Guest Reviews
- Holly (5/5): Okay but a bit overpriced honestly - It smelt very damp and did not have a private bathroom
- Aurelien (6/5): - Le personnel d'accueil est très gentil. La propreté de la chambre et des espace commun était passable
Lit très mou et donc pas très confortable
- Adrian (6/5): -
- Tim (7/5): Friendly staff. Ideal for us, up to do Torridon Munroes. Basic. Heating is good. Clean. - Good, basic accommodation. Individual rooms. Small Kitchen. Single shower/WC
- Rebekah (9/5): Comfortable accommodation in a great location at a good price - Clean and warm accommodation in great location for a good price. A warm friendly welcome from the guy on the front desk of the hotel. Shared bathroom though knew that when I booked
- Edward (8/5): As above. Craig the manager was very helpfull and friendly. - Excellent locatoin . Very quite and peacefull.
- David (6/5): -
- Henry (8/5): Good location for hikers to access the numerous trailheads of the area - Easy access and good facilities It was cold inside with no heating.
- Jean (7/5): - Well-kitted kitchen and nice dining area
- Alan (8/5): -
- Aoran (9/5): -
- Professordes (8/5): Excellent value and a good base for Torridon area. - Excellent value for money and one of the few affordable accommodation options in the area. The bunkhouse has both shared and individual rooms, there are good kitchen facilities and shared shower room. The bed mattresses are a bit old and tired.
- Richard (8/5): Fine - Good for the price.
Clean overall, bathroom and kitchen satisfactory. Didn't realise the hotel was closed for the season (October to March) so couldn't get my dinner as planned.
Thin walls inside so you can hear everyone moving about
- Alan (8/5): -
- Richard (8/5): - Cheap and cheerful accommodation in the heart of the highlands, right next door to a good (if pricey) hotel if you want to eat.
- Erik (8/5): - Goed
- JEAN PAUL (7/5): -
- sandra (8/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Great location for hill walking. - Perfect location and place for hill walking. There's only one shower and toilet.
- Michal (8/5): beautiful country site location -
- Margaret (8/5): - Location very handy for catching early train. Fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Bed would look more welcoming with a colourful sheet and pillowcase instead of just mattress protector. Perhaps make it clearer you need a sleeping bag. I had one, so was OK, but surprised Ed.
- vicki (4/5): - Nothing about the bunkhouse except could to talk with fellow travellers Poor value for money, photos misrepresent the property. Not clean, no signage for the bunkhouse which looks more like an outbuilding than accommodation. Not clean or comfortable or heated.one Share bathroom for five bedrooms and no separate toilet. Door does not lock on bathroom.
- Webb (1/5): So bad I left after 1 hour of being ignored and sneered at by some unhelpful tw@. - Unfriendly, unhelpful staff, bordering on the rude.
- William (3/5): Not the best. - Own room Decor tired and felt a bit grubby. Nowhere to dry wet clothes except radiator.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Janes (9/5): Very happy with value for money and staff friendliness. - Didn’t have breakfast as Gluten Intolerant. I found your staff, Craig especially very helpful.
- Jamie (5/5): Would use again with revised expectations. - Finding out on arrival there was a small shared kitchen with fridge and cooker was very useful. Fully stocked with crockery and cutlery, and some tea bags and coffee for guests. With no carpets and thin walls sound reverberates around very easily, so if anyone else in the building is moving around or talking you will hear it. Only one toilet/shower shared between the 5 single rooms.
- Mike (8/5): Remote bunkhouse - Clean good Value and has parking All good
- faye (8/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Loved the peace and quiet! - Perfect location for a quiet getaway, quite central to many lovely hikes and munros in the area and very easily accessed.
- Elvin Limpin (10/5): - Great value for money and convenient location for a one night stay on the way to the Scottish highlands. There's a kitchen so save by bringing groceries (not a lot of nearby restaurants)
- Naveen (10/5): -
- Craig (10/5): - Cleanliness, facilities...shared... location
- Ying (9/5): - Single bedroom is cozy, with private sink. Small but useful kitchen Mattress protector a bit dirty
- Rachel (8/5): Clean, comfortable and good value for money - Very clean, easy stop over on NC500.
- Cam (10/5): Great bunkhouse - I've used this bunkhouse many times. Great value good facilities and clean. Thanks again. All good.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arpit (7/5): Good - Location is good, we stayed here while doing the NC500.
Lodge has 5 single rooms, a small kitchen and a dining room. A bit squeaky to walk towards the bathroom or kitchen, this can bother the others during night.
- Janelle (10/5): Great Affordable Option with kind staff! - It was a great affordable option for people who don’t mind sharing a bathroom & living facilities with others.
I must say the staff on reception are super lovely & genuine, he was so incredibly kind & made everything feel easy. The room is a bit cold, I’d recommend bringing warmer pjs just incase!
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The Bunkhouse was exactly what it says and did exactly what we needed for the one day stop over. Value for money. Next to the bunkhouse on the property was a manor house with excellent food and drink. I would definitely stay there again.
- Geoff (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): A great stay in a stunning location. - It has everything as it is self contained, in a great location with excellent staff. Minor issues were the plug in my sink wouldn't stay in and the bathroom lock took some getting used to. I did work it out in the end.
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (10/5): Great value for money, can’t ask for more - For what it cost it was more than adequate Couldn’t lock the bathroom door but hey that’s the person who has to look at me problem isn’t it
- Clon (4/5): It’s an “us and them” place with a grand hotel and a bunkhouse. The bunkhouse feels like an afterthought. - The location for stopover roughly midway between Gairloch and Inverness Bedding not provided but you can buy a sleeping bag- which as a cyclist I had to leave behind.
A friendly reception at the hotel
- Erin (9/5): Excellent value for money and the staff were excellent. - Staff was fantastic and always available when needed. Food was great too. The bunkhouse was a bit dated but looks like they are building new facilities.
- Hugh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fabian (9/5): Super combination of simple sleeproom and luxury stay for evrythg else - Simple but very clean, very nice staff, we could use everything from the lodge nearby including breakfast. The outer appearance of the bunkhouse is shabby but inside is fine.
- Jana (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- David (7/5): Good - Ideal for 1 night passing through. Good kitchen facilities and shared shower/toilet and a tv/dining area. Could only get bbc1 on the tv. The only problem is the thin walls, you can hear everything so if anybody is getting up early in the morning, everybody is.
- Ronald (2/5): A bed when desperate - Not much
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ralph (8/5): Very good -
- Darren (8/5): Perfect for our start of hols - Great service and friendly staf Nothing
- David (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location ideal for Munro baggers
- Robert (10/5): Great location, near Station, good parking, excellent for the restaurant and bar. single Rooms and great kitchen facili - Great location, near Station, good parking, excellent for the restaurant and bar. single Rooms and great kitchen facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. Good for meeting people. Heating and hot water work well. Don't forget to bring a sleeping bag. There are pillows but not duvets
- Simon (9/5): Good experience. Shall repeat. - First time in many years that I have stayed in a bunkhouse. No problems whatsoever! Would happily go back to Ledgowan again, and will book there later this Summer. The weather - not in their control, though....
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional - Private room All was as expected
- Richard (1/5): Bad -
- Aliya (9/5): Lovely location, friendly staff, warm place to stay - Really nice friendly staff and good communication from them. The place was clean and always warm. The bathroom is cleaned every day. There are lots of birds right outside the accommodation. The tea towels looked dirty, I think they should be changed more regularly.
- Edward (9/5): The location is stunning and facilities excellent. The manager Craig could not be more accomodating. - Comunal kitchen is very good Nothing
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Dickinson (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Superb - I’ve used this before and it’s perfect for walking in the area. Very simple set up, but clean and comfortable. Nothing to dislike, but be aware that this is a very quiet area and you will need to bring pretty much everything you need, as there are no shops etc. but this is why you come to theses places.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Professordes (9/5): Excellent place to stay. - Great option for staying in the area. Shared well-equipped kitchen (fridge/oven/microwave/cutlery/dishes/...), shower room, dining room with a table and TV. Individual rooms with bed/pillow but no bed linen. Warm and comfortable. It is in the grounds of Ledgowan Lodge Hotel, but this is usually closed in the winter months so bring supplies! Surprisingly fast WiFi considering the quite isolated location.
- David (8/5): Nice simple bunkhouse could do with new crockery and ideally a drying room - Location No drying room
- Kieran (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (10/5): Great location. Shame hotel not open for dinner. - Warm and available - self catering No towel and had to buy a sleeping bag as didn’t realise no bedding till after booking.
- Dennis (8/5): Location and good value - Good value for a solo traveller on a budget. Its basic but had fully equipped kitchen. Has parking.
- Janet (8/5): Comfortable, clean and I look forward to returning! - Everything met my expectations and I was grateful to all the other reports I read. Though no member of staff around I had my name on the door, the heating worked as per the instructions in my room and everything was self evident. Also appreciated the tea/coffee/coffee mate and stack of various condiments and dried food left in cupboard below kitchen sink. Please put a robust lock on the bathroom. There is a limit to how many Verdi arias I can whistle/hum/sing!!
- John (10/5): Professional, welcoming staff. - The location is superb with the food in the Hotel being excellent. I liked every thing.
- Brian (5/5): Satisfactory but basic. - Booked to save some money on trip, which it did. Individual room was real selling point. Noise and crowdedness. Not encouraged to do own catering in communal kitchen. Necessity of purchasing sleeping bag.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Enric (8/5): Very good - Surrounded Paradise
- Roger (8/5): Alright Bunkhouse Accomodation - The bunkhouse section of the Ledgowan Lodge is pretty basic, but then again, one selected to stay in a bunkhouse so expectations should be modest at best. There is a small shared bathroom/shower, small dining room and kitchen. It is good enough for a short stay. You can lock your room as you can be sharing up to several people staying at once. The bed is unfurnished, you need your own sleeping bag or you could buy one from the lodge if available. Without a sleeping bag, you just have a mattress. The lodge warns you about this in advance, just another forewarning. If there is a lot of people staying in the bunkhouse, the kitchen and dining room would be very small if it came to that.
- Didier (9/5): Superb -
- Roddy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Would use the bunkhouse again as it’s a great location for the NW highlands and very good value for money compared to ot - Location fantastic and private rooms good for a bunkhouse. Very small drying area which didn’t really get the job done in August so would struggle in the colder/wetter months potentially. One bathroom/toilet between 5 could be a little tight if fully booked.
- Anne (8/5): Great location - Location single room Bathroom door did not lock
- Kath (10/5): Exceptional - Had a very enjoyable stay.
Excellent facilities.
Superb restaurant at the hotel next door
- Rory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (8/5): Great value for money. Clean, comfortable and basic - Could relax and use the lounge room in the main hotel to have a beverage! The facade of the bunkhouse could do with a spruce up!
- Vincent (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Location Staff could have been more helpful
- Luigi (9/5): Superb - Friendly and kind staff
- Malcolm (8/5): It was functional - Location and easy to find
For what it was it was excellent and good value. It wasn’t what I expected and I wasn’t prepared, however that was my misunderstanding and I was able to make do.
- Raymond (7/5): Good - Clean tidy and wind and rain proof
- Judith (10/5): Most enjoyable -
- George (6/5): Good base for holidaying in North Scotland - Good base for touring in the north Shower drain was very slow to clear.
Lack of reading light/switch near bed.
Lack of interpretation/tourist material for general area.
Recycling containers could be better, re glass, paper, plastic.
- Gsac44 (6/5): Not for me - Good communication from the host. Nice quiet location. Cheap stay. No shops for 30 miles. Have to take your own quilt. Shared shower wasnt that powerful but was warm.
- Anne (7/5): Lovely hostel style accommodation in a great location - Location is excellent and good to have own room. Kitchen facilities were okay and good to have TV in dining room area. No lock on bathroom door which meant as a single lady in mixed accommodation that I did not feel entirely safe. I did report this and was informed the door is being replaced. Also there is a sign envisaging us to clean the shower after use but there was no cloth or cleaning product available. The product was then provided when reported but no cleaning cloth.
- Gary (7/5): Good value, clean, basic bunkhouse - Basic, clean, good value bunkhouse. Good location. Could do with another toilet, sharing one that's in a shower room between 8 rooms means people often need to wait
