Guest Reviews
- Dan (10/5): - The rooms, kitchen and bathroom were cleaned. Lot of towels and kitchen appliances. The sofa bed was not so good. Rooms were kind of dark because only one outside window for the whole apartment.
- kris (8/5): - it mentions “ac” as an amenity. it doesn't mention that ac is a floor mounted unit sitting in the bed room. and if you are heading there in the summer don’t try and check in at top of the world. you’ll have to head down to “allegheny springs” in the village to check in. kinda sucked hunting around for almost 30 mins before we found out we had to go somewhere else to check in. hotels.com should of made that clear in their “prestay” email but failed to.
- Julie B. (8/5): Great place for a couple, straight from the 70s. - We stayed for 2 nights to snowboard and enjoyed the quick slope access and bus stop. Be warned, we were charged an additional $50 when we arrived in resort fees. Had we known this we probably would have stayed somewhere cheaper. We didn't have time to check out the hot tubs, but it looked nice. Unit had bountiful cooking equipment and an ancient stovetop/oven. Comforter is stained, but we found additional blankets in the closet. The decor was perfect for the Snowshoe theme. Very convenient to store gear inside our room and be close to Hoots. Clean unit. Thanks!
- Tanner (10/5): Great for ski in and out. - We had a great 3 night stay here. This was for the most part a hidden gym of a spot. We felt like it was a fantastic spot for its location. My buddies and myself were looking for something that was easy to ski in and out of. This was great as the we could walk right our strap in and ski down to multiple runs/lifts.
It wasn’t the most comfortable. But we weren’t looking to get pampered. Great stay.
- Shannon (8/5): Ok place to stay. - Not a bad place to stay. Needs updating. Kinda tight for 4 people with 1 queen and sleeper sofa. Friends said the sleeper sofa was horrible to sleep on. Said you can feel the bars underneath. But being able to ski in and out was a plus.
- David (8/5): Ski in/out convenience - Great for skiing, not ideal for non skiers/boarders. Not much to do at the lodge other than ski/board or drink at Hoots. Lots of shuttles to get to the other buildings, restaurants and activities. Apparently the condition of the rooms vary greatly as they are privately owned. I was extremely happy with 101 as it was an apartment style room that looked directly at Soaring Eagle Express. Be advised, they will charge you an extra $25.33 per night as a “resort fee”
- LWilks (8/5): Great Stay! - We are very pleased with our room. We arrived early so we had to wait. We were able to check-in to our room at 4:30 though, just 30 mins earlier than the standard check in. We were hoping we could get in earlier but the room was not ready. The room is very nicely stocked with whatever we needed from kitchen utensils, amenities such as TV, Cable, bath towels, we even have a stack of DVDs to watch. Our room is at the second floor right at the corner facing the Soaring Eagle Express. It was very quiet. We did have to open the window because it gets a little warm inside. We loved our stay, would recommend.
- Simon (8/5): Decent location - Great location with all amenities needed. Not as modern as other resorts but worked for the weekend
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ski In- Ski Out - The place is like an old shoe. It was comfortable. Did not need the heat on. The condo, as well as the entire facility is in need of an upgrade. That being said, it was great to be able to ski in and ski out. We wanted to eat dinner at Hoot's ; however, they were only serving appetizers. The staff were friendly.j
- Rick (4/5): Nice room, but ..... - The overall room wasn't bad but, the floor needed cleaned. The TV didn't work. The hall light didn't work. The fan light in the bedroom flickered. The night stand light didn't work. No air conditioning and window had no screens.
- Heather (8/5): Weekend snowboarding trip - Location, location, location! This hotel is located at the top of the mountain which was perfect for getting up and hitting the slopes right away. Upon arrival we were able to check in early, which was a bonus since we had a 6 hour drive. The hotel need a few repairs but overall wasn't bad. The room was EXTREMEMLY warm. Had to leave the window open majority of the trip. Plenty of towels, pillows, blankets were supplied. I really enjoyed the walking trail that lead to the main shopping area. Overall was a great trip to Snowshoe. Will definitely be going back!
- A Beal (6/5): Slopeside but needs some TLC - The room was definitely dated needing TLC and updating. It was strange that in the bedroom there was a window facing the hallway, not outside like a typical room. What we loved was the location: slopeside to Widow Maker and some other blacks. If you are there for skiing and for only a couple of days, then location is good. If there for extended time, then select another hotel.
- Mitchell (8/5): Ski in/out - Great stay, ski in/out, clean room when you arrive with small kitchen. Housekeeping service at Top of the world is very slow if you need an extra towel or toilet paper, that was the only downside. 2 roles for four people over three nights is not enough
- Blair (8/5): Late summer trip to Snowshoe - I stayed here for three nights in September while vacationing in West Virginia. In general, Snowshoe itself is quite attractive and offers plenty to do even in summer. It's relatively isolated, but Snowshoe's location is convenient if you're visiting both the Greenbrier valley to the south and the Seneca Rocks/Dolly Sods area to the north...The hotel staff was friendly and the room offered both a TV/living area and a kitchen area...The main downsides were: (1) the hotel is located a 5-10 minute walk from the main part of the village; (2) the hotel doesn't offer wifi access, and cell reception is very limited in the area; and (3) the room was a bit musty and daily housekeeping service was not provided...All that said, the accommodations offered good value and were more than satisfactory as a base for exploring Snowshoe and the greater WV highlands region.
- Ski Mum (6/5): Great for an easy slope-side ski getaway! - 3rd floor had excellent views (no balcony though). Slope side is great especially with young kids. The unit smelled like feet, but it was quiet and fit the requirements otherwise
- Skier1234 (4/5): Solid place to stay - Top of the world is def dated the room was messy upon move in beds were so lumpy and everything was overstarched can't beat the location
- David (8/5): Better than The Inn, worth the extra price - Last year we stayed at the Inn at the bottom, the shuttle ride was annoying and inconvenient. The Top of the World allows you to dress in your room and walk right out to a ski run, and a ski lift drops you off right by the back door. The room included a coffee maker, stove, microwave, dishwasher, etc... When we first arrived there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, so we had to run a load and put them away. Unfortunately internet service here is barely working somewhere in the building, there was one random wifi access point that was slow and barely had signal in the room. The room had a cable modem with ethernet/usb connector, and it was super slow as well. (About 500kbps down, 2mbps up, 1500ms ping time w/ dropped packets, etc..)
