Guest Reviews
- Nicanor (8/5): - Only Medel a parking space
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don’t stay here - Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
Pros: clean and a few blocks walking distance to el jardin.
Cons:
- building is old and could use some renovations and upkeep.
- valet parking is a headache. It takes a minimum of 30-40 min to get your car.
- hospitality is poor. We had to check out one day early because of an emergency. The hotel refused to refund us for one night’s stay and parking.
- the room is hot and uncomfortable when the temperature reaches over 75F.
- mark (6/5): - Pros. Quaint, rustic, nice courtyard.
Cons. Almost non-existent Wi-Fi, dated and in need of a face lift
- brandon (4/5): - This property is old and poorly managed. It's not worth for the price. Staffs couldn't speak English. Our rooms didn't even clean until asked. Hotel condition is deteriorating.
- Natalie Marisela (10/5): - Loved this property 10/10
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful property with a great landscape.
- Gregory (2/5): - Much much dirtier than any photos you see. Look elsewhere for same cost. Staff only speaks Spanish. Very nice otherwise and did anything we asked. But this simply is just not up to a standard that most would want
- Robert (10/5): Back to my Roots - There maybe a lot of mixed reviews but I totally enjoyed the rustic traditional Mexican rooms and surrounding. Each room has a private terrace and the grounds are filled with beautiful plants, trees and flowers. The best part was that it was close walking distance to everything and I felt safe with the security gate.
- Stefan (10/5): - Wonderful courtyards and architecture.
- Cindy (8/5): - The property was very close to the Jardin (El Centro). The room was quiet. The bed was very comfortable and both the sheets and towels were very soft. After I checked in, I realized the toilet wasn’t working properly and they fixed it while I went out to dinner. It still leaked a little bit, but worked fine. The only thing I would recommend would be a small fridge of some kind so you don’t have to eat out three meals a day.
- Kathy (10/5): - The facility is nice and cute but the towels are really old .
- Daniel (10/5): - Nice place to stay, walking distance to most everything.
- Luis (10/5): - Great place, should add breakfast option again.
- Rafael (10/5): - I love the place
- Maria (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and the hotel grounds are beautiful. It is quite close to the center of town so walking distance to many restaurants and shops.
- O3865EPvickyr (10/5): Beautiful hotel! - I loved it! It is beautiful, clean, comfortable and well located. Despite being high season, the attention and service was impecable. It's a hotel that makes you feel that you are really on vacation, it inspires you!
- Roving18706421596 (10/5): Great experience at this hotel - Casaluna Hotel Boutique was a very nice hotel. The employees were very helpful and polite. The rooms were nice and big. We stayed in a suite with a terrace so it was nice to have our continental breakfast outside. Great size tub but the only thing was it took forever to fill because it did not have a faucet. The location of the hotel was great, close to everything.
- PizzaStevesGF (10/5): Amazing location. Amazing Hotel - This was the cutest hotel. The location was close to everything we could need. They had free valet parking but parking on the street would not have been an issue. The staff was kind and the place was so clean. My only issue was the wifi did not work while we were there.
- Luis (8/5): - Surroundings are nice
- Edgar (8/5): - A hotel with a lot of potential. Just needs to work on details to make it perfect. Mostly amenities that can make a difference for many.
- David (4/5): The term “boutique”, in the instance, means rustic. - Nearby club music went on until 4 or 5 a.m, making it impossible to sleep. For two guests there were 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel and a bath mat with a nickel sized hole in it. The hotel provided WiFi service but failed to provide the information to use it. There was an evaporative cooler in the room as a substitute for air conditioning but there were no instructions for use.
I cannot recommend this hotel in good conscience. I stayed in a high end hotel in Guadalajara for the same amount of money.
- ERNESTO (4/5): Not a boutique hotel - The room has was is a Second level with stairs só carrying luggage was uncomfortable.
The hotel has no internet service in the room and no food service, not even a coffee.
A lot of light in the room so early .this shouldn’t be classified as a boutique hotel !
- Ted (6/5): - The entrance area was great, but after that it was sad. No coffee in the morning or to make coffe in room. Room really stuffy at night. I stayed an extra night by mistake and they charged me $160!!!
I woudnt recommended this place.
The room is lacking in all respects.
- luis (10/5): Love the place - Love the place . Old colonial mexican feel. People were great hosts . Plenty of areas to gather with friend and close to old town
- marksM5113YJ (2/5): Unresponsive - My wife and I found this hotel tired, understaffed, and way oversold at a "boutique" hotel. . Despite their claims, don't expect to find someone who can speak English. Don't expect their advertised free parking, and don't expect one of their staff to meet you at the front when they say they will be there, and certainly don't expect them to bring your car at the appointed time. Also, don't expect the bathtub in your room to have a drain plug, and be prepared to not be able to access your room due to maintenance. We booked a three-night stay, but after about an hour of disappointment, we went to another hotel. We were more than willing to pay for the first night, but sought a refund for the second and third nights based on the 24-hour cancellation policy. After several days of trying, even Hotels.com's customer service department was unable to reach anyone at Casaluna to address our request.
- Ana (10/5): - The staff went beyond to make our stay pleasant.
- Leticia (6/5): - our stay at Casa Luna was OK it is not the greatest does not have restaurant or parking on site. however it was nice that is close to the city center.
- Cynthia (6/5): - This is not the old Casaluna..Now there is no breakfast.
No one at reception spoke English. The girls at the desk were nice but they would have a greater career value if they were bilingual. We missed the interactions with other travellers that occurred at the breakfast when it was a B&B.
The room was clean and the bed was great. We wished for CNN or MSNBC on the TV...
The hotel was fairly priced.
- Travel-memorieslife (8/5): Good option - Lovely hotel. Beautiful grounds and within walking distance to all the tourist attractions, restaurants and bars. Very secure. Clean. Staff are pleasant and speak English. My room was towards the front garden area as you entered. The curtains didn't fully close so people could see through if I was changing! The room was quite chilly especially at night. Otherwise, this is a good option.
- larry (10/5): San Miguel DE Allende - The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions I asked about restaurants or transportation. The front desk arranged airport pickup and departure. Covid masking guidelines were in place and adhered to by the staff.
- Miguel (8/5): - We liked how modern it looked and comfortable bed. Shuttle services was not there for pickup at airport. Staff at front desk didn't received comment about Shuttle very well.
- Alan (10/5): - Very charming property. The staff was very attentive to any request or need we had. We had a very enjoyable stay.
- Alan (4/5): - The service was poor, not wifi, not service for transportation, we didn’t have a phone on our room, the reservation lady was at some point rude.
- Hector (10/5): Superb Hotel, Superb location, Superb town - The Hotel was amazing, very beautiful and the room very spacious. It was just about two blocks away from the plaza, very convenient and well located.
I would go back to this Hotel, super loved it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property!
- Lisa (8/5): - Old. Charming. Easy walking distance to places. A little bit more rugged than expected, but still pleasurable.
- Andy (6/5): - No room internet, no food facilities, no parking close to site, to far away
- Olga (6/5): - Quaint and picturesque property. The room was large, the decor was pleasing, and the king size bed was very comfortable. Lots of natural light. The only issues were the staff and the limited hotel amenities. The gentleman at check-in was friendly, but not very informative - seemed preoccupied. The lady at check-out was unfriendly and pretentious. She tried to charge me for the stay without verifying my room # and identity, even though my stay had been pre-paid. She only said "Oh" once she realized the mistake and failed to apologize for her insistence that I pay.
- Araceli (10/5): - Great place to stay in San Miguel de Allende
- Diana (10/5): - We enjoyed this place, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It has a great location, and they offer services like airport transfer with a very competitive fees.
- Farah (10/5): - This hotel is over 100 years old. It has a rustic feeling. It was clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Jose (8/5): - Property is charming and in good condition, plus location is great.
I would've liked to have a coffee maker or at least a coffee service in reception.
Internet service was really bad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice location. Nice hotel. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were there for my husband’s birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They were super accommodating and friendly and definitely cater to everyone needs. Paola was amazing and ensured we were happy with out stay and managed all of our activities and dinner reservations. The place was a loving and magical house. You definitely feel like you are in a resort. Will definitely be back.
- GsandovalB (2/5): False advertisement -DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS !!!! - Did 1/5 because it won’t let me do 0 stars! Had a 1 night reservation at this hotel which clearly stated “FREE CANCELLATIONS” had to cancel and the hotel declined our refund and took our money! The staff was not understanding of the situation after explaining why I had to cancel my travel plans they changed their stories over the phone as to why we couldn’t get our full refund. according to them we got a “special deal - pay now and save” turns out it is not CLEARLY stated on the reaevartion that is you opt for this option you can’t get a refund and they will ignore the part that clearly states FREE CANCELLATION up to 5 days before arrival date (we cancelled about 1 month in advance).. don’t make reservations here !!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very beautiful place. It feels like you're walking into an old mansion. Room was very nice for being a standar room for the price. Nice colonial feel to it. All the staff were awesome and helpful no complaints at all about this hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to downtown, beds and pillows confortable,
- Maryam (6/5): It’s very average hotel nothing great about it - This is a very average hotel nothing special about it. The rooms were clean the hotel is walking distance about 10 minutes to most of the restaurants and cafés. Overall very very average hotel nothing great about it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff is amazing and rooms are very spacious and clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice, clean place. Great price and awesome location.
- gloria (10/5): Beautiful and accesible - Perfect distance from
Plaza. Beautiful view, easy check in, friendly staff, safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very rustic decor, beautiful gardens, very secure and wonderful staff.
- Lucie (8/5): Good location but service just ok - The room was comfortable although a bit noisy since we were on the main floor with only a window wall separating from the courtyard. Free Valet parking is a big plus. The next door neighbors had a major fight in the middle of the night and there was nobody from the staff to ask them to be quiet. The major problem was that the staff spoke very little English (or not at all). I was able to communicate with my rusty Spanish but I found it a bit surprising since this city is very touristy.
- HockeyMij (8/5): Hidden Fortress - Very beautiful property right where you need to be, close to the Jardin.
The room was HUGE! Had the Junior Suite which is in the back of the house. Ample patio space throughout, including a private balcony patio. No issues with hot water at all.
There is no breakfast, or restaurant for that matter. Trip Advisor says there is, but don't believe it.
The staff's English was hit or miss, but I got by.
- Alohagm (10/5): Don’t hesitate... book here! - What a gorgeous surprise of a hotel. We LOVED our room with vaulted brick ceilings and charming courtyard view. The location is awesome, walking distance to the main square and sights. I was hesitant to book bc it was so affordable compared to other places, but I certainly made the right choice. And did I mention the bed and pillows were amazing? The best pillows we slept on in Mexico! Great value. Great spot. Great ambience. Book it! Oh... and if you want the vest massage of your life, have the sweet desk help book you an in room massage. We were so impressed we booked another round of 60 min before our departure!
- carlosdJ8159NT (10/5): AMAZING HOTEL AND SERVICE. - Our stay at Casaluna Hotel was AMAZING! Everything was perfect. The room was huge and super clean, great and big bed.
But who really is the star there is the receptionist/concierge, Angelica. I contact her before getting there just to check some stuff and since the beginning she was the best.
I truly recommend this hotel.
- Carlos (10/5): - Our stay at Casaluna Hotel was AMAZING! Everything was perfect. The room was huge and super clean, great and big bed.
But who really is the star there is the receptionist/concierge, Angelica. I contact her before getting there just to check some stuff and since the beginning she was the best.
I truly recommend this hotel.
- Liz (10/5): - Angelica was the best, great customer service. Made my trip super convenient
- Patrick (10/5): - Todo bien en el Checkin muy amables y eficientes, además me sentí seguro con los protocolos Covid
- Maryury (10/5): - Excelente atención, lugar muy tranquilo para pasar la noche, súper recomendado
- Claudia (8/5): - Beautiful, clean and extremely rustic. Windows are thin, no a/c so you can hear everything outside your room. If you were driving it is extremely difficult to drop off your luggage because It is a one-way street extremely difficult to find parking and it is a busy street. Extremely congested and super tight so if you do find a parking spot and you are parallel parking you are having all the cars to wait until you finish parking.
- Manuel (8/5): - My only recommendation would be to add an optional fan to the room. I understand the whether is great for locals. But it was a little hot for me.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very reasonably priced and right in the heart of the old city so very convenient for walking to all the sights
- Nica (10/5): - Casaluna is a beautiful property located just a few blocks form the center of town. Our room was spacious and our bed was super comfortable. We had a car and the free valet parking was an added bonus.
- Jess (8/5): - Very charming hotel. Service was great and they were very nice! The receptionist had good suggestions for what to do during our stay and was very polite. Only complaint would be that we had a room that was right by the courtyard and so we could hear noise at night. Footsteps and normal tone talking was audible due to the thin glass and metal door. Not sure if every room has this issue. Also some construction was happening nearby and there was some noise early morning as well. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay!
- aaronlt84 (10/5): Nice boutique hotel, great hospitality - Very nice, large rooms, great breakfast included with room rate. Angelica was great arranging our transportation to the airport in advance and helping with any questions we had. The rest of the staff was wonderful, and clearly enjoy taking care of their guests. I'd love to visit San Miguel de Allende again, and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Casaluna.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pretty hotel but very poor wifi service. I needed to use the wifi, but it was only weakly available near the reception area. There was no wifi in my room which prevented me from doing my work. I've stayed in many hotels in Mexico, some not as nice as this, and they've all had better wifi. I'm not sure why Casaluna doesn't offer good wifi service.
- bryn (8/5): Fine place to stay in San Miguel - This is a comfortable hotel that had a much needed heater. The breakfast is outdoors and not till 8:30 am. People were wrapped in blankets. It’s a good location. The staff was very cordial.
- estellamah (10/5): Tropical Feel - Very nice boutique hotel especially for the price. Breakfast was very reasonable. Friendly staff, they called taxi for is by phone, they gave good advice about purchasing our bus tickets by going to the station the prior day (bus ticket booking was not working online). Large clean room (a little sitting area and a fireplace inside our room, although I’m not sure if it actually works, we didn’t need it). Our room had windows all around, this gave it a tropical feel.
- keithberkley (6/5): - I really wanted to love this property. The decor and style are top notch. The rooms are super nice and design is really something to behold, until you look closer. The vanities used to be tile, until someone painted right over the tile. The shower in the suite was super weak, near impossible to wash long hair, and the temperature was either hot or luke, but tough to adjust. There was mismatched tile and most of the fixtures showed signs of hard water. They just need to invest in some upgrades. Most of the staff was great.
On our last day since we had a 8 pm flight out of Leon, we asked if we could check out of two of the 3 rooms we had, store our luggage, and pay for 2 additional hours ($800 pesos) no problem. so we could use the restroom after walking around San Miguel. We had no problem paying and they would still get the room with an hour before check in, so they had plenty of time to clean.
Then we were told by the manager that it was not possible as they had people checking into these rooms right away. 3 pm check in? It was 10:00AM, we would give them two rooms for 5 hours before check in. But no, that would not do. They made it seem like the new guests were waiting in the lobby. Nobody was there. We were frustrated to say the least as we were on our way out the door and had all the luggage in 1 room, not we had to shower and check out, leave all our stuff in an open room with no door or lock. At 4PM, as we left, not one room had been checked into.
- willie2 (4/5): Meh... - A tired old hotel. You can tell that at one time it was very elegant but now it has seen better days. There was paint chipping off, the beautiful tiles in the bathroom had been painted over with epoxy paint and was now beginning to wear off. Toilet would continuously run, unless you jiggled the handle after each use. Breakfast that was provided was the same two options each day. Eggs or chiliquetos. We opted to eat elsewhere after the first couple of days. Coffee provided only with breakfast.
- Tzingote (8/5): Lovely hotel but avoid breakfast! - Casa Luna is a charming property.
Location: on Quebrada Street, very central on a quiet street, it is the only hotel or restaurant on that street. Very peaceful. Easy walk to the Jardin or main square.
Public areas and reception: beautiful gardens and courtyards, but for some reason looks underused. Welcoming was adequate but not warm. They were not excited or happy to see me... No smile or handshake, kind of.. OK... another tourist. Please, show done soul and personality!
Rooms: spacious, beautiful, very comfortable bed (a real King) , excellent pillows, lots of storage space and a safe. Flat TV.
Bathroom, very charming and functional and good water pressure.
Breakfast was a disaster, warmish coffee, cold and dry toasts, lukewarm fried eggs, nice refried beans... The fruit plat was sooo old that the papaya was translucent and the watermelon slimy. I complained and the waiter could care less. NO REACTION, NO APOLOGIES. I didn't eat it and went out and had a great breakfast in Luna de Queso. Yes, I paid almost twice they charge on the hotel, but it was quality. No wonder the public areas are deserted, there's no proper catering. On departure, I told the receptionist about the breakfast bad experience and he did not charge me.
Summary: charming property with lots of character, good location and excellent rooms but avoid breakfast. Better go to "Mi Bistrot 300" is very close and wonderful fir breakfast.
- Jose (6/5): - The location was decent. The hotel is a short walk from the main plaza. The room was large and comfy. The biggest draw back was the customer service. The clerk in charge of check in is a rude man. He does not know the meaning of hospitality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Internet was very weak, came and went, and was very slow.
- William (6/5): Vacay in SMA - Our room was large and clean however our bed was kind of lumpy and the shower was very small and the shower head pointed very high so was hard to get hit with the water if you are short.
In addition we left a day early to visit another city and we let them know 48hours in advance but they did not credit our room for the last night. They said it must be 72hrs but thats not what the original paperwork said.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed in. Inside garden terraces, massive traditional Hispanic rooms, beautifil trees and very romantic. And close walk to everything in town.
- alihshaban (10/5): Very Beautiful and Romantic - This was one of the most beautiful experiences in all of Mexico. You enter to 2 beautiful gardens and it’s locked at night for security. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are heavenly. And all next to city center. A must see!
- Veronica (10/5): Very nice small hotel - Excellent hotel, the people that work at the hotel are very helpful and nice. I loved the room 209 with a very nice balcony and bathroom.
I would love to come back to this hotel when I come to San Miguel Allende.
- Leah (8/5): - It was beautiful, it truly was. The only problem was that no one spoke English, which made it difficult to find out anything about where to go or how to book a tour, etc. Also, the furniture was not the greatest. For not a lot of money, it could’ve been very elegant. But, it was still a very nice and safe place to stay. The staff were kind.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really nice hotel the room was pretty clean. Good service at front lobby.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Overall it was just fine. The TV cable didn't work. That would be my only complaint.
- Carlos (6/5): Not as nice as the pictures - The Images online are much nicer than the accommodations. Kind of musty and damp. Sink in bathroom peeling and rather shabby. The gardens were lovely and very nice. Poor directions from desk to get anywhere had us walking in circles till we got good map. The least hospitable hotel we have stayed at during our Mexico travels.
- Lubiere (6/5): Decent stay in SMA - Booked via airmiles.ca for about 98$C a night, 2 nights, all inclusive.
Arrived around 9PM, and was greeted by the security gard who checked me in my room, on the second floor...this building dates from the 1800s, I would say, somewhat colonial, with a big central garden, where the main office and kitchen his, as well as first floor rooms.
The room was big but showed its age. The bed was basically 2 beds put together...it was a bit lumpy as well as pillow. The LCD TV was smallish and had basically just Mexican channels, with some fuzziness. Big lumpy sofa. Bathroom was clean, and towels and toiletries were basic.
Had breakfast there which was basic but good...very Mexican, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, served with bread rolls, coffee, and juice. If its not included in your room, it is cheap, a la carte, less than 5$.
They did keep my luggage on the last day, aftter check out, so i could go for another walk around the city.
Overall, decent, if the price is good. Well located!
- RS (8/5): - Room did not have A/C. Property is under remodeling. Room was Okay. It is within 5min from downtown
- MirthMistress (10/5): - Beautiful property in great location. Quiet and comfortable. Great value. Breakfast only has two options but I was happy with my selection.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Construction next door. Hammering with a mallet sounded like it was in the bathroom 7 days/ week 8-6pm. This was the “Master Suite “ around $140/night incl. tax so we expected something better. Other issues were
Bathroom tiles painted over and peeling. Old pipes visible through paint, same for the sinks. Recessed bath tub in floor a fall hazard, tub drain backed up leaving a layer of stink. Part of bathroom inaccessible due to tub location. Shower small and tiles rough with black mold. Towel rails bent. Closet unfinished with clothes rail about 8’ high. Roof leaked in various locations. Something had eaten bottom of bed. Fireplace torn out with exposed pipes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel, great location very close to town center and restaurants and shops. Negatives are no AC, room was warm but they did provide fan. Shower made a terrible noise that sounded like the pipes were going to explode and there ws a leak that dripped out of the tall tub onto bathroom floor making it extremely wet
- Deborah (10/5): Beautiful property wonderful boutique feel. - Travel agent reviewing hotels for return group trip. I loved this property. It’s quaint, classy and very safe and secure.
- 3CarrieM3 (10/5): Second time and will keep coming back! - Excellent location - far enough away from crowds and too much noise (except for nearby construction) but close to EVERYTHING. Walk to Hecho en Mexico or Rosewood in less than 10 minutes, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants are everywhere but you have a private cove. Second time here and the price is ridiculous for such an incredibly comfortable and beautiful room. I highly recommend this spot. There's a roof deck that I didn't know about the first time - check it out - it's on top of a couple of the front rooms (facing Quebrada). I hear the breakfast is excellent as well, and super affordable.
- faviola (10/5): - The best
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location! Has a beautiful garden. They have valet parking and customer service that makes everything perfect. It can get hot in SAN MIGUEL AND NOT ALL ROOMS HAVE A/C, for the most part in my room I asked for a fan and it cooled the room nicely but would be nice to have A/C. Also the towels and sheets were clean but I think it's time to change them for new ones. I would love to go back and stay here again. I think it is one of the best hotels in the area no question about that! I would highly recommend it you will not be disappointed.
- Beverly (10/5): Location location location - The hotel was in the perfect location for a walking city. We walked to the city center, to restaurants, etc.
FUN!
- Guillermo (8/5): relax day - excellent room and good location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property is no more that 1 and haffe Start
- Larry (8/5): - Very good location. Valet parking in necessary because it would be problematic to acquire your own parking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location in walking distance to everything. Beautiful property, however our first night was sleepless. We knew there was no AC, but there was no fan either, ceiling or floor fan. It was very hot and muggy and with the windows open we could hear everything and everyone including the front property door buzzer which rang continuously through the night. At 2am someone was at our door with a flashlight - an older man/worker we presumed (?). Then we were awoken at 7:24am by loud construction work happening on the property next door. Who then wants to have the included breakfast in the courtyard listening to power tools? We tried to change rooms but none were available.
On the flip side, the room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We asked for and were given a floor fan which helped tremendously. The bathroom was large but in need of TLC and only allotted ONE wash cloth per day for two guests.
For the reasons above, I would not recommend this property to a friend until perhaps the next door property construction is complete.
- Claudio (10/5): Beautiful place - We loved the hotel. It was clean, close to various amenities and beautiful
