Please note that the cafe opening hours are as follows: - From Tuesday to Sunday is from 08:30 to 16:00 and closed on Monday Please note that pets are only allowed in the Two-Bedroom Cottage - Split Level. Please note that a maximum of 1 pet is allowed per reservation, with a maximum weight of less than 16 kg. Please note that pets will incur an additional charge of USD 25 per night. Please note that pet is only permitted in Cottage 4 and will incur an additional charge of USD 20 per night. Pets are not permitted to stay in any other cottage and a minimum penalty of $150 will apply due to their Tasmanian Heritage listing and special cleaning needed.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. In the two story cabin the roof was so low in the loft, and there was no toilet up stairs so we slept downstairs in single beds. Not very suitable for us older folk. It has elevated views of Tatlows Beach. There was a fully equipped kitchen which was handy for eating in as it rained heavily on one of our days at Stanley. Neil (5/5): One Night Was Enough - Location was fine The cottage we were in was a strange construction. The floor was uneven and made you feel like the whole cottage was on a slope. The bed was in an attic and there was very little head room. Light switches were also in very odd positions and one of them in the bedroom attic had the back of the switch partially exposed. One final gripe was that the mirror in the bathroom wasn't above the basin. It was on an adjacent wall which made it awkward having a shave. Just a strange construction overall. All things considered it was not really worth the price compared to other places we stayed during this trip.

Instead of giving us another cottage, we got the choice of a discount and cold water, or leave. We had to book another accomodation ourself, which was at a higher price. We were travelling around Tasmania on motorbikes so there’s no room to pack things like umbrellas so it would have been good to have some available at the property to use. Also, the glassware was all non-matching so I ended up with a much bigger glass of wine than my husband lol.

This applies only to the Deluxe Twin Room, as I understand there are other types of accommodation available. The deluxe twin room is in a property divided into two units, with very minimal sound insulation between them. This means you can hear the conversations, phone alarms and coughing and sneezing of the adjoining occupants. In my view, this does not align with the 4-star standard of accommodation.

Provided everything needed for a comfortable stay and an excellent digital guide to the accommodation, Stanley and things to do in the area. Check in instructions tell you to check in at the cafe if arriving between 2-3, which we did, but the cafe staff greeted us with a “oh, another one!” as though it was a bother, and told us helping to check in guests at the accommodation “can be a pain”. We stayed in cottage 3, which lacked privacy. Furnishings and decorations are a bit tired.

RAHUL JAGDISHCHANDRA (9/5): Perfect accommodation in a beautiful location. Will definitely recommend and return - Location is walking distance to all the attractions, restaurants and the Nut itself. Ample of parking at the doorstep. Cottage 4 has amazing views from the ground floor bedroom. Perfect. There is not adequate signage on cottages, especially in the dark if one is self checking. A small property map at the front gate would help a lot.

chunmei (10/5): A very safe place to visit, worth the money, staff were professional and kind, good food. - All the staff were professional and kind. The room was clean. The location was excellent safe and quiet. It was within walking distance to all the interesting tourist areas, the nut, chair lift and the penguins viewing platform area. We should have made our booking to stay longer, one day and night is not enough to enjoy this lovely, quiet, secure and safe place. Should not have rushed our visit.

Karen (10/5): Lovely Accommodation - We stayed in cottage #2. It was freezing when we arrived, to walk into a lovely warm cottage was bliss, all thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff There was everything you could need for a short or long stay. Unfortunately, the cafe next door was closed, so we didn't get to try that out. The only things I will mention is the amount of time it took to get hot water in the kitchen. I ended up boiling the jug to wash up. The fluctuating temperature in the shower was a bit of a shock. All in all though, we had a lovely time and would recommend them to anyone thinking of stay there

Elliott (9/5): Lovely place, very comfortable - everything we needed - Great location with lovely views. Dog friendly but no yard to let them have a run. Wasn’t sure which cottage was which. Young fellow in cafe was very helpful in sorting it out.
Marilyn (7/5): Near everything but the building needs attention. - Handy to The Nut and the penguins! Right in town. Nice meal at the pub. Half way through being painted by the looks of it. I thought there was a mouldy smell and I soon got sore throat.

The Touchwood Cottages are right next to the shops on the main street, and a short stroll to everything worth seeing (beach, penguins, the Nut, the jetty, the the old buildings). The cottage we booked had a large and well-equipped kitchen, a comfy bed and a nice little sitting room. The place was immaculately clean. We checked in without seeing anyone but phone service was prompt and friendly. The price was reasonable for high season.
Neil (4/5): Not the best. - It had character Unit 1 had nowhere to prepare food even though it was supposed to be self catering and no table. Also there was no parking and on a main street.
