- Shaun (9/5): Excellent nice quiet location with great food and all the staff are fantastic. - The Bull Inn is a charming old property located in a nice quiet area perfect for a nice relaxing night away. Very friendly and helpful staff. The evening meal we had as well as the breakfast were exceptional and I fully recommend, you won’t be disappointed. Nothing very happy overall

Beautiful old building N/A
- David (9/5): Excellent accommodation. Very friendly staff. -
- John (10/5): Excellent food, service, comfort and value for money - Food at dinner and breakfast excellent quality and value. Staff could not have been nicer or more supportive
- Linda (8/5): -
- edward (6/5): An average experience let down further by an underwhelming greeting / entrance. - Large room, comfortable bed, ample parking, good free wi fi. arrived just before 8pm and all the outside lights were off, had difficulty knowing where to go, especially in the dark. Lady was a little glum, room was cold, bathroom a little worn with rusty pipes.
- Lesley-ann (10/5): Wonderful - Sophie was out of this world A*...professional, polite, enthusiastic, attentive and efficient. As restaurant was closed she found us a near by restaurant and booked it over the telephone for us. She showed us to our room and supplied bottled water and fresh milk. Cannot wait to visit again xxx The fact we couldn't stay longer as had to get back home. Everything was perfect
- Graham (10/5): - Great stay
- Georgie (10/5): -
- Suraj (10/5): -
- Theresa (9/5): Lovely stay - Lovely themed room, very comfortable, and even had a small fridge. Comfy bed, strong shower. We ate in the pub that evening, all the dishes were very good, and I would recommend. Would have been nice if they had served sandwiches or lite bites at lunch time.
- Ane F (7/5): Very nice - Sweet staff, charming place, good food. Too dark in the yard/parking lot.
- M (8/5): - Accessibility NA
- Claire (10/5): - Lovely comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, friendly staff
- Bart (8/5): - Rooms were comfortable and clean
- Oliver (9/5): - Lovely old pub, excellent breakfast, in a quaint village. Huge bed! Very nice gardens. Room a little small, mattress a bit soft.
- I M (8/5): -
- Bronwen (9/5): Perfect quiet spot just outside of Reading - Clean, private and spacious room! Was nice and quiet and felt very at home. The shower could do with updating as it's not the best, but otherwise no complaints!
- Phil m g (10/5): - We had a very large bedroom. Decor was very stylish we thought eccellent. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. It was a beautiful rural setting . The staff were very helpful and friendly.. The locals very friendly too. No handles to get in and out of bath
- sarah (10/5): Excellent, just wasn’t long enough - Gorgeous country pub with lovely en suite rooms. I loved the quirky touches in our room (Dexter)
Very helpful, friendly staff, food amazing Maybe a bottle of milk in the fridge in our room ready for our first cup of coffee instead of getting dressed and walking round to the pub
- Rob (9/5): -
- austin (9/5): -
- Treadeasy (5/5): Could be better - We had a lunch while waiting for the room. Staff in pub were very polite and roast dinner lovely. Comfortable beds. Location was very pretty No response to query about upgrading room to include breakfast sent in advance of stay. No breakfast available on Mondays so we drove to somewhere to have breakfast. Room had frosted windows obscuring the pubs clientele garden! Compact room.
- Conrad (10/5): -
- Miron (10/5): - Very friendly staff.
- Murat (8/5): Some good some bad! - It’s not modern and it’s not pristine but clean enough. One of us found bed comfy other didn’t. Room too light in the morning blackout blind would be good. Walls far too thin can hear everything in next room. Didn’t dare put on tv so as not to disturb other guests. Pub noise started early and woke us. Room temp was good for us but fan provided if needed. Pillows nice. Parking plentiful. Breakfast was nice and staff v friendly.
- Vicky (8/5): -
- Krzysztof (8/5): - One day i will come back
- Denise (10/5): Good old fashioned accommodation very homely and welcoming - Perfect for a short stay - comfortable with little nice touches. Staff friendly. Very relaxed. Value for money NA
- Simon (9/5): Comfortable and friendly pub with really friendly staff - Comfortable bedroom and old world pub atmosphere.
Wonderful full English breakfast.
Many thanks to all the staff 👍 N/A
- De (8/5): Very good -
- Stewart (8/5): Very good - Very good breakfast served at a time to suit us. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly only fault was that the soap dispemser in the room did nor
t work and while we asked for repalcement soap this did not arrive.
- Karl (10/5): Please , if you’re in the area, you’re hard pressed to find better accommodation - I’ve stayed at The Bull a few times in the last month for work, and its always been great.Anna the host is fabulous, nothing is too much trouble, the staff are great, always ready to help, the rooms are comfortable and warm, the pub is traditional, and quirky, the food is great, I highly recommend staying, I’ve been back almost a dozen time in the last year, brilliant value for money 👍 Nothing
- David (8/5): Really good location poor amenities probably due to being out of season but will definitely visit ag - Breakfast was adequate dificult for staff as we were only people staying Bar closed at 8pm, no milk in room so no evening or morning coffee, soap dispenser didn’t work
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Jill (7/5): Great for a one night stay, room only - The rooms were well equipped, and nicely decorated, also great to have a fridge in room. The bed was large and comfortable. Room was clean. Could do with blinds on windows to make it more private. Breakfast offering was very limited with no cereals, yogurts fruit or fruit juices just full English which was nice but expected more for £15 per head
- Marc (8/5): Great visit to the Berkshire countryside, staying in this beautiful old pub. - Fab location, brilliant food. Amazing staff. The shower was very weak.
- Ali (7/5): Good -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Setting, food, staff Room was so cold when we got there
But apart from that.
Brilliant
- jason (10/5): - Nice food curry great
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Jules (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (9/5): Very comfertable. - Good food, comfertable rooms and lovely staff. Very easy place to stay.
- Karl (10/5): Brilliant !!?? - Absolutely everything, the staff were fantastic, especially Anna, the host, she is so accommodating and warm.I have stayed here a few times, and even the locals make you feel warm and welcomed, the food is great, the pub and rooms are quirky and warm .I highly , highly recommend this place to stay.Anna has limited rooms, so please book early, I’ve probably shot my self in the foot by putting in such a good review, but it’s a lovely place to stay ♥️ Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): - A lovely old pub building with comfortable rooms and good pub food. The satnav failed to find it at the first attempt but that isn't the pub's fault.
- Peter (10/5): Perfect - Very nice, tucked away in the countryside, Nothing
- John (9/5): Superb -
- John (5/5): An average stay - The Bull is located in a very peaceful village. The bed was extremely comfortable. Have stayed at the Bull in the past and sad to see that it's not looking or feeling at its best. Outside areas looked untidy and in need of care and within lacking a friendly welcome. The bedroom was clean & tidy but lacking attention to some basic details, no soap in dispenser or hangers.
- Holly (9/5): Superb -
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophia (7/5): Decent pub with rooms. A few tweaks would score it higher. - Location and traditional features Sadly it felt like the local youth club with teenagers constantly walking in and out of the pub to use the facilities.
- Viktor (10/5): Very good - Very nice
- Karl (10/5): Comfortable, warm welcome, great food - Everything, the room , the food , the staff, all were great,Anna the owner was lovely, I stayed here for work for three nights this week and would recommend Nothing
- Roger (10/5): - Unique rooms with rustic style. Fridge in room. Comfortable beds and superb breakfast. Dinner was also very good. Nice bathroom with shower.
- Sarah (2/5): Really wasn’t good at all - Nothing The room was freezing cold - there was no heating so couldn’t sleep a wink - was too cold.
The beds were way too small for an adult - very uncomfortable and couldn’t sleep.
Couldn’t lock the room from the inside so didn’t feel safe
Breakfast was supposed to be at 8am but there was no one around and no prospect of getting a breakfast
- Jenny (4/5): There was no electricity - Nothing
- Darrin (6/5): pleasant rural pub - Friendly staff and a lovely rural location. Great for walks Basic, but clean accommodation. Sadly let down by no sound insulation between the adjoining rooms. With a party in the next room, sleep was impossible.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Tessa (10/5): Excellent stay and evening - Everything! Lovely pub, lovely staff, delicious food and very comfortable rooms Nothing
- Walkling (6/5): Slightly lacklustre room and in-room facilities; comfy bed and nice Continental breakfast. - The continental breakfast was really good - fruit platter plus different toasts and mini pastries - plenty each. Tea and coffee were good too - hot and not weak. Cereal choice only passable though - really don't like those Kellogs individual packs though kids probably would!
Bed was very comfy and soft, free private parking and a nice garden view (luckily no late pub revellers in the garden that night). Only a double bed when we were expecting a twin. When we pointed it out the only option was a refund and to hunt for something else locally if we wanted. Not exactly helpful at 6pm at night.
Room could have been cleaner - dusty around edges of floor and in bathroom.
No teaspoons or milk available for the tea/coffee facilities in the room. And only one teabag- were we supposed to share?
No hairdryer - had to ask but we did get one brought to us.
TV remote was tricky - hard to turn on and off as buttons were so well used. Thought we weren't going to be able to turn it off at night for a couple of minutes as we struggled.
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (5/5): Great location but rooms distinctly ordinary - Lovely location. Room wasn’t clean. Dust and dirt in the corners on the bathroom floor. No one to report this to when we checked out at 9.30am as there was no staff and the pub door was closed. No water in the room.
Bed creaked every time you moved. Dated decor.
- Yvonne (10/5): Lovely, welcoming, would definitely stay again - It was beautiful; lots of quirky pieces of furniture and things on the walls, all ‘Bull’ related obviously. We didn’t eat a full dinner, just a drink and a snack but the food being served in the restaurant looked great. Nice little play area and field for children to play in There were no blinds or anything at the window, just curtains, so when we were getting dressed we had to leave the heavy curtains closed and have the lights on
- Zoe (8/5): Very good -
- Virginia (10/5): Needed room to get ready for nearly party, our room was spacious and well kitted out. We ate in the pub and the food was - Great location
- Alderson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Agnes is lovely! - Рад вас видеть
Third time staying over which, for me, means I'm totally happy with the lovely, charming place!
Drinks are very well priced and lovely staff and locals in the bar is a great addition.
My room name was Agnes and a great night sleep I had too.
Enjoy the garden (if not raining of course) and fire up a conversation with the locals too!
A little gem of a place.
- Kate (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elaine (9/5): Lovely village pub. - All the staff were really helpful and friendly and the food was lovely - both at breakfast and for lunch on arrival day. We liked the decor in the pub and rustic feel of the bedrooms. The area is a mobile dead zone but they have WiFi and let me borrow their phone to call a taxi. Taxis were expensive to an event at Englefield House but that isn't their fault!
- Tracy (9/5): Peaceful Stay - Beautiful country pub, quite remote and not much else around but it suited us as we had a show at Englefield House nearby. Beautiful room in a block behind the pub with your own entrance. Superb breakfast! Bit of a remote spot and it wouldn't suit you if you are fond of your phone signal.lol
- Warren (10/5): A wonderful place, will definitely come again. - The pub was very friendly and welcoming. The staff were amazing. N/a
- Paul (5/5): Lovely staff, but the rest not so good. - Nice staff. Pretty and quiet location. Not clean. Food average.
- Rachel (9/5): Lovely stay, ideal location for what we required would stay again highly recommend - Location, friendly staff, room was clean and food is fabulous lovely breakfast No water in room
- Sally (5/5): The staff were a bit distracted with refurbishment deadlines. I’m sure it will be much nicer and better attention but we - Comfortable bed and pillows. Shower room was really not great. Not an easy shower or space to use. Bedroom decor was bizarre.
- Elaine (10/5): Great place to stay, would definitely recommend. - Located in lovely village. Dog friendly and footpath walk nearby. Good outside space, nice garden with small field and play structure for children. Ideal for families. Inside pub was well designed, cosy feel but plenty of space. Staff really welcoming. Room was large and comfortable with extra large bed and 40” tv. Quiet as separate annexe from pub. Food excellent, freshly cooked with fresh, good quality ingredients. Nothing to dislike!
- Richard (1/5): I won't ever go back - Room was comfortable They have a restaurant but don't serve breakfast!!!
- Faye (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (8/5): Great location. Lovely pub and staff but accommodation a little underwhelming. - Location, the pub and the staff were excellent. The room was comfortable but rather cold and lacking some creature comforts. Breakfast only available one day and somewhat limited and expensive. A bit cold. Expensive/ limited breakfast.
- Tolan (8/5): Very good - Great location. Spacious room. Staff were very friendly. Would recommend to others. Disappointed with the late night drinkers outside our window making loud noise till quite late. We recognize that this may have been a one off situation but was quite disturbing.
- Paul (6/5): Nice - but could do better - Lovely room - good food No milk or tea bags in room.
Check in was poor, no information regarding wifi
- Matthew (8/5): I would stay again, but just a couple suggestions. - The owner was very welcoming, as were the team working when we arrived. Unfortunately, the window ledge in the pub was pretty dirty, which was off-putting for a place serving food. Once in the room it was clean, but a few things were missing that would have made the stay better: Shower curtain or glass divide to keep the shower from getting the bathroom wet, a light above the mirror in the bathroom, and finally - it was unseasonably cold this June, but it would have been nice if there was some heat in the room or a way to control it. It is good value for the price, and would stay again, but just a few Alex Polizzi improvements would make it so much better.
- Daniel (10/5): Comfy - Comfy rooms, nice pub and village
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Rusty (9/5): Superb - Nice friendly staff. Comfortable. Plenty of parking
Value for money.
- Georgie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (8/5): Lovely old village pub, hidden away yet a great location for M4 access - The food was delicious and far better than the usual pub grub. The service was pleasant and attentive. Every request was answered quickly and well. I really enjoyed the scampi and skinny chips. The room is a bit dated, however it was clean, and the bed was comfy. Otherwise good.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - The area was great , the pub very pretty and staff very polite and helpful Rooms could of done will a bit more cleaning , food wasn't the best
- Simon (10/5): Hidden gem you have to try! - Second stay at the bull and just as wonderful tbh.
Added bonus that the sun was out so could enjoy an outside drink or two at last.
Burger for dinner and wowsa, as predicted, wonderful!!
Staff were genuinely wonderful as before and nothing was an issue.
It's just a lovely place!
Enjoy the garden too!
Скучаю As before, everyone and everything was superb.
- Jan (8/5): One to return to ! - Quaint old pub in glorious West Berkshire, bar area unspoilt, beams to bang your head on(🤔),and a delightful cosy restaurant ,that served the tastiest food and served by a very polite waiter. LEAVING !
- Simon (10/5): Beautiful hosts and pub. - Everything and everyone.
Just a quiet, charming pub with lovely rooms out of the back.
Very, very friendly staff who couldn't do more to be honest.
Simply lovely...
Lovely location and locals also is a bonus.
Plenty of parking too but I could imagine being very busy in the summer.
Lovely garden too!
I'll miss it... Honestly, nothing.
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely place in beautiful village location. - The place was very pretty and the village location was beautiful. Rooms were spacious and nice in room bar with good selection of snacks/drinks. Bed was large, firmer than to my taste, but in all fairness I did sleep well because I was very tired. Very quiet surroundings. Bar/restaurant was nice. Food was good with pleasant service. Only thing that could have improved things would have been if the log burner was on as it was quite a chilly evening. I did have a bath and there was plenty of hot water and it was a big bath so that was great (bear in mind though, if you're short, you'll likely drown in this bath - I'm 5 feet 6 and my feet didn't touch the ends unless I slid half way down the bath - great for two people or someone 6 feet taller or more! I will say that where the bedrooms are behind the pub itself, the area could have been a bit tidier. There was an old mattress left outside which wasn't very appealing. And our room was very cold when we got there late afternoon, to the point I had to get into bed to keep warm. However the room did warm up later in the evening when we got back from our meal. The plug my side of the bed was taped off and so I didn't have a bedside lamp which was a bit annoying. And there was an interconnecting door, but it was locked and there was apparently no key to open it. It would have been good since one of us slept alone next door. Bathroom was nice, but there was no toilet paper at all when we arrived which I had to go and request.
One thing - online it says they have family rooms, but when I booked I could only get 2 separate rooms. In the bigger room there was a very large/pleasant sofa bed which would have been very adequate for our son. Instead, we had to book two rooms at £95 each. We would have been much happier with the sofa bed option. But I can't find anywhere any age limit on who can share a room, so if that can be made clearer it may help. I will say, we came back here because my son and husband stayed last year and loved it. We paid £60 last year and this year the cost has gone up to £95 per room (room only). That is a considerable jump. Although I liked the place a lot, for that price I'm not sure I'd come back again unless a family room was an option. There was 3 of everything in the room (towels/cups etc) so it presumably must be an option?
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant - No heating until requested and it was freezing cold. However it was then turned off and was freezing again in the morning.
- Sally (6/5): Convenient . Very good evening meal - Great food, helpful and efficient staff in the evening. Cold room. Wobbly fittings, Plumbing needs attention ( loo flush not working without taking top off tank). No kettle until we borrowed from neighbouring room. Sockets coming free from wall. No breakfast.
