The hosts make you feel really at home and provide lots of personal touches. I particularly enjoyed the homemade savoury and sweet treats at breakfast.
- Soul Adventures (8/5): Lovely little home tucked away in a corner of Tuscany - the breakfast was amazing as mentioned by several guests and as was my recollection from my prior visit
the receptionist was very helpful and friendly!
The bed is comfortable, the shower is great
nice and quiet property in great location

- Andrea (9/5): - Abbiamo soggiornato nella camera Dante tutto perfetto, solo un piccolo appunto. Avrei preferito avere nella specchiera del bagno un pó di luce.
- Pio Antonio (10/5): -
- Ms L (10/5): - Everything was perfect. One of the best B&B's I've stayed at. The hostess, facilities and breakfast are all top notch! Nothing

- Martinez (10/5): Amazing place - Location, location and location
Angelina was great with attention to the details. The property is amazing. The owners cook like your grandma would do.
- Jennifer (10/5): A real hidden gem! - What a delightful little haven! We booked very last minute and wish we had more time here.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. All the little “extras” felt decadent and classy.
The room was very tasteful and comfortable.
Very glad parking was available.
This was definitely our favorite hotel during our trip. A little more clarity on the parking would have been helpful. While they were very quick to let us know where the parking was, we thought we were saving time and being clever by parking and carrying our bags up, only to realize we had to then bring a parking pass back down to the car. It’s a bit of steep walk up from the parking, so we would have liked to avoided that extra trip, but this really wasn’t a big deal. Overall, the parking spot was easy and very helpful.
- Boris (10/5): The authentic medieval charm of Il Tosco is simply unmatched. - The outstanding hospitality we experienced was the BEST - from its exceptional owner to the staff. The breakfast was the best we've ever encountered. We loved every minute of our stay and can't praise Il Tosco highly enough. In preparation for arrival and check-in, some advance warning of the streets and parking situation would have been appreciated. We were unprepared and slightly unnerved.
- Francisco Mauricio (10/5): -
- Uwe (10/5): - Tolle Ausstattung, höfliches und zuvorkommendes Team, Frühstück vom Feinsten. ./.
- Meyer (10/5): Magical - Kindness of the staff Nothing it was amazing!
- Douglas (10/5): Il Tosco is a beautifully restored boutique property where charm, comfort, and hospitality come together seamlessly—ever - Our stay at Il Tosco was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much thought and care has gone into every detail of this boutique property. The décor is artfully curated—stylish yet authentic—reflecting the charm and spirit of this Renaissance city. While the property has been beautifully updated with modern electricity and plumbing, the owners have preserved its original character and atmosphere perfectly.
We were fortunate to stay in two of the four unique rooms:
• Superior Room – Bright and spacious, with stunning views from both windows. The quaint loft gave the room an open, airy feel (though we didn’t need to use it), and the proximity to the sitting/game area made it the perfect spot for a relaxing nightcap.
• Deluxe Room – Romantic and serene, with a slightly larger layout and a generously sized bathroom. While the countryside view was partial, it was no less picturesque. This room opened onto the living room/den, which felt cozy, though we found ourselves drawn more often to the brighter sitting and dining areas.
The common spaces are warm and welcoming, ideal for unwinding after exploring the city. Breakfast was a standout—fresh, abundant, and delicious. We don’t usually eat breakfast, but on our second day we joined and were so glad we did. Not only was the food wonderful, but it gave us the chance to meet the other guests. With only four rooms in the property, it feels like an intimate but luxurious home.
Most importantly, the host’s attentiveness is unmatched—warm, gracious, and thoughtful without ever being intrusive. It’s impossible to leave Il Tosco either hungry or without feeling thoroughly cared for.
In every way, Il Tosco exceeded our expectations. It offers a rare combination of charm, comfort, and hospitality that makes it truly unforgettable. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic yet luxurious experience in this beautiful city. There wasn’t a single thing we disliked.
- Sheryl (10/5): We will return everytime we travel to Italy. It is a home away from home! - This is a most exceptional property! The owners are simply beyond compare. The breakfast is a feast! The courses never end, all homemade! You are welcomed and cared for . We have stayed all over Italy, and we have never had even a remotely close experience such as Il Toscano. Her success and spirit of excellence is in all the details. You will have a hard time counting all the extras that are included in your stay here! It is a must stay and will be your highlight of Italy! It’s perfect in every way.
- Benedict (10/5): A Tuscan gem! Perfect spot in town, friendly service, and charming rooms with amazing views. - Amazing stay in Montepulciano! Perfect location in the heart of town with stunning views of the Tuscan countryside. Angelina is incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. Clean, comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast! Highly recommend! none
- Susana (10/5): Spacious room with wonderful view in history boutique hotel - Large, beautiful, historic room with a wonderful window view , open kitchen, great breakfast.
- stephen (10/5): As excellent as Reviews have said - Stunning views.
Excellent hostess!
Fabulous breakfast!!
Would definitely stay again if ever back
- Emanuele (9/5): -
- Quaranto (10/5): - Location and beautifully decorated
- Kyra (10/5): -
- Henrich (10/5): - Ubytovanie ma úžasnú polohu v historickom centre ;
čarovnú atmosféru a veľmi milý a ochotný personál
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kurt (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was so accommodative and helpful. Truly amazing!
- Hers124 (10/5): A Truly Magical Place - This bed and breakfast is a real treasure. We stayed in the Dante Room and Poliziano Room, and both have a breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside. Breakfast is unbelievable each morning. There is an array of breakfast cakes/pastries, plus plenty of fresh sliced fruits, yoghurt, and of course fabulous cappuccino. Clori, the chef, is the mother of the owner, and you will be astounded at the small dishes she surprises you with each morning…some days we enjoyed quail eggs nestled in an English muffin, or pumpkin flan, or broccoli quiche or panna cotta. This is just the beginning.
Angelina is the concierge extraordinaire. She will arrange dinner reservations for you, taxis, drivers, and she will assist if you need laundry done. She takes care of your every need. We stayed 8 days, and are already planning a return visit. A truly magical place.
- Jennifer (10/5): - If we had to return to one place in all of Italy, we’d choose Il Tosco. It was absolutely SPECTACULAR! Elena was the most wonderful hostess, providing many recommendations, of which every one was spot on!
The breakfast was out of this world - better than any place we’ve ever stayed. Kitchen was stocked with the most delicious olive oil cake and many other goodies around the living area to enjoy.
Walkable to everything in Montepulciano.
I could not overstate how wonderful this bed and breakfast is - RUN, don’t walk to make your reservation here. Two nights was not enough!
- Janet (8/5): Lovely with a couple tiny bumps. - Location was great. Breakfast was delicious. No hand soap in the room and could get the hairdryer to work.
- Eric (10/5): Amazing Unique Experience of Delight - Wow this place is amazing. Super unique, super lovely, great hosts, great room, great bed, great breakfast, like being in a movie or another time period. Will certainly stay again!
- Catherine (9/5): Comfortable stay in lovely and usual place accommodation - The property itself was very large. Our room was average size but then it had a lounge and dining areas to share. Food was very plentiful with only us to eat it which didn’t seem very practical but the breakfast was nice. There were lots of cakes but we were the only people there to eat them . Very lovely freshly cooked baked items at breakfast as well as eggs There was a big problem resulting in closure of the main road in and road to car park. After check in there were no staff to contact and no response to messages and no one answering the phone. We didn’t see anyone till the next morning. It worried me that in an emergency like even losing your key you’re on your own .
- Dave (10/5): An enchanted experience to remember! Updated w/o sacrificing its historic value. - We absolutely adored our stay at this 1000-year-old building/place! We loved the location right in the middle of the old city Montepulciano. It was great to be able to use the 20 ft high ceiling historic room living room with chairs, sofas, table & chairs to carry on conversations with friends, making our evenings feel cozy and intimate. While it's a magnificent old place, we were pleasantly surprised by the updated bathroom & firm bed which provided modern comfort without detracting from the charm. The host family was able to renovate to keep the old as old truly exudes enchantment, allowed us to step back in time while still enjoying the necessary amenities. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful blend of ancient grandeur and subtle modern conveniences that made our visit both comfortable and truly magical. The breakfast prepared by the family's mother and served on a white clothed oversized table & ironed white cloth placemat, with made to order food, plenty of fruits were amazing & delicious! We enjoyed the private setting and the dining. In some sense, we appreciated this more than most of the high-end hotel.
I would tailor my next trip based on this hotel and book extended stays here next time. I will schedule my visits to Montepulciano & Toscana vicinities and come back to this hotel to unwind and enjoy.
- Jamie (10/5): The perfect place to stay in Montepulciano!! They made us feel at home and the accommodations were amazing! - Everything! Il Tosco is absolutely stunning and the staff were amazing. Rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable and their breakfast was excellent! They made you feel like you were part of their family. Nothing, it was Amazing!
- Joseph (10/5): - If we had to be picky, the shower isn’t great, the rain shower lacks pressure.
Property over all is fantastic
- Amy (10/5): Montepulciano Luxury - Luxurious, spacious, comfortable room with gorgeous view, the friendliest staff, and delicious homemade snacks and breakfast. What more can I say? It’s a no-brainer - stay here!
- Sally (10/5): Book now. - It’s a fantastic place - everything is ideal. I’ve been to Tuscany many times and stayed in agriturismos. Next time I will return to Il Tosco. The breakfast alone is worth the stay. We loved everything.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - The room was far too hot for us, and despite the advert showing air conditioning (which is why we chose this property) there was none. That resulted in two very uncomfortable and stuffy nights of quite poor sleep. Otherwise the property was perfectly suitable for a short visit to Montepulciano.
- Michael (10/5): - The people here are authentic and welcoming! The building, rooms and facilities are gorgeous! One of our most beautiful stays in our many trips to Italy
- Kimberly (10/5): Gorgeous views! - Beautiful accommodations with easy walking to the entire city. Parking nearby. Recommend reaching out to host when you are near your arrival for easier access to the property. Excellent room with outstanding views!
- Lesley (10/5): - What a spectacular stay! My family chose this place as home base for our week in Tuscany and it’s literally one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed- the building has an amazing history- the rooms were beautiful and furniture stunning- lots of hot water- very clean- high quality linens etc
The breakfasts prepared by the owner were over the top good- and she always lefts many cakes- desserts and snacks for my family - as well as fruit- treats and drinks - there are many restaurants in waking distance and you are right in the historic center with shops and wine tastings - all of the staff were amazing - highly highly recommend- we had the two rooms and private sitting room and it was huge and very private for our family - we will be back!
- Robynne (10/5): Montepulciano Stay - beautiful property with perfect service.
- Judy (9/5): Superb - Great location.
Amazing breakfast. Not having someone to check us in when we arrived.
- Rinnie (10/5): - Wonderful total experience! Kind and generous service, available but not intrusive, perfect morning breakfast, beautiful linens in rooms and breakfast area. One couldn’t ask for more from hostess and owners!
- Janet (10/5): - Lovely breakfast made each day by the owner’s Italian mother.
Felt very homely with drinks and beautiful home made cakes available all day from the kitchen.
Felt like home away from home.!
The B&B is on the first floor of large old house - the stairs up were often unlit..
- Matthew (10/5): Fantastic - It was such a special place, not only was it a fantastic place to stay I would describe it as a very classy experience…. Nothing was too much trouble, the communication was outstanding, and the food and the treats were a really lovely touch. It was all great
- Howard (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. Nothing.
- David (9/5): Wonderful, idiosyncratic hotel in historic Montepoluciano. - Ii Tosco is a wonderful hotel in the centre of Montepoluciano. Beyond the historic interiors and the view, it is the owners and staff who make the hotel special. A particular feature is the breakfast - fabulous!! Probably nothing.
- Philip (10/5): - Hosts were absolutely amazing! The breakfast was unbelievable, rooms very comfortable and very close to the heart of the city. Main piazza is about a 2 min walk.
Upon arrival the gost gave us a rundown on the best places to eat and shop in the city, as well as some day trip options in Val D'orcia
Thank you for the great stay!!!
- Debbie (10/5): Authentic Tuscan Experience - Fabulous service ! Breakfast + the views outstanding
- SILVANA (10/5): - Is different, it’s amazing!!!!!!!! Everything is perfect and very family. Is feels like you’re in your grandparents house. The breakfast is the best in the town!!!
- Glenn (10/5): The stay was a memorable and enjoyable experience that we will not forget. - The location was perfect as it it was a two minute walk to the center of town and was on the top side of the village. The view from the room was truly Tuscany and beautiful. The staff was friendly and was easy to communicate with as they all spoke English. The rooms were 5 star for size, comfort and cleanliness.
The breakfast was over the top, with all the traditional food with eggs and omelets made to order. They also brought out an additional treat each morning be it a Quiche, chocolate torte or some other Tuscan traditional dish. The kitchen was always open with snacks and cakes no matter what time of day.
If you are staying in Montepulciano I would look no further than II Tosco. Elana and her parents as well as Angelique go out of their way to ensure a great visit.
Thanks for making our trip to Montepulciano a great and memorable experience.
- William (10/5): I definitely would come back again. - From the staff to the accommodations, everything was perfect. It was very hard to find
- Lino (10/5): - Best stay we’ve ever had and we have stayed in a lot of places. The breakfast was next level but without Angelina’s recommendations it would not have been as good. She just couldn’t do enough for us. A true experience not to be missed.
- Katherine (10/5): - Il Tosca was a very nice property centrally located. Elena was very communicative from before we arrived and provided clear instructions on how to find the property. Angelina was incredibly helpful when we checked in and throughout our stay. Elena’S mother made the most delicious baked goods. We look forwarded to coming back to Montepulciano and staying at Il Tosco again.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - Best hotel we’ve ever stayed in with phenomenal staff and stunning rooms! The location is unbeatable and the views are breathtaking! We will 100% be back!
- Brett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clayton (10/5): - Beautiful Apartment that included a wonderful breakfast and lots of information about the town and surrounding area.
- Pdomski (10/5): Perfect hotel in montepulciano. - The check in was easy. We arrived with an assigned parking spot. Short walk to the hotel. The room was clean and modern with an amazing view. Fresh pastries made by the owner. Great location to everything. The next morning a nice breakfast was prepared. We were able to leave are suitcases after checkout to explore the city more. Would stay again for sure.
- Scott (10/5): - Incredible, unbelievable hospitality. Possibly the finest experience I’ve ever had anywhere. If you are anywhere near Montepulciano and looking for the most caring, wonderful place to experience Tuscany hospitality like no other, Il Tosco is THE place to stay! From the incredible cakes and pastries home made to the wonderful family-like care you receive, to the incredible apartments with everything you could imagine, Il Tosco is the best!!!
- Michele (10/5): - Absolutely perfect place to stay. Right in town. Beautiful home.
- Deborah (10/5): - Wonderful location for exploring Montepulciano. Loved that we could easily walk from the property to dinner and shops. Owners were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Amazing breakfast and the family suite was very spacious.
- John (10/5): Perfect stay - Traveled to Venice, Florence and Rome. II Tosco in Montepulciano was the best stay of them all. The staff was amazing, friendly and attended to our every need.
The owners greeted us in the morning with an amazing breakfast and were so welcoming. The rooms are clean, beautiful, and comfortable. We will definitely return.
- Lynda (10/5): - Excellent location.
- 146debbiev (10/5): Unique boutique hotel with exquisite furnishings - The architecture and furnishings of this small boutique hotel are beautiful--the common areas felt like we were in a palace. The room and bathroom we stayed in were large and had every convenience that made our stay comfortable. It was quiet, clean, and felt like home. The kitchen was always open to the guests to enjoy a variety of pastries and drinks. A bottle of wine and fresh water was provided in our room. The towels and bath products were lovely. The bed linens were exquisite (who expects that?). There was always candy, fruit, and bar items in the living room. Parking was available, even though it was a climb up to the hotel (we were told we could get a permit to drop off/pick up luggage). Breakfast always delicious, with individually prepared egg dishes available. Dining reservations were made for us. It was a lovely stay. Angelina was a delightful and gracious hostess and made our stay memorable.
- Michael (10/5): This was a fantastic experience - would love to return! - Staff and owners were great. Food was plentiful and delicious.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Fabulous! - Il Tosco was a fabulous hotel. Everything was perfect. Elena was charming and responsive to all of our needs both pre-travel and whiles staying there. Angelina was an incredible hostess/manager and handled all of our needs quickly and professionally. The breakfast was superior and the cakes were awesome -- make sure you try each one. The history of the place was very interesting (built in the 1200's) and we felt very warm and comfortable there. The views from our window of the Tuscan countryside was fabulous. I will return here always on future trips to Montepulciano. The Location is great as it is easy to walk anywhere in Montepulciano from their location. Thank you Il Tosco for a wonderful stay. Robert from the USA. Nothing! It was perfect!
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- vonspr55 (10/5): Beautiful architecture and old world charm - Angelina kind and helpful. We had trouble with our key not working after hours, and Angelina came within 15 minutes to remedy the problem. Breakfasts delicious. Made-to-order poached eggs and omelettes. Our room was large, with a huge bathroom. Quiet. Fresh air from windows that opened. Very clean place to stay. The ceilings and furniture were beautiful. Always fresh pastries and cake in kitchen. Carafe of water daily and opportunity to refill from the kitchen at any time. Helped us with dinner reservations and wine tasting.
- Jussi (10/5): - Il Tosco is a quiet, clean and charming place to stay while traveling in Tuscany. The common rooms are cozy and the elegant breakfasts are the best we encountered in Italy. This is a wonderful place to stay with a local quality. Well worth the higher cost.
- Fearless754292 (10/5): A fantastic place! - A fantastic place! The friendliness, the service, the room in classical style with everything, a luxurious bathroom, beautiful breakfast, location - everything was just perfect! A hidden gem of the highest quality! This is a 10 of 5 if possible.

- matt (10/5): - The only thing better than the property was the attentive team. An excellent stay, and I would highly recommend the property. The room was spacious, clean, and modern and the overall property offered great services - a kitchen, homemade pastries / coffee around the clock, and a great location to boot. We will definitely be back to stay again!
- Filippo (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Magical place to call home in Montepulciano - Amazing place, cannot imagine a better, more magical stay for our group of 5 adults, renting out the whole house. Elena was amazing, gave us great advice for local attractions and helped us by booking dinner reservations and a wine cellar tour. Angelina was also fantastic with our morning breakfasts and other logistics of our stay. Rooms were fantastic, common rooms beautifully designed and spacious, a great blend of historical charm and modern amenities. The breakfast was simply outstanding, felt like royalty with the spread and the uniquely prepared items each of the 3 mornings we were there.
- Lei (9/5): We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Would definitely recommend! - Excellent location near the town center. Our room had amazing views of the Tuscan landscape. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food service was amazing!
- Alina (10/5): Will definitely return to this amazing place - Location is in the historical center, the room is beautiful and has very nice amenities.
Amazing breakfast (one of the best I ever had) and snacks available 24/7.
The host is friendly and provided very helpful information for visiting the Montepulciano area. N/a
- Julie (10/5): - This place is a gem! The great reviews steered me to this booking and they were correct! The owner bakes lovely cakes and has them on offer all day through your stay. This gives a lovely feeling of welcome. Very much reminded me of my Italian relatives and I felt wonderful in our stay there.
Room was comfortable, shower and bedding very good.
Breakfast amazing, sit down service, at a shared table.
Parking is down the hill at a lot with reserved spots. Dinner is in town and we were advised to get reservations but didn't do so; the advice was correct and most places were fully booked.
We ultimately found a great one, called The Romantic, overlooking the valley behind the main plaza in the upper town. It had the best breeze, the best food, and the most engaging staff! We returned the next day.
Montepulciano is a wonderful town, and this is a wonderful place to stay, and I would highly recommend and would gladly return! Our favorite of our entire visit to Tuscany.
- Charles (10/5): - Most wonderful owner/staff
- Lina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberly (10/5): Fantastic Service and accomodations. Checks all the boxes. - The customer service was exceptional. Felt like home. Lots of space to hang out. They fed us like Royalty at Breakfast.
Angelina, Victoria and Elena,
Thank you for such a pleasant stay. Great location, but difficult to find when driving a car there the first time. Recommend putting up a sign or other identification marker.
- Neal (10/5): Hospitable hosts were very helpful booking excursions and ensuring our stay was a memorable one - Property was exceptional - modern amenities along with an old charm vibe that heightened the tuscan experience
- Elizabeth (10/5): An absolute jewel of a place - This is an exceptional place. The room was furnished to a very high specification and the bathroom was luxurious. The bed was super comfortable with high quality bed linen, which made for a cool night's sleep. Free access to the kitchen was a bonus and the breakfast was simply outstanding - we did not need any lunch after it and there was so much choice. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Honestly nothing was wanting - keep doing what you are doing!
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place ! Great host and exceptional views from the rooms,

- Paul (10/5): Wonderful hotel. A really great stay in Tuscany - Wonderful hotel, lovely friendly helpful staff, great decor, comfortable rooms and beds, nice shower, great shampoo, great breakfast with lots of very nice cheeses, prosciuttos, fruits, cakes, quiche, tiramisu, egg dishes, breads, etc., nice kitchen with cakes 24/7 too. Super quiet with great location too. Really no complaints at all. It's a lovely place to stay and I only wish I could've spent more time here.
- Σάββας (10/5): Unique stay at Montepulciano - Very unique and beautiful property. The decoration is kept traditional with some modern touches. Breakfast was served in a big dining table and everything was fresh and delicious. Angelina was very polite and helpful. She gave us great restaurant and wine bar recommendations and made sure we feel comfortable to ask for anything we need. All in all, a great stay when visiting Montepulciano. Nothing
- Christina (10/5): I will definitely go back - Hostess and owner were very pleasant beautiful place to stay I will definitely return with family. Everything was beautiful
- MarkAnnaLondon (10/5): Beyond Expectations - Heading to Montepulciano, book this place.
It's a small, boutique guest house, in the heart of the old town, with just a handful of rooms and located within a grand former town villa.
It's rare that a hotel comprehensively exceeds my expectations. Il Tosco did just that.
For example, on arrival you're taken in to the kitchen, shown a wide selection of freshly baked cakes and told to help yourself, for free. Same goes for coffee, tea, sparkling water (from a tap), dried fruits and even a selection of spirits.
The breakfast is served in the dining room, where your sit around a grand table with other guests, making it a communal experience. And the selection is great.
The rooms are very well appointed. When large chains, even at the 5 star end are going cheap on toiletries, it was great to see that Il Tosco offered Salvatore Ferragamo products. It's a detail, but it aligns with the Tuscan theme and demonstrates that the owner really cares.
Il Tosco was the perfect start to our Tuscan adventure.
- Mark (10/5): Beyond expectations. - It's rare to find a place that comprehensively exceeds expectations. Il Tosco is one of the few. Superb. Great location. Great place. Great service. Great breakfast.
