Friendly and helpful staff, will definitely stay at Oscar’s again.
- Leon (10/5): - Nice place..
- Frances Lee (10/5): - What a great historical hotel in the heart of Ballarat. The room was up to date and the staff was helpful with our luggage. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious and the service excellent. There was no problem with parking on site, especially upon our late night return from the Sovereign Hill Aura event.
- Damon (10/5): - Great rooms and service
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great stay at Oscars - We enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely, staff helpful and restaurant was great. Karine in the dining room was fantastic. She was very attentive, pleasant and friendly.
- Tony (10/5): - Great Staff and food nice old world room, next tme would not stay in a front room as there is al lot of truck noise all night
- Madelaine (10/5): - Lovely huge bathroom, big room for king bed and a trundle! Great staff and very comfortable stay 👌

- Brandon (10/5): - .
- roo576 (10/5): 90th Birthday lunch - Last Sunday (Easter Sunday) we celebrated my dad's 90th birthday at Oscars and I cannot say just how happy and grateful we are to have chosen this venue for our little lunch celebration. Though our group was only very small (10 in the end) we had our own private room which was very lovely and nice and quiet. All the staff were fantastic and so helpful and obliging and friendly. The food (we all chose what we liked from the great menu) was delicious - everyone loved what they chose and they were happy to accommodate us bringing a cake - supplying us with everything we needed. I cannot recommend Oscars highly enough....we all loved it and even one of our party from Seaford is now planning to have her 80th birthday here next year!!! Thank you Oscars and your fabulous staff for a great lunch event. :)
- N4750KYsusant (10/5): Highly recommend - Huge clean room with high ceilings and french doors onto own balcony. Comfortable bed and huge double shower. Accommodation is on the first floor so there are stairs to climb. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and service was excellent. Staff were very pleasant. Would love to stay again. Only one small fault was the bath towels, they were well worn and in need of replacement.
- Jason (10/5): - Highly recommended
- Michelle (10/5): - Lovely property. Great room. Very comfortable bed. Unfortunately no guest laundry as noted on wotif and parking was a little difficult.
- Francis (8/5): - Excellent restaurant
- Cindy (8/5): - Clean, convenient, friendly staff.
Small room.
- Barb (8/5): - We sat in the restaurant for drinks and then ordered dinner when we were ready to eat. We could cruise along at our pace and the staff catered to our requests.
- Ken (10/5): - Great location and good dining
- Tania (10/5): - Excellent location, friendly staff, well maintained
- Lionel (10/5): - Highly recommend this hotel, wish we had more than a one night stay
- David (10/5): One night for Christmas - Christmas night stay so knew that there would be restrictions.
The hotel advised us well beforehand that there would be no reception or restaurant facilities. Communication was excellent.
Small problem with the tv remote that was easily fixed.
Very comfortable sleep.
- David (10/5): Never disappoints! - Love Oscars. Staff very attentive, friendly and helpful. Rooms always spotless and comfortable. Dined in and the food was high quality and service once again very good. Always the place to stay when I’m in Ballarat
- john (6/5): - We stayed 2 nights in Room 1 which had a rattling A/C unit which ruined our sleep during a hot night on our first night.
Also when we had dinner downstairs which was fantastic we were served by a staff member who really didn’t enjoy serving customers was so grumpy and disinterested but what we had to eat was fantastic and when we come again to Ballarat we may come back, if only for the food.
Sadly car parking is first in first serve for hotel guests, which was inconvenient being that there was some doggy youths frequenting the area. Would be nice if the rooms had cereal bowls but as a bonus the showers are amazing and have double heads for couples. We wanted to share our thoughts of our stay but no staff attend to the reception early in the morning.
- Manny (10/5): - Close to all amenities and staff were so friendly and helpful.
- Adel (10/5): - Oscars is an attractive property with a welcoming ambience. Staff provided a warm welcome and check-in was smooth. The room was very comfortable, clean, and with a lovely large spa bath. The bed was very comfortable indeed. A family celebration next day in the restaurant was superb: lovely atmosphere, delicious food, kind staff and the best birthday cake ever: a meringue roulade with crème anglaise and berries. I shall certainly stay at Oscar’s again.
- Hans (8/5): - Nice room ,good room service, very nice food
- Katrina (8/5): - It was exactly what I needed but for the price, I feel there could have been more. It would have been nice if I could’ve gotten a table for dinner instead of eating in my room.
- Jane (10/5): - Having eaten at Oscars before, and knowing the beautiful food and service it provides it was a good opportunity to try out their accommodation. No surprises the service and quality was equally great. There is a difference between providing a service and providing hospitality and the team at Oscars have the second one nailed.
- Pamela (8/5): - Friendly staff
Convenient location
Lovely dinner
- Simon (10/5): Elegantly classic comfort - Such an amazing classic country town hotel with beautiful decor, high ceilings and conveniently close to everything. The food in the restaurant on site is top class and very good value! Will stay again!!
- Aishwarya (10/5): - The stay at Oscar's was amazing. You get to experience the heritage value of Ballarat while also enjoying luxury and comfort. I travelled solo and stayed for 2 nights - felt absolutely safe in this hotel. The restaurant also serves great food and drink options.
- Scott (8/5): - Great weekend stay
- Stephen (8/5): - Greta stay. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Good location in centre of town. Team were very helpful. Dinner was good
- Michael (10/5): - Very enjoyable stay. Spacious room. Wonderful restaurant..
Central location. Would definitely stay again.
- allan (10/5): - Even if i didn't stay at Oscar's I would have went for dinner or lunch. Table service by the staff is 5 * and a beautiful ambience without paying exorbitant price's. Do yourself a favour and stay a couple of nights.
- Meredith (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay at Oscars
Beautiful meal as well
- Jen (8/5): - The bed was very comfortable beautiful sheets, needed a smaller pillow to sleep they were too high. The room location in the building was very noisy above venue room and the st noise on both nights not enjoyable
- Peter (10/5): - The only negative is the reserved parking at rear is usually taken up by non guest dining in the bistro area.
- Lana (10/5): - Beautiful venue, well appointed room with excellent bathroom facilities. Many dining options available. Walking distance to town centre.
- Monty6345 (10/5): Perfect location & Great staff. Loved our room 14 - From the moment of booking directly with the hotel it was smooth as. Communication was really good, Fiona was superb along with all the other staff we came into contact with.
Room 14 has its own private deck, sure it looks over the carpark, but wait till sunset. This room has the best double shower we have seen. It has put pressure on renoing the home one.
Will definitely stay again, came up for the photo benienal. See you again in 2025.
- Anita010203 (10/5): Fantastic place to eat, drink and sleep. - Fantastic location, but, the staff were outstanding. I was greeted by Abby, who was so helpful and friendly.
I had lunch, dinner and breakfast there and all meals were outstanding. Alex, Daniel and Alicia served me and nothing was a problem, their attention to detail was excellent. The staff were always smiling.
The room was very well appointed.
- Jennie (10/5): - Great for a short stay and the dining was great
- Brett (10/5): - We will stay again
- Glen (10/5): - Nice clean property with a wonderful restaurant. The Eye Fillet steak was fabulous. Cooked to perfection - medium rare.
- sue (8/5): - Great location, as we were informed very noisy Saturday night till 12. No good for light sleepers or going to bed early..
- Escape08934577827 (2/5): Go elsewhere - Noisy function venue with accommodation upstairs, uncomfortable bed, tiny cold dingy room with no storage. No mention of disruptive noise in rooms prior to our stay or at check in. Spoke to duty manager, didn’t really care or offer any recompense. Accommodation parking taken up by restaurant patrons so no available parking on site…can only imagine reviewers giving this place 5 stars are used to camping. I’ve been on more comfortable school camps! You’ve been warned!
- Tova (8/5): - Oscars is a lovely, tastefully renovated old art deco building that houses a large restaurant, bar, function rooms as well as accommodation - upstairs. I arrived exhausted after a very long day & with a very heavy suitcase & a bad back - I recalled the booking website had said there was no lift, but didn’t realise all the rooms were up a staircase. I was not thrilled. But no problem - the delightful young girl at check-in arranged for the barman to take my case up. GREAT service that continued my entire stay. That same lovely young lady was there to check me out & brought my case down herself. She was so sweet & accommodating. 10 stars to her for such hospitality!
There’s on site parking (a little hard to navigate exiting though if you have a big car & the car park is full). The room was huge, nicely decorated & warm thanks to the split system. And there was ROOM SERVICE with full restaurant menu - fabulous! The pizza was delicious, hot, fresh, well presented & delivered quickly. The huge bathroom had a spa bath (a little dated with a few cracks & missing jets, but very clean). Plentiful hot water, lots of towels & bathing products. The bed was just sooooo comfy! There’s fantastic blockout type blinds & drapes that kept it really dark for sleeping & the road noise wasn’t too bad considering it’s on a main road & didn’t disturb me at all with earplugs.
I left next day refreshed after a really lovely stay made perfect thanks to the stellar service. I’ll be back for sure
- Genevieve (8/5): - Very nice hotel with character. Central location, friendly and helpful staff. Room is comfortable.
- Sebastian (10/5): Awesome place to stay - Outstanding place to stay. Central and convenient. staff are always great and the rooms are super comfortable. The bathrooms are amazing
- Jacqui (10/5): - Great staff , fabulous food , comfy bed and loved the tv in the bathroom ! Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - we had a lovely stay at the Oscar..beautiful clean, cosy room
- AnthonyN255 (10/5): Top class accom - Well located hotel in the centre of Ballarat close to all attraction. The art deco hotel has been updated but keeps it's chacter.Fabulous room with quality fittings including spa bath. Very obliging staff and a great restaurant.
- Amber (6/5): - The room was nice and well presented however right before staying they released an email stating on fri/sat nights they can have functions and music can be heard. Music was loud until midnight followed my a loud staff cleanup (bottles thrown in bin etc), when we had to be up at 5am the next day. Not what was expected especially with the price of the rooms. There was also visible dust floating in the air of the room in the sunlight that looked like steam there was so much of it. Having allergies this wasn’t great. Staff were lovely however.
- belinda (10/5): - Amazing service. Great staff.
- Craig (10/5): Great Service & Location - Great location, friendly & the food is great.
Close to all restaurants in the area.
- Julie (6/5): - Convenient and service
- Juan (8/5): - Location
- Roger (8/5): - Great Location and quiet rooms
Lack of breakfast option was disappointing
- peter (10/5): - Clean elegant art deco rooms and great food
- Inez (8/5): - The hand rail for the towels in the ensuite is very poorly fixed to the wall and it once fell off completely.
- D'Arcy (10/5): - Always a pleasure to stay with. Central location. Clean and tidy rooms.
- John (8/5): - Lovely and clean rooms
Close to city centre
- PeterJohnAnderson (10/5): What a great place to stay! We needed a place to stay for a week to cover a family wedding and Xmas/New Year visit. - Oscar’s was recommended because of its central location. Well the location is perfect. We were lucky enough to get room 14 which is a large room with a very nice bathroom, an extremely comfortable king size bed and (to our surprise) a large balcony (a great spot for a relax and a glass of wine). Oscar’s has a café dining room with all day service. The staff are very good. Highly recommended.
- Geoff (2/5): - Possibly the worst sleep ever. With with neighbouring air conditioning running all night.
- Asad (8/5): - Staff and room were great
- Michael (10/5): - A gate would be a good idear so you don't see the rubbish
- philL651 (8/5): A comfortable hotel located in the heart of Ballarat - Oscar's is a boutique hotel centrally located in Ballarat. Off street parking is available.
My room was very comfortable, and there was a very modern ensuite.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel hosts many events. On my arrival, I was warned that there was a function with live music which was due to finish at midnight. I did not find the music too intrusive.
- Craig (10/5): - Great Location, Easy on-line Check in & Free Parking, Very Busy Hospitality area Downstairs but Quiet non the less, Basic TV, No Fridge, Old Air-conditioner
- bri2985 (10/5): Great Food & Service in the Cafe Bar - The food was excellent and my partner was given a separate gluten free menu on request, as she's coeliac. The place is a lovely art deco hotel and we ate in the atrium section. Service was spot on. The menu was very varied, with plenty of options.
Would certainly go back there again.
- JOHN (6/5): - Good and Comfy
No Lift
- Vthc4 (8/5): Nice but know this before you stay - Good location in the heart of Ballarat. Hotel has its own parking space. No lift so you'll need to carry luggage up and down. Noise from events below can last into the night. Room has a few surfaces to put things but they are all narrow or small. Good sized room that was clean. Shower was great.
- N2961PKmarkc (10/5): Fantastic venue. Great for celebrations. - Celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary in the long room. Staff were fantastic and very helpful. Meals were excellent. Great service and great location. Definitely would recommend this location to anyone planning a celebration.
- Stacie (10/5): - I had an emergency stay at Oscars after I had a car accident and was unable to leave Ballarat. The staff were incredibly accommodating in helping me out with all the little bits and pieces such as a phone charger that I didn’t have due to the unexpected circumstances. I had and I feel it steak in the restaurant, it was fantastic! Really enjoyable experience in what was a terrible set of circumstance
- Georgina (10/5): - We had a very comfortable stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Ian (10/5): - Was overal great place to stzy very comfy bed

- Paradise60860185922 (10/5): Perfect Location, Outstanding Service - We walked in looking for a room and dinner. Fiona at reception immediately took the time to take us upstairs and show us the range of rooms available. Very friendly, cheerful & professional. We chose a room facing away from the street and it was perfect, very quiet, well appointed, comfy bed, warm and with fast wi-fi. Dinner was excellent, good choice of drinks and Brett was outstanding, taking the time, more than once, to recommend things to do in & around Ballarat based on our time-frame. Every one of them great recommendations. Off-street parking was available. Will stay again,
- Christine (10/5): - Will stay again soon. Lovely room, friendly staff, excellent restaurant.
- Paul (10/5): - Will stay there again! Staff were friendly…..
- aussipom1 (10/5): Perfect location, modern well equipped rooms, great food & the BEST service - Oscar's is a lovely old Art Deco hotel which has been modernised while retaining some features. The meal & service were second to none (including a better know larger hotel round the corner), staff are incredibly accommodating. The rooms and premises were impeccably clean and upstairs was super quiet. Located right in the heart of Ballarat, it was an easy walk to all the things you would need. My next visit to Ballarat will be planned further ahead to see that I can secure a balcony room. Highly recommend a visit to Oscar's whether staying over or looking for somewhere with great food!
- X6749WLpaulb (10/5): Outstanding Service - We stayed at the hotel on Saturday night, we attended a family function held there. It is a lovley old pub with great atmosphere. I was very happy with the standard of service provided to us. The young manager by the name of Brett Pemberton was outstanding. He could do enough for us on arrival at at the function. The rest of team were also very good but Brett was a standout. Lovely get away pub.
- Steven (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent place to stay. Restaurant was fantastic. They also upgraded our room.
- Vicky (10/5): - Great Place to Stay, Eat & Relax
Room was very clean & comfy.
Staff were all great & very friendly, nothing was a bother.
Staff looked very happy, they obviously enjoy working there. We had an afternoon Snack, Dinner and Mothers Day Breakfast could not fault the food or service.
Well done everyone.
- Chris (8/5): - Great location. Staff excellent
- Emily (8/5): - Perfect location to be able to walk around the Main Street of Ballarat. Would certainly stay here again on Anzac Day eve for the dawn service.
- Tanya (10/5): - Stayed one night. Nice Hotel. Would stay again.
- Romeo (10/5): - Well located hotel in the centre of Ballarat and walkable to many eating places. It has an old charm feel with high ceilings. Although the lobby feels like part of the restaurant, their friendly staff is always there to assist.
- Cassie (10/5): - Oscar’s is a lovely hotel and the team were lovely to deal with
- Richard (10/5): - We were extremely pleased with the staff, they were very friendly and accommodating. The room had everything we needed, decor was very nice and it was comfortable. Our meals in the restaurant were delicious.
We were woken early by a street sweeper and a delivery van across the road but that’s what you get when centrally located.
- Takeshi (10/5): Disappointment - My colleague stayed the same day. He spent less money but he got a better room. i was disappointed.
- Pat (6/5): Clean room - It was noisy and no breakfast the next day, staff shortages. Monday public holiday so no one was there.
- Paul (8/5): - Very small room for the price. Minimal in-room facilities and only basic TV options. As a consequence, the room was overpriced. Otherwise, a pleasant stay.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent Facilities
- Cameron (10/5): - Clean Room, great location with walking access to restaurants.
- Justin (10/5): - Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Elegant, clean, spacious room with 2 sets of double doors opening out onto big balcony.
- Jo (4/5): - I paid for a deluxe room with a bath but the bath was temporarily out of order, which was extremely disappointing. I felt that l should have been advised by the staff and that l should’ve got a discount on the room.
Went to order room service at 9.50pm but the kitchen was closed even though the on the menu it stated until late!
Lots of noise during the night.
