Guest Reviews
- Caelen (7/5): - The jungle vibe, the pizza at the restaurant, the views from the restaurant, and the staff were all great There was a cockroach in my room, the sink was really small, and the bed was very hard
- Ruoxuan (7/5): - The view was good. It was a little noisy.
- Emily (10/5): - Pools were nice. Super great value for the room.
- Paola (1/5): Horrible, mouldy, uncomfortable, old, dirty - Nothing Everything
- Rogier (6/5): - People at the reception and at the restaurant were really friendly and always willing to help. Great people! The floor in our room wasn't clean. The bed was not comfortable.
- Luis Fernando (10/5): - La ubicación y colaboración del.personal excelente
- Laura (1/5): - Nada ....
- Didier (10/5): -
- Marianela (10/5): -
- Roberto (6/5): - Good place for budgeting. But too far from the beaches, pictures are deceiving lol
- Steven (10/5): -
- Meghan (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at La Colina. Natasha is doing a great job with her business and is so easy to communicate with. The food is delicious and it was close to everything. The only downside is the slippery high ascending stairs. Your legs and arms get a workout from carrying luggage and/or a baby.
Would come back again and will continue to sing their praises.
- Daniel (8/5): - The view from our room was stunning.
- Juliet (6/5): - When we arrived at property, we were given a room far inferior to the one we prepaid. We were eventually given the room we booked. There was no key for the safe so we could not use it. The sliding patio door did not lock which meant the room was insecure no place to lock out valuables when travelling to the park. The restaurant was great. The pool did not seem clean. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, however could not give it more stars. The view from the top room was spectacular.
- Julie (10/5): - The food was fantastic! The view from the top rooms was amazing. Clean and simple. However, it’s 89 stairs to the top rooms. We had no amenities such as soap, shampoo, etc. one day the water was scalding and we couldn’t get it any cooler. Next day no hot water. I would recommend this hotel, just be aware there is a lot of stair climbing, no toiletries, hit or miss hot water. No coffee pot in room so we forgo coffee rather than climb those 89 stairs!
- Joseph (8/5): - Very nice place, great staff. Anastasia and Natasha were a great help with directions and calling a taxi for us early in the morning. The pizza is fantastic and a favorite of the locals. A word for the wise., this hotel is not for the elderly or people with walking disabilities. There are a lot of steps and no elevator. We would stay there again.
- STEVEN (6/5): - Too noisy
- Robin (10/5): - We did not stay here. We canceled because we found something different. But we did go for dinner which was excellent. The pizza especially (and the apple dumpling)!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice views - Hotel room was clean and fine with great oceanview. Good pizza restaurant on site. Near to beaches and other attractions near Manuel Antonio national park.
- Richard (10/5): - Nice
- Joni (9/5): Superb - Great hosts and the room was solid. Fridge included. They made the best pizza I've ever had! WiFi was laggy from time to time.
- Danilo (7/5): Good -
- Anupam (4/5): - Dated property, photos look better but property is much more dated and looks run down and below par. Would never have booked it, not for the advertised price. They sell locally for less dollars per night. This is like a roadside motel. Disappointed.
- Maya (10/5): Highly recommend - My family had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Hotel La Colina. Beautiful views, safe and convenient to Manuel Antonio.
- Kendra (2/5): - We stayed in 8 different hotels as we traveled around Costa Rica, and this hotel was by far the worst. Our room was clean and spacious, but that's the only positive I can provide. The the overall condition of the place is very rundown- like an old Motel 6. There was no hot water in bathroom, faucets made loud noises when used, no gas to use the stove, one of the bed mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable, the pool is very small and located in the restaurant dining area, the hotel website states that a breakfast is included but it is not (you must buy breakfast at their restaurant for $12-15 per meal), our room was super noisy from vehicle traffic, and there was no staff anywhere to answer questions or help. We definitely do not recommend this hotel!
- Akshay (10/5): - Friendly staff
Person at the reception gave us very good advice on things to do, places to eat, etc.
The restaurant staff was very courteous. Free breakfast was not included but they prepared breakfast for us early morning (restaurant prices) because we had to leave for our tour.
The wood fired pizza at the restaurant was delicious. They even had live music that day.
Room was cozy. Balcony had a lush green view.
- Kondapaneni (9/5): Superb - On-site Restaurant, the ocean view room and the friendly staff The many steps to the room. There are 91 steps to our room from the parking lot !!
- Gabrielle (4/5): - The staff were so sweet and kind, with incredible breakfast and company. However, our room was right next to the road making it really loud. The bathrooms were run down. However the common area was very charming.
- David (10/5): Perfect retreat - Wonderful staff with very good food and drinks at the restaurant by the pool. Monkeys often stop by for a visit, along with toucans. View from our balcony was spectacular, incredible sunsets.
- Jason (9/5): Beautiful hotel with great amenities and staff - Beautiful place with nice clean rooms. The pool is lovely and property is in a great location. We ate at the restaurant 2 nights and all of the food was good. The pizza is amazing. Even if you don't stay here, the pizza is worth the visit. No hot water in the shower. Also we had a room at the top and climbing the steps to the top is a hike. if you need disabled accessibility this may not be the place for you.
- Jason (10/5): Lovely hotel in a great location and increadible pizza. - Very nice hotel with beautiful views of the ocean. The staff is very friendly and the pool and restaurant are great as well. The pizza is fantastic. A bit of a climb to get to the room but worth it when you get there. Lot's of steps. Our shower did not have hot water so the showers were cold.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Todd (10/5): - Great people and fun place😎🤘
- Michael (6/5): A beautiful place but the location and the lack of working cooling system were big negatives. - I like the setup of the hotel and the staff was friendly. I didn't like the location as it is very hard to walk to the centre when there is no pavement, nor space for pedestrians on the road.
In our room, the fan wasn't working and the air con was very noisy.
- paul (6/5): - Broken piano I my room not against a wall and jutting out half way b/w wall and bed. I asked for three days for to help move it as it only had 2 wheels. The owner asked if I could move it, I said it will take 2 people but I would help. The next two days he said to me “ we’ll get that piano moved”. The bruises on n my hand and foot wouldn’t look so bad if it were operational, as I play piano.
Just a piece of junk stored in a guest room. P
- Stevan (6/5): Pleasant -
- McKenna (10/5): - We loved our stay at Hotel La Colina! The hotel is very unique, almost like an Airbnb. We loved having a fully functioning kitchen. The restaurant had live music and friendly staff. The location is also fantastic, with Quepos and Manuel Antonio both less than a 10 minute drive away. 10/10 would recommend!
- Genevieve (10/5): Exceptional - So glad I booked this little gem of a hotel. Its an experience all on its own. Quirky, quaint and great vibes. Thank you Mike and Bart for looking after me.
- Debbie (10/5): - Nice service, breakfast was fresh-not included but reasonable. Arranged our zip lining tour easily. A lot of steps if you want the view! I suggest requesting a lower floor if you can’t do the steps. Wonderful service
- Paige (10/5): Recommend this hotel! - Check in was quick and easy. Staff was kind and attentive. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. I have nothing but great things to say about my time here.
- Massimo (4/5): Disappointing - It Is a nice position not far from Manuel Antonio Not clean, hairs on the bed and old rooms
- Luis (10/5): - I just wanted to say thank you I had a good time
- Joan (10/5): Great Hotel, lots of stairs - The setting is beautiful, with a decent view of the Pacific from the restaurant. The price of the setting is that there are a lot of stairs! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything was very very clean. I was very grateful for the effective air conditioning, but it was rather loud.
- Jan (8/5): - A lot of slippery steps with no real handrail. Hot water was funky and hard to control. Friendly staff.
- Leticia (6/5): - The only thing that I like about this hotel was the pizza. The staff and service were poor. The location was okay just you need to be careful with the entrance and exit of hotel the parking lot is not very spacious.
- Lisa (8/5): - The restaurant at the property was excellent. If you need a room for a large family, this is for you. While the room was obviously old and outdated, it was clean and had a small kitchenette. Beware, there is no elevator, so prepare to haul your luggage up many stairs. All of the people there were really nice. It was very quaint.
- Howard (10/5): - Very good experience...room was good, pool, cafe and bar very good...loved seeing the birds and a sloth..
- Michael (8/5): Vacation - Nice hotel of the price. Rooms have a great view. Warning to the out of shape, this property has a ton of stairs to climb to the rooms.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (1/5): Not to recommend! - Extrem shapy and sticky and so noisy, directly on the main street, from rooms upstairs you heard everything, because the floor was wooden and old.
Not to recommend, only the wood oven pizza was tasty. Nothing!
- Daniel (9/5): Lovely, lovely stay.. the owners are really down to earth and ready to assist in any sorr. - Amazing costumes service, nice rooms.
- Ethan (4/5): - Good restaurant poor hotel
- Douglas (10/5): - a
- Marion (4/5): - This property is extremely dated. We were in the tree house. The house from the road was intense. The pool is its saving grace. That was great
- Dahiana (10/5): - Loved the staff and the place, def recommend it
- Nola (6/5): - The room is clean but smells quite musky.
- Georgina (8/5): - Nice room, pool area was lovely, quiet with nice views
- Hanjing (2/5): Very poor -
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lance (8/5): Very good -
- Chavarria (4/5): could be better - The pool was nice and could be used at any time The room was not clean, and the shower is terrible it only has very hot water.
- Louise (10/5): Not fancy but a great stay - Three location is great. Even though the road is busy or is walkable to Quepos and up the hill to markets and restaurants. Breakfasts choices are great and the staff is so friendly and helpful. It was a great stay while doing all the Manuel Antonio activities
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very rustic - don’t expect any services - The place is rustic. Very rustic.
It’s pretty quiet, and in a good location between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Limited parking. The whole site is built on a hill - so be aware that there are over 80 steps to the top rooms!
Very little hot water - and no shampoo/shower gel provided. Towels are poor quality. AC is very strong, really good. Fridge in room is a decent size. No TV or phone. Wifi is patchy.
- Mary (8/5): - They upgraded us to an ocean view room which was very beautiful! The AC was really nice to have since it is so humid and the room was cleaned regularly. The breakfast had a pretty good amount of options and the cook was helpful & kind. The only things we had issues with were that the pool was not clean so we did not swim in it & sometimes the staff was not at the desk and would not come when the bell was rung. Important to keep in mind that we came during their off season so they are not super busy. Overall, a pretty good experience especially for the cheap price.
- Faith (9/5): Spacious and convenient for large family. Near Manuel Antonio. - We stayed at the fisherman family cabin. We loved how spacious and air conditioned it was. Loved the many trees and view from the eating area. Great cooked to order breakfast. Pool was refreshing. Lots of stairs, so just be aware if you have mobility issues.
- Bruce (6/5): - I like the location. I rented the room with 2 full beds and 2 twins. Our room is in bad need of renovation. Termites have had their fill in this room. Holes in the wood on the windows, a termite pile under one of the beds. Curtains did not close on the front side of the room. The curtain was hemmed at an angle so when you closed it there was a foot of window exposed. black algae in lower pool.
I paid 2 extra nights in fees to have a third guest and EVERYDAY we only received 2 towels.
BUT with all that said I still had a good time there. If your thinking it's a resort it's not. It's as close to living like a TICO as you can get and still have AC at night.
- Mohammad (8/5): - The staff was great
- MARY ANNE (8/5): Rustic jungle stay - Definitely rustic with few extras but we had a beautiful ocean view that made up for it. If you want a resort, this is not for you. If you want to be in the jungle in a basic hotel, this is for you. No tv or phone in the room. Amazingly good restaurant open all day.
- Michael (10/5): - Staff very friendly n welcoming! Breakfast was delicious and sunset views from my balcony! Priceless 💕 thanks to Mike the owner n staff , memorable experience!
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Dimitrios (5/5): DISAPPONTING, NEARLY DELAPIDATED PROPERTY - PROXIMITY TO PLAYAS. 88 STEPS TO THE ROOM , VERY HARD ON THE KNEES AND WE FOUND IT OUT AFTER WE PAID AND ARRIVED AT THE PROPERTY.
- Oliver (10/5): Best views, best food! - We struck gold with this hotel. Had a room with a balcony with most spectacular view of the ocean. Room was lovely as was the whole property. Food in the restaurant was amazing, we didn't even bother trying other restaurants in the area although there is a wide selection. Thank you!
