Sally (10/5): - Island Leisure Resort is a great place to stay when visiting Maggie! No fuss, clean and tidy apartments with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pool is wonderful, my son loved the games room and the staff are so friendly and helped out with all my questions. There are places to eat nearby, however I would recommend booking in advance to ensure a spot. The Foodworks is overpriced and not great quality, grab your supplies at the Ferry Terminal's IGA if you can. Overall, a lovely place to stay at Island Leisure Resort!

The resort has excellent facilities (swimming pool, games room, laundry, library, BBQ). The location is convenient to the ferry terminal, a grocery shop, a restaurant and a bottle shop. The staff are very friendly & helpful and I would highly recommend this property to you.

Be aware that there is no wifi in the guest rooms and you can only use Wifi in the common room. The common room is comfortable with couches but it gets very hot as there is no aircon. Staff were receptive and accommodating to our late check in.
Amy27x (8/5): Peaceful stay - We had a warm welcome when we arrived and thr lady on reception gave us some great info about the island. We stayed in the superior Queen buree, it was decorated nicely and was spacious. The kitchen was well equipped. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the pool was nice. We loved our outdoor seating area where we spent most mornings and evenings relaxing enjoying our meals where the resident curlew greeted every evening, what a lovely bird! It was nice and peaceful. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Maggie island and we absolutely loved our stay here on the island, I would recommend, thank you.

My Evolution (10/5): - This is a fantastic resort. Whilst it's a little bit older, the rooms are open and spacious. The bed and pillow super comfortable and the property offers great value for money at a convenient location to the beach, restaurants and marina. Jennie was the manager and our point of contact. Super friendly and knowledgeable about the island, and a real joy to interact with.

FoodieWheels (10/5): Service above and beyond! - Our bure had everything we needed - even a small dishwasher. The pool was great at the end of long hot days cycling and walking. Good location. My hubby left his wallet in the room, the cleaner handed it in and Rachel, the owner, freighted it back to Townsville on the ferry that day. What a life-saver!

It was very clear she was passionate and gave us some great tips for food and activities. I also wanted to do some laundry after the staff hours and someone arrived within 5 mins to provide change. Much appreciated. Would recommend to anyone who comes onto the island. Also next to a bus stop which is 1dollar a day for unlimited travel around the island.

ClaireKilgannon (10/5): Another Maggie year done - Annual holiday to Island Leisure and Maggie Island just love staying in this home away from home feel management and staff fantastic and treat all as special guests well maintained with a lovely pool and spotless easy walk to local shops - restaurants - cafes - even walkable from ferry dock however bus drivers are more then happy to drop off at the door the magic of Magnetic Island is it does keep drawing you back especially to this resort

Margaret (10/5): A great place to stay at Magnetic Island - We were at Magnetic Island for 5 days with a couple of diving days included. Island Leisure Resort was a great place for our stay, close to Nelly Bay and Jenny and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room had very comfortable QS and Single bed, kitchenette with microwave, full size fridge, hotplates, cooking utensils, kettle and toaster. We were also able to get a coffee plunger. The bathroom was large with a screen-less shower, plenty of towels and toilet paper supplied. A TV was mounted high up on the wall and there was a reverse cycle air-conditioner. A small outdoor area was nice for the afternoon sun. They don't service the rooms during your stay, which we prefer. The WiFi is free and works well. Getting there from the ferry, we walked with our bags but in hindsight we should have caught the bus or a taxi, an easy walk with no bags. Taxis are $15 to almost anywhere I think and the bus is an excellent way to get around the island. We bought a week's pass and used it every day. There was a pool and laundry, tennis court, and also a games room with table tennis and a small kiosk for any essentials you need. Foodland is a short walk up the road and there's a pharmacy and bottle shop there as well. Overall it was a comfortable and quiet place to stay and had everything we needed. We would stay again if we come back to Maggie.

aliciahu2 (10/5): Good resort - Really loved this place, rooms are spacious (needed for alot of luggage as travellers). They have a bar area, games room, tennis courts and a pool. Rooms were secure, theres a bolt on the inside of the door and keys for front door and outside seating area (which was your own) . When i was there it did look like the pool hadnt been cleaned in a afew days so i didnt go in but all in all its a good size! The location is good, bus stop on the street which takes you all around the island and its a 13 min walk from nelly bay ferry terminal. Reception lady was so lovely and friendly and she was very happy to help which makes all the difference The only complaint i have is that there was no full length mirror in the room and it was very hard as someone who is small to see what i looked like head to toe! But there is a mirror in the bathroom

jaymo2015 (10/5): Perfect location - We arrived the bus stop is a very short walk away. We had a really friendly informative welcome. Room spotless and plenty big enough. On site lots to do games room, pool, laundry, swimming pool with comfy beds. A very short walk there is a supermarket, bottle shop, pharmacy. Restaurants also in walking distance.

Heidi (10/5): - I was told that we would have a bottle of wine for our room which never occurred and when the hotel said i had an upgraded room that off-loaded that request, i didn't understand their comment since the room i requested was the room that I received other than it being handicap accessible that i don't feel is an upgraded room. It's more of an awkward room since the shower and the sink was in the same room so no one wanted to shower at the same time as getting ready in the am at the sink.

jimrobwilson (10/5): A quiet getaway or a large group - this is the place - An excellent place to stay either for a quiet getaway (we did in Oct '22) or a larger family holiday (Oct '23). We had 14 in our group staying in a mixture of Bures & the Villa. The staff (Jenni, Rachael & Paula) were excellent. Helpful, friendly and cheerful but not intrusive. They provided a great 'treasure hunt' map for the younger ones. The resort is clean and the pool great. The resort is only just over a klm from the Nelly Bay ferry terminal, an easy walk. Numerous eateries, 2 supermarkets, a pharmacy & 2 bottle shops nearby.

DJTM2817 (10/5): Island Leisure Resort - The best spot to stay on Magnetic Island - Central to Everything - This resort is owned by Defence Holidays and offers discounts for current and past Defence members as well as current emergency services around Australia. This is the 4th time we have stayed at Island Leisure Resort over the last 2 years, we absolutely love what the resort and Magnetic Island has to offer. We have booked it again for 2024. The weather was fantastic and we stayed in a superior room number 1 its our favorite room. The resort is extremely well managed by Daughter and Mother team Rachel and Jenni. Nothing is too had for the ladies who provide excellent customer service and make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. The bus is very easy to use and gets around the whole island every hour, you just have to time your journeys to the arrival time of the bus and they are on time all the time and very well priced for weekly tickets around $20. There's plenty of restaurants and pubs around the different bays to visit also with an assortment of shops. The resort is very close to 2 supermarkets a Food works and IGA so getting what you need is very easy and accessible. There's plenty of walking tracks and you must go to Radical Bay which is the best bay on the island but only via walking tracks. Rooms are very comfortable with full kitchen and large fridge. The pool is fantastic to enjoy and escape the heat or work on that suntan.

Staff were very welcoming, caring and shared lots of local tips for dining, snorkelling and getting around the island. Everything we needed was there - pool towels, kitchenware, lots of fresh bath towels, crisp clean linen, lovely clean pool, walk to the beach and felt very private & quiet. Lovely tropical garden around each Bure and lots of bird life Little hidden gem

jewel_58 (10/5): Highly recommend - Very clean, lovely resort. We felt welcomed and well informed from the moment we got to reception. The room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed. Only thing (and this is us, we’re a bit precious) was the bathroom wasn’t fully enclosed. We turned the tv up so we couldn’t hear each other on the loo. 😂 Nice pool, great location close to shops and restaurants. The bus stop nearby is handy. Day pass on bus $9.60 per couple. Cash only

bec20222022 (10/5): Becs & Scott’s stay March 23 - Amazing quiet, tropical gem , clean rooms very welcoming staff & fully self-contained bungalow . Everything is close walking distance. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed everything about this place . Definitely well worth a visit & price is good .

They were full of knowledge of the local area, and provided some excellent suggestions of what we could do - especially as we were only there for a very short stay. The accommodation itself was lovely. The amenities include washing and drying facilities which was helpful for us backpacking. The pool was great for cooling off in the heat! I only wish we had booked to stay for longer!
Happiness22713931696 (10/5): Great relaxing holiday - The resort was clean and comfortable with everything that was needed provided. The pool area provided as much or as little shade as you wanted and was well-maintained. The gem of the property is Jenni who makes sure that she attends to any request that will make your stay more enjoyable as well as giving valuable tips about what to do and where to see. We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday. If you want to participate in a cruise activity make sure that you book early.
Stephen (10/5): What a Great Place to Stay - We had the best holiday on Magnetic Island and our Accommodation was Fantastic. Our room was spacious and so comfortable. The Property is close to everything but in a Quiet street just a short walk from everything. There is a beach in one direction and a small Supermarket, Coffee shop and Chemist just around the corner. Forget the high priced upmarket Beach Front Condos If you want Clean and affordable accommodation I highly recommend Island Leisure Resort Nelly Bay Magnetic Island.

Daniel (10/5): - Gem of a place. Rooms were large, well appointed and clean. Staff was super friendly, offering helpful tips on the best places to snorkel and swim. Great family place with lots of things to keep everyone busy - pool table, ping pong, darts, games, books, etc. We were there as a couple and really enjoyed our stay.
ClaireKilgannon (10/5): Will be back - Our second stay on Magnetic and the first stay at this resort and absolutely love it - staff are great very helpful with information about Magnetic and things to do - units very comfortable and spotlessly clean and well stocked with all you need plus you have a private outdoor area - the gardens are lovely with a great pool setting - walking distance to shops restaurants etc and bus stop a few step in one direction and beach a few steps in the other only downside was our holiday was over and we had to leave but only till next year as many other people we met there we will be returning year after year
