Guest Reviews
- Geoff (8/5): - Quite
- Vanessa (5/5): - Location Spiders in the bathroom
Dust
- deborah (10/5): Perfect location to stay if you’re planning a visit to Healesville Sanctuary - Older style motel but very clean and comfortable
- Charlene (5/5): - Old and dated, bed was old and very soft, not so comfortable. Bathroom amenities were clean but walls etc needed a clean. Some decent tea and coffee would of been nice too.
- Lyn (10/5): - It was nice. You had to get your own keys from reception.
Management was never there.
- Susan (9/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Great location , clean room , friendly staff - Great location , clean room , friendly staff No housekeeping / new towels
- Stephanie (5/5): Great location, clean sheets but not much else. - Beautiful location Lack of contact with any staff other than by phone on check in. The toilet cistern was constantly leaking and refilling creating noises that would have disturbed our neighbours as much as it disturbed us. Dusty.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Shetot (8/5): Excellent for touring the amazing wineries - Comfy bed , nice quiet location and able to have breakfast in our room. we always travel with an esky with bread butter etc so having a toaster and utensils was brilliant.
And Anthony best bar /tourist guide ever !! N/A
- Aileen (9/5): Comfortable with everything we needed for a one night stay. - Quiet location. Electric blanket, but just me. Others probably like them.
- Prue (7/5): Be sure to book a room with a sea view - there are stairs and a steep slope to navigate- we had a nice view of the beach -
- Jasper (8/5): -
- Katelyn (9/5): -
- robert (6/5): Budget conscious but good proximity to what we wanted to do - Close to Healesville sanctuary. Noisy hallway in-between rooms.
- Smruthi (5/5): Average - Nice place amount the woods...can take a nice bush walk No sound proofing
Staff were not strict on customer who didnt abide to others using the facilities. Motel need to have rules set for customers to not disturb others if so will be kicked out.hot water system didn't work in the morning.
- Leanne (5/5): - Clean room Very dark with no outside lights turned on. Ran out of milk in the room and they didn't have anymore.
- terryh (8/5): -
- Dickie (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): It’s definitely like a sanctuary - Everything None
- Gardiner (8/5): - The motel was in a quite and secluded place.
It was clean and comfortable area.
It was a bonus having the light out on the road to be able to locate at night. We felt it strange that we did not see and staff at all at the property. In office hours there was no one at the reception area even though it was open.
The bed and pillows could do with an upgrade.
The powerpoint and light switch behind the bed was not very accessible. A bedside lamp would be a great advantage in this situation.
- Yvonne (9/5): Very nice and comfortable room. It was a quiet location with a little terrace looking out on bushes. - The location is great and quiet
- Thomas (6/5): Lovely Bush Location. - Lovely location... room was clean. Staff member there to collect key.
It was quiet. It was clean & bed was comfortable. Basic & tired... no bowls to use for breakfast cereal. Toilet in bathroom had water continually running. On arrival at 4pm no- one in office so key was left on counter.
- Schlaghecke (4/5): -
- Kim (7/5): Very comfy and clean - It was very clean and convenient for our stay in Healesville Need a in-house continental breakfast menu
- Lynda (5/5): - Bed hard
Spiders in the corners of the room
Shower not very clean, someone elses hair on the wall, spider webs in corners
- John (5/5): - Great staff Very old and run down. Desperately needs a refurbishment
- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely area & obliging friendly staff. - Lovely breakfast & very accommodating staff A few minor things
- Glennis (6/5): We enjoyed seeing the kangaroos, having the playground to ourselves & going on the short bush walk - It was far enough away from the town that it was peaceful We never saw a staff member at all, not when picking the keys up, through out our 3 night stay or when handing the keys back. The room was quite small & it was raining so the children couldn’t sit outside to eat, so had to sit on the beds to eat which wasn’t the best option. It could do with a bullnose veranda over the outside table & chairs
- Carter (7/5): -
- Aus-Traveller (6/5): Not What We Expected - The room was clean, bedding was well made up. It had all the facilities of a Motel room but was on the smallish size. The bathroom, likewise, was clean and larger then you would be typically be expected of a room of this size. The heating worked well, the bed were "average".
The other positive is that it is very close to "Healesville Sanctuary (a nature reserve and part of Zoos, Victoria). It also has a Restaurant onsite serving Breakfast and Dinner. Which was a big plus because the "Resort" is some distance from town and shops. The room was, to be kind, disappointing. It certainly did not meet the expectation of a "Resort" and certainly was not consistant with the price charged (even with our 'Genius Level 3' discount). To make things worth, we were allocated a room at the back of the complex, with crushed rock driveway, overlooking an ovegrown creek bed. There was a nature walk starting at the property but the road out front lacked safe, walking paths. The large amount of road traffic on Badger Creek Road is also a concern for any pedestrian traffic.
- Jacqui (7/5): It was a bed for the night & that’s it - The cleanliness The TV didn’t work very well at all very small & hard to see from the bed. Bed was like sleeping on concrete & slipped around on the wooden floor. We did not see a single staff member on arrival or leaving. The premises are very tired looking & run down
- Kristian (9/5): Great will be back for sure. - Nice rooms, clean and comfy. Great, quiet location. Stayed here twice now when in the area and wont hesitate to come back. Games room needs some love.
- Sidwell (10/5): - Excellent service and a free upgrade because the room was available. The exterior is quite old and the layout confusing at first, but it's not a real issue.
- Dean (8/5): -
- Rachael (8/5): - Very quiet, close to the zoo. Easy to find.
Upgraded me to a bigger room which was very nice of them
- Julie (8/5): Good budget option with clean and comfy room - Comfortable bed, good shower and clean and tidy.
- Shaz Tomlin (4/5): - Tv was extremely bad. No free to air chanel 7, it said it had foxtel but none. For $200 pm I thought it was very overpr priced.
- Simon (7/5): Quiet, clean and peaceful - Location was peaceful and the area quiet A very small bathroom and limited bench space, though was very clean and the shower warm and great water pressure. The TV is a little dated in terms of size and modern technology.
- Jesse (8/5): -
- R.J.M. (8/5): -
- Kristy (3/5): - Located very close to Healesville Sanctuary in a peaceful setting. The whole property is very tired looking. Self check in, self check out, didn't see a single staff member. Rooms are not serviced daily or at all. The tv was balanced on a coffee table not attached to the cobweb bracket on the wall, with no remote. Dirty tea towel, wet patches on the floor. The step and doorway into the main room needs some serious attention, it's not disabled friendly at all. No foxtel/netflix ect
Definitely not worth the money i spent on this place.
- Phil (8/5): - Great Manager Noisy toilet that we had to turn off at night to shut it up
- Sonia (8/5): Nice bush setting with all the basic facilities. - Close to Sanctuary, games room for kids. Nice little bush walk. Mob of kangaroos near volleyball court. Beds were not very comfortable, cheap mattresses.
- Joshua (10/5): Great family friendly spot to stay - Tidy , comfortable, very helpful staff had everything I needed for my short overnight stay , close to the sanctuary
- Darryl Donald James (9/5): -
- Maria Brigitta (7/5): -
- John (1/5): Nothing - Location Dirty
- Finn (10/5): -
- Yenuri (7/5): - Friendly staff and location The room should be bit more clean
- Jørgen (7/5): -
- Melanie (2/5): -
- Maiko (6/5): -
- Juan (8/5): - The surroundings.
- reenu (2/5): - Motel is very old, and smells of old carpet. The staff was friendly but not worth the price.
- Andrew (8/5): Relaxing stay in bushland property - Secluded bushland setting Everything was fine with the property
- Wendy (7/5): Was OK but may choose different accomodation next time - Nice surroundings The plumbing and electrical were neglected . Upkeeping has been neglected , stay was much better last time, I thing it has changed hands and is really not the same any more.
- Elly (10/5): Beautiful property, highly recommend. - Beautiful property. Felt relaxed as soon as you walk in the door.
All the little extras in the room really made it special The breakfast was not the best which was a shame
- bea (8/5): - The $12 bbq
- Eleanor (4/5): A dated, uncomfortable stay that fell far short of what the price should deliver - The room we had was very clean and the staff were quite nice. Checking in was easy. Check out was a bit unusual in that it seems rather unsecure with keys being dropped in a basket at the unstaffed front counter. This place was on the pricier side at $266 per night for an average stay in the Yarra Valley and unfortunately the experience didn’t match the cost. The room felt like stepping back into the 1980s, and not in a charming way.
The bed was a narrow double with a wooden head and footboard, and it was extremely uncomfortable for two adults. We both slept poorly and woke with neck and back pain. On arrival, the bed wasn’t even properly made, the sheets and bedding under the doona were pulled several inches short of the top of the mattress, exposing a poorly positioned electric blanket. We had to remake the bed ourselves before we could even attempt to sleep.
The room also lacked some basic amenities. There was a wardrobe but no coat hangers, so it appears to be BYO. The bathroom offered only tiny wrapped bars of soap, with no handwash or sanitiser provided, which I found disappointing for the price point.
Overall, I expected something far more comfortable and better equipped given the name and the higher nightly rate. There are plenty of places in the wider area for a similar price and offer better facilities. I wish we had chosen one of those instead
- Jack (8/5): Overall good stay and lovely area - The room, location and friendly staff The Sunday breakfast seemed closed when I visited. There was no milk and the water boiler was off so I presumed it was closed. It was communicated the room 20 would be left open with the key inside - however it was locked and the key was in reception.
- Anne (1/5): - The guy at the front desk was pleasant but not quick enough to help us once I informed him we were leaving/cancelling and going to another place. We left immediately once we entered what we thought was going to be a full cabin, not even close to photos. We booked into another place and lost all booking money. It was very small and not at all what we thought we booked.
- Aileen (8/5): -
- Nick (4/5): -
- Donna Maclean (10/5): Cabin experience - I was greeted by the kindly gentleman at the front desk who was prompt about the sign in and we were on our way. We stayed in one of the cabins which is beautifully set back with nature around it and a little porch. Perfect for stepping out of the city. The cabin was clean and nicely sized for our short stay, with the usual tea and coffee, basic crockery and cutlery and linen/towels, etc. A microwave and an Air conditioner. A very comfortable stay. Nothing, if you don’t mind being at the end of the motels rooms parking area. We didn’t mind.
- Paul (7/5): - A long walk to town centre.
- Fi Camo (4/5): Disappointing for the price. - Location and how quite it was Rooms did not match the pictures provided on Booking.com. Room small, bathroom very small, air-conditioner made a noise as did the fridge. Furniture old and sticky and TV did not work on most channels and no Foxtel as indicated on Booking.com. The use of the name Sanctuary and Resort is dubious at best.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very happy with the stay thanks - The pool and facilities in room Mattress was a bit hard
- jane (7/5): -
- Kelvin (5/5): - Super quiet Wasn't what I have expected
- Danielle (5/5): average - we didnt stay in the main part of the motel, there are 2 cabins behind the main buildings that are separate which is where we were placed. The cabin was very small with a weirdly large bathroom. All of the facilities are tired and dated. The worst bit was the 2 very large huntsman spiders in the room, one in the bedroom section and one in the bathroom. I appreciate the staff can't control spiders in Australia however there was a very large gap under the cabin door and gaps between the ceiling and walls which is where I assume the spiders got in. Unfortunately, I am terrified of spiders and it affected our stay.
- Lee (9/5): Quiet and peaceful. Had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. - It’s set back from the road, so it’s quiet and peaceful I couldn’t work the TV but didn’t ask for help, so that’s on me.
- Peter (3/5): - Clean It smelt inside the room
- Paul (4/5): - On arrival we were immediately offered an up grade of room for $100 extra, second day had to request house keeping, out side lighting turned off by 9.30pm,no security lighting.our booking was for 4 days,we left after 3.
We accepted the upgrade of room Which was small, can imagine how tiny the original room would have been. Was nice to go home.
- valentina (1/5): I would not recommend this place to anyone. - Nothing. From the moment you enter the property, it is disappointing. The exterior is really poorly maintained and the whole place looks neglected. The reception area was very dirty, but we still hoped our room would be better.
We had chosen the cabin, thinking it would be a private and relaxing weekend getaway. However, it’s misleading. The “cabin” actually contains two rooms inside separated only by a door , meaning during your stay you are essentially sharing the same cabin with another couple directly opposite you. There is no real privacy.
Everything felt very old, the curtains were worn, and the flyscreen was broken. When I tried to close the window to stop insects from coming in, the flyscreen fell off. The smell inside was unpleasant and the ceiling had many cobwebs.
The price is far higher than what should reasonably be charged for a place like this. We left after only 10 minutes and went back home. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

- Kurukulasooriya (9/5): -
- Hayley (8/5): -
- Morgan (1/5): -
- Haleigh (7/5): -
- Nicholas (8/5): - Location was amazing right on the edge of bush land and a short drive to some amazing wineries. At 6'2" and 100kg the bathroom was a tight space. But still clean and functional and great hot water pressure.
- Rob (10/5): - Clean, comfortable Nil
- Attilla (10/5): -
- Edsall (9/5): Relaxing and great access to explore the area - Well maintained, clean, tidy, and they have clearly been updating various aspects of the property. With a pool and some games areas, with the proximity to the Healesville Sanctuary, bushwalking, and wineries, there is a lot to explore and experience. The staff were great at attending to our needs even when this took them out of their way. We would have been open to requests to either identify more specifics around what breakfast options we wanted in advance (for example selecting from options the night before) so as to make this easier for them and allowing for when the number of guests accessing breakfast were lower.
- Paul (9/5): A romantic getaway! - Location was tranquil, away from city hustle and bustle!
- Julia (7/5): -
- Susan (3/5): Disappointing for the price in a great location - The man at reception was friendly and helpful with dining recommendations. The location is quiet and beautiful in the bush. The whole appearance of the hotel and grounds appear somewhat uncared for. Our room was in an older section and the outside tables and chairs were dirty and rusty. No outside light for evening return; no soap/shampoo, the pool has a brown mark all around the edges. There is a restaurant onsite that is not open. The carpet was wet near the door to enter. When we left at 9.30am in morning, workers were going in and out of the restaurant but an ugly steel roller blind confirmed that reception was unattended. We paid $220 for our room and it was poor value for money. Hopefully they can improve the conditions as this motel has loads of potential and in a stunning location.
- Leanne (5/5): -
- Suzanne (8/5): - Excellent customer service
- Susan (7/5): - Very comfortable bed No staff on reception when we arrived.
Just a sheet of paper saying we were in room 23 but the only key available was room 17. A guy had taken the wrong key so then we had to change rooms. Need a better system - maybe an envelope with name on it and keys inside.
No handsome. I showered with shampoo.
Didn't find the wifi password till this morning. Needs to be in the information folder
- Peter (8/5): -
- Kirsty (5/5): - Comfortable bed and good water pressure Overpriced for what it is. Spiders and bugs in room.
- Lauren (10/5): Will definitely be back! - Perfect location. Pool was amazing. Staff were incredible
- Lyndall (5/5): Dissappointing - Clean, decent sized room. Didn't use pool but it seemed clean. The one staff member I interacted with was friendly enough. Tranquil surrounds and very close to Healeville Sanctuary. Property is very dated and the "gardens" and surrounds are very neglected and run down.If you have kids, don't expect to much from the games room.I was charged $12 to wash and dry a small load of washing. If we had wanted to use the BBQ it cost $12. Information in the room says the Restaurant is open Friday and Saturday night, it isn't open at all. Also says you can get breakfast, you can't. This info obviously needs to be updated.I can imagine this place was once a gem but sadly it is very disappointing now.
- December (6/5): Clean. Adequate. - Convenient. Affordable. Noisy: noisy ac, noisy toilet fans, noisy neighbouring rooms, noisy cars in the car park, promise of Foxtel but it didn’t work, turning on the light switch in the main room made the television not have connection, insufficient PowerPoint, bedside lamp didn’t work, bathroom size was tiny.
Badkamer was heel klein. Inrichting oudbollig. Geen personeel aanwezig, vies zwembad, geen restaurant.
- Amy (4/5): Average all round - The pool was good Very dated and old and facilities didn’t appear to be maintained. There was an old musty room with a ping pong table that was full of rubbish and dead bugs. The playground was over grown with grass and weeds. We turned on the air con as it was warm and it just dripped copious amounts of water all over the carpet so we had to turn it off. We left as soon as we woke up because the hotel was so average and there was no one present at front desk at 8am to give any feedback to in person at 8am. Beds were comfy enough. I think $340 was ridiculous for such an average room.
- Tracie (6/5): - Beds were comfy. Pool wasn't very clean.
Fridge wasn't turned on for our arrival.
Lots of noises during the night....
- Anna (9/5): - Lovely, clean, quaint.
Perfect for a quiet holiday.
