
- Ann (8/5): Nice property but be prepared to drive into town if you are on a restricted diet - Nice property. Ski facilities are good if that is your goal. No elevator created difficulty because I have difficulty with stairs. They were able to find me a room on the main floor after I told them that. The dining facilities kept short hours and had limited options. My husband is a vegan and the breakfast buffet was heavy on egg and meat dishes, there was no option to order à la carte so we went into town and got great meals at a much better price.
- Paul (10/5): Great weekend, beautiful views, lots to do - All the activities available! Chair lift was quite expensive
- Geraldine (8/5): - Cleanliness and Staff.
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Marlene (9/5): -
- Carolyn (9/5): -
- Lisa (5/5): Disappointing, old property - It was nice to have attractions onsite. The hotel is old and the property not well-maintained. There was an odor in the hotel, an old grainy TV with only a handful of channels, and a low to moderate cleanliness level.
- terry (6/5): - A unique stay. Away from the city Breakfast should have been part of the stay. Advertising about room rates was misleading when we asked staff. Disappointing The beds were hard as a rock.
- Buroc (10/5): Agradable y relajante ❤️😌 - La Paz que se siente. Un poco la atención de las meseras, aunque no fueron todas.
- Helder (6/5): -
- Rebecca (3/5): I had not been there for 30 plus years and can't say much had changed, which is the problem! - Really the only thing I liked was the location as it is very convenient for people skiing. No elevator
- Eduardo (10/5): - The staff is amazing
- Rosa (1/5): I didn’t stay. We did not even proceded to check in. The staff was SO BEYOND RUDE. We left and booked another hotel. - Nothing. The lady at the desk was rude from the beginning. She said she couldn’t grant any request regarding the room because we had booked through a third party. When we inquired if they had facilities for sledding she said no. Then she asked us if we had brought sleds with us. We told her that we had brought ours and we had them in the car. I was expecting that she was kindly going to suggest another place where we could use them but instead, she demanded that we took them down from the car and brought them to the front desk to put a sticker on them so that other people knew that they were not allowed. She threatened to call security to get them OUT OF OUR CAR if I didn’t bring them, because, otherwise they would have no other way to know when we tried to ‘sneak them in’. It was Christmas Day!!! We had driven four hours, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing getaway, instead we got the rudest experience we’ve ever had at a check in desk. We travel extensively both national and international. We’ve never been treated like this. And it was not only the lady at the front desk. The other two people there (one of themI presumed was the manager) watched the whole thing and said nothing. After I spoke to booking, I went back to let them know that we were not staying and that booking would be contacting them directly. They did not apologize. They only said “ok”. I just received a notification from booking that they reached out and received no answer. The management at this place is horrible. I should have read the terrible reviews they had before booking it. When we first got in we also saw the menu at their restaurant. So incredibly overpriced. Place looks very dated. We did not go into any room but looked at pictures from other guests. They looked filthy. We are used to staying at Hyatt Regencies, Marriots and Hiltons. This was a very poor “resort”. I am glad we did not stay.
- Ping (5/5): Not going back - Location It needs a serious upgrade
- Josue (8/5): Nice place - Location The room is simple
- Titawaty (8/5): Ok for weekend gate away - Quite remote area and beautiful view of the hill in the fall A little high price but it is Galena after all. The only thing open at the resort to do was mini golf but there were a lot of fallen leaves so impossible to play and the mini golf area is also small
- john (10/5): - Love coming here.i come every year.i love the heated pool and hot tub.the slide is awesome also .
- Elizabeth (4/5): Gorgeous views, only go when attractions are open, not worth it to go just for the hotel room. - Location All attractions were already closed for the season, room and facilities were older and more worn in than expected. Carpeted stairwell by the vending machines had an awful smell.
- Leen (5/5): Not worth what I paid - View was pretty All amenities were closed except pool
Lame mini gold
Lame game room
Unclean carpeting on walls and floors in hall
Over priced for dated place with out amenities operating
- Tiffany (9/5): -
- Jarette (8/5): -
- Hartter (7/5): - The staff was very friendly. Food was very good. Very comfortable beds and nice hot water. I believe there was mold in crevice in ceiling. Needs to be cleaned.
- Kathy (9/5): -
- Lizbeth (6/5): Ok - The views and bartenders. No elevator. Front desk staff needs a refresh. Ornery white women!
- Caryn (10/5): - Some of the things are a little worn down/dated but it’s a good value and clean! My one thing is that the bathroom sinks are super low. I’m tall and i knealt to brush my teeth
- Mike (9/5): Great stay with amazing views - Resort as a whole was clean. Room was basic, but clean and roomy enough. Restaurant had a good sizex lunch and dinner menu and a decent breakfast one as well. We both enjoyed our dinner and had a great view of the sunset from our table. The desserts were amazing. We didn't partake in any of the activities, but there were amazing views throughout the ski slopes. The pool and hot tub were both clean as was the sauna. The road to the resort was quite dark at night, but it does lend to the secluded feel. The staff at the desk were all amazing An elevator would have been nice, but we understand that it's just not possible with older buildings. USB ports for modern cell phones would be a welcome upgrade to the rooms. There was a $125 hold that wasn't mentioned on their website or Booking com that wasn't a big deal(it could be used for dining, activities, or completely refunded after the stay if there was still a balance left), but it would have been nice to be made aware in advance. Again, not a big deal for us but might be useful information for someone else.
- stacy (8/5): - Great location. Nice place to stay. Best part of my trip was staying here.
- Terry (10/5): - Clean room. friendly staff. and was quiet.
A really nice view!!
- Justin (8/5): Ups and Downs - When we were in our original room (322), we had wasps on the window on the inside of the room which was a real downer so I requested a new room and we got moved to Room 329 which was a lot better.
The beds could've been better but the overall stay was a 3.5/5 star.
- Amy (10/5): - The views on the back deck are amazing
- Dolores (10/5): - N/a
- kenneth t (10/5): - view of the river is awsome
- Beata (8/5): Overall great stay - First trip to Galena end of September. Didn’t realize that the hotel was a bit further out from the main downtown restaurants and shops. Overall a good experience, hotels is a bit dated in some areas but some of the rooms are a bit updated. No elevator in the hotel and WiFi and phone service were a bit shotty. Beautifully decorated for fall. Great views, lots to do at the hotel. We did the Alpine slide and soaring eagle
- Stacey (10/5): - Nice
- Luis (6/5): - They had a bucket catching water from a ceiling leak in the ski room/locker room.
The amenities as far as the slide & ski lift are only avaliable on Saturday and Sunday which is ridiculous i dont know how they can call themselves a resort
- Lisa (8/5): - Things i liked: The room was extremely clean. The pillows were soft. The staff were extremely nice. The resort had incredible views. I like that its secluded & quiet.
Things i didnt like. They have no elevator. We were floors up & had to bring up our luggage. The bedrooms & bathrooms were extremely dated however extremely clean.
- Daza (10/5): -
- Lisa (6/5): - Convenient with onsite activities for various interests. Facilities need major update.
- Renee (10/5): - We had a very nice time we love it there will definitely come back just nice walking around and seeing the scenery
- Traci (4/5): - Floor needed to be vacuumed, tv didn't come in clear. Beds uncomfortable, no decent toiletries. Overall, would not stay here again.
- Gene and Sharlene (10/5): - Liked the activities and the fact itsout in the middle of nowhere.
- mark (2/5): - No elevator have to carry luggage upstairs . Carpet through out resort is disgustingly filthy . Hallways smell of nasty carpet ! Coffee in lobby horrible . Bed had no fitted sheet had a flat sheet talked in exposing a worn out. Disgusting mattress pad . Sink was very low for like a small child along with the toilet just not a very pleasant day. Employees were fine and working hard, but obviously the place was in a shambles and nothing they can do to fix it even though they were cleaning best, they could all dirt on top of older dirt . If you plan on commuting from town back to resort at night, it’s a very dangerous dark winding road beware.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Don’t bother coming here unless you’re a huge fan of skiing. - The pool was warmer than expected. Leaky toilet, uncaring and misinformed staff, old old old outdated floors, walls and everything.
- Steve (6/5): - The staff was great. The room would have been fine without the flies inside.
- Monsoon (6/5): - It is located at good spot with friendly staffs. They did not update on Google about their opening hours and stuff due to which we could do much activity because most of them were closed for the season and we didn’t know about it. Room was not so clean.
- Lisa (4/5): - Property needs to be updated. The scenery is beautiful but the hotel itself is extremely dated and run down. For the price you pay, more things should be included.
- Etta Marie Maidak (6/5): Our Anniversary Get Away - Well! first ! Even Tho it was family owned; they should had help with our/guest luggage.. And! OH! My The Beds felt like there was a body in the mattress itself! had to lay on one side of the other or you roll one way or the other... OH! my The Sheer curtains on the window, well they were also shredded, torn at where they closed at... But! The plus side! Their restaurant was very good the food, service... The Outside Events were really really fun! Would go back for all they had going ... Outside
- Tracy (10/5): Nice hotel with beautiful views, adequate rooms and ok food choices. - We loved the grounds, it is so beautiful there. We really had a great time. The location is perfect, and the staff was very nice. Our room was a little small and the view wasn't so great. I also wish there were more food options. Dinner at the Summit was ok, the service could have been better. Breakfast was better.
- Daniel (8/5): - It was quiet
- Nick (10/5): - Everything was great in this resort, coming back next year
- DANIEL (10/5): -
- Tirunelveli (10/5): - We went in August. The alpine slide, zipline, mountain biking are all right outside the property. We bought the tickets at the property itself (not upfront online). There wasn’t much difference between the onsite price and the online price. Monday through Thursday, they have an unlimited alpine slide pass, which would be nice to get if you are there during those days of the week.
I know some people have commented that this property “badly needs renovation”. I don’t necessarily agree with that. Yes, the walls and the hallway carpets are of old design (shades of dark brown), but except for one small area of the stairs, I did not notice any worn out carpets or walls.
There is no elevator in the property. This was not a problem for us, but could be a problem for some. But the stairs are easy to climb, though.
There is a Tesla destination charger on site, which was very helpful for us.
- Kalkeyliuss (6/5): - Property was in much need of updating! Everything smells OLD. We stayed in the “premium” room. Aside from the nice view of the river, the room was very basic. Very small television that offered no channels at all. Luckily, I travel with my FireStick to help entertain my kid. The breakfast is overpriced for what you receive. Staff was friendly and polite!
- Augustine (2/5): - It was a strong urine odor in the hallway, the room was extra small for a family of four, no proper ventilation in the room
- Lauer (8/5): - Very nice setting pricing on activities posted would have been nice.
- Miguel (10/5): - Beautiful resort, helped me with last minute booking and everything went smoothly
- Becky (10/5): - This is a great property. Although this stay was only for one night to celebrate our sons birthday, it offered a great location to access amenities that we love in Galena, while also offering wonderful on site activities for us to fill up our day of celebrating with. Staff was friendly, food was good, room was clean, and beds were comfy. 10/10.
- Verified traveler (6/5): N - Really beautiful views and fun activities for families.
Zip line, alpine slide and bike trails look like fun.
Charming old fashioned decor. Our room has issues with toilet and air conditioning making floor soaking wet.
- Hardik (10/5): - Should have elevator
- MARIA (4/5): - Place is definitely very very outdated when you walk in you get an old people home mixed w humidity smell. Hotel is very very outdated. The pull out bed mattress had holes and springs sticking out could not use it. I would not recommend.
- Denise (8/5): -
- Gina (8/5): - Room was clean. Beds comfy. Pool and hot tub were nice! Restaurant food was okay. A little pricey but you do get good portions and it is convenient. We did the alpine slide that was fun!! Mini golf was good too. Beautiful views of the river. Charming place. Has a small arcade in the basement. Only drawback if you stay on upper floors is that there is no elevator.
- Justin (8/5): - They have a lot of summer activities on the property which make for a great getaway. Close to Galena as well for shopping, history, and restaurants.
The only two issues with the property are that it is a little old and has some wear in areas, but really not a big deal. The major issue my wife and I had were the comfort of the beds and pillows though, we just couldn't really get a good nights sleep.
We won't be returning because of that, but I think it's kind of a subjective thing and others may not have that experience.
- Jayesh (7/5): Good -
- Michael (10/5): - Beautiful views and scenery.
- Melissa (8/5): - Breakfast, lunch and dinner was amazing
- Jacinth Glo (8/5): - Nice. Good for families and friends. Nice view and lots of activities to do. Thumbs up!
- Robert (10/5): - No exercise room. Game room needs something different, like a pool table.
- Lisa (8/5): Beautiful property - Excellent staff! Very friendly. The views were wonderful. There is no elevator. I missed that when reserving my room. Lots to do on property. The hotel is showing age and could use an update.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): - Nice resort, aged, no elevator. Basic but all you need if you want to be active and out doors.
- Dan (10/5): - Friendly , accommodating and helpful staff. Great food and service. Excellent ambiance and comfortable atmosphere . Will be back again and soon!
- Gerald (10/5): Exceptional - Outdoor activities, restaurant/bar, pool, hot tub,
scenic river view secluded location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Weekend Trip For 2 - The place was a bit dated, carpets were a bit rough, but if you’re not super picky and just looking for a great place to take your family or significant other to spend quality time this is a great spot. Pool is deep and indoors which is great. The outdoor slide 100% is as fun as it looks. Gf and I enjoyed the Eagle ride too. Our upgraded room was spacious. I wish I knew about the $150 or so hold that the hotel puts on your card at check in, but I do like that they let you credit it toward their restaurants and other services they offer.
The dinner restaurant on premise is overpriced in my opinion, breakfast and lunch are priced well through. Keep in mind for all of this that we went during the summer and the resort is aimed for winter guests I’m assuming.
- Marilyn (10/5): - It was a relaxing and charming place for the entire family. They are operational all year round.Their restaurant offered delicious foods and overlooking an awesome view of the Mississippi River. Their staffs are friendly and accommodating. Though they don’t have elevators, it’s not too bad coz their stairs are short and easy to climb. They have a decent-sized pool with dry sauna and hot tub. A great relaxation spot indeed! Outside they have a great scenery for walking, mini Golf course. And for adventure seekers,Skiing (winter Season), the Ski Lift, Alpine Slide and the Soaring Eagle zipline.
- Melissa (10/5): - Great place
- Claudio e (2/5): - No bueno
- Sonia (9/5): Superb -
- Leese (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rohit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (7/5): nice location, need to get all rides and activites ready for use - nice views, food was good, pool was nice with hot tub only cable eagle ride was working. nothing else was working.no sag ways,no boat rides, chairlifts not working.minnie golf was closed for repairs,,we were ready they where still repairing.
- Agarwal (9/5): Superb -
- Canaday (9/5): Superb -
- Farida (8/5): - When reserve from expedia it said free breakfast. Not true, and it is disappointing, musleading information. Over than that the place is great.
- Carrie (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): Quiet summer getaway! - Beautiful view. Great restaurant. Fun activities. Small pool towels. Bad internet/tv service.
- Michelle (5/5): Passable - Beautiful location overlooking the river No elevator, the building is out dated
Our air conditioning was not running the first night, the second day they replaced it and that one was stuck on and not adjustable
- Coffman (10/5): Nice stay high over the Mississippi. - Beautiful location. Nice restaurant and bar. Plenty of activities to enjoy. Nice pool and hot tub. Rooms were dated but everything was clean. I felt it was reasonably priced for the busy weekend we chose to visit. I really don't have a complaint. it is what it is, it is dated but the beds were comfortable, sheets and linens were clean. I guess I really don't have any complaints.
- May (10/5): - Nice hotel and Beautiful sunset
- Busch (8/5): Fun family time! - The breakfast was good, I wish there was more fruit. The attractions were fun and it was a wonderful view. The alpine slide was so fun and riding up the ski lift was great. The Zipline was awesome, and we got a great view and it wasn't scary at all, even if it looks intimidating. The segue ways were so fun and it was worth doing. The website was very confusing, and it was hard to know how to get tickets and what was open or available. It would be great if things were posted clearly so we could plan our days and whole trip better.
- Richard (4/5): - It is outdated.
No elevator.
Got a premier room- don’t bother- old and dirty- view was another roof.
Would not return.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful resort. Looking forward to returning in the future.
- Rhonda (10/5): It was a great overnight stay. We did not get in the pool but it looked super clean and the hot tub was a large one Wi - We were able to go for walks on the trails. Watched everyone playing disc golf, using the alpine slide, the boomerang and other sports, even young children rolling down the hills. Nothing
- Mitul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gloria (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the scenery. The location was excellent. And very quiet. Add tea bags to the room. Not all guests are coffee drinkers
- Kothari (8/5): Very good -
- Jessalyn (10/5): Exceptional - Scenery was beautiful! Hiking was great. Summit restaurant very good and good service. No elevator but it's ok we were not disabled
