Guest Reviews
- T7618DGgeorgee (2/5): Bed bugs - Bed bugs manager denied it but wrap around box spring was all black disgusting would not recommend stay away go stay at the barclay nice rooms smaller but no bed bugs plus we forgot something there and the manager denied that it was there my guess they kept for themselves
- TanyaDL65 (6/5): Most expensive cheapie motel ever! - Despite the lovely gentleman who checked us in and gave us his "secret last room", the rate of $200 for a Thursday night was a bit of a shock. Unfortunately, we were very tired after a long, very hot day of travelling, and our resistance was low! Granted, the room was a one-bedroom suite. Although very clean, it was stuffy in the extreme, the ac unit was very noisy, no shelving in the bedroom nor a tv, dodgy mattress. We took a chance and opened the tiny window (with no bug screen or security even though it was ground floor) in the bedroom, and that did help a bit. No hooks to hang things in the bathroom, no flat surface to put a washbag down. As always in hotels, tiny towels - at least these weren't threadbare. Almost worth the price of admission alone, was the shower - great water pressure and hot water, and a quiet night!
- Ronald (4/5): - Location was convenient. OK, if you just need a place to stay for a couple of days. The towels were all stained. Management wanted the dishes washed but only place to do it was in the bathroom sink. Smoke alarm had a dying battery and beeped all night long. Probably won't stay here again.
- Denis (8/5): - Stayed for the price, and it was clean.
- John (10/5): - The Redford is very well managed and taken care of by the attentive staff. We had a wonderful 3 days there. The pizza at Dimitri’s is top of the line. Like pizza used to be.
- Finn (4/5): Unsatisfied - Didn’t get what was booked, had to pay CAN $423,75 more to get the correct place 😡
Place is ok, have used it before, but the case for extra payment for this stay, will unfortunately cause that it not will be used in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Place was old school and not fancy. Beds were firm, there were three pillows on each and the place was clean.
The minor cons: Plugs were in awkward places for recharging and the toilet was higher up off the floor than normal. I’m 5’4” and my feet didn’t quite touch the floor while using it.
It seems like they served very good pizza from the restaurant on the premises, there was a long line of people putting in orders and waiting while we were checking in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly check in staff. Spacious room. Air conditioned as it was very hot those two days
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great customer service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Thought I was getting a basic room but I got a kitchenette
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We called ahead to let them know we were going to be getting in late the put our room key in a lock box and put it on the door of our room so we could get in right away and had a super easy early check out. Also loved their wall where they posted all the things and donations they do to help there community
Definitely will stay there again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Terrible food at Dimitri’s that is part of the motel
- Ron (10/5): - Easy access nice staff quick registration great pizza
- Sam (8/5): - Herb was friendly and nice to deal with. My room was clean and the area quiet, even though next to a main road.
- Jake (8/5): - Very accommodating staff and clean rooms with comfortable beds.
- Faye (10/5): - Our room was immaculate, the bathroom new and the bed not too soft, parking right outside, air conditioned and quiet. Although we did not use the kitchen, it would have been great as well! Thank you!
- Jackie (10/5): - It was really nice. We got a room with a ‘divider’ but it was more than a divider. It put one queen bed in a whole separate room. Great for privacy.
We were pleasantly surprised to find some dishes and cutlery in a drawer with dish soap and cloths.
Desk staff were really really nice. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Sharon (10/5): - Comfortable? Quieter than I expected, clean, friendly & helpful staff.
They only have blinds on the windows and should install curtains as lights and sun make the room brighter than it should be.
- Joy (8/5): - Staff friendly.
Covid -19 measures in place.Room very clean. Older fridge and stove unit but functional.Had microwave and coffee pot.
Basic.
- Peter (6/5): clean and satisfactory accomodation - Clean. Satisfactory. Good pizza in their take-out resraurant
- Graham (6/5): - Hotel nice, except bed was extremely soft - made sleeping difficult
- Lily (6/5): - This is a convenience area if you want to drive to Tofino with a reasonable price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was very large.
I appreciate the staff ensuring we would have access with our late arrival.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Spacious and pleasant staff. - Very humble place but spacious. The staff are friendly, decent food, clean and for the price, just perfect for a night or 2. Not our first time here and definitely will not be our last either.
- zwilliams42 (10/5): Great Place, Great Price. - I stayed here again this summer and WOW the upgrades they have put into the place really make a huge difference. Staff was warm and accommodating and the internet signal is was faster and more stable than last year. :-D Keep up the good work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good quiet ocation, clean and prompt service snd information advice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very helpful staff. Good location.
Pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It suited our purposes for one night but we were disappointed that the Wifi service included an unsecured network.
- kia (10/5): - Great place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were very nice and welcoming. Had no problems. Check out was easy
- Paul (8/5): Welcoming place to stay - Very welcoming people who saw that we were exhausted and put us in a room on the ground floor, very thoughtfully
- Debbie495 (8/5): The room was good. - The bed was good. It was a big, nicely decorated room. It was very clean, all in all a nice room. Had a kitchenette which we did not use plus a chesterfield coffee table, table and chairs. The shower controls were difficult to use. There was no kleenex, no bathroom counter and no breakfast. I thought there was supposed to be a self-serve laundry but there was not. The man at the front desk was very friendly as were the neighbours. Got the impression that there were a lot of long time, frequent guests.
- vern (8/5): - the odor from the cleaning product(s) was very strong almost unbearable.
we opened the windows and it was fine
- Marikyn (6/5): - The Redford is quite dated but is clean, has convenience of a small frig, microwave and stovetop. Quiet, and comfortable.
Convenient location.
- Dennis (6/5): Slightly disappointing - We were a little disappointed as we had booked a.double queen room with a separate room for one of the beds as we do not get up at the same time. It was given to a couple who checked in just in front of us. They also got the large fridge and ours was very small. Painting was very amateurish with lots of paint over runs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The only improvement needed was an anti-slip mat for the bathtub.
- Victoria (10/5): - Great motel. We had one very comfortable night here and would recommend it to anyone travelling in the area. The owner, Herb, was so helpful and interesting to talk to. This place is on the outskirts of town which meant it was very quiet at night. Bed was comfortable, TV, alarm clocks and internet worked well.
- J7060UFjamess (10/5): Best Hotel in Port Alberni - This hotel is a top notch notel for a great price. I have stayed here a few times over the years and will keep coming back. The rooms are very well maintained, very spacious, and the room service provided by the in house restaurant is great. The rooms have had upgrades since I was here last and the place looks better than ever, and the price was the same as last year. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. I recommend you try the attached restaurant. Keep up the good work.
- chelseal414 (10/5): My OffSite Office - I often travel for business to Port Alberni and when do the Redford Motel is where I stay. Friendly Staff as well as other guests, A Very quiet place as they deal with roudy people very quickly. Clean Modern Rooms. The Renovations are over and they are well worth it. My Laptop never has a problem getting online because seem to have a great wireless network. The Rooms service is served by the attached restaurant Dimitris and is absolutely great food. Late nights in Port doing paperwork wouldn't be the same without their pizza, and lasagna. I will keep coming back
- markgX9818QH (10/5): My Family Loved It - I stayed here with my wife and daughter and I would easily recommend this place for familys. The room was clean with plenty of room of us. We had a room with a bed in a
private room. Rates were extremely reasonable. The Owners are very friendly and so are the housekeeping staff. If you want any information about Port Alberni just ask at the
front desk. They are very knowledgable. The food at the restaurant is really good and having it brought to the room is just tops.
- 125marrys (10/5): Beautiful Quaint Motel - This is a beautiful place to stay. Amazing night skies. The owners are very nice and care a great deal of the happiness of their guests. The amenities are plenty and the rooms are clean. A/C is top notch which is great for the hot summers in Port Alberni. On-Site Guest Laundry and Room Service. The Food at the attached restaurant is amazing! And some of the best wifi i've used at a motel. I will be coming back next year. Thanks Guys.
- robbor570 (8/5): One night ok - The rooms are equipped with all you need. The rooms are big and the beds ok. From the outside we would recommend a renovation. The price performance ratio are great. Service stuff was very friendly and helpful
- lisa (6/5): - very good place and close to Tofino
- NikkiR1447 (10/5): Warm and Cozy Motel - I stayed here last year and am very impressed with the upgrades they have made in that time. As with last year the staff was very welcoming and the room was very clean. This year though that have really gone all out to made the place feel very warm and cozy. It is quiet and the new lighting created an amazing ambiance about the place. I sat outside out room in the warm night air and met my neighbors and had a great time.
Room Service was great and the food was awesome. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is seeking an home away from home.
- AlbertSalichs (10/5): A typical and excellent motel in Port Alberni - The rate quality/price is excellent. The apartment has all you need and it is very big. It has two rooms, one bathroom and one eating-room and kitchen. In fact is the typical motel, where you can stay very confortable and park your car near your room. Beds are confortable and big, and we had 2 double-beds and 1 sofa-bed in the appartment. We were 3 adults and 1 child in the room and we stayed very well. We bought the dinner in the restaurant of the hotel and we ate the best pizzas in the journey (21 days in West Canada). The staff was extremly friendly, thank you very much for all!
On the other hand, it is located a bit far from the centre.
- ShawnaCW (6/5): Large clean rooms - We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of this room The size of the room was awesome. The amenities were a bit on the cheap side, thin towels, single ply toilet paper, shampoo in small condiment size packets. However, the price was right and it came with a kitchenette so it worked well for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family suite is good. - Room is large ang clean. We got a nice full kichent.
- jessiej739 (10/5): Awesome RV Park - My wife and I stayed here in our 5th wheel. It is a clean place with friendly long term tenants who made us feel right at home. It's a clean park, great hook-ups, and they don't approve of loud music, noise or other disturbing behavior. Pets are not allowed which adds to the the cleanliness of the area. A great public grass area, to relax in the heat of Port Alberni.
Their restaurant has great food, made with fresh ingredients. The owner and his son were very welcoming and were ready with tons of information about the town and what there was to do. I would highly recommend this park if you want a great rv experience. Will defiantly coming back next summer.
- Stephen (10/5): Highly recommended. - Overall, exceeded expectations. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food at Demitri’s was excellent. Lovely town. High value for dollar. Would recommend highly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great all around!! Would highlt reccommend. Hopefully be back one day.
- F1351IXchrisc (10/5): Amazing owner - I stayed at the neighboring hotel lastnight. I paid $109. Today it jumped up to $156 for now apparent reason. I walked over to the Redford and the owner was at the front desk. We talked for about an hr about the community! East Indian Who's lived in Port Alberni all his life. Extremely down to earth, respectable, honorable and he is extremely involved in the community! Rates haven't changed in years. I have all respect for this man!... It's a must to stay here!!
- ericcma (10/5): A warm welcome awaits you - We booked this hotel on our way to the west coast trail. The owner Herb greeted us warmly and gave us a nice clean room.
As of the time of this review, they are performing some renovations to improve.
If you are hungry, the restaurant offers a nice selection of pizzas that are made with fresh ingredients. The owner proudly boasts that people from the local hospital and surrounding areas order food from here.
The room had a small fridge, oven and microwave for your convenience.
- 975lancel (10/5): Great place in an Awesome Town - Stayed here when I was a young child, and loved coming back as an adult. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledge. The Attached Restaurant served good home cooked food. The room was clean with a HD Flat Screen TV. The free wifi they provided was fast too. Absolutely top notch hotel for the price I paid. Only complaint really would be hearing the highway in the morning but it didn't start too early.
- Alan (8/5): - It Was fine not cheap thow.
- Pascal (8/5): Nice, Clean and affortable hotel - Nice stay, clean and lot of space, friendly and welcome staff.
- Jason (10/5): Great Staff!! - The check-in process with easy and quick. The room was big, clean, and had a kitchen to cook in, which is a nice luxury you don't find at most hotels. The staff were so nice and amazing! I had left my jacket in the room, and they were so helpful in helping me ship it back home to me. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room is match to price in the location
- Bradley (10/5): Service with a Smile - Staff went out of their way - couldn't do enough for us. From bringing our luggage to the room to picking up liquor and groceries for us. Very friendly and helpful in their recommendations for the area. Tell the local pizza joint where you are staying for special pricing. 5 stars!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and outdated. - I like clean and this motel was clean. Pet peeves no conditioner for my hair and no tissues and really cheap toilet paper. And very outdated. I like pretty and there were no pics on the wall and very outdated furniture.
- Alta321 (10/5): Great Stay - Stayed here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The unit was clean and comfortable. Owner/staff was very friendly and advised on local attractions. Pizza at Dimitry's (hotel's restaurant) was great. Oh, also don't miss the Harbour Quay while visiting the city.
- Michelle (8/5): Comfortable suites, great guest service! - My family and I stayed at the Redford motel on the hottest day of the summer (July 2017) and was very pleased with the cleanliness of our suite, 3 air conditioners, the fantastic welcome we received from staff and owner.
Totally recommend this place to anyone.
We will be returning for sure!!
- Carol (10/5): Comfortable hotel - Very clean, fresh paint and blinds. Checking in was easy. Enjoyable stay in a friendly town.
- Kelly (10/5): Wonderful comfortable stay! :) - Booked a couple nights here to attend a family wedding in the area. Wonderful little motel. Definitely outdated (although we are told they are updating soon!) but super clean and the owner/staff are super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant (Dimitri's I think it's called) is closed for renos but is still doing take-out and we seriously had the best pizza I've had in forever - thin crust/lots of toppings! So yummy! checked in a bit late (around 10'ish) and ordered a pizza because we were starving after 5 or so hours on the road, and it was delivered to our room! We will definitely stay again! Looking forward to seeing the updates!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Family Motel - The room was spacious, we had booked a suite and were given a two bedroom apartment, which for a travelling family was wonderful!. The rooms are a little dated, but clean, comfortable with a full kitchen. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was a long day and it was nice to have the room delivery option from the motel restaurant which was tasty and affordable. We would stay again if our travels bring us to Port Alberni.
- Jeremy (10/5): - I happened into Port Alberni after a long day in Tofino. There was no place there, so I returned the ninety-minute drive to there for a place to stay on by way back to the ferry the next day. I registered for this hotel and arrived just ten minutes prior to them closing for the day (11pm), but was greeted with a very warm welcome and chat. I did not seem to be an inconvenince and was promptly made to feel at home. The suite was remarkably comfortable and was tremendously well-priced. I would recommend this hotel with high marks !
- Teri (8/5): Clean, friendly, easy to find - I had my doubts, but once I met the owner I was pleasantly surprised. The room was super clean, though a bit dated, but the beds were new and quite comfortable. Great shower pressure. And they managed to fit our friends in in their RV at short notice on the long weekend! We would stay there again!
- Carol (8/5): - The beds were comfortable and it was nice having a 2-room motel room. It seemed quiet enough even though it is on a main road. The 2 people we talked to at the desk were very friendly and knowledgeable.
- rogersatlindisfarne (8/5): Excellent value for money - Good old fashioned motel just like in the movies. OK not modern or luxury but what do you expect at these prices. Delivered to our expectations. Friendly people doing their job well. Internet could be better.
- Peter (10/5): - This is the second time we have had the pleasure of staying at the Radford and the hosts were the same .we enjoyed meeting them again and would certainly stay here again. If the owners receive a copy of this Please accept our sincere thanks.
PC & MC
- Belen (8/5): Great motel and comfortable room. - Great motel, easy check in process, friendly staff. Comfortable room and spacious.
Location of motel is on main road but noise isn't too bad.
- Edgar12345 (2/5): Disorganized - Booked a room and they didn't honour the booking. Turned us away because they ACCIDENTALLY gave our room away!!!!!! Stood in line for an hour to hear oops sorry we gave your room away. All other hotels booked for the night and left us with no where to stay!!!!! So not impressed!!!!! Will never book here again.
- 449regj (8/5): Nice motel with kitchenette and good location. - We have stayed here before as the price was right and the location handy - just what you want in a motel. The motel is older but clean, spacious and with a nice kitchen area which is always a bonus. We were on our way kayaking, so were just in and out. A McDonald's just down the street. We were there on a Friday night, but a fairly quiet crowd. The walls are typically thin - you would not want a party next door. Looks to be well run though. Wi-fi was decent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value for the money - Great to have kitchen with stove/oven/fridge/microwave. Great to have 2 bedrooms. Great to have a living room and an eating area. Beds were comfortable. Only issue was all the stairs up to the suite.
- rhonda (8/5): - hotel was very clean, location was great. staff was very good and having a restaurant in the hotel was very good with good food
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel , clean and good staff - We arrived late after 11 pm and the manager made arrangements for us to have to key. Nice room with all you need for a couple or family
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap - Cheap and it was sufficient. Met our needsClean but very basic, particularly kitchen facilities.
- travellers (10/5): Great motel, very accommodating - Wonderful staff, very nice room. Everything we could want
- Roger (6/5): OK but could use some TLC - This motel is family owned and we had a good visit with the owner. The room was very plain but comfortable. We were only overnighting so were only concerned with a clean comfortable room and bed and were not disappointed. That being said the room smells musty and is in desperate need of upgrading.
- John (8/5): Good budget choice in Port Alberni - We really liked this motel. The separate bedroom and the kitchen were a bonus. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A good place for an overnight stay on route to a kayak trip. Staff were friendly and bed was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice motel and excellent service - the price was very reasonable. The room was comfortable and clean. The owner and his staff were very helpful and considerate and the food was great too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a great stay. Rooms are spacious staff was very friendly and accommodating!
- Geordie (8/5): Basic but clean - Gods for a one night stay before catching ferry. Recent temps, simple food prep area
- Marlene (6/5): - We stayed here as the price was right. The hotel staff was very helpful.and would definitely stay here again. The motel.was older but clean
- Alfred (6/5): Getaway - Well located if you want to see the surrounding. You can order some food and get it delivers to your room. Food is good. Well equipped. The highway is not disturbing.
- Lydia (6/5): friendly motel in good location - the staff very friendly, took care of replacing a light bulb immediately
- Marlene (8/5): Redford motel in port alberni - Very friendly and helpful. Great manager. Would go back again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very accomodating owner took extra time to ensure my family had a comfortable stay. Would definitely stay again.
- Wayne (10/5): I recomend to anybody. - Pleasant and comfortable and we enjoy our stay. The manager is nice and friendly.
- Samuel (8/5): Nice and clean. - Older motel but was clean and service was great. I'd stay here again.
- Ron (8/5): good location - Large clean room, friendly staff, good amenities, could supply clock.
- SantaWarren (8/5): It was I expected, fair. - I sort of expected it to be like camping. So I brought my own pancake pan, and utensils [ there was plenty supplied], but I like my own things. The stove worked fine, but the fridge kept cycling every 20 minutes and was quite noisy the first night. I guess I got immune to it by the 3rd night...the restaurant was open, but you could only get take-out or delivery-kinda of strange. The walls are pretty thin, so chatting or laughing, other people were going to hear you.
It served the 'need', TV limited channels, but it had music which calmed. Coffee maker, ironing board and iron, hair dryer. I didn't see a pop machine-brought my own. No ice machine in view either. Liquor store and other services very handy, lots of parking and an RV 'yard' behind the 'motel'.
- Larry (6/5): Good location - Have stayed here before. It is an afordable clean newly renovated Motel for the frugal traveler.
- Joe (4/5): Never Again - Should have known something was amiss when my vehicle was the only other one of a total of two in the parking lot. The motel next door was over half full. The "Non-Smoking" room smelled of tobaco smoke; there were cigarette burn stains on the rim of the bathtub; NO complimentary shampoo in the bathroom; the bath towell should have been relegated to the cleaning rag bin; some of the cutlery was still dirty from the last guest; the fridge door barely closed because of the ice buildup in the freezer compartment; all the control knobs on the stove were half melted from some past overheating mishap; any upgrades done in recent history appeared to have been DIY (poorly, at that). All this for $5/night MORE than the motel next door, the one whose parking lot was over half full.
