We were looked after by such a kind and caring set of people. We celebrated my husband’s birthday with a secluded beach bbq, which the staff went out of their way to make very special. The hotel was spotless and the food delicious. As we continue on our tour of Sri Lanka I hope we can find other gems like this. I highly recommend!
• davidlL4052FI (10/5): Uga Jungle Beach Resort has truly been magical! - Our time at Uga Jungle Beach Resort has truly been magical!! Together as a family we spent 10 days after Christmas in this resort and enjoyed every second of it; it is located in the North-East of the island in a quite remote area, one should be aware of that before traveling there, as the main attractions and tourism is down South. However, if youre looking for tranquility, excellent service, hospitable people and amazing wild life, Uga is the place. The beach is rather untouched and perfect for a stroll - if one is lucky, theres a possibility of seeing wild animals such as elephants and beautiful birds. Around the resort, with the help of Ashan, we met crocodiles, hornbys, peacocks - and monkeys seem to be insitutional inhabitants of the resort, as we have seen them everyday. The service and food was excellent - it varied sometimes and one had a good opportunity of trying everything over time - from local food to international classics like Pasta. Nipun made the food experience especially wonderful - as he was such a kind and attentive soul, we are grateful to have met him. Despite the remoteness of the Resort we still wanted to explore the island, which was no problem with the help of Ishara, who stood at our side whenever we needed assistance to plan trips, for instance to Ella or Sigiriya. Dian and Ashan accompanied us and we felt very comfortable during the trips!! To sum up, Uga Jungle Beach is a tranquil remote resort in the wilderness with the most wonderful staff. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this special time!!
• 862nipunim (10/5): A Dreamy Jungle Sanctuary! - Our anniversary stay at Uga Jungle Beach was a dreamy escape that truly felt like a private sanctuary. The location is excellent, but the highlight was the beach as it was so secluded that it felt like our own private oasis, making it perfect for us just to get rid of everyday hustle bustle and rejuvenate ourselves. We give a 1000/10 rating to the incredible staff, especially Mr. Suraj, who went above and beyond by surprising us with a dreamy, intimate starlit dinner setup by the ocean. While the cabin amenities were wonderful and high-quality, we still believe adding an outdoor bathtub would be the ultimate finishing touch to the experience. We can't thank the friendly team enough for making our celebration so unforgettable and we would without any hesitation recommend not only Uga jungle beach but the rest of the other hotels in the chain to anyone as we had an experience which was beyond what we imagined from them😍♥️♥️♥️

• Inspectorgadget99 (10/5): Lovely villa rooms in lush vegetation on the beach at peaceful Kuchaveli with Wonderful service - We thoroughly enjoyed a 2 night stay in beach villa 3, a beautiful room decorated in tropical style and all mod cons including a Nespresso machine (hard to find in Sri Lanka!). Team attended to every request from spicy curry room service and cold beers nd helping us find the cricket on the TV, to providing yoga mats and arranging a tuk tuk guide to take us to see the incredible Thiriyai Buddhist stupa (purported to be oldest in the world).. Thanks to Janithan and Duleepa and Manoj in particular for making our stay so wonderful . We had a peaceful few hours by the pool under the trees, amazing, authentic Sri Lankan food (they did other cuisines but we didn’t eat anything other than local food), we enjoyed the cocktails at the bar and the live music.

The resort is set between a pristine private beach and a living, breathing jungle. On the drive in, we saw wild elephants, peacocks, and several species of monkeys—an unforgettable welcome. I stayed in a private villa, and it felt like being immersed in nature. Monkeys swung through the trees while I was in my outdoor shower—surreal and beautiful. The entire place is incredibly calming, healing, and peaceful. What truly sets this resort apart was the staff. They went above and beyond to make me feel safe, welcomed, and cared for. As a solo female traveler, I felt they took special care to make me feel like part of their family. Every staff member greeted me with a smile, took an interest in my journey, and genuinely wanted to ensure I had the best possible experience. I felt protected, embraced, and completely at ease. The accommodation was beautiful, we had a beach lodge which was a very comfortable and decorated to a high standard. The food was amazing. • markhC3934AJ (10/5): Ashan’s Bike Safari - Accompanied by the resorts resident naturalist, the amazing Ashan, we went on a 3hr bike ride through local villages and farmland on the look out for the area’s diverse wildlife. We encountered all sorts of birds, butterflies, water buffalo, mongoose, the list goes on. We eventually reached a reservoir on the edge of the jungle where you could trace elephants footprints along the path, you can enter the jungle but at your own risk as the elephants can be aggressive if they have calves. Ashan is very knowledgeable about the areas wildlife as well as the plants and trees and was happy to answer any questions along the way. The journey was fairly flat also so it was a nice easy cycle suitable for all levels of riders. Absolutely recommend doing this if staying at the resort! Thank you Ashan 🙏🏼

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the jungle and right on the beach, where you can walk and look for shells. The best part of our stay is the staff, kind, attentive and very helpful. The food was delicious, very well presented and very tasty. Every day there was a new menu. The hotel and our room were always very clean. We did a bike tour with Ashan, the naturalist guide, and it was an unforgettable experience. It was so much fun being in the wilderness, spotting elephants and birds. Ashan was very kind and very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora of the place, giving us a truly Sri Lankan experience. Overall, one of the best we stayed at in Sri Lanka, highly recommended for a relaxing stay on the beach.

The cabins (rooms) are integrated into the environment and maintained well without disturbing the beautiful nature. The hotel staff was so friendly and caring. They showed us around, offered help with our bags, provided a great dining experience at the restaurant and etc. The hotel provided us with a free upgrade to one of their cool beach cabins. The room was clean and tidy. It's a simple room, but it has everything. Special thing to notice is the room contained a patio and an outside shower which I enjoyed so much. Highly recommend for a nature loving person who's ready for a escape from the busy life.

It is in a beautiful setting with the hotel built around the jungle and yet only 10 metres away is the beach and the Indian Ocean. The room was amazing and the service provided by Asian, Ishara and their team was exemplary. However, beyond all that, the service we received from Faiz (manager of the restaurant) and his team was outstanding. He and his team went out of their way to look after us and provided us with the best service we can remember receiving. Fully recommend you stay here!

Check-in and check-out were very efficient. House keeping, groundsmen, pool staff were all very friendly and efficient. The restaurant staff, both chefs and attendants were brilliant in their service, attentiveness and friendliness. We have a son with multiple food allergies and all staff went out of their way to cater for him. Our children had a great time learning how to make kites. The rooms are all well maintained, clean and with all the amenities required to make our stay very comfortable. We visited Sri Lanka with much trepidation. However, the experience has been exceptional, thus far.

Would avoid if repeating our trip ( the only place we would say that about). Lovely staff. The beach is great.

All of the staff are incredible and they really made our stay. Special mentions to Ashan who took us on the pigeon island snorkelling tour. The two lovely gents who man the beach bar during the evening, one of whom served us during our beach BBQ, they were very attentive and we enjoyed chatting to them about the beach dogs. And of course the team who run the restaurant in the evening who were all really kind and helpful with recommendations from the menu and ensuring we had everything we needed for a lovely meal. The food in the main restaurant is great and plentiful with a good selection to suit different tastes, we also ate lunch at the beach bar a couple of times and really loved the Jungle Beach Wedges! We’d also like to say a huge thank you to the customer relations team who checked in on us every day to see how we were finding our stay, as well as organising a private dinner on the terrace with wine (a real treat) and a special honeymoon cake; which was delicious! We stayed in room 12, one of the beach cabins, we loved being able to walk out straight onto the beach and having the private terrace. The rooms were equipped with everything you could need during your stay including flip flops! A huge thank you to everyone at Uga Jungle Beach for such a lovely and memorable stay

Some memorable mentions would go to Anoja , Manoj and the chefs Anoja at the front desk always had a bright smile while giving us a tour around our rooms and adhering us to any questions we had. Her bright and positive attitude made our welcome to the resort all the more special. Manoj who was the server on our table for breakfast and dinner made sure we had everything we needed by always checking up on our needs every 5 mins. His amazing hospitality and adhering to our request was always met without an issue. The staff and the beautiful atmosphere of the resort with the amazing scenery and the beach connected to our beach cabin was just breathtaking where it made our stay all the more special . Beach was magnificent in the morning when sun rise. You can see one of the best sunrise in sri lanka if you wake up early morning and go to beach near this hotel. Hotel atmosphere is wonderful and you will feel like you are living in a jungle. They have created the cabins not disturbing the nature. Rooms were clean and room service were doing great job. All the staff were very polite and kind. Foods were very tasty and got good variety. You can do sea bathing if you want. You can feel a different vibe when using the pool as well which is surrounded by jungle and lots of nature.

We stayed in August, went dolphin and whale watching, snorkelling on Pidgeon Island and enjoyed the Langurs walking around the resort! A very special thanks to Praboda, both Ashan’s (in the restaurant and the naturalist) and the wonderful manager, Mr.Deelepa, and Emadhrie from head office whom if it hadn’t been for her, we wouldn’t of stayed at this hotel and all of the wonderful staff. Thank you Emadhrie for your patience, answering all of my enquiries, no matter the time of day or how crazy(!) thank you, Mr Deelepa, for your help organising a new boat trip (after one of the seats were broken on our scheduled hotel boat, the day before our voyage to see the whales and dolphins). The matter was dealt with perfectly. thank you, ashan and Praboda for looking after us during our day, and making it memorable. The special birthday cake for my daughter was really truly thoughtful. Thank you to our naturalist , Ashan whom we very much enjoyed listening to and learning from. Thank you to the Yara Tea service in the restaurant, the epitome or Sri Lankan life and one of a very few hotels we stayed in that actually served it.
• RodN290 (10/5): Superb luxury beach hotel. First class food and service - The best hotel in Trincomalee. Local Sri Lankans even chose it as a place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff from the manager Mr Roshan who leads an excellent team. Most of my dealings were with the activities manager Ishara who confidently and competently ensured that my stay and excursions were first class. I stayed in one of the Beach villas which have private direct access to the beach. Where they have a boat for tours, a great restaurant/bar and plenty of comfortable wooden recliners. There is a life guard on duty from 7 till 19:00. The beach is spotlessly clean and the sea delightful for swimming. I visited to do some diving using one of the many excellent PADI centres and had a number of delightful dives. The food, whether at the beach bar or main restaurant was superb with both Sri Lanka and European options. I particularly like the Sri Lankan option at breakfast. And the seafood platter is a veritable feast. There are a pair of giant tree squirrels that are often seen in the restaurant and are delightful to watch. All of the staff are helpful and welcoming. The hotel arranged for me to have a private Yoga session and I also availed myself of a good massage from one of the two Balanese ladies at the Spa. The room was well appointed with an outside bathroom and choice of inside or outside shower. There are a couple of well fenced lagoons with resident crocodiles and flying fish. I look forwards to returning.

On arrival, there was a glitch with our booking (not their fault) which they resolved with the minimum of fuss. The unspoilt beach was great, we enjoyed the sunbeds, umbrellas and bobbing about in the sea. We enjoyed all the food in the restaurants as well as the cocktails (delicious). All of the staff teams from the wonderful check in staff, to the restaurant, pool, beach teams and housekeeping were delightful - really friendly and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

There were huge flocks of little stint, kentish and sand plovers, lesser whistling ducks, and eurasian spoonbills, as well as spot billed pelicans and painted storks. Through the rest of the camp we saw droves of other wildlife, and the morning we left Ashan took me expertly through the coastal forest nearby and found me Sri Lankan jungle fowl. If you are a keen birder this hotel is wonderful, and I'd recommend the birding tours (even if you just enjoy wildlife). If not the food was lovely, staff excellent, rooms clean and nice, and pools and beach wonderfully relaxing.

Would highly recommend. We didn't use the hotel service to go snorkelling but its close to Pigeon Island.

• 573geethk (10/5): Simply incredible ! Uga Jungle Beach - Trincomalee - The Uga Jungle Hotel in Kuchchaveli , about 30mins from Trincomalee is a very, very, very special place! Perfect location for peace and tranquility with a lovely quaint swimming pool surrounded by large trees to offer shade when needed. It gets wonderfully hot with the brightest of blue sky which is then complemented by the most stunning turquoise ocean. The hotel also pretty much backs on to a private and beautiful beach which is probably a 500m walk from the hotel. Don’t worry, there’s a wonderful beach bar that serves fantastic food and beverages of your choice whilst you laze around on sunbeds (umbrella’s provided along with tables). We stayed here for 4 nights (was not enough!) as a family and enjoyed literally every second. The rooms are modern and a very good size which brings comfort. Ours had an amazing view over the lake (crocodile’s present, one chap being circa 8ft long !). Wildlife is everywhere and we loved watching the family of monkeys from our balcony as well as the friendly giant squirrels that live in the trees around Reception and the bar area. The food here is stunningly good and we ate in both the main restaurant and the beach restaurant. Most of the meals are a la carte which means that there is less waste and each dish is prepared fresh. There is a good mix of Sri Lankan and international cuisine which suited our family as we all have different tastes. There is a Sri Lankan buffet and even though it is minimalistic (again, not wasting food), it is simply stunning and a must try. Some favourite dishes of mine were the egg hopper, string hoppers, King fish curry, Dahl, and green leaves - simply outstanding! There is also live music entertainment every night should you wish to watch/listen. I would recommend a trip to both Pigeon Island as well as whale watching in Trincomalee (early start to the morning required but you can catch an incredible sunrise over the Indian Ocean). The sea is very calm and we were able to see turtles, baby sharks and a host of different variety of fish that supports the ecosystem when snorkelling. I am not a swimmer but you couldn’t drag me out of the water! It was incredible and I cannot tell you enough how enthralling it was to see wildlife so special within touching distance. The Hawksbill and Leatherback turtles will live fondly in memory but the baby sharks were something else - so elegant and Incredible creatures. The best thing about Uga Jungle Beach is definitely the people who work there. Every single member of staff greets you with a smile and a ‘hello’. This means that you very quickly feel welcomed and relaxed. I could write several special mentions tbh but a very special mention must go to Sudeep in the restaurant who managed to fulfil our strange request for a small glass jar so that our daughters could collect some sand from the beach to take home for their Sri Lankan grandparents. It’s as random as requests get! He went above and beyond to help us and this is typical of the staff who work here. We would love to return.

• 775grahame (8/5): Great stay but overpriced meals - We had a lovely stay at Uga Jungle Beach. Our room was very well appointed and serviced twice daily. It was impeccably clean with a beautiful hot outdoor shower from the bathroom. The beach bar is right on the sand and the breakfast was a real stand out. The chia pudding with pineapple jam is mind blowing. You are probably best taking half board or going out for dinner because dinner could be quite expensive. The seafood beach bbq is USD$85 pp. All the staff were very attentive especially Danu who took us to see the resident crocodiles in the (fenced!) lagoon.

The food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. We really appreciated the set menu concept. We booked the transfer to the sister hotel Uga Bay directly at the hotel. Everything went perfectly and our driver Danu brought us safely to our destination. The people at this hotel made our stay absolutely perfect! We would love to come back again!
