Anthony (1/5): Worst outcome possible. My reservation was bogus - My reservation was confirmed. Hotel was sold out no rooms available. We drove out of our way to this hotel. Only to be turned away by the front desk. I don't know who was at fault. I had a confirmed reservation, the hotel claims that booking.com was at fault, hotel was booked full for a long while, booking.com should have never made the reservation
Linda (10/5): Loved our stay here, great location and great service - We had a full sized refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, and the rooms are a lot roomier than most basic hotel rooms.

Andrea (2/5): - Personal war abends und nachts freundlich und bemüht unsere Beschwerden zu lösen. Allerdings war es wohl nicht möglich einen Zimmerwechsel zu bekommen. Herd war fettig. Am meisten war schlimm das wir kaum geschlafen haben bzw. nur mit White noise im Hintergrund an Schlafen zu denken war. Über uns und neben uns waren Laute Gäste mit trampeln und rennen und klopfen gehen Wände so wie Türen knallen und lauten Streitgesprächen die ganze Nacht. Trotz mehrmaligen Hinweis durch das Personal hat sich nichts nachts geändert. Mehrere Gäste haben sich beschwert. Ein Hotel kann nichts für seine Gäste doch denke ich das es Konsequenz ziehen muss wenn viele Beschwerden kommen.

Christine (2/5): Horrific - The bed was at least very comfortable. The hotel is so dirty!!! I was assigned one room and there was dust all over the carpet and in the concerns. I then found a huge dead roach under the bed. I asked to be moved to a different room, which was a little better, but there was hair in the sink and some weird brown thing. The hotel is not clean at all, and is horrific.

It’s tucked away in a quiet area that feels private and safe, yet it’s only a quick 15-minute drive to both Hershey Park and downtown Harrisburg. You’re close enough to the action without being stuck in the middle of tourist traffic. Atmosphere & Service: From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed—more like a modern apartment complex than a revolving-door hotel. The service was standout; the front desk staff was professional, fast, and genuinely helpful with local restaurant recommendations. Rooms, Cleanliness & Noise Level: Our suite was impressively clean and spacious. I’m a light sleeper, but the noise level was non-existent; the walls are thick, and the blackout curtains actually work. The layout is great for longer stays, with plenty of storage and a workspace that doesn't feel cramped. Amenities & Value: The amenities are where this place really wins on value. Having a full kitchen (fridge, stove, dishwasher) saved us a fortune on dining out. We used the Lending Locker to borrow a board game for a rainy afternoon, and the free guest laundry is a total game-changer for families. You get so much more for your money here compared to the standard hotels nearby. Overall: Clean, quiet, and perfectly located. Whether you’re here for work or a Hershey getaway, this is the best bang for your buck in the area!

Dmwalker79 (1/5): - I stayed at the Candlewood Suites Harrisburg-Hershey (Room 412, Oct 17–19, 2025) and was very disappointed. The room was visibly dirty—carpets and counters hadn’t been cleaned, the coffee maker and dishes were filthy, and dust covered most surfaces. The bathroom was not properly sanitized, and we were told towels were limited and there was no hand or body soap available. Only one staff member was on duty all weekend, and no manager was available to resolve these issues. Having previously worked for Candlewood Suites and other hotel brands, I expected far better from IHG. I’ve contacted both IHG Corporate and Booking.com but haven’t received a response. I hope management addresses these concerns so future guests don’t experience the same.
Jackson (6/5): Expected better - Location was fine. Convenient for what I was there for. Trash bags left outside the hotel, making the property look grubby. The carpets and furniture are worn looking. Towels in room were tiny and thin. Luckily I always take my own.
Joseph (6/5): - This hotel is 12 years old. I have stayed here three times. Clearly, top management is neglecting this facility. The chairs in my room would not even be fit to donate to Goodwill. Torn and worn. The air conditioning reeked of a pet odor when used. Had to open the window to get a nice smell in the room. Many areas of the hotel had worn carpet. The lobby furniture was even worn. Cigarette butts were all over the parking lot. Staff was very nice and accommodating
Summer (2/5): - Couldn’t provide us with a clean room late in the night when we arrived, and still haven’t been able to get a refund for the room we pre paid and couldn’t stay in since it was so filthy from the previous people. Do not stay here.
Robyn (8/5): - From the time we arrived the staff was great. The teenagers were happy with free laundry service and the mini store downstairs. Having a gas station with fresh food so close (walkable!) was perfect. Free laundry units downstairs was an added bonus. The staff was friendly and helpful every step of the way. My only concern is the cleanliness of the room, but we made the best of it. Only 20 minutes from Hershey Park, plenty of food options around and a 24hr has station for all of our needs. Cleanliness could be better; drawers and floor had some debris, but we didn't spend much time in the room itself except to sleep. Beds were comfortable, shower was hot and having use of microwave and ice maker was an added bonus. Will 100% stay again when we come back to Harrisburg!
Lori (2/5): Not worth saving a few dollars. Filthy no towels. - Nothing Did not like: 1 room was filthy, grimy, sticky, gross 2 no towels in our room 3 decent kitchenette, but it was not cleaned. Microwave had food debris inside, handles on refrig and cupboards all sticky to the touch. 4: coffeemaker in room but no coffee. Had to go down the hall to the communal coffeemaker— which did not work 5. Bed mattress noticeably slopped steeply down to the middle from both sides

david (6/5): - I was told Hotels.com recently stopped sending customer info to the Hotel so I had to fill out a whole new form, No towels in the room, Bathroom- Light above sink not working. When I asked to get ice I was told the only ice is in your room.. So I checked the freezer.. There is a Ice maker.. It was turned off.. In the morning I had about 10 ice cubes.. Pretty worthless

Jill (10/5): Pick this one. - This location was in a nice area. I was shocked how nice the room set up was with a full fridge, cooktop, dishwasher and all the supplies needed to use. Everything was cleaned. I would totally stay here again. Check in was so easy and as well as check out. They have small little shop area for food items that was great. They have coffee too with yummy creamer. I uber from the Amtrak.
Mark (9/5): I would definitely stay here again - Our room was very clean, I was worried about noise due to the fact we were on the first floor but it really wasn’t too bad, there was someone above us walking around for what seemed like most of the night and in the morning when we woke up but it wasn’t terrible, just odd Nothing really, the staff was nice and our room was very clean.

Very nice hotel, but we wanted the amenities of the room we reserved such as the little kitchenette they had offered. We had late games where many restaurants would be closed when our last games would end. It's too bad because we could've saved on time and finding late night eats if we had stayed at the Candlewood Suites.

Verified traveler (4/5): Wish we hadn't stayed here - Our room smelled like an old shoe. "Its just an old hotel" my husband said. I tried to spray perfume. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom looked clean, so for my husband's sake I endured. Meanwhile, there were food stains near the bed and I didnt want to walk barefoot on the carpet. We ended up leaving after only one night because the next day I had bug bites show up on my legs and I freaked out. Could not risk another night. The front desk lady was very nice and understanding. We are waiting to see how the manager handles this.

sarahwithani (2/5): Roach Motel - LITERALLY - I typically don’t leave reviews, but our experience at the Candlewood Suites in Harrisburg/Hershey was frustrating enough that I feel it needs to be shared. We booked three rooms for a tournament, and from the beginning, things went downhill. We were given the wrong room assignments, and one of the rooms was in extremely poor condition—there were dead cockroaches, stained towels (some with what looked like pubic hairs), melted candy stuck to the bed, and the entire room felt dirty and sticky. It was clear the room had not been properly cleaned or inspected. Another major issue: one of the toilets wasn’t working properly, and when we brought it to the front desk’s attention, we were told maintenance wouldn’t be available until Monday—so we’d need to "figure it out ourselves" in the meantime. That’s completely unacceptable for a hotel stay. Even the second room, while the correct size, had visible cleanliness concerns that made the entire stay feel uncomfortable and below standard. To make matters worse, I’ve reached out to both the hotel directly and IHG corporate and have received no response at all—not even an acknowledgment. No apology, no resolution, no follow-up. Cleanliness, basic functioning amenities, and customer service should be the foundation of any hotel experience. Sadly, all of these were lacking here. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for better quality control and guest communication.

Tara (6/5): - The morning and afternoon staff were amazing. The only issue was our door lock was broken. Maintenance originally fixed it and it worked for about an hour . We left the hotel for a concert and upon our return it was broken. The first proposed solution was a new room but we would be unable to access our stuff till morning . This was not acceptable because we had medication and other belongs we needed to access . So we waited for over two hours in the lobby for maintenance. Other than this hiccup the staff was helpful. The rooms were big and clean.

Christopher (6/5): - So, i get there after driving 4 hours and start the check-in process, the front desk staff says "we dont have anything on the 1st or 2nd floor so youll be on the 3rd floor, and our elevator is broken." Not a game changer, im ok with that. I get my key, hike up 3 flights of stairs with all my stuff, open the door and there is someone still in the room. So now im irritated...back down the stairs with all my stuff, tell the front desk and shes very sorry and says oh we actually have you on the second floor cause they wanted to stay an extra night. I get my new key, head to my room open the door and the room is empty but has a strong wet dog smell. Clean but smells. Not a deal breaker. The room is decent size, has all the amenities you need but is in serious need of an overhaul, old furniture, bathtub had stains in it, the corners of the floor full of dirt, fridge had rust spots, just not as clean as you would expect a hotel to be. Im just saying, if you're gonna allow pets atleast have some kind of cleaning product to get rid of the smell for the next guest.
Madison (2/5): - Just don’t. We knew what we booked going in wasn’t super, super nice but we ended up having a nightmare stay. For starters, we got there an hour & 15 minutes after checkin & our rooms still weren’t ready so we were told to wait for another hour. It happens I know, but we had dinner reservations so that was inconvenient. Then we were told the elevator wasn’t working, my mom has MS & struggles with stairs so this was also not great. Again, it happens but the front desk was really rude when I asked if it was possible to get a lower floor for my mom, we ended up having to help my mom up 4 flights all weekend. We were told at the desk that we could come and get any towels we needed. They were super rude & argued with my mom about it when she went down to get more. The dishes were dirty & cracked. The sink wasn’t clean. Our toilet stopped working on the 2nd day. When they sent someone to fix it; it was the same guy that was taking pictures of my friend’s bottom when we were walking up the stairs 15 minutes earlier. Then our A/C stopped working the last night. I booked this hotel for the pool. I will say that their official website does say they don’t have a pool but I booked through here & it has only been updated since we left. I had called before I booked to see if the hot tub would be open & was told it opens on May 31st. When we complained to the desk they said that it had been closed since 2023. Then we found a camera in our room. Sketch. Don’t book.
ann (4/5): - It’s old hotel the lobby has sofas that are cracked and peeling. The pool is not available. The elevator is also out of order and unknown when it’s going to be fixed. Room cleaning is only after 7 days and even that it’s not even guaranteed. The staff are friendly and location is great.
GREGORY (8/5): - The hotel and staff were very nice, only issue was the room wasn't ready when I got there about 330-4 pm Friday after driving 5 hours, I was ready for a break. But there was a Walmart close by, so I went and grabbed what was needed for the weekend and came back an hour later and room was ready. The room itself was very clean and well kept, the Pool was closed off for construction going on that side, but was raining and nasty out anyway. Was a very good stay for the weekend.
