• David (8/5): - They really need to deal with the kitchen. Small fridge for the amount of guests, food goes bad because the fridge won't stay closed and one night there were bugs in it, the drying rack is gross constantly and they need two sinks. They do have fresh water which is great but it's a very inefficient system they have for dispensing it. Still, very good place especially for the price. Would recommend

• Merrill (10/5): - Casa Pepe is the best hotel to stay if you’re looking for great service by staff, perfect location, excellent price and a chill vibe. The hotel is spotless and has international guests that makes me feel right at home. Plenty of restaurants around and on weekends a great number of vendors if your looking for local crafts and much more.
• Merrill (10/5): - Of all the things I could say about Casa Pepe, it would be the staff that stands out consistently. They make check in seamless and they take care of your needs while you stay here. The building itself, which was built in the 1700 hundreds has an amazing vibe. As soon as you walk in you feel a quiet aura and tranquility. You hear multiple languages being spoken, which gives Casa a true international feel and it’s not just young people, but people of all ages. The common areas provide an opportunity for guests to chat about their travel experiences and future plans. You also have solo space, which is welcome. Casa Pepe is the best place to stay in Puebla, as it is a low key, extremely well run hostel/hotel, a no stress zone that lets you chill out and serves as your base to explore Puebla.
• hector (2/5): - Need to update the AC units, mine was not working. There was no hot water one day and this is the second trip that happens. Noisy drunken employees on June 27th of 2025. Excuse from management is that they were celebrating a birthday. They keep their noise until 1:30 AM and I decided to weat my earphones to listen to relaxation music rather than telling them again to be quiet after I did at 11 PM. FYI my birthday was the 28th and I didn’t make any noises for the other guests, totally unacceptable.
• hector (2/5): - On June 27th the staff decided to celebrate someone’s birthday at night. They their cahuamas (1 liter beer bottles out and pizzas. Like any drunk people they were noise as hell. I went down to the lobby where they were having their party at 11:30 PM. The ladies understood and left the 3 gentleman that stayed kept drinking and making noise until 1:30 am, rather than make a scandal I wore my headsets and proceeded to hear relaxation music so I could sleep. If silence and peace are in your priority list, it may ne a good idea to explore other options around the area. I have stayed there since 2015 and will be looking for options as this place has been going down hill since then. The AC was not working, water was cold one day, staff justified the noise, because it was an “employee” birthday. Mine was on the 28th and I didn’t make that type of noise let alone in a hotel at those hours. Totally disappointed
• Merrill (10/5): - Best place to stay in Puebla. Staff is amazing. Quick check-in, upgrade, clean, quiet room, big king bed, hot shower, stable internet, Hotel is in perfect location. Very low key, chill, environment. Really well managed!

• Yolanda (10/5): - Wow - this hostel was fantastic. I would definitely use the word hostel loosely, as the quality and standard of the entire place is more like hotel. The accommodation was gorgeous and in a great location. Staff were super helpful, giving food recommendations and also offered free walking tours of the city.

The staff member that checked me in is consistently outstanding.He remembers my name and is very polite and kind. The new bartender from Costa Rica was great, considering it was his first night. The location is perfect and right across the street from the Analco Station. That allows you to use public transport all over the city. I will be back very soon.

The price was fair, it does go up and down so pay attention. I will be back and my friends already know about Casa Pepe.
• Merrill (10/5): - I live and I’m a resident of Mexico. Casa Pepe is by far the best hotel that I have stayed at. I come to Puebla monthly, so I think I’m a good judge. My stay was perfect from check-in to check-out. Great location, welcoming staff, my room was the largest I have experienced. The shower was extra large with great water pressure and hot water. The whole Casa had a chilled vibe. Walking in you can feel the positive energy. I have traveled and lived in over 100 countries around the world, and Casa Pepe is by far one of the best. For me total comfort at Casa Pepe. In Puebla the best I have stayed at and I’m in Puebla monthly, so no stranger to this city. Oh yeah, great bed with many pillows.
• Celia (10/5): - Casa Pepe was a wonderful place to stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a lovely upstairs room, and the location in the city was perfect for us to explore.
• hector (6/5): - Maintenance is needed on the air condition units, they are not cooling properly. The third floor has very poor internet signal and you cannot work on the patios online due to the daily noise. Also the restaurant guy was rude and didn't like when I told him the breakfast were included in my stay. He had to go to the front desk to confirm, and since then he developed a passive aggressive attitude towards me, forgetting the juice, taking his time to bring the receipt. I am not planning to return due to this incidents.

What I didn’t like about this place was karaoke night because loud music was played until 1 am. No blackout blinds in our room and the street lights and flashing car lights were very bright. The air conditioner rattled and popped loudly when turned on. Overall it’s great if you bring a sleeping mask and earplugs.

• hector (6/5): - The place is conveniently close to the downtown square, as it is right next to the 5 de mayo boulevard it has very easy access and if they close the streets in downtown you are not affected by the traffic. The room they gave me with a bunkbed smelled like sewer, they really need to pour some enzyme eater down the drains to make sure the smell goes away.

At the time of arrival there’s not a single spot to park to drop luggage, check in not a bell boy, one one young lady running the place, parking available, you have supposed to check in in order to know where is the parking place and once you pass through that then cars behind you because there’s no space, you have to call to a number they said in order to open de parking door and walk back to hotel, no elevator so you have to take your luggage through stairs, room nice, then, 3 local channels, no cable, no nothing, when taking shower, tile on it too sleppery, damn dangerous, 4 stars?????, first and last time I go to this place, they should refund at least have the money cause someone is laying with the page, they show a picture from a hotel 5 stars in front of them in their page, that is totally wrong!!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
• Yomarilyn (8/5): - Well there’s no actual parking within the property and you have to drive for like 5 min to get there but it is a walkable distance after you walk. Overall it is decent.

• Lynne (10/5): - I stayed at Casa Pepe for 2 weeks while attending classes at the Livit Spanish Immersion institute which was a 15 minute walk away. I stayed in a deluxe Queen room which was very spacious. My room was right up against a busy Avenue of heroes but most days it wasn’t an issue because I am used to traffic sounds, I had to get up for class and the windows were double glazed to eliminate much of the noise. The hotel is half hostel and it had a great friendly vibe…always activities to choose from. We did a walking tour and the Luche Libre wrestling evening with a group from the hotel…the provided “meal” was terrible and the guide didn’t provide us with much background about the tradition which was quite fun…everyone, including the wrestlers, wore masks! If I were to return to Puebla, I would stay again… It’s right in the thick of the historic district and super walkable to everything you could want to do.
• Norma (10/5): - The atmosphere is very different from the chain hotels which makes it unique - much better word than boutique. The style of management is very eco-friendly but the facilities are very nice. Having the restaurant beside provide a wonderful breakfast for a very reasonable price also helps. Although parking is not on site, it is very close and the proprietors of the parking lot are very accommodating. Some confusion about location - we went to Calle 3 Oriente from several hours away but the hotel is located at Avenida 3 Oriente. At check-in (we had to call to find out where exactly it is located) we were told it is because the street is a small one that it is called Calle but when you look at a map the street is called Avenida 3 Oriente. Using the Expedia address caused confusion for us and extra time of a half hour to get there.
• Marco (10/5): - El hostel se encuentra a unas cuadras del centro, los alrededores son muy pintorescos, con lugares para comer, artesanías, museos, areas culturales y más. El personal es muy amable y atento. El estacionamiento se encuentra unos 50 mts., hay area de carga y descarga frente al hotel. El baño es muy amplio, las toallas ya están muy usadas pero las tenían muy limpias. Lo recomendamos ampliamente.

• Patrizia (6/5): Good but I wouldn’t go back there - I wouldn’t go back to this hotel. Is small and charming, but we were traveling with 2 babies and they put us in the highest and farthest room with no elevator (3 stairs flights) and they don’t have a restroom in the lobby. So we had to go all the way to room to take our kids to the restroom every time. They don’t have parking lot and one time we had to wait ONE HOUR to get our car from they valet service. The only very good thing was their restaurant. Great food and great service.

They let us drop our bags early since we arrived early in the morning and was able to get us our room much earlier than check in. Will definitely stay here again!!!! Beautiful architecture of colored buildings right there. You couldn’t pick a better spot for sightseeing.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, staff was very friendly. The hotel is small and very cozy. The location is ideal to explore the city. Breakfast was not included but they gave me a special rate. The only thing I would critique is the mattress, it was too hard for me. Everything else was perfect.
• Guadalupe (10/5): Totalmente recomendado y muy céntrico - Excelente ubicación, zona segura y muy bonita, recomiendo caminar por los alrededores del hotel. El personal es muy amable, habitaciones cómodas, el hotel no es ruidoso, al llegar el hotel Hizo un upgrade a mi habitación con jacuzzi y balcón lo cual me encantó. Definitivamente lo recomiendo. Si llevas carro solo pídelo a valet con anticipación porque ahí si son un poco tardamos, pero como nunca llevábamos prisa no hubo problema. El desayuno estuvo ok, bueno pero nada espectacular.

There were 2 things that made it not a five star review, the first was the noise level on this structure magnified severely due a cover court yard area and made it for a super restless night. Some guests stay up to late chitchatting and being loud and the other thing was the smell of raw sewer coming from the street at all times.

Descaseria hotel building gives you the opportunity to experience the feeling of staying on one of those old colonial buildings in Puebla. However our expirience with the front desk staff was terrible, we specifically booked this hotels because of the reviews but we were extremely disappointed. We arrived late to the hotel after a long trip only to find out that they had given our room to the wrong people. The person helping us at the time was in not condition to make any decisions or provide any answers so we had to wait there for over an hour to hear over phone from "the person in charge" to say that they were sorry and that they had no more rooms available with two beds. We were 3 so only two people could stay. I was furious specifically because I contacted the hotel that morning to let them know that we were arriving late. The next day they offered a suite that I had to pay the difference because it was not same type of room I booked. We did get a refund for one night but the staff acted like they did us a favor the whole time. The front desk staff was terrible.

• ACantu (10/5): - We had a great stay. The staff is very helpful and professional. Great location, walking distance to everything in downtown with lots of shops and restaurants in Puebla. The street is very colonial and picturesque. Very close to El callejon del Sapo and El Parian and El Zocalo. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was really good. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Our room had an Italian espresso machine. The pillows were not as comfortable but overall it was a wonderful stay and will definitely stay there again. We actually extended our trip two extra nights. We were very happy with the overall experience.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is helpful and the food in the restaurant quite tasty. It is also in the historical center, which is very convenient. One of the best I have ever stayed. Totally recommended.
• Verified traveler (10/5): GRATA EXPERIENCIA - Hotel relativamente nuevo, hotel céntrico, a un paso del barrio de los Sapos decoración sencilla, excelentes camas, amenidades y limpieza, personal amable y joven, la cereza del pastel es el restaurante, el CINCO, pequeño, con una carta igual pero manufactura impecable y gran sabor en los platillos, aún sino estás hospedado en el hotel vale la pena conocerlo. Sin dudarlo lo recomiendo y volvería a hospedarme.

• Douglas (10/5): 5 star stay in Puebla - The historic ambiance and the people made this a 5 star vacation setting for us. We were there for 9 nights. From the front desk folks to the waitstaff, the concierge to the woman who took care of our room, they were so pleasant and helpful. The beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, and there was plenty of hot water. We ate breakfast every morning at Cinco and it was plentiful and excellent. We were in the Histórico district, walkable to everywhere- great restaurants and museums, but not right on the Zocalo which was perfect-it was quiet! We slept so well and would stay there again in a heartbeat! We loved Puebla, the history, the food, and the people. Even our taxi drivers were helpful and friendly....ambassadors of their city. We will be back!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice but be physically fit - Beautiful and quiet rooms. Problem for me was the stairs: each tread a bit higher than I’m used to and stair rail wrong height at top of staircase. Staff moved us to the first floor (a room suitable for handicapped persons) the next day. The hotel staff were delightful and helpful in answering questions. The restaurant is small (perhaps 10 tables) and the wait staff attentive. The menu for the included breakfast was varied and delicious. Dinner was just as good. Nice location, area is popular and walkable. I recommend it.

Stumbled across it one day while exploring Puebla and was impressed with how it looked -- when I decided to splurge and stay there instead of the discount place I like in Cholula (one town over) I was surprised to find it was the same price as the discount place! Have been visiting ever since.

Best value for your money, I will choose Descanseria hotel every time we visit Puebla.

I sent 3 emails but it seems like nobody is making any effort to help me with this issue. I got severe food poisoning and I was so sick that when I was packing I forgot to grab my keys. I'm not sure how to address this issue anymore. Thank you.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Staff 10, management 0 - The location of the hotel is convenient for the zocalo, cathedral, shopping for talavera, and weekend flea market. Rooms are large and pleasant. Hotel restaurant is fine for breakfast and for a glass of wine in the evening. Desk and restaurant staff are very pleasant. Our one issue was that the hotel staff were directed by management to set up for an event in the hotel patio starting at 10:30 at night, and the set-up took until midnight. The event was scheduled for the next day at 7pm! This event was to take place in the patio, and all the hotel rooms face the patio, so all guests were impacted by the sounds of tables and chairs being dragged around for an hour and a half. We don't know why the set-up couldn't have been done earlier in the day, or even the next day before the event was to begin. The desk staff was apologetic, but apparently it was not their decision. Such lack of consideration for guests makes us wonder whether we would stay in this hotel again.
• Daniel (10/5): Great Hôtel with great staff - The Hôtel is very nice and comfortable. The staff is great and location few blocks away from Andador Turístico. It has a parking lot. I will improve outdated TV sets and would include breakfast with the room price.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Great to experience central Puebla - Small hotel with excellent location. Big rooms with big comfortable beds. Quiet. Centrally located in super safe neighborhood, but just off enough of the crowded areas. Couple of nice bars in the vicinity. Great restaurant. Probably the best breakfast I've had at any hotel, even better than the fancy buffets at some 5 star hotels. The personnel were extremely helpful and charming.
• juan (10/5): Great Stay....! - A great small intimate modern hotel in the historical center of Puebla, walking distance to all historical buildings and Zocalo. One block from Callejon de los Sapos. Hotel is clean, modern and rooms are spacious with a/c. Beds are great. The staff is very courteous and ready to help.. Included breakfast is a la carte in the small intimate restaurant with great options. I would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there on our next trip to Puebla.
• Ray (8/5): Relaxing - This hotel is located four blocks from old downtown. Great location near all typical attractions, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The staff was very helpful and the patio area is fantrastic for relaxing, having a cocktail or just gathering. The restaurant is nice.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel near Zocalo & more - Super cute hotel. staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and large. Mattress was a bit hard, but it actually didn't bother us. A la cart breakfast which is included in your stay is amazing! Chilaquiles, Mole, enchiladas, sirloin steak & eggs and so many other delicious choices. Short walking distance to Zocalo, shops, restaurants. Lots of local bars nearby. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Descanseria!!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice boutique hotel right in Centro - I would call this hotel a boutique hotel, since it's not very big and has a nice atrium and sitting area. It was very clean and spacious. Room had a little desk and space to sit, bathroom was big and had a great shower. Included breakfast at the attached restaurant was amazing. So much delicious food. It's a quick walk to all the major sights, and is surrounded by cute shops and restaurants. It is right on a major road, and we were unfortunate to have a room on the road side, so it was a little noisy. But you can tell that the owners did as much as they could to limit disturbance from the road. Thick windows and black-out blinds helped. We used ear plugs. Try to request a room away from the road.
• Jayne (10/5): Definitely going to stay here again! - Location location location! This wonderful, historic hotel is in the perfect spot for walking anywhere in the central part of town. The staff was so friendly and helpful with arranging our tours. The room was very quiet and clean. I only wish the bed were a little softer. But we still slept well.
