Guest Reviews
- Guest (4/5): Never again. - Arrived at 10:30pm with the temp outside at 95F (the high had been 109). The A/C in our unit had not been turned on prior to our arrival, so the temp in our room initially was in the 90s, and it took till well past midnight to get to comfortable for sleep. The shower door would not close completely, the faucet for the water basin was not working properly.
- Guest (6/5): - The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were quiet and fairly clean. Only complaint was the top sheet used as a fitted sheet but that's an easy fix.
- Vinni (5/5): If you plan to save $$, not the worst option .. - Receptionist requested us to give $50 deposit in cash, for our dog. Why in cash ? We never forgut to take it back though , if it was her plan :))) It has running water and a bit of conditioner, the rest is old and not nice...
- Logan (1/5): Worst hotel possible!! - Nothing. We ended up not staying after we payed online they asked us for a deposit in cash and when we asked why and told them no the got extremely aggressive and angry smelled exactly bad like cat pee in the lobby and was just over all sketchy and gross
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad -
- Jason (3/5): Unclean and unsafe - Conveniently located The staff was unwelcoming and treated us like criminals. The room smelled terrible and was unclean. We slept on top of the bedding and wore shoes to walk around. The fridge was not working. The window did not lock The bathroom was moldy and broken. When we left, they checked the room before they returned our deposit. We will never stay there again. We are very clean responsible people and this motel was not acceptable. We only stayed because we did not have other arrangements and we had traveled to the area for a funeral.
- Rhonda (3/5): Poor -
- Keely (5/5): Passable -
- Gary (4/5): Disappointed - Parking $100.00 deposit to confirm that the room is left in order. Only accepted cash, no credit card
Also no lobby. Had to talk through a thick glads like a theater when you pay. Employee was nearly I'm impossible to understand through the thick glass with his accent. Bathroom sing drain very slow a d water backed up. Homeless people outside. Left early without going to bed. Their policies indicate the type of customers they expect and their mistrust. Two cars in the w tire lot indicates others feel the same way I dud.
.
- Mailei (5/5): Passable -
- Castellanos (7/5): Good -
- Vargas (1/5): Bad - Staff was rude and they ask for mandattory $100 cash deposite then they keep my deposite in the morning when my friend picked me up
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Manager very hospitable Homeless people asking for lighters right outside our room. Not safe for our kids to wander
- Jeanette (9/5): Superb - The bed was comfortable, it was clean, owners nice . Room had fridge & microwave Pool wasn't useable.
- Castellanos (8/5): Very good -
- Castellanos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Conny (6/5): The bed was comfortable and clean. My stay was very short and within my work budget. - It was quiet and though run down it was clean In need of some improvement. The room was not setup before i got there. The AC was off and the power to the appliances was on a surge protector that was hidden so had to get help turning it on. Also no outlet available bedside. And no coffee
- Fernando (2/5): Rundown ! - Nothing Very rundown. Pool was out of service.
- Sandra (1/5): It was the worst I have experienced.. - No breakfast...Nothing No bath towels, air conditioner was not working correctly, lights were blown out, bed was hard, Microwave looked nasty inside. Not clean. The pool was also dirty....couldn't use it.
- Gina (10/5): It met my needs at the time of my stay. - Pool Coffee
- Bryan (5/5): Passable -
- Verified traveler (2/5): No - The only place I stayed at that required $100 CASH deposit, even after having paid with a credit card. When we got there we were unable to get into the pool because they closed it at 8pm. The table had two tiny dead roaches on it when we got into our room. The AC was not working at all and the room was more unbearably hot than being outside. Even with the windows open all night. The TV reception didnt work so we cpuldnt even watch tv because the glotching was so bad. Tried to get into the pool before we left and there was white crystal looking stuff at the bottom of the pool (told it was water conditioner) so we didn't feel ok getting in. Found another dead roach under bed area when leaving, no live ones though.
- Steve (10/5): Worth every penny - Was on a business trip lots of construction tools the owner help me unload my tools into the room showed up late was tired will definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The only reson we stayed in that MOTEL coz it was 11 at night we are so sleepy after driving 10 hours from Seattle. Expedia shount be list this to the Custemers this MOTEL is not for Expedia customers .
- Leslie (6/5): - Very dated hotel -
- RCJO (6/5): Nice (w/ odd 10:30 am moment)! - Nice enough place for an overnight stay. We were there during the Redding CA fire (dark skies, little sun, warm, falling ash all about and fire personnel using Red Bluff facilities when they could get away from working day and night on the blaze). These conditions probably kept the pool from being used by anyone during our stay.
Red Bluff is pretty small so most sleeping locations, including this one, are on the main boulevard.
As others have indicated it is a quiet place and inexpensive (though this can be said for other facilities in Red Bluff).
On the morning of our departure which was to occur prior to 11 am we got a call at 10:30 when we were showering. We hopped out thinking it was important. Figured it was management as no one we knew had the number. They were calling to make sure we were leaving (or to come pay if we were staying)! At best, this was odd. Never encountered this before. Not rude, but odd. We have never really been pushed out of a place before. Next time (as we drive the I-5 corridor periodically), we may just drive by.
- BC (4/5): - Many things in room needed to be fixed: Air conditioner's LOW FAN didn't work, 2 light bulbs were out, phone didn't work. Outside is a bit seedy, though the inside was nicer. Bed was comfortable. Inexpensive
- bodiel2016 (6/5): Red bluff - Good price good location nice staff places old not well maintained and not clean enough for a family single contractor road worker lumbermen yes family no. I very rarely complain and I'm not complaining now but it's not the cleanest room I've seen
- Verified traveler (2/5): no body home - Went to the hotel to check in no one came to lobby for more that 10 mins''''' Drove down the street to a nice Hotel that was quite and clean with a nice pool for 20 dollars less ///////
- 7TerriH (8/5): Really very good, especially as it was ver inexpensive. - The amenities in the room were great, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave. Great bed and shower, big tv. The pool was small but clean and well looked after. Great service from the front desk. The only thing we had trouble with were the doors because they stick a little when you close them.
- Nic (6/5): Only OK. Not really worth the price. - Room was generally clean in an older motel. Had the full range of gadgets: microwave, toaster oven/coffee maker, fridge, cable TV, iron and board, hair dryer. One office type chair, queen bed. The sheets had the feel of fresh but not washed or pressed, towels were OK. Pillows were small, one soft, 2 firm. The floors creaked underfoot and were soft in spots due to broken/rotten floor boards. The toilet had a leaky valve and cycled every 5 minutes or so, loudly. Not much noise from adjacent and upstairs rooms. This was during the Solar Eclipse weekend, and other hotels had also raised their rates even as far away as The Dalles, but I feel like I overpaid for what I got. I'm not sure Expedia got me a bargain on this one.
- alanvoetsch (8/5): Quiet and inexpensive - Reserved here because of the pool and my 11 year old grandson. Was only $64 a night, a little small but we only needed it for one night. Lots of rooms available, check in was a little slow but went OK.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Moved here when motel 6 was overbooked: downgrade - Clean but crusty and dated. Beware $25 cash deposit and AM room inspection. 90 degrees room took a couple hours to cool 11pm 4th of July weekend.
- family vacation (2/5): Need a place to sleep - This hotel is just like abandoned building. Don't ever take your family there, if have choices like Super8, Motel6 or Day inn then go there.
- Pierre (6/5): Eh? - Fair
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There is no coffee as advertised. Only cheap coffee until 8:30.
- lilkk (6/5): For the price, it's ok - We just stayed here for the night while passing through. About what you'd expect from a cheap hotel. The front clerk was very friendly and nice. The hotel itself is older and a bit rundown, but maintained. Our room had a microwave and a fridge which was handy. The rooms themselves are nice, plenty of room for clothes and storage; normal wear and tear. The bathroom does not have a tub, so for the itty bitty ones it's hard to bathe them. Breakfast is included, but only prepackaged pasties and coffee. The pool looked to be maintained, didn't use it; but was cleaned. The ice machine had bugs in the ice so didn't use it. The neighborhood is on the outskirts of the main town and seemed a bit rundown as well. Heard a train blowing it's horn for about 5 minutes around 10:30 pm and sirens seemed to be constant. Sunday morning had church bells ringing at 6:30 (not sure if it's a daily occurrence or a special event) so if you're a light sleeper be prepared for noise. In the next parking lot is a Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, Dominos Pizza, Baskin N Robbins and a few local restaurant style places.
- KCN (4/5): Nasty hotel in Red Bluff ca - Small dirty room that smelled bad. I didn't want to take my shoes off and touch the carpet. The bed spread thing was nasty and I felt like buying a sleeping bag to sleep in
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not happy - Sucked! There was hidden fees upon checking in! When things of cleaning and needing fixed were brought to the attention of the personal they were not friendly about doing it. In fact, instead of cleaning or fixing they just checked us out. The good thing is we were able to get the hidden fee, however I am still waiting for the rest to be refunded. Expedia needs to really check up on places before recommending and booking rooms for people. One last thing, there was only one vehicle in the parking lot (8:30 pm) and we were told the were full. Not a good place to stay
- dwayneo635 (8/5): Very good considering the price. - Stayed here in March of 2017, understand it is new owners. Room was clean, few minor details overlooked. Only one other room had tenants, so very quiet. It was built in the early 70's from the looks, but well taken care of. Found coupon at one of rest stops for $39.95, well worth it. Breakfast consists of coffee and pastry, but at that price can stop somewhere else. If you just want a place to stay for lost cost, would suggest this. Was going to stop in Redding, found this place, good choice. Even had high speed Wi-Fi, no extra charge.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disrespectful staff - NEVER EVER, EVER STAY HERE - The women working here was incredibly disrespectful and rude. Absolutely no customer service skills. She talked down to us and treated me like dirt. She kept asking questions and acted like I was lying to her. Also, there is a $25 dollar cash only deposit that she requires. She thought that it was crazy that I asked for a receipt to it. The beds were hard, room was dirty and moldy. The bathroom shower looked like something was growing on it and the towels were stiff and falling apart. It needs some actual cleaning. In the morning when I checked out, she said that she had to inspect the room before she could give me the $25 deposit back. Even though the she saw that the room was fine and nothing was removed, she still gave me major attitude about giving the deposit back. Sorry, but if I wanted to spend $25 more, I would've got a very, very nice hotel. As for the "continental breakfast" that consists of vending machine pastries and the coffee that is normally provided in your hotel room. Never ever stay here! The staff at this hotel should not be allowed to interact with the public. They also said that this hotel only had 4 rooms left for the night. There were only 4 cars in the parking when I checked in late at night. More like, they only booked 4 rooms. I now clearly know why. Will never stay here again. Hopefully someone can help the women working the desk to learn some respect and manners. Worst hotel/motel experience ever.
- Julia (2/5): - front desk was rude and when check out they run and check the room before giving you your $25 back
- Verified traveler (2/5): run down hotel in red bluff, ca. - the door lock would not work. hotel personell wanted us to use that room any way even tho our electronic key would not work. finally they gave us a different room after several trips to the office. both rooms needed repair. carper was stained and dirty. toilet kept running loudly, shower was not really usable. shower door couldn't really open, toilet paper holder was broken, curtains didn't close all the way. heater struggled to keep room warm and was very hloud. we will never stay there again
- ronald (4/5): One night stay - Beds were hard. Room was very dated. Motel looked like it was a residence for some.
- MissBumblebee333 (10/5): Excellent for an inexpensive motel. - We made a nine-day road trip across the country, staying only at motels that cost $55 or less for a single room. This was the nicest such motel that we stayed in. It was clean and had many amenities that inexpensive motels don't usually have (fast wifi, pool, shampoo, king-sized beds...). It was nothing fancy, but we weren't looking for something fancy and, moreover, one ought not to expect something fancy at this price. We were very pleased.
- serenadesea (2/5): Crossed out my "deposit," on the registration card, added it to the total, and called me a liar in the morning - I was told there was a $10 deposit, and that was fine. The clerk initialed next to it on the registration card, but then when we checked out in the morning, the word "deposit" had been crossed out, and the $10 was added to the total. When I explained what the clerk had told me the night before, the morning clerk explained that their hotel didn't TAKE deposits, and called me a liar. I had asked for a room with one King size bed, but was given a room that had two Queen size beds (which costs more). I figured it was because that was all that was available. When we checked out, I mentioned it to the morning clerk, and she accused me of trying to get a discount. There were other issues besides the conniving rudeness of the front desk staff: There was mud all around the bottom, inside the shower, so my daughter and I did not feel comfortable enough to bathe. Also, I literally slept on top of the bedding, because I did not trust the bedding, due to the fact that the room was so dirty. It was a very insulting experience. I didn't appreciate my daughter witnessing somebody calling me a liar. In fact, it made my daughter very mad. When you pay someone for a service, you don't expect to be called a liar, or to be tricked into paying more than the quoted rate. Obviously, it made me feel bad. Not the kind of feeling you want to have, when you are on a vacation, trying to have a family-bonding experience.
- linda (2/5): - The shower handle was so loose you could not get warm water to shower. About $20 more than it should have been. Listed as a no frills hotel, and that is true.
- kaye (6/5): Traveling. - Jst needed some sleep for a few hours and shower with the price its good. Signs says breakfast but none, not even a coffee..
- Michael (2/5): Just acceptable - Needed roof and bed, and got it
- DanielleGAustralia (2/5): Run away from this ghetto prison cell block - I have been road tripping the States staying in multiple hotels and this has been by far the worst! It looks like a prison cell block and whilst the rooms are old but clean, the Lady at reception (presumably the owner) is extremely rude. She charged me a $25 cash deposit which was not disclosed on booking and then made me wait to watch to check the room on leaving like I was a criminal. The grounds are in disrepair and someone tried to kick my door in at night. It made me feel really unsafe. Run from this place!
- Verified traveler (2/5): RUNDOWN Motel on a shady part of town. - Passing thur and i booked the hotel online before getting to the place.. the picture online are nothing like the actual motel.. once i checked in you can tell this is more of a motel for local people living out of their car or homeless... it had a funny moldy smell to it.. as soon i checked in they required me to give a $25 cash deposite n pointed ne out to thw closes atm.. on the morning of check out i ask for my deposite back n the lady infront was slow to want to give it bavk to me she needed to go chexk if i taken any towel or pillows or whatever... i waited 15 mins well she inspected the room.. for what idk... i got my entire deposite back at they end vvecause of course i didn't want to take a souvenir from This place... whatever you do avoid it its really rundown.
- joe (2/5): never stay here - rudest owners I ever met, when I showed up they tried charging me extra over what I paid Expedia and then they refused to let me check in for over an hour until Expedia called them. disrespectful, bad bad bad service. they dont deserve your money
- lloydn752 (8/5): Some People Are Too Serious, Expect Too Much - Small place owned by a couple working hard to overcome a bad reputation. The room was a typical dated 1970's ambience, tidy and VERY clean. The carpet old, but cleaned better than the expensive places I have stayed. Comfortable beds, hot shower, cool A/C.
The shower was an older aluminum framed type with some corrosion; NOT to be confused with "dirty". The place was freshly painted, beds and towells excelent.
There is a play area in the middle, a court yard. This is one of the cheapest places in town, and certainly can be considered a great bargin for the money.
I highly recommend if you are not the type who must have all the latest and greatest.
Oh, the morning coffee is terrible, hot water with a bit of coffee coloring. (I assume those who made it do not drink it)
- Unfortunate Exp (4/5): Horrible conditions. Rude staff - We had a non-smoking room with a park bench with an ashtray for smoking right in front of our room. Asked to be moved mgr said yes for a 35.00 fee! Towels &-sheets so old they had holes. As the picture shows. We had an accident with a drunk down the street so had to had to stay somewhere fast. Our car was not ready til 12pm wouldnt lare check out due to circumstances not even ONE hour. Horrible experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for quick overnight stay - You get what you pay for, it's not bad, not good. Simply four walls and a bed.
- bjjoy54 (8/5): stayed 1 night - Good clean place to stay. I like this Motel because I can park front of Room.
Bathroom are small but clean. Good wfi got up with some my work.Joyed a movie on HBO small motel had more channels than Motel 6. Will stay again.
- C (2/5): NOT NICE - Only car in parking lot, very old place, unkempt staff of one, room key difficult, bed sagged, dust in corners, doors appeared to be repaired from recent break-in, curtains hanging crooked off window, shower mouldy, ambulance and police dealing with homeless guys on the corner, etc.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The beds were very hard felt like I was sleeping on a box spring. The staff was not rude but very in helpful and not very nice. The free breakfast consisted of one Danish. And we found mouse poop in the sheets the following morning while looking for a missing sock. The only good thing about it was it had a fridge and microwave.
- Joel43_12 (6/5): Acceptable cheap basic motel - We stayed 3 nights early November. The motel was dated but the room was clean, comfortable, and secure with maid service. Only one small sachet of shampoo was provided but the shower was fine and the wifi was acceptable. Breakfast consisted of 1 pastry and coffee. During our stay the bbq area was monopolised by working families staying there. Cozy diner was opposite (just across the road) which provided good wholesome meals.
- luv2go2010 (4/5): Better than camping out. - Very old facility, but the shower was fine, the king mattress extra firm-permitting a good night's sleep. Cable TV provided many channels. The heater warmed the room. The microwave cooked my oatmeal in 2 min. We did not use the frig. The sheets were clean- no visible unwanted "guests." The hair dryer was helpful. It was not the Ritz-but for the price, it was better than sleeping at a rest stop. We did not use the outdoor pool, nor attend the continental "breakfast." The towels were small and poor quality, but I had a deluxe towel in my luggage. There was no mold or mildew or major cosmetic defects with bathroom or walls. The bathroom fixture looked new, and a section of plumbing under the sink had a new white PVC elbow. For the price, it was quite reasonable. I did not take pictures, but our room looked nothing like the terrible photos I have seen posted here. It must have been remodeled since those photos were taken. It looked more like the nicer photos inside. I did have a problem with the exterior-it was not attractive -but for a place to sleep when passing through-it was better than some higher priced accommodations.
- John (6/5): Ok stop. - Ok stop.
- Brushog (2/5): THIS PLACE IS CRAP!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE - What a dirty filthy place. Run as fast as you can. Dirty rooms. Terrible service at the desk. Looks like the beds are old as hell. Lady will not refund your money. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND A BETTER PLACE
- clarissa (2/5): Old is one thing dirty is another - Hotel staff was RUDE! Yelled at my 12 year old daughter accusing her of being an adult using the pool without permission when I repeatedly explained she was my child in my room. Rooms were dirty, pool was a clean pond at best, laundry services broken. Free breakfast was a pastry and not enough for even one room I guests.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The walls were dirty, and the shower head was very short and the air conditioning had a burning smell, so we could not use it.
- 578kristinak (2/5): Absolutely disgusting - RUN. RUN AWAY. This hotel is absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed. In addition to horrendous service (wouldn't give me extra towels without complaining!), there was a dead roach in the room, water stains on the walls, the water runs brown, the hot-water knob came off in my hand, the toilet leaked, the whole place smelled, the walls are paper-thin and there was garbage floating in the green, rust-filled pool that I couldn't even bring myself to dip a toe in. Awful service, awful rooms. Will never stay there again and will be calling Department of Health to complain.
- David (4/5): The only good thing is that it is cheap - Not very clean, not very friendly, not very anything...
- Mughis (2/5): Cheap, But not worth the low cost - We needed a place only to spend the night and have a light breakfast. Even though on Expedia this hotel was advertised to have "Free Breakfast", there was only a pastry and coffee. I don't think that should really qualify as breakfast. Bathroom showers were not properly working. I would never stay in this hotel.
- ALBERT (2/5): Drop from HOTELS.COM LISTING - 'This hotel wasn't worth $25. a night. Scum and mold on the shower door. The paint was peeling and place was so disgusting that I wonder where and when they took the picture to show it on HOTELS.COM..because other than the bedspread the room hardly even looked like what is advertised. I would never recommend a place like this to my worst enemy. I have stayed in many low cost hotels that I would have given them 4 stars.. this isn't worth 1 star.. I would remove this hotel from your listings. It is simply the worst I could ever imagine, and I couldn't wait to leave it!'
- ahayes91109 (2/5): DO NOT GO THERE!!!! - WE GOT INTO PARKING Lot And Immediately Got told No Rooms!! Hardly No One Was There!!! They were very rude!! They then proceeded to tell us less than 5 min later to get our stuff and go!!! They were not professional!!! They all kept staring at us the whole time we were there!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good clean, near food outlets, - It was good value for your dollars, easy to find off I 5'
- SV (2/5): Old as in 50's or early 60's era , mold bath wall - Stay away, I made mistake in thinking it was a Holiday "INN EXPRESS", this old motel does not deserve a 1 rating, impossible to heat as the noise level of the unit would not allow sleep, bed was OK but lacked blankets , had better pillows in jail !!
- katbalou45 (2/5): DON'T EVEN TRY IT!!!!!!!! - Totally disgusting!! Room smelled of mold. Flushed the toilet and water leaked all over the floor. Went to the desk and the jerks handed me a towel and a bucket to catch the leaks!! Then they charged us twice but my bank cancelled the second charge. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING THERE!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Only in an emergency. - The rooms are run down. The bathrooms are rickety. The first room given to me had cracked, spackled walls. The second room had cigarette burns on the carpet.
- tabathae2014 (2/5): Most disgusting place I have ever seen! - So, we drove all day (15 hrs) made the reservation online, as usual. The lady @ the front would not let me in the lobby (it was after 10 pm, 10:06 to be exact). It was very cold out, I could see my breath! She was not able to locate my reservation at first (which I found odd, considering there were literally 2 other cars in the lot). Finally she was able to find the reservation, but she was having trouble getting the money from expedia. Now, let me say that I have made many of these reservations, and have NEVER had to wait for a hotel to "get the money"! This is not something that is my fault, and I feel that it was extremely unprofessional to make me wait out in the cold for 20 minutes while she tried to straighten it out! This should have been taken care of, as the money was removed from my account right away. Even though she was having an issue, she should have showed me my room, and taken care of it on her own time. Well, FINALLY I was given a key. Went to the room, it was indescribable. I have NEVER seen a more filthy room! There were literally seamen stains on the headboard, filth everywhere, the lights would not turn on, she had to come fiddle with them. I was completely taken aback. I should have left the lights out! We took the bed apart, and the sheets were stained, they looked like they had not even been washed, complete with little hairs.....the walls were all stained and dirty. The smell...I can't even describe it! My husband brought our bags in, and I immediately set them back outside! I worry that there might have been bugs or lice! Certainly bed bugs! I called expedia 3 times, and they DID take care of me, however, the flea bag motel would not issue a refund! I was livid. I have never written a bad review, but cold not let this go! I have to warn everyone not to stay here, unless you just need the room for an hour, if ya know what I mean! I did take pics, and will be posting them asap.
- Stephanieschwoerer (8/5): Under New Management, Give them a try ! - My Husband and I visited RedBluff a few weeks ago and stayed American Inn Express and the rooms were clean and neat. Beds were comfortable, Yes the place is old but they are trying real hard to fix it up. Would stay their again the NEW Owners are really trying hard to please. Great price for a overnite stay. Thankyou.
- Penny (2/5): Awful Motel - The only positive thing about the American Express Inn was the location for us. The Motel was dirty, the bed uncomfortable, the heater was noisy and the furnishings were in need of repair. Very disappointing and I do not recommned this Motel to anyone.
- memccue (2/5): AWFUL! - To start with, the motel was empty, which was disconcerting. I asked the woman who checked us in if it was safe, and she shrugged her shoulders and replied that it was a small town. I don't know if she meant that it was safe, or not. The room was VILE. It was dirty. The doors were poorly repaired. The heater did not work at first, and when it finally did, it was so noisy it kept waking us up. The beds were old and lumpy. The bathroom was one of the dirtiest I've ever seen. The pink walls had been "repaired" in sections with white paint. There was dirt everywhere. It looked like something out of a bad movie. In the middle of the night, an old couple checked in several doors down, and I could hear them outside coughing and smoking. We booked with Hotwire, and they refused to help us when we called to complain about the motel. It was listed as a 2 star, which is really the problem, because it should not have been on the rating system. Hotwire insisted it was a 2 star. Either they have a room that has been renovated to show the inspectors, or Hotwire has a very bad rating system. Although it was a "non-smoking" room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. We all slept in our clothes, which then reeked of cigarettes in the morning. Other reviewers had worse experiences, so I should be relatively happy and I should point out that we did not get bed-bugs, and the sheets seemed clean.
They may have updated rooms someplace in the complex, but we did not see them, and Hotwire's inspectors must be blind. Hotwire was impossible to deal with, so we will not be using them again.
- Kevin (6/5): Fine if you're not picky and low on cash - The sheets were clean and everything worked. If you don't have a lot of money and just need a place to stop for the night, then you're good to go.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bates Motel - It was ok. Clean linen and bathroom for road warriors. Good value. Think Bates motel in the Hitchcock movie when you approach...
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Breakfast was a joke. Coffee and a packaged pastry. That was "the free breakfast ".
- MDawson (2/5): Terrible - We checked in and checked out a half an hour later. It was dirty I was afraid to sleep on the bed not knowing when the last time they were washed. I didn't want my children to lay on the bed or even remove there shoes
- picky girl (4/5): You get what you pay for - need i say more? old & tired motel, but felt safe. owners are very nice & attentive
- Barnettfmly (4/5): A friendly place to stay - The motel was rather out dated as it is a painted cement block building with ongoing renovation in progress. The rooms were inviting albeit a quite bit dated. The bathroom did have some problems like a leaky toilet which needed repair.
The manager was very friendly and was very helpful in resolving most of our concerns and was quite responsive in helping us find our way around the complex and around town.
The location is quite close to the downtown Red Bluff section with ample restaurants close by.
Of course this motel is priced according to the overall dated condition of the property, but all in all I would say that it was good value for the money.
If your goal is economy, then this is the property to consider. The rooms are clean, beds are confortable and clean, (2 Doubles or 1 King beds are available) and bathroom facilities are clean.
They also include the local cable TV offering with HBO.
There is also a swimming pool for guest use.
They also offer Ice for guests and have a Coke machine near the pool area.
The manager also provides fresh coffee in the morning at the front office for guests.
I did not expect this to be a 4 star hotel/motel, I expected the level of a Motel 6 and it met that expectation.
- Anonymous (8/5): Fine Place to Lay Your Head - This little place was great for the price. New beds, microwave and fridge in the room. Nice when you just need a place to lay your head for the night.
- Headed for Oregon (2/5): Very midleading! - The room did not smell good. There were holes torn in the sheetrock. The wall paper or paint was peeling from off the upper wall. I called ahead to ask about the "remodel". They said it was all complete. If it was complete it must have been done in 1960! Very old run down place. Found a live cockroach in the first room. The heater was so loud it sounded like an air compressor was on in the room. We waited for about 10 min to see if it would change, it didn't. So I called the front desk and complained. The people at the front desk were nice and friendly and sorry. They immediately moved us to a better smelling room, with no cockroaches and a much quieter heater. My wife and I are pretty easy going with accomadations, however we would not stay here again. The price was too high for the quality.
- Anonymous (2/5): ick - 1. looked at the dirt, dust and other ick's in wall heater (both bathroom and sleeping area) altho they are no longer in use they need removed.
2. Yes, clean carpet, etc I felt dirty just being there, shower and shower door with about 17 years of soap buildup...ick
3. you should not represent this "Ick" the room I was in was not, did you here me NOT a remodeled room, bathroom has 1920 style tolet, no screen on window....however, I will say it was quiet as I was the only Idiot that was there and fearfully watching my vehicle all night through the bathroom window..which brings up the fact that the bathroom has no vent system...did I mention ICK ?
- Anonymous (4/5): Adequate for the price! - We just needed a place to sleep and shower, and this provided that for us at a reasonable price.
The room had not been remodeled yet, and really needed some TLC.
- Anonymous (2/5): Only lasted 1 hour! - The room was horrible...We expected a little less, due to the low price, but this was insane. The room was very old, and moldy smelling. Mold in the shower, no toilet roll holder. It was 106 outside, and the room was hotter inside. We gave the little air unit a little over an hour to cool the room...and nothing...we had to check out. The lady in the lobby was very nice, although she was just filling in, and had no idea about anything. We were the ONLY guest at the motel...if that tells you something. We went to The Best Western....VERY NICE!
- Anonymous (2/5): Not so good - Staff were friendly, but the "remodel" is a definite work in progress. The room we stayed in looked as if it were in the middle of a remodel - the ceiling had old painted wood and new unpainted strips in areas. The shower floor was in horrible shape and I felt I needed shower shoes to get in!
- Stacy (2/5): Would never stay again!!! - DO NOT stay in this motel!!
