- Lisa (6/5): - We came down for breakfast the first morning and there wasn’t any food in the warmer
The last morning there was the same Breakfast wasn’t what was expected
They didn’t bring towels or empty trash
It was a very clean and nice place just wish mornings were better
- Megan (10/5): -
- Cynthia (10/5): - Friendly and very clean
- Danny (7/5): -
- Kenneth (5/5): - We never stayed We never stayed
- Jeff D (9/5): A pleasant stay at the Garner Hotel in Gonzales TX - Clean, comfortable and quiet. Housekeeping forgot a few of their details like filling soap and shampoo dispensers and supplying enough towels before the guests arrived.
- Andre (10/5): -
- Jeff D (10/5): Visiting Gonzales County - Friendly, helpful staff. Nice large room No cups in the room
- Isaia (3/5): One word. DONT! Go across the street. - The only thing good about this property… I can’t even think of one. The bugs all over the restroom.
There was no remote to the tv, which I asked the front desk and they never brought me one.
First bedroom I got had DIRTY SHEETS! The bed hadn’t even got new sheets. There was other people hair and Cheeto crumbs. It was insane.
- Christine (1/5): Worst experience and will never stay there again. - Nothing The management did not want to honor the reservation I made eight months earlier. We had to sit around for three hours before they let us in the room. When I checked out they tried to charge me again even though I had prepaid the room. They said they would call the police if I didn’t pay. I left and told them to sort it out with Booking.
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- Erica (5/5): The STAFF is the only reason I stayed. - The staff was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. I encountered some issues with insects in my room, and I must admit, the cleanliness was not up to par. Furthermore, I found the provided spray to be less than satisfactory, and the elevators were also out of service.
- Yolanda Saenz (5/5): I think they don't really have internet - Location and room were good No internet and couldn't watch netflix....nor anything on tv. Had to find a place to watch the Canelo fight that night. Frustrating
- Fernando (6/5): - Decent area , hotel needed some TLC in rooms
- Melisa (6/5): - Room was clean, bed was ok. Room had a musty smell, I brought spray though. Breakfast was very sparse. There were 7 of us and they had 4 pieces of sausage, maybe 1 cup of milk(they refilled), a small amount of bacon, no oatmeal. I would stay again just not plan on breakfast.
- Sylvia Gutierrez (9/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): - Nice stay in Gonzalez
- Richard Candace (6/5): - Good place to stay when you dont want to do a turn around
- KARL (10/5): - The GM Pratik was very help full so was the Crew very clean and comfortable
- Gloria (10/5): Great stay at Garner - Breakfast was great. Monica the desk clerk was friendly and very gracious. Room AC was nice and comfortable. Room were excellent clean, large tv, and very safe environment.
- Maverick (10/5): -
- Alok (6/5): - Overall the experience was ok !! Hot lobby and hallways. Rooms were excellent. Had to struggle to get the TV on because their Internet was out.
Walked down from the room for breakfast at 6:55 AM on September 14 and waited till 7:30 AM. No breakfast no Employee no attendant. Had to leave in frustration. They had a sign upfront that the employee will return in 10 minutes.
- Cecilia (10/5): - Friendly staff. Made breakfast and was freshly made when we ate. Cleanliness
- Julie (4/5): Don’t bother, you will be disappointed. - The hotel appears to be updated, however, service and amenities are severely lacking.
Apparently a large number of construction workers use this hotel as a base and they leave their dirty work boots and socks in the hallways.
We reserved a queen room and got a full. Our refrigerator stopped working and we had to throw all our food away. We notified front desk our toilet wasn't working on day 2 and never got any assistance. Breakfast was posted from 6:30-9:30, by 7am the breakfast was completely empty and never refilled. When it became empty, it seems the front desk clerk would hide so he would not have to address the situation. on the 3rd day we went down at 8am, and found the breakfast empty again and the front desk clerk was actually there, he said you are quite late did you want something to eat? Again, breakfast was posted 6:30-9:30, but no food. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for cleanliness.
- Jan (6/5): - Well, I wanted to be fair so here goes: price is alright. Location was perfect for what we needed. Cons: we booked this hotel in part for the breakfast but.....every time we went to see if there were any hot items (eggs, bacon etc) There was nothing available....on one occasion more was brought 30 minutes after we came down for coffee. There was some fruit, froot loops, milk and a bit of bagels. If the breakfast will be spotty or dismal, better not to offer it. At least there was coffee 24/7.
The tables in the kitchen area were not cleaned until our second day, the carpet in our room had some stains and the refrigerator was full of a previous guest's left behind food -which tells you often they clean the rooms- and the caulking around the tub was black (we tried to tell ourselves, it was just an older tub and at least they cleaned the frig after we asked)
We had to ask for a do not disturb sign for our room twice before we got one and the manager put it on the wrong door (he had to go look for one in order to accomodate the request)
The bright star was Marina -she cleaned everything thoroughly -chairs, tables, coffee machine and she was super sweet. If this place had four Marinas then it would probably be a 5 star review. Small hotel, small town, yes, but you'd think the place would be cleaner as a result.
Needless to say, we wouldn't stay here again or recommend to anyone else. I'd drive a lot farther for a cleaner experience.
- Juanita (10/5): I will definitely be back and will recommend your hotel. - I lie the fact that they had breakfast. And I liked the room period. It as so comfortable and peaceful. I really didn't dislike anything. I will make a suggestion on putting a pool in the back by the patio. That is the only thing that I can say thos place needs. Customer service on point rooms super clean and fresh. Location perfect 👌.
- Robin (6/5): - It was quiet. There was a hole in the wall above the bed that was covered with tissue instead of completely fixed. Towels had stains and one had holes. There was no ice bucket or way to get ice. The eggs cooked for breakfast were horrible, not even edible. I had a bagel and banana. I checked out early and ate elsewhere. When I checked in, the gentleman at the desk was kind enough to carry my bags upstairs as the elevator was not working.
- Kotrena (10/5): -
- Ruby (1/5): - The elevator was out toilet wasn’t working Ac was broken
- Timothy (8/5): - No lamps. Lighting in the room was too harsh.
- Idalia (8/5): - Ii reserved a room for 4 and there was only 2 towels?
- Nancy (9/5): Enjoyed our stay. - Staff was great and very helpful. Shower drain needs work in room 102, and no towel racks.
- Sheryl (6/5): - Elevators not working - breakfast juice machines not working- one light in room- but if you need a bed & a shower it works
- Lampkin (5/5): Passable -
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - No
- Dawn (2/5): Bad - There were not enough towels. There was no breakfast, just waffles alone. There were no coffee cups or coffee stirrers. Staff went and bought some after the second day of our stay. The staff was friendly but didn’t really care if we didn’t have the things we needed.
- Allgood (2/5): Not Good...At All. - The location is good. They were finishing up a remodel on the hotel. Boxes all over the lobby, art stack all over the check-in counter, no breakfast even though it was advertised at booking and the serving area looked to be complete, exterior garbage cans were overflowing all 3 nights we were there. The room...floor hadn't been cleaned, tissue holder was empty, only soap provided was a bottle of hand soap, towels were stained, dust on furniture, no coffee maker, a/c was loud, our key stopped working several times. The hotel was booked and we had to park in a fire zone while others had to park in the grass. Overall, not a good experience.
- Simona (1/5): Bad -
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (2/5): - I arrived and was given a room key- however my room was occupied. I was then given a different room, no room keys. I had to have a front office person have to open my room each time. The tv was not connected, I had to connect it myself. The bathroom towel holders broke. The room I was given was also not what I paid for it was a downgrade. The building and the room were super hot. No breakfast was offered and NO PART of the hotel looked like anything in the pictures.
- Jeff (2/5): Awful 10 minute stay - 3 different card keys did not work, they finally came up and overrode the lock. Another guest had the same issue. Once inside we discovered the toilet did not flush. We were told no maintenance would be available until sometime the next day and we could use the public bathroom in the lobby. We asked for a refund, they said we had to get it from Hotels.com. We left and drove home, missing the music festival we had come to attend. When Hotels.com tried to process the refund the hotel refused, and also refused to cancel the following 2 days we had booked. We had to stop payment on our credit card.
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (6/5): - Clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Property ready for an upgrade.
- Nathan (2/5): - Switched rooms 3 times. First one wasn't cleaned yet. Second one had poop all over the outside of the toilet. And finally settled with an okay 3rd one. Wifi doesnt work. 1st and 2nd floor smelled like musty people and weed. Never booking here again. Front desk lady was great and understanding though.
- Robert (6/5): - Stayed for 7 days never got room service had to get all our towels and toilet paper ourself
- Douglas (6/5): Quick stay in Gonzales. - Stay was ok. Just a no frills hotel. Seems clean, does need new towels and wash cloths. Usually my go to place while staying in Gonzales.
- Patti (2/5): - Mattresses
- Sarah (10/5): Sonesta for the win again! - This was our second stay at this property! It was just as good as the first time. Clean and comfortable room! Will stay again!
- Lampkin (2/5): Very poor -
- Sellars (10/5): Safe - Even though they were renovating they still stayed as accomodating as possible. The lack of breakfast options and no sugar for coffee but we understood they are renovating so low on options
- Sarah (6/5): - It wasn't as advertised in the time of writing this at early 2025. We booked a small studio and there was little furniture other than the bed. When I went down at 7:30, the only "breakfast" was coffee. Still under construction and every stairway warned about it.
- Brenda (5/5): Passable -
- Lampkin (8/5): Very good -
- kevin (2/5): save your money - didnt stay the night because it smelled so strong of cleaning fluids made it impossible to stay in the room also didnt realize it was a converted microtel inn the room was a closet with a bed very small
- Maritza (8/5): - We were not told the hotel was under remodeling. Hotel staff didn’t know if breakfast would be available even if the booking said there was breakfast available. Clean but it’s the smallest queen bed room I’ve ever stayed at. Tiny.
- Renae (3/5): Will not be going again. - The lady upfront at night was very friendly and energetic. I was only given one big towel and a bunch of small towels, no remote in the room, no trash can, the curtains had weird stains on them, the pillows were super clumpy, and breakfast was very basic and limited. Not much to offer. The microwave made a weird, loud noise.
- Dan (2/5): - Under renovation. Filthy—microwave, fridge, bathroom. No toilet paper, tissues, glasses, ice bucket, wash cloths, bottled water, sundries. Night employee shrugged when I told her. I asked her what she was going to do to fix it. She gave me a roll of toilet paper and told me I should bring my own water.
- Sarah (6/5): - Was told at check-in that breakfast was from 5:30-9:00 and there was nothing when I left at 6:00 am
- Greg (2/5): Buyer Beware! - Worst experience of trip. Upon checkin the front desk if anyone with me. Told one additional adult. Front desk asked if my wife? Inappropriate question! TV in rm didn’t work so “upgrade” to a suite. One queen bed n a broken futon couch. Dirty towel hanging in closet. No clothes hangers, no wash cloths, no Kleenex, one bedside lamp that quit working, hallways n lobby area were filthy with mud clumps. Brkfst was minimal. Had to find our own cups, utensils as nothing stocked. One coffee pot was yesterday’s cold coffee. Glad it was only one night.
- Michael (8/5): - The staff at this facility were excellent and very accommodating! We had a few glitches with our room, but they weren’t dealbreakers. The property is undergoing a renovation and should be very nice once completed. The continental breakfast was so so, a little disappointing. I would stay here again if I were passing through.
- Jesse (10/5): - Slept good but only problem was they didn’t have shampoo or body soap
- Bobby (2/5): - They were in the midst of a renovation on my floor and it was loud at times. Room looked dated. Heating/Cooling unit in my room was so loud that I did not get a good nights sleep. Staff was kind and courteous. Will probably go to another hotel next time I’m in the area.
- Barbara (1/5): Very poor, we won’t be back. - Its location was near the area we wanted to see. Rooms were filthy dirty. We were told the bed would be a queen and it was actually smaller.
I called to make sure there was a continental breakfast and was told there was. When I asked what was on it (I need gluten free options) I was told that there would be eggs. Neither morning of our stay was there eggs or anything else I could eat available although that was the primary reason we picked the Sonesta.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stay was good.
- Carmen (4/5): Cockroaches! - Staff was super nice. Bed was functionally comfortable. Shower was hot!! Hotel in need of major updates. There was no soap in the bathroom. Wifi was very sketchy..never could get TV to work..could have been due to the poor wifi in the area. When I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom I was met with a HUGE dead cockroach laying on the floor of the bathroom.! Because of this I did not eat ANYTHING at the included breakfast. They only offered biscuits, eggs, and waffles .ZERO MEAT. But it didn't matter to me. I was still traumatized by the monster cockroach. I guess at this point ypu get what you pay for
- Gary (9/5): We was visiting mother who is in nursing home, the hotel was fantastic. The staff was great. - Staff were fantastic! It was very clean!
- Clint (10/5): Fear place to stay. - The hotel was alright just between the lines.
- Manda (9/5): It was a great experience, the staff were so helpful too - It was nice and clean I enjoyed my stay ! Hard to find the driveway
- Jorge (10/5): - Clean rooms
- Mark (1/5): Bad -
- Rick (4/5): Disappointing -
- Davis (7/5): Good -
- Maria (8/5): Good - Breakfast could have been better but it was worth it for the price. The eggs were not hot and the milk was just sitting in ice. I mentioned that there was some water by the receptionist area and the person acknowledged it but did not clean it up. Could be a risk to someone.
- roberto (8/5): Poorly breakfast - For breakfast, the food was very poorly presented and cold. There was a lack of variety in fruit, yogurt, oatmeal or granola.
- Lampkin (7/5): Rather than the toilet halfway working everything else went great. - All the staff was friendly The toilet half way worked.
- Jackie (10/5): - It was a great stay. Very clean. The breakfast was good too.
- Max (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrii (5/5): Passable - Dirty, clogged sink, very poor breakfast
- Manda (5/5): It was ok. But the roach did me in. - It looked nice I saw a roach in my room and we had to move rooms because lights didn’t work in first and bed was too hard.
- Joe (2/5): - This hotel is very upkept beginning with the lobby. It smells when you walk in. When i walked in my room, the room smelled so dirty. There were stains all over the furniture and all surfaces. There were stains on the mirror headboard (very gross). There was only one towel in the bathroom. There were roach carcasses on the floor. There was not one surface that was clean. I immediately went to the front desk and got my refund, and booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express across the street. This hotel is absolutely NOT what it's advertised to be.
- Curtis (2/5): - Roos had multiple lights burned out. Room was small. Bathroom was tiny no grab bar on shower. Towel rack was off the wall and screw holes not plastered.
- Monica (8/5): - The staff were wonderful and the overall comfort of the hotel was good. The room is comfortable and newly updated from a decor standpoint. The major issue was the bathroom. The sink was broken, the shower had some mold spots and the overall construction / maintenance is rough. For the price - it’s was worth it. If you are expecting 5 star for 60 bucks, you’re crazy.
- richard (4/5): - There was a cockroach in my room
- Douglas (4/5): Nice stay in Gonzales - Nice stay, friendly people. Breakfast looked terrible but Gonzales has some really good kolache places. Towels and wash cloths need replacing since seemed tattered and soiled.
- John W (4/5): - The staff was friendly and welcoming, the hotel is conveniently located right in Gonzales and the price was fair. On the downside, we had a non-working refrigerator, saw a few critters: a gecko, some crickets, and a few silverfish. The breakfast was very limited, there was no working juice or water. Our room was relatively comfortable otherwise, but it smelled slightly like mold and mildew and in the shower some vinyl wall boards were nailed in and held in place by wood trim and lots of silicon caulk. The overall maintenance of our room was poor, but my son's family was in a room that smelled cleaner, had working appliances, had a chair to sit in, and seemed to be in better repair.
- James (10/5): Clean - Clean few roaches in room no breakfast at 8 am nothing was restocked Na
- Angel (2/5): Would not stay here again - Location.
Bed was comfortable They could not find my reservation I made with hotels.com.
Made me book again through booking.com. Even though it was more expensive.
Rude
- Gregory (10/5): - Thanks
- Janie (6/5): - My stay was fine---the staff was great and the accommodation was relatively clean---but once nighttime hit bugs small and large started crawling out from behind the bed where there was a tiny gap. I ended up making it work and just sleeping at the wrong end of the bed for the night, but definitely not the most comfortable experience.
- Parma (7/5): Convenient location and comfortable atmosphere made for a good night sleep. - Comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was not refreshed - we checked twice.
- Walter (10/5): - The staff here were great. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Quiet.
I would stay there again.
- Edward (8/5): - A very nice hotel for the money. The rooms are very small and there is no recliner to sit in and watch tv.
- Ronnie (5/5): Passable -
- Ruth (4/5): - It took about 30 minutes to get checked in, because the clerk was new and she did not know what she was doing, she went to get there other lady that was there and then she came out she said that I would have to have a online reservation in order to get the room at the price that was online, I did an online reservation and got checked in, we got to the room and the toilet had all type of mushed up toilet paper in the commode and it was black, we allerted to clerk on duty and she put us in another room, that room had roaches, so we really had to check everything before we leave to make sure we did not take the roaches with us... Breakfast bar was not pleasant... Been here several times before but this was a problem with this time
- Jessica (4/5): - We had no internet there was no pool area the whole place was under renovation and was still operating.
