• Noémie (10/5): FANTASTISCH! - Alleen maar lof: van hartelijk ontvangst, tot welkomsdrankje, prachtig domein, prachtige kamer, service die ongezien is.... Dit was het beste hotel tijdens onze vakantie (5 hotels gedaan) en wij komen ABSOLUUT terug! Iedere avond werd onze haard aangemaakt, iedere avond kregen wij een koekje, snoepje,... naast het bed, er was een welkomsfles voorzien en tijdens een koude avond kregen wij zelfs een warmwaterkruik in bed, ... wat een absolute verwennerij! Er werd ook aan alles gedacht: een grote lamp in de kamer om 's avonds op het domein rond te lopen, muggenspray in de kamer en reservaties in de restaurants die al gemaakt werden. Dit hotel en de service overtroffen onze verwachtingen, zeker voor de prijs die we betaald hebben!!!
• Jessica (10/5): It was wonderfull - The staff was amazing, we made it here during a great storm & weather warning and the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable right away. We only noticed, how bad the situation was, when we left again, saw all the fallen trees and heard from other hotels that they didn't have power for three days. • Companion10407156751 (4/5): تجربه غير جيده - اعتمدت في حجزي على التقييمات العالية والصور، لكن الواقع كان مختلفًا تمامًا. توقعت منتجعًا فاخرًا متكامل الخدمات، بينما المكان أقرب لنُزل منعزل داخل غابة، عبارة عن أكواخ بأثاث كلاسيكي قديم ومتهالك نسبيًا، والمظهر لا يشبه الصور. الفطور محدود جدًا خاصة للمسلمين، والمطاعم لا تستقبل حجز بعد الساعة 8 مساءً . وصلنا الساعة 8:30 مساءً بعد رحلة طويلة (6 ساعات) ولم نتمكن من تناول العشاء، واقتصر الخيار على خدمة الغرف. لا توجد أي أنشطة بعد المغرب، والأجواء ليلًا مظلمة ومخيفة خصوصًا مع الطقس السيئ؛ عشنا عاصفة قوية ولم نستطع النوم بسبب صوت الرياح والمطر. قد يكون توقيت زيارتنا (نهاية أبريل) سببًا إضافيًا، حيث شعرنا أحيانًا أننا النزلاء الوحيدون. كما أن الحشرات منتشرة، وقد لا يناسب المكان من يخاف منها. المكان مناسب لمن يبحث عن العزلة والهدوء والبساطة، لكنه لم يناسبني. أنصح بالاكتفاء بليلتين كحد أقصى والاستمتاع به نهارًا. حجزنا كان 5 ليالٍ وغادرنا بعد 3.وهذه اول مره اخرج من فندق قبل انتهاء المده بالرغم من سفري الكثير الإيجابية: الموظفون لطفاء ومتعاونون جدًا واستجابوا لطلب تغيير الغرفة. شكر خاص للسيد باتريك على تعاونه. بشكل عام، لم تكن تجربة موفقة بالنسبة لي ‏I based my booking on the high ratings and photos, but the reality was completely different. I expected a luxurious, full-service resort, but the place felt more like a secluded lodge in the forest, consisting of cabins with old, somewhat worn classic furniture. The overall appearance did not match the photos. ‏Breakfast options were very limited, especially for Muslims, and the restaurants do not accept bookings after 8 PM. We arrived at 8:30 PM after a long 6-hour journey and were unable to have dinner, with room service being the only option. ‏There are no activities after sunset, and the atmosphere at night is very dark and unsettling, especially during bad weather. We experienced a strong storm and couldn’t sleep due to the noise of wind and rain. The timing of our visit (late April) may have been an additional factor, as we sometimes felt like we were the only guests at the hotel. In addition, insects are everywhere, which may not suit those who are afraid of them. ‏The place may suit those who are looking for isolation, quietness, and simplicity, but it did not suit me. I would recommend staying no more than two nights and enjoying it during the day. We booked 5 nights but checked out after 3—this is the first time I have ever left a hotel before the end of my stay despite my frequent travels. ‏On the positive side, the staff were very kind and helpful and responded to our request to change the room. Special thanks to Mr. Patrick for his support. ‏Overall, it was not a good experience for me.

It was a complete experience in every way, in terms of service quality, cleanliness, and the professionalism and kindness of the staff. The hotel and the cottage also feature very beautiful views that create a sense of comfort and relaxation, and the surrounding area is absolutely wonderful and adds even more to the charm of the stay. A truly exceptional experience in every sense of the word, and I highly recommend it.

• lrodei138982 (8/5): Stay at Hunter’s in a premier garden suite - We love Hunters Country House but this is the first time I’ve noticed a few cracks in the veneer.. some of the furniture is tired and needs replacing or a facelift. I only point this out as if they are going to charge the rates they do they can’t have old worn sofas in the rooms and have the paint peeling from all their dining chairs in the breakfast room. Just little things that need to stay at a certain level to maintain the level of luxury if they want to charge the current daily rates.

• Anna (10/5): Traumhafte Unterkunft nahe Plett - Hunters Country Lodge ist einfach traumhaft. Die Lage ist perfekt gelegen um Aktivitäten in Plettenberg Bay zu unternehmen. Robberg Nature Reserve ist nur 15 min mit dem Auto entfernt! Die Ruhe vor Ort ist einfach perfekt und wir haben super geschlafen. Die Badezimmer sind ein Traum und auf Wunsch wird einem nachts der Kamin eingeheizt. Wir waren im Sage und Zinzi im Hotel essen. Etwas vorne war das Sage geschmacklich, aber beide Restaurants definitiv zu empfehlen, wenn man abends nicht mehr fahren möchte. Das Personal ist super zuvorkommend! Wir haben uns ab Sekunde eins richtig wohl gefühlt! Es war die beste Unterkunft auf unserer 14 tägigen Südafrika Reise und wir wollen definitiv wieder kommen! Nichts, alles perfekt!

The hotel suites were very comfy and tastefully furnished. The gym was well thought out and maintained, This is really nit- picking but The suite we were in had a strange smell which I think is the smell of the thatched roof in the sun. It didn’t bother us at all and you get used to it but I imagine it would bother some.

Peace & tranquility abound here, our room no:31 was just perfect & really comfortable. We ate at each of the three restaurants, Zinzi was our favourite, followed closely by Tsala. We cannot speak highly enough of this place, the staff are so happy & super friendly, attentive without being fussy. Thank you Hunters.

No complex map in room. Only one chair in room which is poor for the room price. Took 10 minutes to get credit card machine to work at checkout

• Lavender2323 (10/5): Fantastic service, food and grounds but our room was sparsely furnished - We really enjoyed our three night stay at Hunter’s Country House. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The grounds are extensive and extremely well maintained. We ate once in each of the three restaurants on site and the food was superb as were the breakfasts each morning. We stayed in a terrace room. Whilst the bed was very comfy the room was sparsely furnished to the extent there wasn’t even a seat to sit on or a luggage rack. The complimentary bottle of wine in the room on arrival was a lovely touch but a seat to sit on would have been preferable.
• IndyHRH (10/5): Perfect hotel and staff, in a little bit of paradise. - Where to start?! We had the pleasure of staying at Hunter's Country House for four nights following my son's wedding in Cape Town. We had been looking forward to our stay for a long time as it was also our belated honeymoon and it didn't disappoint in any way. First impressions were of a very beautiful and wonderfully maintained property. The drive up through the stunning grounds was memorable. We were warmly greeted by the Manager, Travis and shown around. We were delighted to be upgraded to Crowberry, which was a beautiful cottage suite in an even more private part of the grounds. It was elegantly decorated and well equipped, we loved the fact there were anti-baboon guards on the windows! The bed was very comfortable with quality bedding and we loved the little notes and chocolates each evening. We found the location to be perfect in order to visit Plettenburg and the many attractions nearby. We ate at Sage restaurant which served beautiful food and wine, although it was quiet. The following evening we had pre-booked the restaurant at Tsala, Travis advised us that there were no other bookings that night and asked if we would be happy to have a private dinner! Wow, what a meal...We were truly spoiled and enjoyed watching the sunset over the treetops and we had the most beautiful meal and personal service, it was a very special and memorable evening. The next evening we went to Zinzi, the final restaurant choice available, and that's when we had a problem. The service was exceptionally slow, we both ordered ribeye steaks, one of which was totally inedible, just fat and gristle. We complained and a replacement was returned very quickly...too quickly, as it had not been rested it was utterly tasteless. We sent that back also and although the staff apologised it really wasn't a good experience. At this point we must advise that Zinzi is run completely independently of Hunter's Country House, so imagine our amazement that when we updated the hotel about our very disappointing meal, they would not accept payment for our final diner at Sage restaurant! They really did not need to do that but wouldn't take no for an answer. This hotel is wonderfully managed by Travis, he is so helpful and professional, as are all the staff we encountered, from the lovely man on the gates to the gardeners and all the waiting staff, especially Caroline, who was such a character! The staff are such an asset and really want you to enjoy everything, which shines through with the service they provide. We had such a beautiful trip to South Africa and Hunter's Country Hotel was definitely a highlight, it was a real pleasure and we would return in a heartbeat.

Beautifully appointed main house. The manager could not be more helpful and he runs a great staff. Difficult access road, must have a car as you will be travelling either to Plettenberg or Knysna. Highly recommend the walk on Robberg Peninsula.

• davidbatie (10/5): Looking forward to returning again - This was our return visit to Hunters, which is a beautiful place to spend the last days of a wonderful trip to South Africa. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and the grounds are well manicured. The food at breakfast and dinner was very fresh, plentiful, and delicious. Travis, the manager, is very friendly, helpful and professional, who is supported by an equally amazing staff. Everything runs smoothly, nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel truly looked after. We are now looking forward to our next visit in March, relaxing and enjoying being pampered before our long trip back home to the UK.

There are very few properties able to deliver such a personal service always looking for ways to enhance the comfort and experience of guests. The gym with beautiful view, dinner options and fire place in the room are my favorite added benefits of this property. Absolutely nothing.

The gardens with the baboons, birds and buck were lovely and felt like a true relaxing sanctuary. The cold swimming pool. Maybe a heated pool will be better.

• patfD616VS (10/5): Real Country house luxury. - An amazing experience, we were only there for two nights and how I wished it could be longer. The rooms are in lovely cottages in the grounds which are secure and very extensive and beautiful and the staff are friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was fab too and served in the large conservatory, we also had a dinner in the Zinzi restaurant which is also within the estate and that was excellent too. If I am ever in South Africa again, I will definitely revisit Hunters Country House.

Staff professional, efficient and friendly. Great on site restaurants. Ticks all the boxes for relaxation and rejuvenation. What was not to like. Nothing. Impossible to think of anything.

The villas and the entire building complex are very well maintained, and the staff are very attentive and fulfil every wish without hesitation. Deer roam the grounds, which is something special. The restaurant is also highly recommended, both for its excellent breakfast and dinner.

I spent months researching properties in SA for our holiday of a lifetime and Hunter's was the one we decided on to experience Plettenberg and we absolutely loved it! We had a warm welcome and drink in the summerhouse, thank you Donald. Our suite was just utterly exquisite, the gardens were absolutely beautiful, the welcome note was very much appreciated, and the dinner on our first evening, just the two of us in the summerhouse was beyond words. A huge thank you to the lovely young man who looked after us. On our second evening, we ate at Tsala and both said, "it just keeps getting better and better" dinner in the forest above the treetops! We had to drag ourselves away to go and look for whales however, we were rewarded. We stayed at seven different properties on this trip, all were beautiful however, Hunter's was my favourite. Thank you to each one of the "Hunter's family" for having us and giving us the experience of a lifetime, we will never forget it! If you are considering it, just book it, it's fabulous!
