- Dharam (10/5): - One of the best hotel in japan None
- MION (10/5): -
- Denis (10/5): Mikuniya exceeded all of our expectations. Everything from the rooms, facilities, meals, and staff were incredible. The -
- adriana (10/5): An authentic and unforgettable Japanese experience - This traditional ryokan-style hotel completely exceeded our expectations. We truly found what we were hoping for… and even more!
The staff’s attention and kindness were wonderful, especially Luu, who made the entire experience even warmer and more special. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed.
The hotel provides traditional yukatas (women can even choose from different designs) as well as passes for the public onsens in Kinosaki. However, we barely used the public onsens because the hotel had 4 private onsens available to use freely, without reservations, which was perfect for enjoying as a couple with much more comfort and privacy.
The kaiseki dinner served in the room was exquisite and very elegant. A true Japanese gastronomic experience, with many small beautifully presented dishes. We slept on very comfortable tatami beds, and the breakfast was also delicious, authentic, and very different from what we Westerners are used to.
Kinosaki Onsen is a small, walkable, cinematic town, especially when strolling around at night wearing yukatas.
A unique and unforgettable experience that I completely recommend.
- Jessuina (10/5): Amazing experience. - The place was great. I recommend it especially if you just want to relax. Get away and heal your body. Many private onsens on the property which is great for shy people.close to public baths and restaurants lovely little shops around. I wasn't expecting a cold breakfast. But it makes sense after a long dip in the onsen the breakfast would help you cool off.
- Roger (10/5): Ryoken retreat in Kinosakionsen - Lovely ryoken room with ensuite WC.
Accommodated our vegetarian request from breakfast and dinner.
Four onsen baths for couples.
Convenient location for railway station and six public onsen baths. Dinner eaten in the room, my wife enjoyed this but I didn't
- Leontine (9/5): Heerlijk hotel met onsen - Geweldige onsen
Perfecte locatie
Zeer vriendelijke staf Niets
- Irma (10/5): Beautiful ryokan so close to everything as well as the station. It made the stay so effortless. I had a really wonderful - Royal treatment. Everything was perfect, the food was amazing, the room was beautiful, service was amazing. I can’t compliment them enough. The breakfast was a bit too early for me.
- Catherine (8/5): - Staff were absolutely brilliant and made it worth the money. Such a unique experience Unfortunately my clothes were left a bit smelly of local cusine but wasn’t the end of the world
- Alejandra (10/5): -
- Petar (8/5): Wonderful experience - It felt like a very authentic experience. The staff were very welcoming and comforting. The complementary services were also of high quality. The location of the ryokan was just perfect.
The breakfast was also a unique experience. Very much depends on your personal likings but I would recommend to just lean in.

- Byunghoon (10/5): Excellent. I want to visit there again - Facilities, meals and service None
- Benno (8/5): -
- Astrid (10/5): -
- Peerapon (9/5): - BF is Japanese style. It's taste good. The room is nice. It's not a wide room but it's have everything you need. Feel warming and good staff We are on the 2nd floor. It's hard to hold our big luggage to the front for check out. But we've accepted because this hotel is renovated from the old house. That's it little thing
Experiencia japonesa tremenda.
- Sarsprdoc (8/5): Great service and food. - We enjoyed our stay here with the private baths, although we spent most of our in town at the public baths. The best private baths in the hotel was Nana with an outside window. Don’t miss it. Nana and food was great with dinner in room and courses explained by staff. Breakfast was in communal dining room. If you are ok with stairs I would suggest staying on the bath level in the back as quieter. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Toon (8/5): Quaint and Quiet Retreat in Kinosaki - Service was exceptional. Many thanks to Luu, Nuoc, Take and all the staff members who made our stay very memorable. A little surprised that the Japanese-style rooms did not have showers inside the private bathrooms.

- Leo (9/5): Great Ryokan, fantastic staff and the dinners were amazing! -
- Sun Ho (9/5): Big spacious room! - Location was near the train station. The building is recently renovated, so it's a bit more modern in the interior; though I personally prefer old cozy buildings, this place was also comfortable and our suite was spacious. The private baths were alright; the pretty bath was usually always occupied, until I went early in the morning. Unless you specifically want to go into a bath with your not-same-sex partner or want to chat a lot, I'd say just go to one of the public baths.
- Judy (10/5): Simply glorious! - This accommodation was a splurge for us to celebrate a special occasion. It exceeded my expectations and consider it money well spent. The staff were courteous and kind and our room attendant was truly amazing. She was warm, friendly, and attentive. We booked a standard room which was beautifully appointed with a couple of sitting areas, real tatami mats, and futons which were set out and put away unobtrusively. Mikuniya is centrally located, within walking distance of the public baths. They also offer private family/couples baths on site at no extra charge and they were lovely - clean, peaceful, serene. Each room comes with yukata and hanten jacket that you can wear as you follow the bath circuit. Most visitors do this and it's delightful. And then there was the food! Japanese-style breakfasts were plentiful, delicious, and exquisitely presented. The kaiseki dinners served in our room were outstanding, especially the multi-course snow crab dinner. This is one of the most memorable places I've stayed in my lifetime. I would love to return some day. No complaints, really a wonderful stay!

- Heidi (10/5): Perfect in every way - Beautiful rooms and private onsens. Extremely friendly staff. This has been one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
- LIVIO (9/5): An unforgettable ryokan stay in the heart of Kinosaki Onsen. - Our stay at Mikuniya in Kinosaki Onsen was absolutely fantastic.
The ryokan is a beautiful western-style take on a traditional Japanese inn, and our room was simply stunning. It was incredibly spacious for two people, entirely made of warm wood, spotless, and designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere felt peaceful, elegant, and very authentic.
The location could not be better, right on the main street of Kinosaki Onsen, making it incredibly easy to walk around the town and explore everything.
A highlight of the stay was that the ryokan provided us with passes for onsen hopping, allowing us to visit the different public baths around town, a truly unique and memorable experience.
Everything about this place felt special. Beautiful accommodation, perfect location, and an unforgettable experience.
We would absolutely stay here again.
- Gordon Jie Sen (9/5): - Private baths were by far superior to the public ones. The traditional japanese breakfast did not suit my taste
- Manuela (10/5): Un soggiorno indimenticabile, una vera coccola. - Gentilezza, pulizia, accoglienza, posizione bellezza e cura della stanza. Nulla
- Calvin (10/5): -
- James (10/5): -
- KEISUKE (8/5): -
- Jenny Gunawanto (10/5): I will visit Kinosaki again and stay in Mikuniya. - I like the meals, breakfast and dinner. The location is strategies surrounded by so many stores selling local food. None.
- Bonita (10/5): - Exceptional stay! The room was beautiful, the private onsens were so nice and we had the breakfast which was so so good. The staff were so friendly and so accommodating. This has been one of our best stays in japan! Nothing
- Nitchanan (10/5): good experience - The authentic ryokan style, very hood experience to stay here. the private onsen is first come first serve. overall is very clean, staff is very nice. lovely location in walkable range to 7 public onsen with a free pass and free yukata! cannot addition food, need reservation in advance
- Kayleigh (10/5): Would love to stay again. Wish we were there longer. - Loved the experience. The breakfast was exceptional. We were provided a Yukata for the and passes public baths. The private baths were excellent. The Hana private onsen room (pictured) was a favourite. Nothing! Should have stayed 2 nights.
- Carrie (10/5): A beautiful ryokan experience with wonderful onsens, amazing food and beyond kind and gracious staff. - The whole ryokan experience was phenomenal. The ryokan itself is beautifully appointed and the attention to detail in the design was spectacular. The private onsens were amazing and the staff were so attentive, gracious and kind. The chef who worked hard on the kaiseki dinner and breakfasts deserves an award! The food and dining experience made the whole stay.
- Eve (10/5): Great location and facilities with lovely staff. - Everything was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Room was set up and everything explained by staff - even how to put in yukata. Breakfast was delicious!
Private onsen were lovely and always available when I went. Nothing
- Thanh Ha Maria (10/5): -
- Yun Sang (9/5): -
- Taizo (9/5): -
- Peter (10/5): This place will never be topped, I know how royalty felt or the 1% - Best room I’ve ever been in, any room, ever. No other hotel will be as good as this, kinda bummed actually.
- Arkadi (10/5): - It was an amazing and relaxing place. The meals were so good, and the private onsens were incredible just what we needed. The staff were also very nice.
- Frankie (10/5): Would recommend. - Breakfast n Dinner was excellent. Their four private onsens were good. Location great. Staff very helpful Everything was good
- Fabian (10/5): An absolute dream stay in a beautiful ryokan with excellent staff - I had the most amazing time at this ryokan. It felt like a blissful dream. I got to stay in the newly renovated suite which is an absolute marvel in the way it combines different styles. It made it really hard to leave my room to explore the town.
Their private onsen are also beautiful. There is four of them and there was always one available without the need to wait.
The location is great. It’s maybe a 90 second walk to the main street where most onsen are, and a 4-5 min walk from the train station. There’s also plenty of shops right outside the ryokan.
Customer service is quite good all over Japan, but the staff at this place exceeded all my expectations. They were always of great help without ever being overbearing. I felt truly appreciated as a customer.
The stay includes everything you might need: an unlimited pass to all onsen, a very comfortable yukata, and plenty of amenities. They even have an in-house coin laundry which came in very handy.
I would return in a heartbeat. I would return to Kinosaki just for this ryokan alone.
(I booked a stay without food, so I can’t comment on that part)
- Irida (10/5): Definitely recommend if you want to have a good experience in a traditional Japanese set it - Everything The futon could have been a bit more comfortable
- Coleman (9/5): - Our first ryokan experience at mikuniya was the highlight of our trip! The hotel was gorgeous and the newest bath was beautiful. The food was the best we had in Japan and we were genuinely blown away by how beautiful it was. The staff were exceptional, we've never been looked after so well. Location is great, close to the station and the river and baths. Room smelled a bit like crab at first but to be expected when you eat in the room. Opening the window helped.
- Shirley (10/5): - The private onsens were great and we loved the food that was served, we were so full after breakfast and dinner! The suite that we stayed in was incredibly spacious and we loved all the details
- Jasmine (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean environment, great facilities and amazing breakfast. Many stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly.
- Shun (10/5): - The facility in the property is great. The location is excellent. The portion served for both breakfast and dinner are huge. It is worth it. There is no view from the guest rooms.
- Dexter (10/5): - We had the special guest room which was recently renovated and it was amazing. It's quite modern and clean and it's incredibly spatious and relaxing for the price.
There is 4 private onsens which don't require reservations (you can enter as long as it is not already occupied) which was a massive bonus as, at the time we stayed, only one public onsen was open in the area.
- Bridget (10/5): - Mikuniya was an incredible relaxing, accommodating ryokan for our honeymoon. The onsens were gorgeous, clean, and there was always one available. The staff was incredibly hospitable and the location was unmatched! The rooms are super traditional with futon mattresses and no showers. We enjoyed that aspect but definitely good to know before your visit.
- alex (10/5): Our Japan Odyssey kept upping the stakes - humbled and honoured to have travelled there , in good care , and return home - Everything - if you want an authentic - traditional Ryokan experience this is it. If you’re into ultra modern and new this is not for you . The food service - and quality of our crab fest (seasonal menu) cannot be surmised in words - we left humbled and in awe of what tradition and timelessness means. That time and the onslaught of modernity and western values will erode a culture that should be beyond touch .
- Amanda (10/5): Amazing stay, would come back! - My room was amazing. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. Loved my stay here! I loved everything
- Stefanie (9/5): Get the best of both and save some money - Book the Suite and skip the Kaiseki Dinner - The Suite room, the Omoto, was the coolest room we stayed in. Take my advice from someone who has done several Ryokan and Kaiseki dinners (Kaiseki at a Ryokan isn't our favor dining experience). Book this room and enjoy the private in hotel Onsen and the Onsens around town. We cancelled a night at a pricey Ryokan and saved our money and skipped the dinner portion here (I'd recommend you do the same). We had a tasty dinner in town for $20 and just enjoyed the room without the rigid schedule, fanfare and meal. We paid about $400 for the night and it was an excellent room experience, newly renovated, huge and a mix of western and japanese styling. Truly memorable. Nothing

- Luna (10/5): Wir kommen wieder!

- John (8/5): Jus - It was in the middle of town. Close to shops and train station. Had to pay extra for parking don't understand why given is the Ryokan's own parking. Also the Ryokan was planning to close for few days, which meant we were not allow to pick up our luggage later so when we explore the town. Lucky I had a car, for other guest it would have been a pain carrying luggage around town.
The Ryokan should have told us this when we booked.
