- Penny (10/5): - It is such a beautiful, charming building, both inside and out. Tastfully renovated and decorated, but practical and very comfortable. A beautiful place to stay in an excellent location. All good
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous place to stay! Excellent location, love that they provide generous breakfast options. This is our third time staying here and it never disappoints. The hosts are just wonderful 😊
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Joanne (9/5): Superb - We had the most fabulous stay at the Clare Valley Heritage Retreat. The place is very well set up with many lovely small touches. The bed is very comfortable and we really enjoyed an evening by the fire. Also the spa bath is a lovely feature. The closeness to the main street is a huge plus as well - some great places for dinner. The spa took a long while to fill - but was lovely once it was filled.
- Ann (9/5): Beautiful, quirky cottage that met all our needs! - Beautiful, historic, repurposed chapel built in 1856. 2 beds, 2 bathrooms with generous lounge and dining. Country kitchen with everything you need. Supplies provided for breakfast with coffee machine and even a pancake recipe and ingredients! Really comfortable and centrally located in quiet street. Highly recommend!!
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (10/5): Perfect little getaway! - Absolutely loved everything! The character, the furnishings, and the location were all fantastic. Every little detail was thoughtfully taken care of. The bed in the loft was perfect, and the living area was comfortable and spotless. A truly wonderful stay! nothing! everything was perfect.
- Colleen (10/5): Loved our stay and would highly recommend this beautiful property when visiting Clare. - Breakfast provided was a delight. The bacon was delicious, fresh eggs and other supplies was very much appreciated.
Location was perfect for exploring and such a short walk to the main street.
- Peter (9/5): Very nice. - Spacious and hood location
- Brian (8/5): A really enjoyably stay at a great property - A wonderful stay in a well maintained historical property. Very cosy and well positioned to walk to be town. Nice and specious as well. Would definitely stay again All good
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (4/5): - The property is extremely dated, and not in a charming way.
The mattress and pillows were awful, we were barely able to sleep and were in pain during the day from the bed.
Being called a b and b was odd as very limited provisions were provided and only sufficient for one day, all of it sourced from Woolworths as oppose to local produce.
- Anna (9/5): A nice stay-cation but we won’t book in summer again. - The cosiness of the property. Lovely place. Good location but traffic a little noisy at times. Well-equipped throughout, but unfortunately didn’t get to use the spa bath. Nice breakfast provision. We came during a particularly hot period and had to cut our 3-day break down to 2 due to extreme weather, although we booked for 3 nights. More cover/shade for vehicle would have been nice. A lockable screen door and more ventilation would have been nice, too.
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Tony (10/5): Beautiful old world charm - Beautiful centrally locatec
- Lauren (9/5): Superb - Well appointed and very clean. Close to the main street and Riesling Trail
- Janet (10/5): A unique accommodation experience in a beautifully renovated historic church chapel. - Location was excellent, just a short walk to the main street of Clare and an easy drive to several wineries.
The hosts provide well for their guests. The breakfast provisions were appreciated, the loaf of fresh bakery bread delicious.
- Frances (9/5): Brilliant - The location was excellent, close to shops and restaurants. The property was well stocked with provisions for breakfast including plenty of condiments. Lovely restored building, we really had a great time The beds were a bit hard.

- Martin (9/5): Very pleasant stay - would certainly go back again and recommend. - The breakfast provisions supplied were plentiful and varied. There were thoughtful touches of a pancake recipe and all the ingredients included.
The location was very close to all the shops, pubs and restaurants so we could just walk.
There was a lovely spa bath which we used when we got cold and soaked after a rainy Reisling Trail bike ride! I felt the bed and pillows were a little hard for me but my husband thought it was fine.
- Gerald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terrie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Pursche (9/5): Superb - Loved this unique B&B very comfortable, clean, homely and great location. Had everything we needed plus more! We will certainly be back and would definitely recommend anyone looking for something a bit different. Nothing, it all was fantastic!
- John (9/5): Perfect! And in a great location. - We loved it been an old place with history, it was very comfortable and the breakfast supplies were perfect. It was nice to sit by the fire with a wine chatting and the place warmed up well even though it was cold outside.
- Amy (9/5): Beautiful stay - Fantastic BnB conversion.
Really comfy and homely, with lots of fantastic light. Well equipt with modern TV, wifi, cooking equipment. Hosts provided bacon and eggs to cook for breakfast which was great. Close to the main street so able to walk everywhere. Downstairs can get a little cold in winter even with the fire on due to the high ceiling. But fluffy, warm blankets were provided.
- Bradley (10/5): - Clean, well kept property with a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
- Vicki (10/5): - I liked the styling, attention to detail, comfort and cleanliness of this property. The house was open and spacious. It has a lot of character and charm provided by the furnishings, ornaments and the beauty of the building itself. Everything you could of wanted was provided. This made it a very comfortable place to stay. There are lots of cafés and restaurants in Clare. The town is surrounded by the Clare wine district so there are lots of wineries to visit. It’s close to Auburn, a quaint little town with a lovely place to have coffee and cake or a relaxing wine, called the Velvet and Willow Cellar Door. We had a great time there and I’m sure most holiday makers would.
- Nicolas (10/5): - Stunning!! Outstanding!! They renovated an old church keeping all the cachet (wooden floors and ceiling, electricity sockets, huge windows that provide natural lights, etc). Very comfortable furniture and bed and practical kitchen with everything provided. Very well located, quiet and yet close to restaurants and main access. Parking off the street. Will definitely go back!
- matt (10/5): - the steep norrow driveway was the only thing that I could fault with this property
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful property in great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place has the WOW factor and then some.
Beautiful presentation and you really must see it in person to appreciate it.
The attention to detail is brilliant.
They have thought of everything.
Comfortable bed and great breakfast.
Very quiet location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, well presented home. Good location, easy walking distance to Main Street in Clare.
- sue (10/5): Definately returning - We loved our stay in Clare and the Heritage Retreat. We stayed in Roscrow which is a renovated old church. The decor was pretty 90's reno but it was clean, warm and comfortable and the price is reasonable too. Location was just around the corner from the main strip and minutes walk to local restaurants. We dined at Umbria which describes its self at 'rustic Italian'. It was fabulous. We will certainly book this again.
- Val (10/5): Exellent - Excellent place to stay! Very friendly owner. Definitely will return.
- Julie (10/5): - A lovely rustic home we loved it. In walking distance to restaurants and shops. Fantastic provisions for a cooked breakfast and plenty of real milk and juice.
- Kelvin (10/5): Charming cottage in the heart of Clare - Fantastic location, charming and perfectly suited to 2 x couples!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable. Met all our needs. Heritage cottage was a good choice. Would have made the most of it if the weather was warmer
- Meredith J (10/5): MJ & CP getaway - This is a really nice renovated building, lots of room & real character. We could walk into the centre of town, but still be in a quiet area. The furniture and bedding was excellent , along with a big combustion heater to add warmth.
Would highly recommend

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely cottage with a fireplace. Close to the main street and walking distance to most things.
- Natasha (10/5): Romantic getaway - Amazing place, lots of history and like stepping back in time! Very romantic for couples.
- steve (8/5): Lovely converted church - Clean and spacious getaway near the high street, plenty of room with a lovely fire.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wishing well is a great little cottage! - Small mix up on check-in was quickly fixed.
Ad on Expedia proves a little confusing though, as we initially thought we had booked Roscrow church but was wishing well cottage.
Cottage was well maintained, fireplace a little full but worked well, well equipped and close to Clare township.
- Ramones (10/5): Absolute Devine accommodation - Fabulous stay, beautifully decorated with all the comforts. Great feel and so close to everything. Would definitely stay here and recommend to others.
- Simo (10/5): Fabulous cottage in an ideal location - Very comfortabe beautiful cottage that was centrally located. Fridge was very generously provisioned with plenty of breakfast options. - Glennis (10/5): Old heritage building - Close to main road of Clare but quiet street, beautifully furnished old building with everything you need
- Mathieu (10/5): Charm of histrical bulding. - Lovely stay as last time. Nice and quiet.
- Tony (10/5): Great Wine Weekend Escape - A charming and very spacious converted cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay, 2 big bedroom space, 1 being a loft space serviced by it's own bathroom. Living space was equally open and welcoming. Plenty of breakfast provisions. A great stay.
- Allison (2/5): False advertising! - I was really disappointed because the photos on the website are of a completely different property to that of where we stayed and in my opinion sub-standard in comparison (and certainly not worth the money we spent). In my view it is not clear that the owner has a number of properties in very different locations so you don't know what you are going to get. When I contacted the owner I was told that it was the fault of the website and when I contacted hotels.com customer service the consultants only solution was to offer me a nominal voucher but really didn't seem too phased about the problem at hand. Ultimately I think it is wrong to show pictures that do not represent the property you are booking when that is all you have to go off. I really hope that hotels or the owner update this by listing the properties SEPARATELY and so no one else is disappointed as I was.
- Luisa (6/5): Charming cottage stay in the heart of Clare - I called hotels.com to find out where to collect a key for our stay but they could not help me. We arrived at the address on the hotels.com website for the Clare Valley Heritage Retreat, however it was already occupied. Fortunately, the owner was walking past at the time and directed us to the Wishing Well cottage at another nearby location. They were not expecting us until the following day, however the cottage was ready to go. The owners made sure we had enough towels and organised some very generous breakfast supplies. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything that we needed. It was within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. 3 couples stayed for one night. One negative is that one of the bedrooms was tiny and could only be accessed via another bedroom, the bathroom or an outside door which might be a problem for longer stays
- Ceinwen (10/5): Wonderful accommodation and very comfortable - My husband and I had a wonderful relaxing stay in the beautifully renovated old church. The breakfast was plentiful and everything was so clean. The owners recommended a little restaurant "Seeds" and it didn't disappoint. We would fully recommend this to friends when traveling to Clare.
- Carmel (4/5): Disappointing/Heritage doesn't have to mean kitsch - Whilst knowing it was going to be old we were disappointed that the furnishings and kitchen fittings were old and tired. I love antiques but this place needs up dating and tacky items disposed of. Very difficult place to heat up because of the high vaulted ceilings.
The place has plenty of potential just needs to be dragged into 2016.
Garden and outdoor living area not used to advantage and on a pleasant day there would be nowhere nice to sit.
A bit of attention to detail and a freshen up are definitely needed when compared to other B&Bs who often charge less!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place, with everything you could want - very clean - brilliant stay!
- Vanessa (10/5): Beautiful with comfort and charm - Comfortable rooms in an excellent location in Clare. Walking distance to main street and bike hire available nearby. A beautiful building. Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great B & B for a weekend of wine and food. - Wonderful place the stay and take in some of the best that the Clear Valley has to offer. Everything you need including the best breakfast ever.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay - Nice little cottage, heaps of charm. Nice breakfast supplies included. Would stay again.
- Darragh (10/5): Clare - Cute property, geart location. very clean and well presented.
