• Rachel (7/5): Great beach destination - Proximity to the beach was a quick and easy walk. Hosts were very welcoming and were able to sort a portacot for us. Use of the spa was great and I'm always grateful to people that are kind to my kids. The kids loved the beach! Was just a bit squished for the four of us. Would suit older kids (like our 5 year old who is street smart) but was hard to keep our 17 month old safe if we wanted to keep the door open he would run off to the street which was right there and that made things a bit stressful. A gate at the mailbox would fix this.

• Steve (10/5): We had an amazing 2 days at Moanarua cottage & thank you to Miria & Taroi for your amazing hospitality & we - The hosts first & foremost Miria & Taroi are so accommodating & friendly they made our stay so special, from drinks on the deck, homemade preserves use of their push bikes the location is superb close to beach & other amenities. The cottage is cosy & welcoming & has everything you need. Not a thing we loved it all

• Mark (9/5): Unique accommodation in a great location with fantastic hosts. - Moanarua Beach Cottage is a little gem located in a quiet residential area but within a 3 minute walk to the fantastic Ohope beach. Miria and Taroi went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible and their welcome drink upon arrival really was a nice gesture. The breakfast provided by Miria, including home made preserves really was more than we had expected and just perfect to start the day! Could not fault Moanarua Beach Cottage and would definitely recommend the accommodation to anyone.

Very hospitable. Excellent breakfast. Really appreciated their love and advocacy for Te Ao Maori and Te reo Maori. Nothing. All good.

The breakfast with homemade jams and chutneys as well as the welcome-nibbles were very yummy. Apart from that, they are happy to share their knowledge about Māori culture and te reo Māori, what we enjoyed a lot. Nothing.

• Hariata (9/5): Relaxing and comfortable. - The breakfast items went beyond my expectation, so many options and of a very high standard. Including juice and stewed fruit as well as fresh fruit. A great selection of hot drinks as well as jams, preserves and pickles. Taroi and Miria were fabulous hosts, it was like staying with whanau. So welcoming and generous sharing kai, korero and great information about the area. I was very happy with everything this place had.

Miria & Toroi are such nice people & made us feel like we were just staying with whanau. Very beautiful home, atmosphere & people. Loved meeting you both & I hope we see yous next time we are in the area. Also, our 2 toddlers were comfortable especially son running a muck haha makes us happy seeing our babies be themselves outside of home. That we were there for a reunion/unveiling so didn't get as much time to hang out with the host & enjoy the spa.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is in a beautiful setting: it has a lovely garden, it is just steps away from the beach on a quiet street, and the cottage itself has gorgeous Maori carvings on its front. The owners are incredibly kind and gracious, as well. They invited us to their nearby home for delicious drinks and food shortly after our arrival. They are deeply committed to sharing Maori cultural traditions with their guests. A truly memorable stay!

The staff were most friendly and went out of their way to make this a memorable place to stay. The room/unit had everything you need and breakfast was provided. The homemade jams were wonderful especially the marmalade. It was a no rush, relaxing stay and we would certainly recommend it to people looking for something a little different.
• Verified traveler (10/5): ACute Little Cottage - A wonderful place to stay. We were warmly greeted by our hosts who invited us up to their home for drinks and nibbles and we left an hour later! Many stories changed hands. The next day we put our long line out on the beach and caught a couple of snapper which Miria and Taroi invited us to cook on their BBQ. We of course invited them to share the fish with us and so with salad and potatoes cooked by them ,we once again enjoyed another couple of hours before enjoying a dip in their hot pool. A truly memorable stay in a lovely cottage with the tuis in the trees outside our door. Magic!
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice B&B close to the beach. - We had a lovely stay for only one night and we were made very welcome by the lovely hosts,with drink and snacks on the terrace.We stayed in the room,in the house as the cottage were occupied.Had a lovely evening with the host-couple and almost like beeing with old friends.Breakfast was very good and before we drove off we filled up our waterbottles from their natural spring waterwell they had in their garden. Would love to go back.

• Thomas (10/5): Delightful Bed & Breakfast - Lovely Hosts - This property is in a great location, only one block from the beach. It is beautifully decorated and charming. The quality and attention to detail is superb - the homemade jams in the refrigerator were especially noted. The bed was very comfortable; it was great falling asleep to the sound of the surf breaking on the beach. Miria and Taroi are fabulous hosts; they treat you as one of their family and really make you feel welcome and comfortable. Our stay here was the highlight of our trip around East Cape; we will definitely stay there again next time we visit Ohope. Highly recommended, especially for couples looking for a romantic getaway.

• Cath (10/5): Fabulous hosts, and a great location - We spent two nights at Moanarua Beach cottage. The location is gorgeous and the cottage is perfect, with everything you need to hunker down or use as a base to explore the Eastern Bay. What really makes it though is Miria and Taroa, we had a fabulous evening with them and another visitor, plenty of laughs all round. Don't forget to try Miria's homemade jams... just delicious! Would absolutely recommend.

• Jan (8/5): Our first night in NZ. - The hosts were very hospitable. We arrived in NZ a day later than planned and later in the day than we would have liked, so we didn't arrive at the cottage until 10 p.m. They waited for us and then brought us supper because we hadn't eaten. This cottage is in the basement of their home and does not have any ocean view, but it is private, spacious and has a great bathroom! They were a very nice couple and we wish we had had more time to chat with them.
